For many years, the amount of waste generated on a global scale has shown an increasing tendency and their management and logistic is becoming a growing problem for most countries in the world. Waste management is an important issue to be addressed, as it concerns the three basic pillars of sustainable development: social, economic, and environmental. Therefore, it seems necessary to take initiatives to reduce the amount of waste generated and improve the waste management system. The article aims to analyse changes in the way of waste management and logistics in the European Union countries and the classification of these countries on the basis of the achieved effects in waste management. The article analyses three selected factors that reflect the effects of achieving environmental objectives in waste management. The cluster analysis method was used for the analysis. It found that EU countries differ in the quality of the results achieved in waste management, depending on the achievement of environmental management and sustainability objectives. In addition, the results of the analysis showed that the time factor has a significant impact on the classification of countries. High dynamics of the quality of effects in waste management were observed in the period under review.

Współczesny świat boryka się z coraz to bardziej zróżnicowanymi i poważniejszymi problemami, do których należy niewątpliwie zanieczyszczenie środowiska odpadami będącymi efektem ubocznym działalności człowieka. Gospodarowanie odpadami w odpowiedni sposób staje się wyzwaniem dla organizacji i całych państw, które tworzą swoje systemy i koncepcje, cały czas je doskonaląc. Problem zagospodarowania odpadów stanowi wyzwanie również pod względem logistycznym. Dlatego też pojawiła się koncepcja zastosowania osiągnięć i paradygmatów logistyki do gospodarowania odpadami. W ten oto sposób mówić można o logistyce utylizacji. Praca ma na celu przedstawienie podstawowych informacji dotyczących logistyki utylizacji. W pierwszej jej części omówione zostały zagadnienia związane z pojęciem i definicją logistyki odzysku, a także pojęcia pokrewne, takie jak logistyka odwrotna. W dalszej części przedstawiono krótki zarys historii gospodarki odpadami, jak również jej miejsce w systemie logistycznym. W ostatniej części zaprezentowano umiejscowienie logistyki utylizacji w łańcuchu dostaw i pojęcie zamkniętej pętli łańcucha dostaw.
The modern world is facing more and more diverse and serious problems, which undoubtedly include environmental pollution by waste from human activities. Managing waste in an appropriate way is becoming a challenge for organisations and whole countries, which are creating their systems and concepts, improving them all the time. The problem of waste management is also a logistical challenge. Therefore, the concept of applying the achievements and paradigms of logistics to waste management has emerged. In this way one can speak of waste logistics. The aim of this work is to present basic information on waste logistics. In the first part, issues related to the concept and definition of waste logistics and related concepts, such as reverse logistics, are discussed. The next part presents a brief outline of the history of waste management as well as its place in the logistics system. The final section presents the location of disposal logistics in the supply chain and the concept of a closed loop supply chain.

Opis:
The paper deals with the implementation of research concerning the collection routes of a selected company and subsequent streamlining processes in the field of distribution logistics. Specifically, the paper is focused on the optimization of collection routes of textile waste for the customer, i.e., a contractual partner of the company under investigation. The objective of the paper is to analyse step by step the current state of logistics of supplying a specific warehouse, followed by the application of the centre of gravity method for proposing a warehouse relocation. Finally, the individual routes to collection points are optimized. In general, optimization is done for two basic reasons: profit maximization and logistics costs minimization, which ultimately has a positive impact on earnings. The outcome is to determine the optimal routes with respect to costs and traffic while considering complications that may occur in a given transport territory.

The management of packaging material and its transport flow, including waste management, has become the focus of attention in recent decades, not least because of the emphasis on the requirements of sustainable development. Due to ever-increasing volume various types of packages, i. e. coming not only from industrial production, transport and trade, where its management is regulated, organized and controlled, but also packaging waste that is generated in households and where this waste ends at best sorted into containers according to material and in the worst case as municipal waste, or it is used as fuel in the incinerator. Author´s team defined the research idea in the direction of packaging waste, coming from online shopping, logistics and shipment distribution. The research was conducted over the year 2021 in the Czech Republic, during the Covid-19 pandemic, when online shopping was on its rise and, for many people, it became as a partly substitute for regular shopping in the future. In regard to an analytical part of the research, specific empirical methods were applied. The research hypothesis is evaluated statistically using a pairwise test. The presentation of the research per se is preceded by a literature review with citations of legislative articles and scientific papers related to the topic discussed. This section is followed by a description of the paradox in terms of online trading. The next part of the article presents the research findings, their summary and related conslusions.

A great deal of packaging made of PET is observed in logistics supply chains, and the article is mainly concerned with food – bottles. Implementing the EU’s “zero-waste” guidelines implies action on the part of producers of packaging and food for B2C distribution to find new solutions to enable the above-mentioned stakeholders in the logistics supply chain to balance the business mentioned above parties – taking into account environmental protection. The article discusses the tasks and possibilities under the above conditions of a new type of “RECYCLER” companies, which, at the end of the life of PET packaging, i.e. after the foodstuffs in PET bottles have been consumed, produce a recyclate and return it to reproduction. In several journals, including, e.g. (Połednik et al. 2016, Topiarzová et al. 2011), respecting good recycling practices – there is an ongoing discussion on the sense of introducing reusable packaging, deposits, etc. This article discusses the barriers to recovery in a multi-level plastics recovery system, with specific reference to the operation of a PET bottle recycling line, and presents a pre-verified concept for a method to increase the efficiency of separating PET bottles from the plastics fraction in a multi-level waste separation system.

Introduction/background: The problem of municipal waste management is an increasingly popular topic. The overproduction of waste is dangerous for human health, but also for the whole environment. For this reason, the coordination of the municipal waste management process is important for the general public, but at the same time it is not an easy process and involves many organisational and social challenges. Aim of the paper: The aim of the paper is to identify problems occurring in the process of municipal waste management together with a proposal for improvement measures. Materials and methods: The paper was prepared on the basis of a critical review of the literature and an interview conducted with 9 employees of the Town Office in Wodzisław Śląski. The article was created on the basis of the diploma thesis. Results and conclusions: As a result, the issues of municipal waste management were described, the process of municipal waste management in the municipality of Wodzisław Śląski was characterised, disturbances in the process were detected and improvements correcting the occurring errors were proposed.

Introduction/background: The increasing amount of waste, associated with socio-economic development, is a significant problem these days. In order to solve this problem, emphasis must be placed on the satisfaction of residents, who are the producers of waste. Their satisfaction positively influences their involvement in the process. Therefore, all studies and improvements regarding waste management should be made at the local level. Aim of the paper: The aim of this paper is to use the Customer Satisfaction Index and Servqual methods to examine consumer satisfaction with services. The study examines the satisfaction level of the Pilchowice responders. Materials and methods: The paper uses surveys and CSI and Servqual methods to analyse the survey results. The article was created on the basis of the diploma thesis. Results and conclusions: The study showed that for the Pilchowice responders, punctuality and flexibility of services are most important. The attitude of the service staff was rated best. Flexibility, recycling level and access to information need improvement. Possible improvements were suggested in the areas that need to be improved.

In practice, reverse logistics in Poland refers to a narrow approach within the framework of the waste management problem. The voivodships have been obliged to implement reverse logistics processes more effectively through waste management. The article aims to diagnose the implementa-tion level of waste management processes (part of reverse logistics) in Polish voivodships. The research used a multivariate comparative analysis that ranks voivodships according to waste management indicators. The research will result in preparing the ranking of voivodships listing the leaders and those unsuccessful in the implementation of waste management. Based on the research, Śląskie and Podlaskie voivodships were selected as the ones presenting the highest level of waste management implementation, whereas the lowest level was recorded for Lubuskie voivodship.
W praktyce logistyka zwrotna w Polsce, odnosi się do wąskiego podejścia poprzez zagadnienie gospodarowania odpadami. Województwa, zostały zobligowane do efektywniejszej realizacji procesów logistyki zwrotnej, jakim jest gospodarowanie odpadami. Celem artykułu jest zdiagnozowanie poziomu wdrażania procesów gospodarowania odpadami (część logistyki zwrotnej) w województwach Polski. W badaniach wykorzystano wielowymiarową analizę porównawczą, która porządkuje województwa według wskaźników gospodarowania odpadami.

In the era of growing consumerism, the generation of various types of waste has become a standard from which it is difficult to break free. This, combined with the ever faster shrinkage of natural resources, forces us to search for effective ways of recovering used and unwanted resources from Polish households. This state of affairs becomes a direction that determines activities for a large number of entities operating within various logistic chains. The changing market and legal environment forces producers, but also Polish farms to look for savings, which in turn translates into a more rational policy of these entities. In connection with the above, Polish families are also changing their approach to the issues related to the waste generated within them. Therefore, it seems reasonable to implement logistic strategies in Polish farms related to the optimal use of resources, including those that are no longer needed. The article examines the level of awareness in Polish households on issues related to waste recovery and the knowledge of basic issues related to the implementation of ecologistic concepts in households.

The objective of this article was to develop a structure of a decision-making model for selection of optimal locations of sewage sludge installation on the example of the Silesian Voivodeship. Selection of locations for waste treatment facilities belongs to complex multicriteria decision-making problems. Taking into account the problems of modelling the supply network for the effective management of sewage sludge corresponding to the concept of circular economy, the paper presents the application of the centre of gravity method for determining the optimal locations for the sewage sludge treatment plant based on the fertilizer production process. The research carried out for the purpose of this study included identification of key elements of the sewage sludge management system, analysis and quantitative and qualitative assessment of sewage sludge streams, analysis of criteria excluding the selection of installation locations, gathering spatial data resulting from defined criteria, determination of optimal location for installations (using the method of determining optimal solutions for the location of objects – the centre of gravity method). All spatial data are presented on thematic maps prepared with the use of QGIS software. The result of the research is a description of the decision-making model structure based on optimization of installation location and including technological and logistic, ecological, infrastructural, economic and legal and social criteria in the process of planning the location of a circular economy plant.
Celem artykułu było opracowanie struktury modelu decyzyjnego dla wyboru optymalnej lokalizacji instalacji zagospodarowania osadów ściekowych na przykładzie województwa śląskiego. Wybór lokalizacji dla obiektów przetwarzania odpadów należy do złożonych wielokryterialnych problemów decyzyjnych. Biorąc pod uwagę problematykę modelowania sieci dostaw dla efektywnego zagospodarowania osadów ściekowych odpowiadających koncepcji gospodarki obiegu zamkniętego w artykule przedstawiono zastosowanie metody środka ciężkości dla wyznaczania optymalnej lokalizacji dla zakładu przekształcania osadów ściekowych w nawozy. Przeprowadzone na potrzeby niniejszej pracy badania obejmowały m.in. identyfikację kluczowych elementów systemu zagospodarowania osadów ściekowych, analizę i ocenę ilościowo-jakościową strumieni osadów ściekowych, analizę kryteriów wykluczających wybór lokalizacji instalacji, zgromadzenie danych przestrzennych wynikających ze zdefiniowanych kryteriów, określenie optymalnej lokalizacji dla instalacji (z wykorzystaniem metody wyznaczania optymalnych rozwiązań dla lokalizacji obiektów – metody środka ciężkości). Wszystkie dane przestrzenne zostały przedstawione na mapach tematycznych opracowanych wykorzystaniem oprogramowania QGIS. Opracowany na podstawie prac badawczych opis struktury modelu decyzyjnego uwzględniający optymalizację lokalizacji instalacji pozwolił na uwzględnienie kryteriów technologiczno-logistycznych, ekologicznych, infrastrukturalnych, ekonomiczno-prawnych oraz społecznych w ramach procesu planowania lokalizacji zakładu gospodarki cyrkularnej.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest problematyka gospodarowania odpadami i związana z tym tematem logistyka odpadów. Przedstawione zostały główne źródła powstawania odpadów. Zdefiniowany i omówiony został także system logistyczny odpadów, gdzie podkreślono jego znaczny wpływ na gospodarowanie odpadami. Istotnym punktem artykułu są przykłady usprawnień logistyki odpadów, dzięki którym można zaoszczędzić m.in. czas i pieniądze. Sformułowano konkluzję, iż przemyślane i skuteczne zastosowanie systemu logistycznego odpadów oraz wprowadzanie do niego możliwych usprawnień ma na celu usystematyzowanie pewnych określonych działań, w celu jak najszybszego i najskuteczniejszego przetworzenia odpadów
The article deals with the problem of waste management and related to this, waste logistics. The main sources of waste generation are presented. The waste logistics system is also defined and discussed, where its significant impact on waste management was emphasized. What is an important part of the article are examples of waste logistics improvements, thanks to which time and money can be saved. The main sources of waste generation are also presented here. The conclusion is that the deliberate and effective application of the waste logistic system and the introduction of possible improvements to it are aimed at systematizing certain specific activities in order to process waste as quickly and efficiently as possible
В центре внимания настоящей статьи находится проблема управления отходами и непосредственно связанная с ней логистика отходов. Автор перечисляет основные источники образования отходов. Определена и рассмотрена система логистики отходов, подчеркнуто ее влияние на управление отходами. Важной составляющей статьи являются конкретные примеры совершенствования логистических процессов, благодаря которым достигается экономия денежных средств и времени. Автор статьи приходит к выводу, что продуманная и эффективная система логистики отходов, атакжевнесение в нее возможных изменений призваны систематизировать описываемую деятельность и способствуют более быстрому и продуктивному управлению переработкой отходов.
Il presente articolo riguarda la gestione dei rifiuti e la logistica dei rifiuti relativa a questo argomento. Sono state presentate le fonti principali dei rifiuti. Anche il sistema logistico dei rifiuti è stato definito e discusso, in cui è stato sottolineato il suo impatto significativo sulla gestione dei rifiuti. Il punto importante dell’articolo sono gli esempi di miglioramenti nella logistica dei rifiuti, grazie ai quali è possibile risparmiare, tra l’altro tempo e soldi. Sono arrivati alla conclusione che l’applicazione concreta ed efficace del sistema logistico dei rifiuti e l’introduzione di possibili miglioramenti ha lo scopo di sistematizzare determinate attività specifiche al fine di trattare i rifiuti nel modo più rapido possibile ed efficiente.

Opis:
Zmiany środowiskowe wymuszają w przedsiębiorstwach ciągłe modernizacje, zarówno technologiczne, organizacyjne, jak i produktowe. Kładziony jest nacisk na eliminację marnotrawstwa jako przejaw zarządzania świadomego i zrównoważonego. Dąży się więc do eliminacji nadmiernych kosztów, czasu i wysiłku pracowników. Jedną z metod weryfikacji i analizy procesów jest metoda obserwacji migawkowej. Pozwala ona zbadać strukturę czasu pracy pracowników lub urządzeń, a na podstawie wyników analizy zaproponować rekomendacje dla przedsiębiorstwa. Dzięki wykorzystaniu metody obserwacji migawkowej, możliwe było określenie struktury czasu pracy operatorów linii sortującej, a następnie przedstawienie propozycji usprawnień procesu.
Environmental changes force enterprises to constantly modernize, both technological, organizational and product-oriented. The emphasis is put on the elimination of waste as a manifestation of conscious and sustainable management. It strives to eliminate excessive costs, time and effort of employees. One of the methods of verification and analysis of processes is work sampling. It allows you to examine the structure of working time of employees or devices, and based on the results of the analysis, suggest recommendations for the company. Thanks to the use of work sampling, it was possible to determine the structure of the working time of the sorting line operators, and then to present the suggestions for process improvements.

The article describes the system of municipal waste management. The logistic processes, collection and disposal of waste have been also presented. Municipal waste was tested on three export routes. Particular attention was paid to the problems encountered in the first link of the municipal waste management logistics chain.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie zastosowania rozwiązań logistycznych w gospodarowaniu odpadami, których zadaniem jest obniżenie kosztów, poprawa jakości obsługi klienta oraz redukcja zanieczyszczeń. W opracowaniu zdefiniowano podstawowe pojęcia związane z problematyką logistyki powtórnego zagospodarowania odpadów, to jest terminy: gospodarka odpadami, gospodarowanie odpadami, odpady oraz logistyka zwrotna. Zaprezentowano przesłanki zastosowania rozwiązań logistycznych w gospodarce odpadami. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na metody zagospodarowywania odpadów w systemie gospodarki odpadami. Podjęcie tej problematyki jest wyzwaniem z uwagi na dynamikę zmian w gospodarce odpadami krajów Unii Europejskiej. Ponadto jest to temat dotyczący każdego człowieka, który jest głównym producentem odpadów. To właśnie człowiek jest pierwszym ogniwem łańcucha usuwania. Dokumenty publikowane przez Unię Europejską podkreślają, że liczba obecnie wytwarzanych opadów nie spełnia założonych norm i nie jest wystarczająca dla zapewnienia zrównoważonej gospodarki odpadami. Przed władzami publicznymi wszystkich szczebli w Polsce jest jeszcze wiele pracy, by osiągnąć zrównoważony poziom gospodarki odpadami i przekierować strumienie odpadów w stronę ich ponownego wykorzystania.
The purpose of the article is to present the use of logistic solutions in waste management, whose task is to reduce costs, improve the quality of customer service and reduce pollution. The article defines the basic concepts related to the re-waste management logistics: waste management, waste concept and reverse logistics. The article presents conditions for using logistic solutions in waste management. Particular attention has been paid to the methods of waste management in the waste management system. Undertaking this problem is a challenge due to the dynamics of change in waste management of European Union countries. In addition, this is a topic for everyone who is the main producer of waste. Human is the first link in the removal chain. Documents published by the European Union underline that the number of currently produced precipitation does not meet the established standards and is not sufficient to ensure sustainable waste management. There is still a lot of work for public authorities at all levels in Poland to achieve a sustainable level of waste management and redirect waste streams towards re-use.
