    This paper presents the World-System Theory, which is also called the Centre – Periphery Model, and its application and usefulness in archaeology. This article focuses only on the World-System theory; the World-System Analysis will be discussed elsewhere. In the current article I consider the background to the Theory, its emergence at the beginning of the 1970sand its influence on archaeological works, particularly on the scholarly activity of Kristian Kristiansen and Andrew Sherrat. As an example, I present some statements concerning the Bronze Age as an era that saw very sophisticated, multiple exchange relations connecting remote regions of Europe. I also present the criticism towards the World-System Theory and its application in archaeology by Anthony Harding.

    The article highlights the essential characteristics of the Islamic financial system, its main components and dimensions; identifies the latest trends in the development of Islamic finance in the transformation of the world economy. The peculiarities of the transformation of Islamic finances themselves are revealed. Changes in the distribution of participants in the financial market after Brexit and the impact of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the viability of Islamic finance are outlined. The prospects of their implementation in Great Britain and "strategic centers – colonies" are proved. The preconditions for the formation of an alternative approach to solving the problems of the financial sphere in modern conditions are determined.

    The gradually mounting negotiating crisis in recent years, combined with the inability of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to perform its basic functions, has demonstrated some weaknesses and inefficiencies of the multilateral trading system. This provokes a discussion about the role of the organisation as the main regulator of world trade and, consequently, about the need to reform the multilateral system. Regaining the WTO’s position as a leader in global trade liberalisation and as a key forum for trade negotiations now requires a thorough reform of the organisation in many areas. This paper aims to analyse the issues related to the actions taken by the EU to modernise the multilateral system under the WTO. The article presents the results of an analysis aimed at confirming the thesis that the EU, leading the efforts to rebuild the position of the WTO in the global economy, against the background of today’s diffuse global balance of power, will have to engage in its reform with other important members of the organisation, such as China, among others. This is a consequence of the shift in the balance of power in the world economy, which has also been reflected in WTO negotiations.
    Sukcesywnie narastający w ostatnich latach kryzys negocjacyjny w połączeniu z brakiem możliwości realizacji podstawowych funkcji przez World Trade Organization (WTO) ukazał pewną słabość i niewydolność wielostronnego systemu handlu. Prowokuje to do dyskusji o roli organizacji jako głównego regulatora handlu światowego, a w konsekwencji o konieczności zreformowania sytemu wielostronnego. Odzyskanie przez WTO pozycji lidera liberalizacji światowego handlu i roli kluczowego forum negocjacji handlowych wymaga obecnie gruntownej reformy organizacji w wielu obszarach. Opracowanie ma na celu analizę zagadnień związanych z działaniami podejmowanymi przez UE, które mają na celu modernizację systemu wielostronnego w ramach WTO. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi prezentację wyników analizy zmierzającej do potwierdzenia tezy, że UE, przewodząc staraniom prowadzącym w kierunku odbudowy pozycji WTO w gospodarce światowej na tle dzisiejszej rozproszonej globalnej równowagi sił, będzie musiała zaangażować się w jej reformę z innymi ważnymi członkami organizacji, m.in. Chinami. Jest to konsekwencją zmiany układu sił w gospodarce światowej, która znalazła swoje odzwierciedlenie również w negocjacjach na forum WTO.

    Państwo włoskie w okresie faszystowskim było krajem, który błyskawicznie porzucił gospodarkę wolnorynkową na rzecz systemu korporacyjnego. Miał on zapewnić rozwój państwa, jego unowocześnienie, którego symbolem stały się pierwsze włoskie autostrady. Gospodarka do 1940 r. rozwijała się jednak wolno, ciągle drenowana na rzecz kolejnych konfliktów kolonialnych i wojny domowej w Hiszpanii. Wskutek tego okazała się całkowicie nieprzygotowana do wojny światowej. W czasie II wojny światowej włoska gospodarka była niewydolna i niezdolna do zapewnienia własnym siłom zbrojnym odpowiednio nowoczesnego sprzętu wojskowego. Jednocześnie nie potrafiono zaspokoić podstawowych potrzeb społeczeństwa włoskiego. Klęska militarna, a potem polityczna Włoch, najpierw dokonała się na polu zdewastowanej gospodarki, całkowicie zrujnowanej w latach 1940–1943.
    The Italian state in the Fascist era was a country which abandoned its free-market economy in favour of corporatism. It was supposed to ensure the state’s development and modernisation, symbolised the first Italian motorways. However, the economy grew slowly until 1940, continuously drained by subsequent colonial conflicts or the civil war in Spain. As a result, it proved to be completely unprepared for a world war. During the Second World War, the Italian economy was inefficient and unable to provide its own armed forces with suitably modern military equipment. At the same time, the basic needs of the Italian society could not be met. The military defeat of Italy, followed by political collapse, first occurred in the economy that was completely ruined between 1940-1943.

    While the role of modern Japan in world's economy is still very important, it has been changed a lot during last two decades. The process started during late 80's when rapid development of Japanese finished. The golden years based on investment expansion, development of high tech products and growing financial surplus. Then Japan evolved into capital and technology exporter. Changes in economic structure and institutional reforms accelerated this process. The main aim of the article is to described some areas in Japanese economy where the role of state has been changed in last two decades. It focuses on: privatization of state enterprises, changes in importance of some Ministries, role of central bank and financial market. The state support in the development of regions is show in case of clusters.
