In his first work entitled “Thoughts Concerning the True Measure of Vital Forces” Kant made an attempt to solve one of the most famous disputes of 17th-century philosophy. Though Kant’s solution is incorrect, it shows the way the philosopher usually solved philosophical problems. In his later works, written during the critical period, Kant came back to the problems he dealt with in his first essay, but the most important continuation of it can be found in the unpublished notes being part of so-called Opus postumum.

A literary historian finds birth, death, and marriage certificates incredibly useful as primary research sources. Detached as it is, this knowledge serves as a solid basis both for individual biographies and contexts meant to reconstruct a particular historical thread. Personalised documentation is subjective by nature, while the discussed documents tend to contain accurate and unbiased data. The cases discussed herein prove the need to consult both standard documents for personal data and dates of birth/death, as well as the information on occupation, place of birth/residence/death, kinship and affinity, even milieu. Thanks to the discovery of the birth certificate of Maria and Wawrzyniec Puttkamer’s daughter, the Philomaths’ letters of 1823 could be seen in a different light, as could the alleged affair between Maria Puttkamer and Adam Mickiewicz. To explicate and substantiate the personal data included in Maria Konopnicka’s letters and notes, a genealogical reconstruction of her family is in order. Bolesław Leśmian’s vital records revealed hitherto unknown details of his biography (and of people associated with him). A scrutiny of Maria Piotrowicz’s biography, based almost exclusively on certificates, disclosed the legendary story of her life. The above are mere examples of all the cases that can prompt researchers to explore archives in search of fundamental documentation, which can prevent paralogisms and help break the chain of errors with a view to further data mining.
Pożytek płynący z korzystania z metryk (urodzeń, ślubów i zgonów) – jako źródeł prymarnych – jest dla historyka literatury nieprzeceniony. Wiedza ta, pod każdym względem indyferentna, stanowi podstawowy budulec zarówno dla konkretnych biografii jednostkowych, jak i kontekstów służących rekonstrukcji jakiegoś fragmentu historycznego. W odróżnieniu od dokumentów osobistych zabarwionych subiektywnie, zawiera na ogół wiedzę pewną i ścisłą. Kilka omówionych przypadków dowodzi konieczności sięgania po podstawowe dokumenty, które zawierają nie tylko dane personalne czy daty graniczne, ale także informacje o wykonywanych zawodach, miejscu urodzenia, zamieszkania, śmierci, pokrewieństwach, powinowactwach, a nawet kręgu towarzyskim. Odnalezienie aktu urodzenia córki Marii i Wawrzyńca Puttkamerów pozwala inaczej odczytać listy z kręgu filomatów z roku 1823, w innym świetle zobaczyć rzekomy romans Mickiewicza z Puttkamerową. Rekonstrukcja genealogiczna rodu Marii Konopnickiej staje się niezbędna do wyjaśnienia personaliów osób z jej listów i wzmianek. Dokumentacja metrykalna dotycząca Bolesława Leśmiana odsłania nieznane dotąd badaczom szczegóły jego życiorysu i osób z nim związanych. Prześledzenie biografii Marii Piotrowiczowej oparte niemal wyłącznie na metrykach, odsłania koleje jej losu pokryte legendą. Te i inne jeszcze przypadki są zachętą do eksploracji archiwów w poszukiwaniu dokumentów o randze fundamentalnej, która chroni przed paralogizmami i przerywa sztafetę błędnych powielań otwierając drogi ku dalszym penetracjom źródeł.

The aim of the article is to present the results of a study on the challenges and barriers related to the role of land use plans in the management of green infrastructure in small and medium-sized cities. This research forms part of a larger project dedicated to analysing the importance of green infrastructure as a natural and social resource of small and medium-sized cities in Poland. The subject of the study are 814 spatial development plans in force in 20 Polish cities (12 medium-sized and 8 small). The selection of these cities was dictated by the assumptions of the research project and related to two basic criteria: the model of the layout of areas covered with vegetation or water and the projected development trajectory. What was analysed in the plans were the patterns of provisions that could be linked to green infrastructure. Provisions concerning green spaces, woodland areas and other specific provisions (which could be linked to green infrastructure) were identified.

The article presents the results of empirical studies about quality of life (Stras-Romanowska, 2007) and vital exhaustion (Kop, Hamulyak, Pernot, Appels, 1998) in the group of working men and women. Research shows that more than half of respondents declare vital exhaustion. The higher level of vital exhaustion occurs among women. The overall result of quality of life is not differentiated by gender and professional activity, but higher scores in the subjective sphere of quality of life occur among entrepreneurs. Workers in state-owned companies have higher level of the metaphysical sphere of quality of life. There is also a negative correlation (r = -0,34; p < 0,01) between quality of life and vital exhaustion.

In this article I want to show similarities, analogies, and differences between the main categories constituting the fundamental principle on which the logocentric metaphysics of Aristotle and the positive metaphysics of Bergson were constructed. Both metaphysical theories, on the grounds of understanding of the reality and rudimentary principles, that govern this reality, do not show significant discrepancies. Both, in my opinion, try to bring to the fore these metaphysical categories, which represent paradigms for the same power, energy, principle of life, or just life manifesting itself in a movement, a becoming and a flow that operates rationally and consciously, that is to say, intentionally. This power infiltrates and connects beings to one another and, in this way, each one and all are related to each one. This power is Bergson’s élan vital - that within animals is manifested as instinct, whereas within people, it sublimates into intuition - and Aristotle’s individual nature of things (phisis), as the inner principle of movement and rest within the individual being. The main factors for the different interpretations and incomparability of these two theories are, as I suppose; language as a tool for description of reality and different hermeneutics of rationality that the two philosophers represent. The language used for the description of reality, at the level of metaphysics is a result of the aforementioned different hermeneutics.

Рассматриваются проблемы курсовой устойчивости движения автомобиля. В работе анализируется смена свойств управляемости на основе анализа нелинейной велосипедной модели, которая учитывает не линейность сил бокового увода. Получена обобщенная зависимость, определяющая «кривую управляемости». Проанализированы условия потери устойчивости для случая движения с возрастающей скоростью по окружности постоянного радиуса на основе построения бифуркацио нного множества.

Polskie ośrodki miejskie czynią w ostatnich latach intensywne starania na rzecz reaktywowania witalności przestrzeni, społeczności, gospodarki czy też środowiska. Pojęcia rewitalizacji używa się w sposób bardzo szeroki, dostosowany do podłoża problemów, które w danej jednostce terytorialnej są uznawane za najbardziej odczuwalne. Jednocześnie można odnieść wrażenie, że w wielu przypadkach podejmowane działania koncentrują się na dość powierzchownych kwestiach wizerunkowych bądź na usuwaniu zauważalnych symptomów problemów. Do rangi pierwszoplanowego wyzwania urasta ponowne zdefiniowanie mechanizmu funkcjonowania miasta, tj. mechanizmu, w którym współgrają ze sobą rozmaite procesy, działania podejmowane przez podmioty lokalne cechuje synergia, zracjonalizowana zostaje konkurencja o zasoby, a funkcjonowanie całego systemu wyznaczone jest przez oryginalne i kreatywne kierunki rozwoju integrujące podmioty lokalne oraz włączające miasto w sieci powiązań z otoczeniem. Zawarte w artykule szczegółowe rozważania dotyczą miasta witalnego i procesów rewitalizacji przestrzeni miejskich.

Opis:
Reliable, remote pulse rate measurement is potentially very important for medical diagnostics and screening. In this paper the Videoplethysmography was analyzed especially to verify the possible use of signals obtained for the YUV color model in order to estimate the pulse rate, to examine what is the best pulse estimation method for short video sequences and finally, to analyze how potential PPG-signals can be distinguished from other (e.g. background) signals. The presented methods were verified using data collected from 60 volunteers.

The article presents the concept of building a prototype demonstration series concentrator to collect measurement data, data biological parameters of the patient as well as an information on immeasurable type, eg. stress, appetite, mood, etc. A special feature of the solution is the ability to work with biomedical devices, focusing a lot of types and models of sensors. Measured data are analog, but on the output of biomedical devices are sampled signal able to transmission to the communication channel and the collection of data in non-volatile memory. Therefore, an important element is also due to the nature of the data, the realization of self-diagnosis function. The aim of the task was to develop a prototype device, which is featured by small size. Great importance is also low power consumption by the device, because the device is powered from the battery. Since the device will work in the environment of the patient, necessary risk analyzes and tests of safety were performed. A separate block of tasks concerned the analysis of the components, such as processor, with particular emphasis on the economics of energy and ensure low energy to the work. The solution is focused on standard transmission media, having today special meaning: GSM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth.

The temperature-induced reaction between potato starch and vital gluten was studied. IR absorption spectra showed that the reaction is due to the changes in the gluten macro structure induced by a removal of water molecules co-constituting the original structure of vital gluten. Elevated temperature caused complexation of both components of the blend. The complex was stable up to 245°C. Above this temperature the Maillard-type reaction took place. It was manifested by the evolution of volatile products of the rotten onion stench. Starch can complex up to about 30% (w/w) of gluten. The temperature-dependent aqueous solubility and water binding capacity of starch-gluten complexes showed that both indices increase and decrease, respectively, in nonlinear manner.
Analiza widm w podczerwieni (rys. 1), badania derywatograficzne (tab. 1), charakterystyka kleikowania (tab. 3), rozpuszczalność w wodzie (rys. 2), zdolność wiązania wody w zakresie 25 do 90°C (rys. 3) i pH wodnych zawiesin mieszanek witalnego glutenu ze skrobią ziemniaczaną oraz produktów ich termolizy w powietrzu w 160,180 i 200°C przez 1 do 4 godz. (tab. 2) wskazują, że składniki te tworzą kompleksy. Skrobia może tworzyć kompleksy skrobia:gluten o składzie maksymalnie około 3:1. W tworzeniu kompleksów uczestniczą grupy NH glutenu i grupy fosforanowe skrobi. Rola temperatury przy kompleksowaniu polega na usuwaniu cząsteczek wody, które działały jako mostki usztywniające cząsteczki glutenu czyniąc go niezdolnym do kompleksowania.

Społeczeństwo województwa lubuskiego podlega procesom demograficznym podobnym jak w całym kraju i podobnym do obserwowanych w większości krajów Unii Europejskiej. Należy do nich przede wszystkim: falowanie wyżów i niżów demograficznych, deficytowe saldo migracji zarówno wewnętrznych, jak i zagranicznych, ujemny przyrost naturalny oraz wydłużanie się życia. Stosunkowo niezła dynamika zmian, w odniesieniu do mediany wieku oraz współczynnika obciążenia demograficznego, konfrontuje się ze zjawiskiem spadającej liczby zawieranych małżeństw i rosnącym odsetkiem urodzeń pozamałżeńskich. Postępujący proces starzenia się Lubuszan wpłynie na występowanie niekorzystnych trendów w zasobach siły roboczej, a także spowoduje istotne utrudnienia funkcjonowania systemu zabezpieczeń społecznych.
Lubuskie voivodship society is affected by demographic processes similar to those observed in all country and in most of the European Union countries. First of all it is a demographic oscillation of baby booms and population declines, negative both internal and international migration balance, negative natural increase and increasing life expectancy. Relatively good dynamic of changes in the field of the median age of the population and dependency ratio contrasts with decreasing number of marriages and increasing percentage of extra-marital births. The progressive ageing process of lubuskie voivodship’s population will affect adverse trends in the labour force and will cause relevant difficulties in the social security system.

No full monograph has yet been devoted to the history of the Jewish community in Dobrzyń nad Wisłą. This paper, whose subject is the almost completely unknown history of Jews from Dobrzyń in the years 1507-1939, stems not only from the author’s own interests, but also from the need to fill the above-mentioned gap. To study the topic, the author used mainly archival sources, which were the legacy of administrative and political authorities. Fragments of source materials are currently kept in the State Archive in Bydgoszcz and the State Archive in Toruń, and the branch in Włocławek. Especially noteworthy sources include: the vital records of Jewish people (1826-1936), the records of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office in Toruń (1920-1939), the town records of Dobrzyń nad Wisłą (1917 -1937), and the records of the Board of the National Council (1950-1972). In these collections, the largest numbers of documents are extracts from birth records, official correspondence, minutes from the meetings of local authorities, and municipal inspections from the inter-war period. Apart from the above-mentioned archival collections, the author used a wide range of other source materials, for example, collections of maps kept in the Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw and in the District Office in Lipno, as well as very interesting items from private collections. Most of the above-mentioned sources have not yet been published.

Podczas konfliktów zbrojnych priorytetem jest zrealizowanie postawionych zadań i celów. z punktu widzenia dowodzenia misja ratowania poszkodowanych odbywa się w dużej mierze po to, by mogli oni jak najszybciej wrócić do dalszych działań - priorytetem na polu walki jest wykonanie misji, a nie ratowanie wszystkich rannych. w trakcie konfliktów zbrojnych siły i środki zawsze będą ograniczone, a ewakuacja poszkodowanych będzie musiała się odbywać wieloetapowo lub będzie wydłużona w czasie. ratownicy często mają do czynienia z przedłużającą się opieką na polu walki i są zmuszeni zajmować się rannymi dużo dłużej niż podczas cywilnych zdarzeń o charakterze masowym. implementacja nowych rozwiązań technologicznych minimalizujących potencjalny błąd ludzki, gromadzących i automatycznie analizujących dane medyczne w czasie rzeczywistym, umożliwi - szczególnie w teatrze działań wojennych - szybszą identyfikację stanu poszkodowanych i wyznaczenie priorytetów. obecnie, gdy wojna przybiera zupełnie inną formę, należy szukać rozwiązań, które dadzą szansę przeżycia rannym. Priorytetem w przypadku zdarzeń o charakterze masowym staje się jak najszybsza ocena parametrów życiowych. Pozwala to na celowane udzielenie pomocy i ma zmniejszyć śmiertelność poszkodowanych oraz dać szansę dotarcia specjalistycznej pomocy. wykorzystanie sztucznej inteligencji umożliwi zoptymalizowanie działań ratowników już na etapie docierania na miejsce zdarzenia. w artykule przedstawiono nowatorski algorytm segregacji uwzględniający wartość tzw. funkcji szans przeżycia, który jest elementem systemu wspomagania decyzji ewakuacji medycznej opartego na integracji monitoringu i analizy parametrów życiowych żołnierza z systemem zabezpieczenia medycznego.
Events with a large number of casualties are an element inherent in activities on the battlefield. The difference in the triage used on the battlefield in relation to the triage used in the case of mass civil accidents results directly from the specificity of the event and the assumed goals. during armed conflicts, the priority is to achieve the tasks and goals set. From the point of view of the command, the mission to rescue the casualties takes place largely, so that they can be restored to further operations as soon as possible - the priority on the battlefield is to complete the mission, not to rescue all the wounded. during armed conflicts, forces and resources will always be limited, and the evacuation of the victims will have to be carried out in several stages or will be extended in time. rescuers often have to deal with prolonged care on the battlefield and they are forced to deal with the wounded much longer than during mass civilian incidents. The implementation of new technological solutions that minimise potential human error, collect and automatically analyse medical data in real time, will enable us - especially in the theater of war - faster identification of the condition of the injured and setting priorities. nowadays, when war takes a completely different form, solutions should be sought that will give the wounded a chance to survive. The priority in the case of MASCAL events is the quickest possible assessment of vital parameters that allow for targeted assistance, which are intended to reduce the mortality rate of the victims, give a chance to get specialist help. The use of artificial intelligence will make it possible to optimise the activities of rescuers already at the stage of reaching the scene of the event. The article presents an innovative segregation algorithm that takes into account the value of the so-called function of survival chances, which is an element of the medical evacuation decision support system, based on the integration of monitoring and analysis of soldier’s vital signs with the medical security system.
