    El patriarcado en distintos momentos históricos ha impedido a las mujeres el acceso a la educación, pero muchas han encontrado la forma de burlar los mandatos del poder para acceder al conocimiento. Las reivindicaciones de las mujeres han sido obviadas muchas veces, así como su obra y aportaciones desde la ciencia, la filosofía y el pensamiento feminista. Recuperar los nombres de las que abrieron camino con sus tratados, de las que accedieron a las universida-des buscando recovecos legales y lograron ser referentes para otras muchas, reflexionar sobre la influencia que unas tuvieron en otras que hablaban su misma lengua, es tan fundamental como contextualizar los discursos reaccionarios de los que defienden los privilegios del varón frente a los derechos de ciudadanía. Es, por tanto, fundamental incorporar la perspectiva de género en el análisis histórico.
    Throughout history, patriarchy has prevented women from accessing education. However, many of them have found ways to circumvent the dictates of male power to gain access to knowledge. Women's demands are often invisible, as well as their work and contributions from science, philosophy and feminist thought. It is imperative to recover the names of those who broke new ground with their treaties, of those who managed to be admitted to universi-ties through the search for legal nooks and crannies, and became a touchstone for many ot-hers, as well as to reflect on the influence that some of them had on others who spoke the same language. It is also crucial to contextualize the reactionary discourses of those who de-fend the privileges of men against citizenship rights. It is therefore essential to incorporate a gender perspective into the historical analysis.

    The promotion of gender equality and women's empowerment has been a goal of the United Nations Organization and its specialized agencies, within each one's particular scope of competencies. The World Maritime University (WMU), a postgraduate maritime university founded by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), has put in place its own policies to promote the participation of women in the maritime transport sector. The main idea behind this case study analysis is to look at how WMU's policies on gender equality and women's empowerment have evolved over time; their impact on student and employee body, curriculum, conferences and seminars; and propose areas for improvement. This research is aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of an ongoing process by exploring enrolment and hiring statistics, documents and related articles over a period of 34 years (from 1983 to 2017).

    Opis:
    Niniejsze opracowanie poświęcone jest dwunastu kobietom, które  przygotowywały się do doktoratów  z matematyki na Wydziale Filozoficznym Czeskiego Uniwersytetu w Pradze w latach 1882--1920 (Uniwersytecie Karola w latach 1921--1945), jak również na Wydziale Nauk Przyrodniczych Niemieckiego Uniwersytetu w Pradze w latach 1882--1945. Pomimoże prawie żadna z nich nie poświęcią się matematyce po uzyskaniu stopnia doktora, z różnych powodów, to każda z nich pokazała, że mogłaby  konkurować z mężczyznami przy odpowiednich zachętach. Społeczeństwo w tym czasie wyrażało nieufność wobec działalności naukowej kobiet. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono krótkie tło historyczne zagadnienia (np. studia kobiet na wyższych uczelniach na ziemiach czeskich, statystykę przewodów doktorskich w praskich uniwersytetach -- czeskim i niemieckim) dla lepszego zrozumienia sytuacji dotyczącej przewodów doktorskich kobiet. W drugiej części artykułu zaprezentowano pomyślnie zakończone przewody trzech kobiet na Uniwersytecie niemieckim w Pradze, podobnie 8 przewodów na Uniwersytecie Karola i historię jednego przewodu, który nie miał  pozytywnego finału.
    This study is focused on lives of twelve women who prepared their doctorates in mathematics at the Faculty of Philosophy of the German University in Prague in the years 1882–1945, respectively at the Faculty of Science of the Czech University in Prague in the years 1882–1920 and 1921–1945 (known as Charles University in Prague in the latter period). In the first part, a short description of the historical background about women’s studies at the universities in the Czech lands and a statistical overview of all PhD degrees in mathematics awarded at both universities in Prague is given for a better understanding of the situation with women’s doctoral procedures. In the second part, a description of the successful doctoral procedures in mathematics of three women at the German University in Prague and of eight women at Charles University in Prague, as well as one unsuccessful doctoral procedure, are presented.

    „W pamiętniku jak w zwierciadle szukaj obrazów minionej przeszłości, wspomnień uroczych, porywów młodości i niechaj nigdy nie pokryje ich pleśń zapomnienia ani przesłoni cień nowego, pełnego szczęścia życia. Pamiętać bowiem należy, że droga ku przyszłości wiodła przez nieśmiertelną przeszłość” zapisała 7 maja 1918 roku na tytułowej karcie swojego dziennika 20-letnia Jadwiga Orłowska. Świadectwo epoki uwiecznione na pożółkłych kartkach jest wyjątkowo cenne, gdyż losy autorki sprzęgły się z dziejami odradzającej się Polski. Obok żołnierzy walczących o utrwalenie granic odrębną batalię zainicjowały wtedy również kobiety. Jadźka, jak ją nazywali bliscy, stanęła z nimi w jednym rzędzie.
    “In the diary like in a mirror, search for images of the past, charming memories, youth, and may they never be covered by the mold of oblivion or masked by the shadow of a new life full of happiness. For one shall remember that the path to the future led through an immortal past” wrote Jadwiga Orłowska, a 20-year-old, on the title page of her diary on May 7, 1918. The testimony of the era immortalized on yellowed pages is exceptionally valuable since the fate of the author became combined with the history of the reborn Poland. Next to soldiers fighting for the borders, another battle was initiated then also by women. Jadźka, as her relatives called her, was there with them. The purpose of this paper is to show the situation of women wishing to work as lawyers in the 20th century through the prism of the biography of one female lawyer.
