Opis:
When considering the issue of the functioning of small water reservoirs, the attempt to assess changes in trophy of small retention reservoir located in Wasilkow, Podlasie, before and after remediation, was carried out. Water samples tests were carried out once a month from April 2007 to March 2008, from April 2009 to March 2010 (before remediation), and from April 2013 to March 2014 (after removal of silt). Prior to works related to the reservoir remediation, a gradual increase in the number of tested contaminants and disturbances in the seasonal occurrence of nitrogen and phosphorus compounds were observed. Advanced eutrophic processes in Wasilków reservoir occur probably due to the supply of large amounts of humic and biogenic substances from the catchment, because a significant percentage of its area is covered by forests and agricultural lands. The development of the trophic status of the reservoir is largely influenced by the amount of phosphorus and total nitrogen supplied to the reservoir; the least affected by chlorophyll “a”. Comparing the analyses performed in 2007/2008 and 2009/2010, a slight, but growing trend of average trophic levels of water in the basin Wasilków was found. Studies conducted in 2013/2014 revealed a significant decrease in the concentrations of all analyzed pollutants, and hence lower TSI values. It can be concluded that the reclamation associated with the removal of sediments brought the expected results.

The study research phenomenon of trophies in digital games. It starts from the analysis of the trophy hunter and trophy community constructs. The phenomenon of collecting trophies in digital games and its impact on gamers, but also on the gaming experience, is researched. The trophy concept is a paradox because it simultaneously creates gamers who choose games according to the difficulty of the trophy, and play games they do not like because of the easiness of the trophy. The aim of the paper is to investigate, present and analyse the phenomenon of trophies in digital games from cultural, anthropological, and marketing aspects. Collecting trophies was observed in the context of the phenomenon of narcissistic culture according to Lasch’s theory. Also, the study draws a parallel between the phenomenon of trophies as a reward for gamers, but also the development of niche marketing. Trophy hunters represent a more detailed segmentation of consumers who we understand as brand ambassadors for digital games. Also, trophy hunters encourage each other to collect trophies and thus shape gamers. To obtain a precise insight into the phenomenon of trophies and trophy subculture, the method of virtual ethnography was used.

Opis:
In 1970-2010, during the period of spring circulation and summer stagnation, hydrochemical studies were conducted in Lake Ińsko (Western Pomeranian Lake Region, Poland) with determination of the lake susceptibility to degradation and trophic changes. Also, the effect of the catchment area on the water quality in this waterbody was assessed. The waters of the study lake were characterised by low static index, which is an additional indicator of low dynamics of water masses, and low susceptibility to degradation. In spite of this, significant changes in the lake quality and trophy were observed. The hydrochemical parameters defining water quality of the study lake continued to improve. In the 70’s, the water quality was at the border of class II and III, while in 2006 and 2010 it reached the level characteristic for class I waters. Moreover, in the 70’s and 80’s of the previous century, Lake Ińsko Duże was a mesotrophic lake. Then, an increase in the lake trophy was observed, resulting in signs of eutrophy. At the end of the 90’s and in the first decade of the 21st century, the study lake returned to the state of mesotrophy. No restoration works were undertaken in Lake Ińsko in the study period. The improvement in water quality, called oligotrophication, resulted most probably from the lake reaction to changes in the soil use in the catchment area, since fewer phosphorus and nitrogen compounds flow into the lake, and also from the regulation of the wastewater management in the town of Ińsko.

Opis:
This study focused on site-specific preferences of potentially harmful cyanobacterium Gloeotrichia echinulata to occur in lakes with different ecological and trophic conditions. Its pelagic growth was studied in six lakes from June to September in 1986-1988, 2000-2001 and 2009. In total, 78 samples were taken from the epilimnion (stratified lakes) or the whole water column (non-stratified lakes). Analyses of phytoplankton and environmental variables were performed according to standard methods. During summer, a distinct maximum of the Gloeotrichia growth was observed in July or August (the warmest period). Bloom events of G. echinulata occurred in lakes where the light and oxygen conditions were significantly inferior while the phosphorus content remained on a slightly elevated level. The distinct domination of this cyanobacterium (above 40% of the total phytoplankton biomass) was limited to lakes with a high, moderate or even poor ecological status, and to the meso-eutrophic or eutrophic state of lakes. However, G. echinulata occurred in a broader range of ecological and trophic conditions of lakes. The historical approach to mass occurrence of G. echinulata, with its possible contribution to phosphorus translocation from sediment to the pelagic zone, suggested its importance as an indicator of progressive ecological and trophic deterioration of lakes. This indication should be very useful for establishment of main targets in water management.

Opis:
The research concerned the Wapienica dam reservoir, which is located in the Polish Carpathians, near the city of Bielsko-Biala. The dam closes the flow of water from the 11.1 km2 catchment. The forests cover about 90% of the catchment area, while the rest of the catchment constitutes grassland areas. The reservoir has a capacity of 1.05 million m3. The collected water is intended for supplying a water supply system. The catchment is treated as semi-natural, because within its borders the only works related to forest management are carried out. The aim of the research was evaluation of the water quality in this reservoir, including trophic status, based on the analyses carried out in 2015. It was found that the water was of good quality in basic physicochemical terms (e.g. suspension ≤13 mg∙dm-3,CODCr ≤11 mgO2∙dm-3, conductivity ≤82 µS∙cm-1, phosphates <0.05 mg∙dm-3, nitrates ≤5.1 mg∙dm-3, dissolved iron ≤0.12 mg∙dm-3). The contamination with heavy metals was not ascertained, with the exception of the zinc. The assessed sanitary indicators are worse – the bacteria of the Coli group and periodically also enterococci were observed in the reservoir water. The reservoir is not homogeneous in terms of biological production (the trophy degree). It is low in the upper part (oligotrophy generally) and increases in the part near the dam (mesotrophy, also eutrophy). The established presence of dangerous bacteria and symptoms of the reservoir eutrophication are disturbing in the context of the opinion on the purity of uninhabited mountain areas.

Opis:
Littoral zone is the first zone of the lake, which directly borders the land and is a barrier to substances flowing from the catchment. It can play an important role in the productivity of the entire ecosystem, with both production and degradation of organic carbon. The aim of this study was to determine the role of phytoplankton in primary production and respiration in the littoral zone, depending on the development of the basin. The research was conducted in the spring, summer and autumn at eight sites of littoral zone with a different level of the direct catchment area development: two sites (1, 2) in the western part of the lake, which is dominated by forests, three sites (3, 4, 5) in the northern part of the basin, dominated by wasteland and private recreational areas, two sites (6, 7) in the eastern, the most transformed by man and one site (8) located in the southern part of the lake near the outflow. The production volume of the primary and respiration were determined by the change of the oxygen concentration in water using the method of "light and dark bottles" exposed for 24 hours in the surface layer of water. The lake primary production was significantly lower in the littoral parts shaded by forest than in sites exposed to the sun, occurring in the northern part of the lake. The highest primary production with simultaneously high phytoplankton biomass was found at the site in the north. The additional factor intensifying the primary production was the nutrient inflow from the recreationally used land. The highest rate of respiration was recorded in not forested sites, located in the northeastern part of the lake, where the autochthonic and allochtonic organic matter was reduced to CO2. The results indicate a dual role of littoral in the metabolism of Lake Kortowskie. On the one hand, the littoral zone supplies the basin in autochthonic organic matter, on the other hand reduces the organic matter which was produced in the water column and was supplied from the catchment. One suspects that the actual primary production in the littoral zone of Lake Kortowskiego was higher because a significant cover the bottom of the macrophytes limited primary production of phytoplankton.

Opis:
W pracy podjęto temat samooczyszczania wód w kaskadach zbiorników wodnych. Przedstawiono wyniki badań hydrobiologicznych trzech zbiorników zaporowych (Tresna, Porąbka i Czaniec), tworzących kaskadę rzeki Soły.
In this thesis the subject of water self-purification in cascade systems of water reservoirs was engaged. The results of hydrobiological research of three dam reservoirs (Tresna, Porąbka and Czaniec), creating the Soła river dam cascade were presented. The trophic status of these reservoirs was defined on the grounds of the concentration of chlorophyll a, biomass of phytoplankton and occurrence of indicating species of planktonic algae. The results of research indicated on decreasing of water trophy in the layout from the highest into the lowest reservoir of the cascade. The average concentrations of chlorophyll a amounted appropriately 19,99 μg∙dm-3, 8,74 μg∙dm -3 and 4,29 μg∙dm-3, instead the average biomass of phytoplankton amounted appropriately 4,1 mg∙dm-3, 3,4 mg∙dm-3 and 0,1 mg∙dm-3. The observed species of algae confirmed occurrence of differences between reservoirs. In Tresna reservoir more species of phytoplankton indicating for eutrophy were thrived, instead in Porąbka and Czaniec reservoirs the species occurring in oligomesotrophic water thrived. Water self-purification in the Soła river dam cascade expressed decreasing of their fertility is important for water management of the region, because the Czaniec reservoir fulfill a function of water-supply reservoir.

Opis:
Soft water lakes are mostly acid, poor in minerals and have a lot of free CO2 in their water and bottom sediments. So called Lobelia lakes, containing Lobelia dortmanna L., Isoëtes lacustris L., and Littorella uniflora (L.) Ascherson, are a type of soft water lakes. These species are rare in Poland and in Europe mainly because of eutrophication and anthropopression. Lobelia lakes and ecology of isoetids were described in many scientific articles, but their history is poorly recognised. Thus, for some years palaeoecological research has been done in the Tuchola Pinewoods to reveal the time of migration, spreading and development of Lobelia lakes. Pollen analysis and diatom analysis were done for the sediments of lakes: Nierybno, Okoń Duży, Linowskie, Moczadło and Nawionek (Fig. 1). Content of plant remains of Lobelia dortmanna nad Isoëtes lacustris, fossil diatoms and Pediastrum indicates phases of low and high trophy of Lake Nierybno (Fig. 5). The highest trophy was found in the Younger Dryas, in the middle Boreal Period and the oldest time of Subboreal Period. The lowest trophy was observed at the beginning of the Holocene, in the Atlantic Period and in modern times. Low trophy of the lake is related to acid or neutral pH of the water. Reconstruction of the lake history based on diatom analysis shows two main phases of the Nierybno ecosystem existence. In the early stages of the lake’s development it was an eutrophic basin with elevated pH. At the beginning of the Atlantic Period the pH decreased and content of nutrients in the water was reduced. Navicula radiosa, N. leptostriata and N. heimansioides, species typical for Lobelia lakes have been present since then. Generally Lobelia lakes are well preserved in the Tuchola Pinewoods due to low anthropopression and conservation activity of the Tuchola Pinewoods National Park and the Zaborski Landscape Park.

Opis:
In the vegetation season April–October 2011, the quality of surface water of the Turkusowe Lake in the Wolin National Park on the Wolin Island was investigated. Water samples for analysis were drawn at two sampling stations situated in the north-eastern and the north-western part of the lake. The following water parameters were determined: temperature, pH, total alkalinity, total acidity and dissolved O2 concentration and water saturation by O2, COD-Cr, COD-Mn and BOD5, concentrations of NO3 , NO2 , NH4 +, TN, SRP, TP and reactive SiO2, as well as concentrations of Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl, SO42–, and total concentrations of Fe and Mn. It was shown that the investigated waters at both sampling stations differed in the abundance of colloidal matter and suspended organic matter, with very similar abundance of dissolved matter, and were those with relatively low trophy level (mesotrophy), in which weak phytoplankton blooms occurred. Only during the phytoplankton bloom in July, the analysed waters were saturated by O2 to 110 %, being clearly oxygen-deficient in other study times, which is evidence of the prevalence of dissimilation processes over assimilation in the body of surface water.
W sezonie wegetacyjnym kwiecień–październik 2011 r. badano jakość wód powierzchniowych jeziora Turkusowego w Wolińskim Parku Narodowym na wyspie Wolin. Próbki wód do badań czerpano w miejscu dwóch stacji w północno-wschodniej i w północno-zachodniej części jeziora.
