Opis:
Warystory ograniczników przepięć ulegają w trakcie eksploatacji procesom starzeniowym. Czynnikami narażenia są: napięcie robocze przemienne lub stałe, przepięcia, wyładowania niezupełne. Proces degradacji prowadzi do zwiększenia wydzielanej energii i tym samym do podwyższenia temperatury warystorów i wzrostu prądu przewodzenia. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań zmian degradacyjnych warystorów narażonych na oddziaływania udarowe. Warystory poddawane były oddziaływaniu serii impulsów, o liczbie zwiększanej w kolejnych etapach starzenia.
The paper presents the effect of multiple impulse voltages on electrical properties of a zinc oxide (ZnO) varistor. The multiple impulse sequences were generated by a combination wave generator delivering a standard impulse voltage wave of 10/800 žs and, at the short-circuited output, a standard impulse current wave of 8/40 žs. Varistors were exposed to a series of impulses, repeated every 5 seconds, with a peak voltage value equal to five times value of the reference voltage. Changes in the voltage-current characteristics were measured at DC voltage supply. The measurements of these characteristics were taken immediately after the ageing process and then after 15 and 30 minutes since the end of pulse ageing. The durability of the observed ageing changes was studied using the additional measurement of the voltage-current characteristics after 65 hours since the completion of ageing. The test results show that the increase in the number of impulses in the series causes the visible reduction in the reference voltage U1mA. These changes are not of lasting nature - the reference voltage value grows with the time since the end of the aging and after a significant length of time (Fig. 2) reaches the value similar to that characterizing a new varistor (Fig. 1). The greater number of impulses in the series, the smaller reference voltage in the steady state, that is after ceasing the degradation process, as shown in Fig. 3. In this case, a longer time is needed to achieve the initial reference voltage U1mA. This means that the phenomenon of return is slower. The observed degradation and partial return to the initial varistor characteristics can be related to the processes of absorption and desorption of oxygen ions on grain boundaries [3, 4]. These ions are least connected with the varistor structure. In state of degradation and partial or total return to the initial state they are transported along the borders of ZnO grains and the intergranular phase.

Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to substantiate the new method of measuring the voltage-current characteristics of solar batteries based on the use of a digital oscilloscope and a special linear sweep device. Design/methodology/approach: To solve this problem, a test bench was developed on the basis of a solar radiation simulator. Findings: Practically it is proved that within the duration of a single pulse of 40 μs, it is possible to measure the voltage-current characteristics of an SB with a short-circuit current of up to 5.8 A. Research limitations/implications: The method is relevant for all types of solar batteries, but the measurements were carried out on serial samples of mono and polycrystalline silicon with a nominal output power of 30 to 140 W and a voltage of 12 V. Practical implications: The method can find its practical application in the development of an intelligent solar module. The technology of the intelligent module is based on the periodic removal of information on the operational parameters of the solar battery based on the measured voltage-current characteristic. Originality/value: Experimental confirmation of the effectiveness of the single-pulse measurement method of the voltage-current characteristic of a solar battery based on a linear current sweep.

Opis:
Measuring instruments, measurement methods, and an exemplary analysis of the impact of chosen operating stages of the converter drive on the power supply network have been presented. The measurements of electrical and mechanical parameters in drive systems used in industry are complex. The task is difficult due to the necessity of connecting a measuring instrument into electric circuits of an active facility with the use of only short non-operational periods of the device. However, a wellchosen model of a drive system allows the multivariate research of the impact of drive parameters and a control algorithm used on voltage and current harmonic content and performance of the system, and therefore on a simulation analysis of the impact of the drive on the power supply network.

For InGaN/AlGaN/GaN ultraviolet (λ = 365 nm) light emitting diodes, the S-shaped current-voltage characteristic was observed at liquid nitrogen temperature due to the transition from single injection (electrons) to double (electrons and holes) injection. Initially only electron injection into the active region takes place and as the current is increased, the injection of holes starts. It has been found that at the voltage of the minimum of the negative differential resistance region, oscillations of the current, accompanied by increasing electroluminescence intensity arise, and the repetition rate of the oscillations increases with the direct current rise. The intensity of the main ultraviolet and yellow electroluminescence bands sharply increases with increasing current at negative differential resistance region due to the rise of holes injection.

The aim of the work was to develop a mathematical model for computing the steady-state voltage – current characteristics of a planar Solid Oxide Fuel Cell and to determine the performance of a new SOFC design. The design involves cross-flow bipolar plates. Each of the bipolar plates has an air channel system on one side and a fuel channel system on the other side. The proposed model was developed using the ANSYS-Fluent commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software supported by additional Fuel Cell module. The results confirm that the model can well simulate the diagonal current path. The effects of temperature and gas flow through the channels and a Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) structure were taken into account. It was shown that a significant increase of the MEA temperature at high current density can lead to hot spots formation and hence electrode damage.

Dynamic charge carrier transport behavior in the zirconium (Zr) oxide was investigated based on the frequency-dependent capacitance-voltage (C-V) and temperature-dependent current-voltage (I-V) measurements. The Zr oxide was formed on the ZIRLO and newly developed zirconium-based alloy (NDZ) by corrosion in the PWR-simulated loop at 360°C. The corrosion test for 90 days showed that the NDZ exhibits better corrosion resistance than ZIRLO alloy. Based on the C-V measurement, dielectric constant values for the Zr oxide was estimated to be 11.28 and 11.52 for the ZIRLO and NDZ. The capacitance difference between low and high frequency was larger in the ZIRLO than in the NDZ, which was attributed to more mobile electrical charge carriers in the oxide layer on the ZIRLO alloy. The current through the oxide layers on the ZIRLO increased more drastically with increasing temperature than on the NDZ, which indicating that more charge trap sites exist in the ZIRLO than in NDZ. Based on the dynamiccharge carrier transport behavior, it was concluded that the electrical charge carrier transport within the oxide layers was closely related with the corrosion behavior of the Zr alloys.

Opis:
The need to develop the theory of electric arc modelling with dynamically variable parameters is demonstrated. The Mayr-Pentegov model modification allowed mapping the effect of changes in static and dynamic parameters of the plasma column on the voltage-current characteristics of the arc. As examples, two variants of static voltage-current characteristics with an unspecified and determined ignition voltage value are considered. In simulations of electrical processes in an AC circuit with the modified electric arc model, slow and fast changes in the column length were used. The effect of these changes on the static characteristics parameters was approximated by power functions. The calculations resulted in obtaining dynamic voltage-current characteristics with correct shapes over a wide range of current changes.
Wskazano na potrzebę rozwijania teorii modelowania łuków elektrycznych z dynamicznie zmiennymi parametrami. Zmodyfikowanie modelu Mayra–Pentegowa pozwoliło odwzorować wpływ zmian statycznych i dynamicznych parametrów kolumny plazmowej na charakterystyki napięciowo-prądowe łuku. Jako przykłady rozpatrzono dwa warianty charakterystyk napięciowo-prądowych statycznych z nieokreśloną i określoną wartością napięcia zapłonu. W symulacjach procesów elektrycznych w obwodzie prądu przemiennego ze zmodyfikowanym modelem łuku elektrycznego zastosowano powolne i szybkie zmiany długości kolumny. Wpływ tych zmian na parametry charakterystyk statycznych aproksymowano funkcjami potęgowymi. Jako wyniki obliczeń otrzymano charakterystyki napięciowo-prądowe dynamiczne o prawidłowych kształtach w szerokim zakresie zmian natężenia prądu.

The paper considers wide-band voltage controlled power electronics current source. The current source has been designed as a part of 1-channel reference current generator designed for current meters testing. The control module of the generator utilizes specialized Analog Devices Inc. DSPs based microcomputer module for power electronics applications. Used solutions have allowed obtain high quality referencing of the output current within reference signal. The paper presents the structure and selected aspects of the control algorithm of the current source. Also selected investigations results of laboratory prototype of generator with utilization of controlled current source are presented.

The results of simulation tests concerning the cooperation of the nonlinear load with the power system are presented. In numerical experiments we have taken data from the real systems, including the cable and overhead lines. In practice the nonlinear load of high power may be supplied by the overhead or cable lines. The paper presents the comparative analysis, how the applied type of the line influences the level of distortion of the voltages and currents in the power system. The values of the higher harmonics of the voltages and currents as well as THD have been determined in the paper. These values have been estimated for the beginning and ending terminals of the overhead and cable lines supplying the nonlinear load of the inductive character concerning the cooperation of the filtering compensating device and the nonlinear load of high power. All experiments have been performed using MicroCap-8 program. In the paper we have included he exemplary results of the numerical calculations.

This study describes a novel technique to form good quality low temperature oxide (< 350 C degree). Low temperature oxide was formed by N2O + SiH4:N2 plasma in a plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition (PECVD) system on the silicon surface reactively etched in CF4 plasma (RIE - reactive ion etching). The fabricated oxide demonstrated excellent (for low temperature dielectric formation process) currentvoltage (I-V) characteristics, such as: low leakage current, high breakdown voltage and good reliability. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method of fluorine incorporation into the SiO2/Si inteface improves electrical parameters of MOS structures.

With the rapid increase in transmission speeds of communication systems, the demand for very high-speed lowpower VLSI circuits is on the rise. Although the performance of CMOS technologies improves notably with scaling, conventional CMOS circuits cannot simultaneously satisfy the speed and power requirements of these applications. In this paper we survey the state of the art of on-chip interconnect techniques for improving performance, power and delay optimization and also comparative analysis of various techniques for high speed design have been discussed.

The paper deals with the issues related to currents of higher harmonics occurring in low and medium power circuits, using the Mcad software. Furthermore, it presents the effect of current harmonics on the root–mean–square value of these currents, and thus on the current load of conductors, especially the neutral (zero) conductor. Subject to discussion are also the effects of higher current harmonics on the performance of the power grid.

Zapotrzebowanie na warystory do ograniczników przepięć jest bardzo duże, zarówno do ograniczników typu SPD jak i stosowanych na wyższe napięcia znamionowe. Głównym celem jest opracowanie nowej generacji nanostruktur, która zapewni jednorodny rozkład konduktywności na całej płaszczyźnie warystora. To umożliwi zmniejszenie wymiarów warystorów, przy równoczesnej poprawie jakości użytego materiału. Równocześnie możliwe będzie modelowanie charakterystyk prądowo-napięciowych przy większej gęstości prądu przewodzenia.
The required demand of varistors for the arresters, not only for the SPD type, but also for these used at high voltage systems, is very high. The idea of this paper was to develop a new generation of nanostructures of the material which assure a uniform distribution of the conductivity. These enable to reduce the size of the voltage limiting elements and therefore quantity of material used. Also it will be possible to modulate current voltage characteristic with simultaneous great density of current.
