Opis:
At the turn of the 21st century Polish agriculture intensively changed as the consequence of: 1) the socio-economic transformation that started in 1989, 2) the general transition from a centrally-planned economy to a market economy and 3) Poland’s accession in 2004 to the European Union. In this paper, we try to describe, in a synthetic way, the spatial heterogeneity of development of agriculture in Poland. For this purpose we identified the types of contemporary Polish agriculture. We applied the measures of global (Moran 1950) and local (LISA) spatial autocorrelation devised by L. Anselin (1995) and used their calculations in classification methods. Our dataset consists of 69 variables and 3,069 spatial units at the LAU2 level. As the result of the analysis we identified 20 types of agriculture in Poland and presented their characteristic features. We have paid particular attention to a spatial distribution of identified types. We concluded that the distribution is not only a result of natural or socio-economic conditions and local spatial relationships, but also to a greater extent is still affected by historical conditions (mainly partitions and changes of borders after the First and Second World Wars).

Opis:
The article deals with one of the problematic issues found in the Matthean entry narrative (21:1-11), namely the reason(s) for introducing two animals into the account. The article provides an extensive discussion of the possible reasons for the biblical authors configuring the narrative in this way, presenting various allegorical, redactional, naturalistic, and intertextual interpretations. The article proposes that the most likely reason for introducing two animals into the narrative is simply to accurately reflect a real historical event – which in fact involved two donkeys. It is also argued that Matthew, as a theologian, was equally interested in demonstrating the fulfillment of Zec 9:9. Further, his narrative was also imbued with allusions to Mosaic as well as Davidic and Solomonic typologies.

Referring to critical statements that have appeared during the last few years, the author discusses ways of commenting on popular literature penned byfemale authors. One may distinguish five types of comments, 1) Appropriation (Aneksja), employed when a popular novel is included in the socially important literature referring to pressing and alarming problems (e.g. domestic violence). 2) Playing with convention (Gra z konwencją), based on pinpointing both grotesque and ironic elements and, above all, metaliterary signals in popular novels. 3) Adherence to tradition (Zgodnie z tradycją), best represented in the secondary literature, either through a poetologic approach (structural analyses) or approaches inspired by feminist criticism. 4) Exhortation to pay close attention (Dobrze się wschłuchać), focused on the approaches suggested by other fields, e.g. how popular women’s literature is read by sociologists. 5) Focus on emotions and excess (Emocje i zbytek), based on emotional and therapeutic research on the perception styles of popular literature. In this case, one focuses not on popular women’s fiction, but on the way it influences the readers’ emotions.

In the period of economic transformation an intensive development of market services in ¸ódê was conducive to creation of their new spatial arrangement. This arrangement, in case of the majority of basic features of market service firms, as well as their workers, stand out- in the cross section of the geodesic areas- by means of enormous spatial differentiation. As a result, the problem of synthetic depiction of different spatial arrangements of such type of variables gains a special meaning. Its solution is enabled by complex spatial typology of market services.

Opis:
The article presents current trends in delimiting an area by function and covers various research issues. The main goal of the work was achieved through the author’s method of delimiting functional areas in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, taking into account social, financial and economic, and spatial and infrastructural criteria. Among all 18 diagnostic features, the following indicators were the most useful: population density, net migration of permanent commune residents per 1000 population, non-working age population per 100 working-age, number of national economy entities on the REGON register per 1000 working-age population, number of dwellings per 1000 inhabitants, and proportion of commune agricultural land to total area. The starting point for creating a fixed classification for communes was the functional typology developed by J. Bański in 2009 at the special request of the Ministry of Regional Development. As a result of the delimitation, the following functional areas in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship were designated: urban (5), diversified urban (7), tourist and spa (2), tourism and recreation (7), agricultural and horticultural (4), agricultural production (22), semi-subsistent smallholdings (30) and multifunctional (25).

Opis:
The main objective of this paper is to represent the hierarchical structure of an environment by using two concepts: typology and regionalization. The Płock Region (1,766.95 sq. km) and transect crossing this area (796.2 sq. km) is the research location. It was divided into 710 individual landscape units (319 in the transect border). The existing physical-geographical regionalization, including macro-, meso- and micro-regions, was elaborated using a deductive (top-down) method, which was supplemented by a more detailed regionalization, obtained by an inductive (bottom-up) method called analysis of borders (Richling 1976). The study area was divided into more detailed sub-regions: first-level regions (87 units), second-level regions (36 units) and third-level regions (9 units). In fact, the landscape structure of third-level regions is similar to micro-regions. This is proof of the complementary nature of the two approaches – deductive and inductive regionalization, and the hierarchical landscape structure.

The present paper analyzes the system of laughter-based interjections (L-INTJs) in Xhosa. By drawing on corpus and fieldwork evidence, the author concludes the following: the systems of L-INTJs consists of five types of constructions built around the segments ha, he, ho, hi, and yha, the satellites te and ti, as well as a number of replicative templates. The pattern hVhVhV with a short vowel is the most productive. Other replicative patterns, patterns involving (extra‑)long vowels, and the pattern tVhV are less productive. Overall, L-INTJs are the canonical members of the interjective category. The presence and range of uses of L-INTJs result from the interjectionalization of laughter-based onomatopoeias or the onomatopoeization of non-laughter-related interjections.

Reduplication as a word formation process is a relatively under-researched phenomenon in English. The aim of the paper, therefore, is to present different types of derivational reduplication ranging from the prototypical type based on exact repetition to the implied reduplication underlying the word formation process in cryptic rhyming slang. The article also strives to overview the typology of English rhyming slang as this is the domain of language where different types of reduplication abound. The article is written within the theoretical framework of sociolinguistics and morphology and offers ample citational evidence to substantiate theoretical assumptions.

Opis:
Both security sciences and security studies have traditionally mainly focused on the state as the most important security subject; however, as anthropology of security and the idea of human security assert, it is the security of a human individual that should be highlighted as well. The authors start from discussing the typologies of threat and security. This leads them to focusing on the idea of human security, a concept first proposed by researchers and then taken up by international organizations. The concept of human security, combined with anthropology of security, constitutes a scientific basis for the shift from the state-centric to the anthropocentric approach to security. The authors corroborate this stance by discussing a range of definitions of the concept of security, which focus on either more general or more specific aspects of security. They favour the more universal understanding of the concept and conclude that security, being the same type of anthropological social construct as other humane values such as beauty, happiness, love, etc., and a phenomenon relating to a great extent to the quality of human existence, should possess its universal essence.

Opis:
The purpose of the text is to highlight the need to reinstate the rational attitude towards contemporary city planning and architecture. A number of studies and projects about the city today are focused mainly on different types of transformations, leading to “cutting-edge” urban configurations that would ultimately deal with current and future problems. However, these often seem to lack traditional, cultural, psychological and social awareness. And yet, human perception and comprehension of the city is mainly based on its traditional images, memories and connotations. There are still some attempts made to approach a rational balance between old and new, traditional and modern, of purely formal and purely functional, of beautiful and progressive aspects of the city. This text carries out a case study of the IJburg district of Amsterdam as a splendid example of contemporary development, that may help in discussion of the role and critical potential of traditional urban building typology in the transformation process of cities and territories, that lead to new urban configurations. The conclusions presented in this text, based on analysis of the project of IJburg, focuses on the use of urban and architectural types, from the past, as design tools that can still provide extraordinary, creative and instrumental possibilities, acting as carriers of cultural meaning and identity.
