    Opis:
    In the present study, an innovative design of a urea-selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system without conventional mixing elements was developed. The aim was to obtain a high degree of urea decomposition, and uniform ammonia distribution at the inlet to the catalyst, while minimising the liquid film deposition and keeping the compact design. The concept of the design was based on creating high turbulence and elongating the flow paths of the droplets. The design was verified through a series of numerical simulations based on the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) approach and a discrete droplet model (DDM) spray representation. The analysis included various operating conditions as well as subcooled and superheated sprays. A uniform ammonia distribution was achieved regardless of the operating points and spray properties. Additionally, in the case of a flash-boiling injection, a further reduction of the wall film was observed.

    This study presents the influence of the UWS injection frequency on a close coupled SCR systems performance. The investigation was performed with the CFD tool AVL Fire. In the paper the analysis of four different UWS injection frequencies in the three different operating points of diesel engine was shown. The assessments of the system performance was referred to the ammonia distribution at catalyst intake and wall film formation inside the investigated geometry, as these are considered as crucial in such a configuration. The results showed that injection frequency affects both factors on different level depending from the flow conditions. In addition, the wall film crystallization risk was discussed basing on the obtained wall film characteristics.

    The documentary film Rabbit à la Berlin (Królik po berlińsku), directed by Bartosz Konopka, tells the story of the Berlin Wall. The story is presented from an unusual perspective – that of the wild rabbits inhabiting the zone in the middle of the wall separating East and West Berlin, thus making reference to animal fables and the conventions of the nature film. The filmmakers also use known archival materials in an interesting way by placing them in new, surprising contexts. The story of animals told in Rabbit á la Berlin is parallel to that of people. The film combines these analogies in order to construct a powerful metaphor. The creators of Rabbit á la Berlin not only tell the story of the Germans, of East Germans separated from the western world, the story of the Berlin Wall, but also the story of Eastern European people living behind the Iron Curtain.

    The presented study which refers to the earlier papers of the authors discusses an effect of cylinder wall deformation on the effectiveness of compression ring operation. Presented models permit a mathematical description of a deformed cylinder and definition of ring wall pressure relative to these deformations. The drafts presented in the paper, obtained in a course of calculations of a compression ring installed in a work machine engine, allow to evaluate the effect of cylinder deformations on distribution of ring circumferential pressure and point out areas where the light slots could occur.
    W niniejszej pracy, wiążącej się tematycznie z wcześniejszymi publikacjami autorów, określono wpływ zmian kształtu otworu cylindra na skuteczność pracy pierścienia uszczelniającego. Zaprezentowano modele, umożliwiające matematyczny opis odkształconego otworu cylindra, a także wyznaczenie odpowiadającego tym odkształceniom nacisku pierścienia na gładź cylindra. Na zamieszczonych w opracowaniu wykresach, uzyskanych podczas obliczeń pierścienia uszczelniającego pracującego w silniku spalinowym maszyny roboczej, pokazano przebiegi pozwalające ocenić wpływu wartości zniekształcenia otworu cylindra na rozkład nacisków obwodowych, a także wskazano miejsca, w których możliwe jest pojawienie się tzw. szczelin świetlnych.

    W artykule zaproponowano spojrzenie na mur berliński przez pryzmat wybranych filmów fabularnych i dokumentalnych odnoszących się do wydarzeń roku 1989. Punktem wyjścia rozważań jest założenie, że wymiar medialny był szczególnie istotny na końcowym etapie historii muru berlińskiego. Telewizja odegrała ważną rolę między innymi w dokumentowaniu kolejnych etapów przełomu politycznego roku 1989, co odzwierciedlone zostało w analizowanych filmach. Sposoby prezentowania w nich telewizyjnego medium w kontekście upadku muru berlińskiego nie tylko odnoszą się do historycznych okoliczności, w jakich to medium funkcjonowało, lecz także mają symboliczny potencjał, pozwalają bowiem również w murze dostrzec swoiste medium określające niezwykły charakter granicy niemiecko-niemieckiej.
    In this article, Marta Brzezińska-Pająk looks at the Berlin Wall through the prism of selected feature films and documentaries relating to the events of 1989. The starting point of her considerations is the assumption that the media dimension was particularly important at the final stage of the history of the Berlin Wall. Television played an important role, among other things, in documenting the steps leading to the political breakthrough of 1989, as reflected in the films analyzed by Brzezińska-Pająk. The ways in which they present the medium of the television in the context of the fall of the Berlin Wall not only relate to the historical circumstances in which this medium functioned, but also have a symbolic potential in that they allow us to see in this wall a medium of sorts which defined the unusual nature of the German-German border.
