The article presents the experimental results of the calibration of the typical check structure with sluice gates installed in a trapezoidal irrigation channel. Hydraulic experiments on sluice gate discharge capacity were performed on a model made in a 1:2 scale. It has been explained how the method of measuring the downstream water depth below the sluice gate in the check structures installed in a trapezoidal irrigation channels affects the measured depth values. On the basis of hydraulic measurements, regression relationships were developed for the discharge coefficients for submerged outflow through the sluice gate in two types of sluice gates installed in irrigation channels. The formulas allow to calculate the volumetric flow rate below the submerged sluice gate after determining the water depth upstream and below the sluice gate and the gate opening height. The differences in volumetric flow rates calculated from regression relationships and measured values do not exceed 10%, which confirms their practical suitability for calculating the discharge through a sluice gate mounted in a trapezoidal channel. The values of the discharge coefficients determined in the channels with rectangular cross-sections are not useful for the discharge coefficients of sluice gates check structures installed in trapezoidal channels. Nomograms and relationships for discharge coefficients of the analysed sluice gate were developed.

Opis:
This work shows how a single coil wrapped on a pipe can be used to measure the volumetric flow rate inside the pipe and how by wrapping a second coil the flow direction can be detected. The developed method is very simple, accurate, and cover all the range of flow from low speed to high speed with more accuracy expected at high speed. Few turns are sufficient for the coils, no calibration is needed, and the method can be used for all kinds of nonmagnetic fluids even, with less accuracy, without the need to know the type of fluid inside the pipe. The principle of the developed method is theoretically explained and proved and then experimentally validated.

Opis:
Universal method of calculation of radiation recuperators with microfinned surface were elaborated. The algorithm of method applied: model investigations of heat transfer and hydraulic resistance on recuperator elements with microfins, the surface ratio and micro-fin efficiency. The universal method of calculation developed in the paper makes possible the recuperator's design to industrial furnace.
Opracowano ogólną metodę obliczeń rekuperatorów radiacyjnych z mikroużebrowaniem. W algorytmie obliczeń zastosowano badania modelowe intensyfikacji wnikania ciepła i oporów przepływu elementów rekuperatorowych z mikroużebrowaniem, stosunek mikroużebrowania i sprawność mikrożebra. Ogólna metoda obliczeń umożliwiła wykonanie konstrukcji rekuperatora radiacyjnego do pieca przemysłowego.

The paper presets flow characteristics of a hydraulic unit made up of a cylinder and a plunger, which is typical for most of precision pairs, as a function of contamination content in the working fluid. The consideration cover typical cases, including flow of contaminated fluid via an interstice (positive allowance), when the manifold plunger (spool) is in its initial position and the flow rate Qz of the working fluid at the manifold inlet is higher than the flow rate Q via the interstice, the manifold plunger (spool) is in its initial position and the flow rate Qz of the working fluid at the manifold inlet is lower than the flow rate Q via the interstice and when the manifold plunger moves against the manifold cylinder (body). Mathematical relationships, determined for all the above cases, define the following characteristics: volume of contaminants captured upstream the interstice, volume of contaminants captured in the interstice, volume of contaminants that flow out downstream the interstice, flow rate of the working flow downstream the interstice as a function of time, average velocity for the working fluid that flows out of the interstice as well as time interval that is necessary to fill in the interstice. Distribution of contaminants along the interstice length is described as well. The determined relationships served as a basis to find out interconnections between volumes of fluid that flows via an interstice and duration of the flow process.
