Opis:
For the development of gas exchange for large diesel engines, a compromise has to be found between efficient valve-flow and the time between overhauls. On the one hand, large effective flow areas, especially during valve-overlap, are demanded. On the other hand, there are limitations of cylinder bore regarding the maximum diameter of inlet and outlet valves and the minimum distance (dead space) between valves and piston, as well as wear-related smaller seat angles. For large medium-speed diesel engines, a valve-seat angle of = ° for inlet and outlet valves is a standard application. For engine-operation with clean fuels, a valve-seat lubrication (gasoil) or smaller seat angles (natural gas) need to be applied. With this presentation, the basic influence of different valve-seat angles on the operation values and emissions will be considered for the example of the single-cylinder research engine FM16/24. Using a self-developed testbed, experimental investigations into effective flow areas as a function of valve-lift at inlet and outlet valves have to be executed. With this input, different cycle calculations including T/C have to be carried out to determine deviances in specific fuel-oil consumption, exhaust-gas temperatures, NOx emissions and air/fuel ratio. The results will be discussed critically.

Opis:
The development of a technology that increases the service life of valve seats in CNG/LNG-powered vehicles requires the appropriate selection of material and the technology of its application. Commercially used valve seat materials show accelerated wear under operating conditions, especially in natural gas vehicle engines. The authors developed a new material concept and a new technological concept for the protection of the valve seat in CNG/LNG-powered vehicles. This article aims to present the first stage of tribological research. Two materials were used in the research: Stellite 6 alloy and Fe3Al intermetal. A commonly used material for valve seats of combustion engines is Stellite 6. The Fe3Al is the new proposed material coating for the protection of the valve seats of internal combustion engines. This article compares the abrasive wear resistance of these materials. The abrasion tests were performed on a T-11 pin-on-disc tester, and the counter-sample was steel S235JR. The test conditions were similar to those prevailing during the operation of the valves in the head of the internal combustion engine, without the influence of temperature. The obtained results indicate that the Fe3Al intermetal is characterized by a lower coefficient of friction and lower wear intensity than Stellite 6. The results confirm that the Fe3Al phase is a prospective material to be used as a protective material on the valve seat of vehicles.

The researches have been carried out, where the object has been the set of two friction couples: valve stem - valve guide and valve seat - seat insert. The camless driven valve has been common for each of such cases. The analyzed valve has been driven by magnetoelectrical drive. The speciał research stand has been elaborated and its scheme has been presented in the article. It has been measured the valve lift and valve acceleration, the impact force, the friction force, temperature values for valve guide and for seat insert, sound level during impacting on the stand. The aim of researches has been to determine the dynamic parameters, the friction force between valve stem and valve guide, the impact force for valve impacting seat insert vs. frequency and valve lift. The analyzed valves have mated with seat inserts and valve guides made of cast iron, in oil absence. The valves have been made of TiAl6Zr4Sn2Mo2 alloy. The researched friction couples have operated in temperature equal 293 K. The increase of frequency has resulted in small changes for values of lift and in greater changes of acceleration, during valve impact into its seat insert. The greatest values of impact force and acceleration have been for the small, middle and high values of valve lift, either. The ratio of impact force and valve acceleration has changed in thin bands. The friction force has decreased slightly with frequency increase and has decreased with valve lift increase. The sound level has increased with the frequency increase, and has not been dependent upon valve lift.

Opis:
Research on the tribological properties of TiAl alloys used for valves mating with valve guides and seat inserts, made of cast iron, has been done. The aim of the research has been to obtain values of the coefficient of friction for such tribological pairs and to simulate the dynamics of the material sample – rotating plate assembly, characteristic used in the research stand. The modified research stand is presented in the article. During research the values of the coefficient of friction, the temperature of sample, the level of sound and the acceleration of material sample were measured. The model of the research stand was for the simulation of the dynamics for the material sample – rotating plate assembly. The plots of the coefficient of friction vs. loading, slide velocity, and the duration of the motion of material sample in respect to the rotating plate are presented in the article. Using simulation results, the values of the damping coefficient were estimated, which allow one to obtain the value for the amplitude of the modelled motion for the material sample in respect to the rotating plate near to the value of the amplitude for the real motion. This estimation allows one to forecast the dynamics of the mentioned assembly for other values of velocity and loading.
Przeprowadzono badania własności tribologicznych stopów TiAl, używanych dla zaworów współpracujących z żeliwnymi prowadnicami i gniazdami. Celem badań było uzyskanie wartości współczynnika tarcia dla tych par ciernych i symulacja dynamiki układu próbka materiału–wirująca tarcza, odpowiadającej wykorzystywanemu stanowisku badawczemu. W artykule przedstawiono zmodyfikowany tribotester typu pin-on-disc. Podczas badań mierzono wartości współczynnika tarcia, temperatury próbki, poziomu hałasu i przyspieszenia próbki materiału, a ich zależności od prędkości, obciążenia i liczby obrotów przedstawiono na wykresach. Opracowano model tribotestera do symulacji parametrów dynamicznych układu próbka materiału–wirująca tarcza. W oparciu o wyniki symulacji oszacowano wartości współczynników tłumienia, pozwalające uzyskać symulowana amplitudę ruchu próbki względem wirującej tarczy zbliżoną do amplitudy rzeczywistego ruchu. Określenie tego współczynnika tłumienia pozwala przewidywać parametry układu przy innych wartościach prędkości i obciążenia.
