    Traditional management methods and structures are failing to adequately accommodate a complex reality, which is characterized by discontinuous change, hypercompetition and the exponential explosion of information science. Therefore, it demands a fundamental rethink and the development of a management paradigm that can withstand the pressure of rapid change in a borderless, connected, and wired world relying more and more on virtual structures. Inevitable changes in business environment and the redefinition of management methods and styles address new challenges for computer science in offering new services and products tailored to virtual organisational structures. The paper explores more attentively the potential and advantages of the usage of advanced information and communication technologies for support of network-based virtual organisations. The paper presents a specialised computer system, i.e. Computer PINF Platform designed to support virtual organisations in the efficient exchange, diffusion, and transfer of knowledge and innovations. The main features and functions offered by the PINF Platform were selected based on in-depth analyses of its potential users and stakeholders, i.e. research institutions, academia, and SMEs. The genesis of performed scientific and application works, architecture, main functions, and practical areas of the application of the Computer PINF Platform are also revealed in the paper. The implemented computer PINF Platform is a complex, modular IT tool to support geographically distributed entities of virtual organisations that aims at efficient transfer of knowledge and innovation into science, industry, and the business sector.
    Tradycyjne metody i style zarządzania nie spełniają już wymogów adekwatności w stosunku do złożonej rzeczywistości, która charakteryzuje się nieustanną dynamiką oraz wszechobecnością technologii informatycznych. Zatem konieczne jest wprowadzanie nowych paradygmatów zarządzania, takich jak struktury wirtualne, które w bardziej efektywny sposób odpowiadają na zachodzące w otoczeniu gwałtowne zmiany ekonomiczne, technologiczne, społeczne i kulturowe. Nieuchronne zmiany w otoczeniu biznesowym, które wymuszają redefinicję metod i stylów zarządzania, mają także ogromny wpływ na pojawiające się nowe wyzwania stawiane informatyce oraz technologiom ICT w zakresie oferowania nowych usług i produktów dostosowanych do tzw. wirtualnych struktur organizacyjnych. W artykule przedstawiono potencjał wykorzystania technologii teleinformatycznych w zakresie wspomagania funkcjonowania organizacji wirtualnych (OV). Artykuł prezentuje specjalizowany system komputerowy w formule Platformy informatycznej PINF, która należy do instrumentarium systemów komputerowych dedykowanych do wspierania funkcjonowania wirtualnego klastra instytucjonalnego ukierunkowanego na dyfuzję innowacyjnych technologii oraz wyników prac badawczych. Analiza potrzeb informacyjnych z zakresu szeroko pojętej innowacyjności wśród przedstawicieli jednostek badawczych i przedsiębiorstw sektora MSP umożliwiła opracowanie założeń technicznych oraz struktury logicznej i fizycznej efektywnego narzędzia komputerowego w formule platformy informatycznej. W artykule zaprezentowano genezę architektury, funkcjonalności oraz praktyczne obszary wykorzystania opracowanej Platformy informatycznej. Opracowana multisycyplinarna platforma PINF stanowi kompleksowe, modułowe i elastyczne narzędzie wspomagające pracę interdyscyplinarnych zespołów badawczych oraz efektywny transfer wiedzy i innowacji do sektora nauki, przemysłu oraz biznesu.

    Opis:
    Implementations of multi-UAV systems can be divided mainly into two different approaches, centralised system that synchronises positions of each vehicle by a ground station and an autonomous system based on decentralised control, which offers more flexibility and independence. Decentralisation of multi-UAV control entails the need for information sharing between all vehicles, what in some cases could be problematic due to a significant amount of data to be sent over the wireless network. To improve the reliability and the throughput of information sharing inside the formation of UAVs, this paper proposes an approach that combines virtual structure with a leader and two flocking behaviours. Each UAV has assigned different virtual migration point referenced to the leader's position which is simultaneously the origin of a formation reference frame. All migration points create together a virtual rigid structure. Each vehicle uses local behaviours of cohesion and repulsion respectively, to track its own assigned point in the structure and to avoid a collision with the previous UAV in the structure. To calculate parameters of local behaviours, each UAV should know position and attitude of the leader to define the formation reference frame and also the actual position of the previous UAV in the structure. Hence, information sharing can be based on a chain of local peer-to-peer communication between two consecutive vehicles in the structure. In such solution, the information about the leader could be sequentially transmitted from one UAV to another. Numerical simulations were prepared and carried out to verify the effectiveness of the presented approach. Trajectories recorded during those simulations show collective, coherence and collision-free flights of the formation created with five UAVs.

    Maintaining a competitive position requires optimization activities in various areas of functioning of both business and public organizations. One of the manifestations of such optimization is organizational harmonization resulting in cohesion both inside and outside the organization. The article presents the issue of organizational coherence in the case of implementation of virtual structures involving organizations from the region of China. The analysis of the problem of building organizational integrity in the aspect of operations performed by process nests located in various geographical areas was analyzed. The focus is placed on the issue of different organizational cultures that need adaptation. The article aims to present the results of research in the field of selected elements of corporate culture (cultural artifacts) concerning Chinese organizations, which will enable organizations from other regions of the world to develop coherent mechanisms of cooperation within virtual structures. The results of the research clearly showed that Chinese organizations have a specific organizational culture in the studied areas, characterized by ambiguity, general language, secretiveness of attitudes and high importance of interpersonal relations.
    Zachowanie pozycji konkurencyjnej wymaga działań optymalizacyjnych w różnych obszarach funkcjonowania zarówno organizacji biznesowych, jak i publicznych. Jednym z przejawów takiej optymalizacji jest harmonizacja organizacyjna skutkująca spójnością zarówno wewnątrz, jak i na zewnątrz organizacji. W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie spójności organizacyjnej w przypadku wdrożenia struktur wirtualnych z udziałem organizacji z rejonu Chin. Analizie poddano zagadnienie budowy spójności organizacyjnej w aspekcie operacji wykonywanych przez gniazda procesowe znajdujące się w różnych obszarach geograficznych. Skoncentrowano się na zagadnieniu różnych kultur organizacyjnych, które wymagają działań dostosowawczych. Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań w obszarze wybranych elementów kultury organizacyjnej (artefaktów kulturowych) dotyczących organizacji chińskich, co umożliwi organizacjom z innych rejonów świata opracowanie spójnych mechanizmów współpracy w ramach struktur wirtualnych. Wyniki badań wskazały jednoznacznie, że organizacje chińskie posiadają specyficzną kulturę organizacyjną w badanych obszarach, cechującą się wieloznacznością, ogólnością języka, skrytością postaw oraz dużą wagą relacji interpersonalnych.

    Artykuł dotyczy ilościowego ujęcia dwóch aspektów będących przedmiotem zainteresowania szeroko pojętych nauk o zarządzaniu. Jednym z nich są zdolności organizacyjne, w tym zdolności do budowania i funkcjonowania firm w obrębie wirtualnej organizacji. Drugim – czynniki strukturotwórcze nadające kształt formie zorganizowania kooperujących ze sobą podmiotów. Autorzy dokonali próby powiązania tych dwóch kwestii przez wykorzystanie modeli logitowych, a w konsekwencji dokonali interpretacji otrzymanych wyników.
    This article applies to quantify the two aspects of interest of the broad management sciences. One of them is organizational skills, including the ability to build and operation of companies within a virtual organization. The second are factors that suitable form of structure-organizing cooperating with each other entities. The authors try to link these two issues by using logit models and made the interpretation of the results.

    Maritime education and training (MET) has a long tradition of using simulator training to develop competent seafarers and relevant seafaring skills. In a safety critical domain like maritime industry, simulators provide opportunities to acquire technical, procedural and operational skills without the risks and expense associated with on-the-job training. In such training, computer-generated simulations and simulators with higher realism are inferred to better training outcomes. This realism, or the extent to which simulators replicate the experience of a real work environment, is referred to as the “fidelity” of a simulator. As the simulation technology develops, the maritime industry adapts to more advanced, higher fidelity simulators. However, the cost of a simulator generally increases with increasing fidelity, and thus practical and economic constraints must be considered. In this paper, we investigated two types of simulators on perceived skill development of the students at engine room simulation training. We compared the self-efficacy levels of 11 second year marine engineering students and their perceived skill development between two different fidelity engine room simulators. The result suggests that students have higher motivation and prefer to train with immersive training simulators compared to the traditional training. This article aims to add to existing knowledge on the influence of fidelity of simulators in training effectiveness in maritime education and training.

    Opis:
    The author analyses ten characteristic features of the contemporary anti-globalist movement thus providing evidence for the argument that it is an example of a 'new' new social movement. The anti-globalist movement exhibits a set of internal contradictions. For example, the uncivil tactics the movement employs clash with the civic nature of its sole rational objective, which is the grass-roots evolutionary modelling of institutions and civic communities. A consequence of this in-born paradox is the futility of anti-globalists' actions, which in turn entails the self-destruction tendency of the anti-globalist movement.
    W artykule omawiam dziesięć charakterystycznych cech współczesnego ruchu antyglobalistycznego, które w znacznej mierze przesądzają o tym, iż posiada on charakter "nowego" nowego ruchu społecznego. Jedną z podstawowych właściwości tego ruchu są jego sprzeczności wewnętrzne, polegające m. in. na rozbieżności pomiędzy nieobywatelskimi metodami działań ruchu a obywatelskim charakterem jego jedynego racjonalnego celu aktywności, jakim jest oddolne, ewolucyjne kształtowanie instytucji i wspólnot obywatelskich. Sprzeczność ta prowadzi do nieskuteczności działań ruchu, a w konsekwencji do zjawiska samounicestwiania się ruchu antyglobalistycznego.
