- This article presents the possibilities of using the results of geophysical research for constructing a regional model of groundwater flow to recognise the geological and hydrogeological structures, including the thickness and type of lithologies in the Biebrza catchment area. Interpretation has been made using archived gravimetric data and new geoelectric measurements. The most important goal set before the gravimetric method was the recognition of deep structure, such as deep subglacial channels and depressions in the sub-Quaternary layers. Furthermore, real resistance values were obtainedfrom the interpretation of vertical electrical soundings (VES) and used to make cross-sections along geoelectric profiles. As a result of the combined interpretation of geophysical methods and borehole data, the maps of appropriate geological layers were constructed. After identifying the density variation in relation to the resistance diversity of geological complexes, the density and lithological horizontal and vertical boundaries were identified for aquifers and low permeability layers. The boundaries were derived as a GIS spatial data and imported into the regional groundwater flow model for the Biebrza catchment area.
