The physico-chemical characterization of the leachate from the Technical Landfill Center (TLC) of Moulay Abdallah (MA) which is intended for the treatment of Household Waste (HW) and Waste Assimilated to Household Waste (HWA) as well as the elaboration of the results of the study that was carried out on the leachate from the Oum Azza (OA) Technical Landfill allowed comparing the leachate from two TLCs located in two different regions and exploited in two different ways. The parameters studied are Organic Matter (OM), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) concentration, NH4+ ion concentration, conductivity, Suspended Solids (SS), Total Phosphorus (TP) and pH. The choice of these parameters comes down to their usefulness for the sizing of the leachate purification processes (PP) of the leachates of Moroccan typology, produced by the population of a coastal city. The results of the analyses show that the leachates from the two TLCs have almost the same physico-chemical characteristics. Depending on the method of management of the leachate (storage or direct discharge to the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP)), the evolution over time of these characteristics differed from one TLC to the other and all of the main leachate parameters from the TLC MA have all tended to increase over the time of operation. This is in contrast to the leachate parameters from the OA TLC, which all tended to decrease.

Opis:
The present research has the objective of identifying the characterization and management of textile solid waste generated in clothing manufacturing within a local productive arrangement (LPA) in Brazil. The importance of this research consists in the data presentation and survey which indicate the scenario of textile solid waste, enabling the promotion of appropriate and sustainable management actions for these materials. Thus it is exploratory research with a qualitative and quantitative approach. After analysing the data, the main characteristics, dimensions and management practices of textile solid waste in these industries are presented. The research results point out a considerable amount of textile solid waste that is generated and appropriate practices for the management of such waste. Nevertheless there is a need for improvement of this process aiming at enhancement opportunities of the materials mentioned as raw material in the development of the same products or other segments, in order to promote sustainable action.
Artykuł ma na celu charakteryzację odpadów generowanych podczas produkcji odzieżowej w obszarze lokalnego zgromadzenia produkcyjnego w Brazylii. Analiza umożliwia identyfikację istniejącego systemu i poprawę zgodnie z zasadami zrównoważonego rozwoju.

In this study, hydration behavior of the magnesia waste, supplied from the electrostatic bag house of the sintering unit of MAS Company, Eskisehir-Turkey was studied to find out re-usability of the material as a source of magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) production. According to chemical and crystalline phase analyses, MgO content of the sample was determined as 49.9 wt% and consists of mainly raw magnesite (MgCO3), sintered magnesia-periclase (MgO) and small amount of serpentine (lizardite) phases. In hydration process, the reactivity of magnesium oxide determines the rate and extent of hydration of the sample. Therefore, the waste samples both calcined and uncalcined forms were hydrated in water and the efficiencies were compared according to sample source. The hydration experiments were carried out at temperatures ranging from 30 C and 80 C to evaluate the influence of temperature on particle morphology and surface areas of the products. The efficiency of the hydration was evaluated by using thermogravimetric (TG) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses. The test results suggest that the magnesia waste could be used as a source material for production of magnesium hydroxide.

This study was undertaken to estimate the energy potential of municipal solid waste via creating a relationship between the high heating value (HHV) and the fractions of physical composition of municipal solid waste MSW (% food, % plastic, % paper, % wood, % textile) into the two scenarios, namely wet MSW (as discarded) and dry (free moisture). The created models were determined based on the results of obtained from the analysis of the components of the Al-Diwaniyah MSW and then from previous studies which involved experimental ultimate analysis (% C, % O, % H, % N, %S) of MSW, supported by the equations and models of previous studies which were used for HHV calculation. SPSS Statistical software was used to prepare the models. For each scenario, the input datasets were 60 cases, taking into account the minimization of the data and the average of HHV that result from equations. Four models were created, two models for each status where R2 was 1.00 and 0.999 for dry and wet situation, respectively. However, the equations of verification process showed that the models which depended on the dry fractions are more accurate. The produced HHV from the dry and wet MSW components in the Al-Diwaniyah City is 8655 KJ/Kg and 6440 KJ/Kg, respectively (as discarded).

Opis:
The mining waste from the Chaabet-El-Hamra mine contains sulfides such as pyrite (FeS2), galena (PbS) and chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) Which pose a threat to the environment. Sulphide minerals under the effect of oxygen and in the presence of water cause a phenomenon of acid mine drainage. Samples taken at the site of the sulphide mine waste at the Chaabet El Hamra mine and subsequently subjected to chemical analyzes offered an average sulfur content of 9%. X-ray diffractometer analyzes confirm the presence of a considerable inclusion of pyrite containing secondary minerals of sphalerite, and galena. To do this, the tests were directed to an environmental desulphurization process by flotation of the pyriterich fraction with depression of the low sulfur mineralogical matrix containing heavy metals of zinc and lead.
