Opis:: The article offers an overview of wall inscriptions from the Southwest Annex to the Monastery on Kom H at Dongola documented in the 2013 season. The collection consists of 49 items. They can be divided into two categories: integral elements of the original decoration of the Annex and elements that were introduced when the Annex was in use, mostly by lay visitors. The two categories are described and the most interesting items are presented in greater detail. Information derived from the inscriptions is discussed in the context of Christian Nubian culture.

Opis:: A well established program can be observed in the decoration of the northern pastophoria of Nubian churches from the 9th/10th century onwards. It consisted of a painted representation of Jesus Christ blessing with his right hand the chalice held in his left and inscriptions in Greek with prayers from the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts. The authors argue that this program was a Nubian creation, alluding to the function of the northern pastophorium as a place for storing oblations, keeping liturgical implements and liturgical reserve, and possibly also celebrating the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts.

The first of them is in Greek and is modelled on Ps. 85:1–2; the second is an original composition in Old Nubian with information about the protagonist and the author in Greek. The publication gives the description of inscriptions, transcript of texts with critical apparatus, translation, and commentary elucidating all significant aspects of the texts.

Opis:: The article offers a new reading of one of the wall inscriptions discovered during Dutch excavations in the central church of Abdallah-n Irqi. According to the new interpretation, the text includes an annual date, a fact that is extremely important for the dating of not only the text itself, but also of the wall painting (mounted St Phoibammon) it accompanies. In more general terms, the inscription has helped to verify methods for the stylistic dating of Nubian murals.

Opis:: The article provides a transcription, translation, and analysis of the Old Nubian legends on a painting of a dancing scene in room 5 of the Southwest Annex of the Monastery on Kom H in Dongola. The painting shows two groups of Nubian singing and dancing, and from the legends we understand that the occasion is the birth of a new heir to the royal throne, and that the Virgin Mary is invoked to ease the pangs of labour.
