In the paper were presented threats happen to special and transportation vehicles while task performing within the confines of peace forcing and keeping missions on world areas threatened by conflicts and that could be areas of unitfuture actions. Based on available materials and authors results of numerical and experimental tests, effects of various explosive charges action on special vehicles were presented. Such explosive charges could be used during fighting in urban and mountainous areas as well as other with limited area. Were presented directions of research and development leading to increase protection level for people, inside special and transportation vehicle, against combat agents characteristic for peace keeping and stabilization missions that could be used also while warfare. In the paper were presented numerical model of protection structure, which were worked out on the basis of the Finite Element Method. There are presented some results of experimental and modelling tests of after blast shock wave action on armoured shell and prepared protection structures for special and transportation vehicles. The maximum deformations of research objects and stress in construction were put. The comparisons of results for numerical and experimental researches were introduced. Protecting structure was loaded by shock wave pressure generated by hypothetical unconventional explosive charge (improvise explosive device or non-contact mine). In the paper were also made effort to point at possibility and necessity to choose the most effective parameters of structure for protected part of combat vehicle against potential threats.

W pracy przedstawiono zagrożenia dla pojazdów specjalnych i transportowych spotykane podczas wykonywania zadań w ramach misji wymuszania i utrwalania pokoju w regionach świata zagrożonych konfliktami, a mogącymi być obszarami przyszłego działa wojska. Na podstawie dostępnych materiałów i własnych wyników badań numerycznych i eksperymentalnych przedstawiono efekty oddziaływania różnych ładunków materiału wybuchowego na pojazdy specjalne. Ładunki takie mogą występować podczas walk w terenie zurbanizowanym i górzystym oraz innym o ograniczonej powierzchni. Przedstawiono kierunki prac badawczych i rozwojowych prowadzące w efekcie do podwyższenia poziomu ludzi w pojazdach specjalnych i transportowych przed środkami bojowymi, charakterystycznymi dla działań pokojowych i misji stabilizacyjnych, ale mogące występować również w działaniach bojowych. Przedstawiono wybrane rezultaty badań eksperymentalnych i modelowych oddziaływania powybuchowych fal uderzeniowych na nadwozie i opracowane struktury ochronne dla pojazdów specjalnych i transportowych. Strukturę ochronną obciążano ciśnieniem fali uderzeniowej generowanej hipotetycznym niekonwencjonalnym ładunkiem wybuchowym (improwizowanym ładunkiem wybuchowym - IED lub miną niekontaktową). W pracy podjęto również próbę wskazania możliwości oraz konieczność doboru najefektywniejszych parametrów struktury dla ochranianych części pojazdu bojowego przed potencjalnym zagrożeniem

Events and hazardous situations in road transport, breakdowns and even disasters during the transport of dangerous goods, pose a potential threat to human life and health, to the people working in the transport - drivers and the natural environment. This article presents some problems concerning the transport of dangerous goods on the basis of statistical data. The Author defines the risk in transport, as an indicator of the state or event that may lead to losses. The types of risks and their levels in road transport are specified herein. The key point in the article is the identification of hazards and safety factors of the driver’s work in the system of road traffic in the own assessment of the author. The article ends by an overall picture of risks in the road transport of dangerous goods.
Zdarzenia i sytuacje niebezpieczne w transporcie drogowym, awarie a nawet katastrofy podczas transportu towarów niebezpiecznych, stwarzają potencjalne zagrożenie dla życia i zdrowia ludzi, osób pracujących w transporcie – kierowców oraz środowiska naturalnego. W artykule przedstawiono wybrane problemy dotyczące transportu drogowego towarów niebezpiecznych w oparciu o dane statystyczne. Autor definiuje ryzyko w transporcie, jako wskaźnik stanu lub zdarzenia, które może prowadzić do strat. Określa rodzaje ryzyka i ich poziomy w transporcie drogowym. Kluczowa w artykule jest identyfikacja zagrożeń i czynniki bezpieczeństwa pracy kierowcy w systemie ruchu drogowego w ocenie własnej autora. Various intelligent transportation systems are proposed in different forms of wireless communication technologies. Recently, the importance of visible light communication and free-space optics has been demonstrated in accomplishing vehicle-to-vehicle and infrastructure-to-vehicle communication systems, due to power efficiency, free licenses, and safety for human health. In this paper, a new hybrid relay system supported by free-space optics/visible light communication with two scenarios is proposed. The first one is that the data are transferred from the source to the relay through a free-space optics communication link and are then directed to the destination through a visible light communication link. The second scenario is that the data are transmitted from the source to the destination passing through two different relays to ensure larger coverage. A 10‾⁶ bit error rate is achieved at a distance of 900 m for the first scenario with a remarkable signal-to-noise ratio of ~25.5 dB, while the largest distance that can be covered by the second scenario is 1200 m with a signalto- noise ratio of ~30 dB.

In the current research, we surveyed the effective factors of accidents that had occurred on the road from Hamadan to Sanandaj. Road transportation is an inseparable part and the backbone of all transportation networks of most countries. Driving accidents are considered the major problem of road transportation and the increment process of accidents is so that it has reached crisis proportions. Basically, in road accidents, three factors are considered to be of importance: human activity, road and vehicle condition. The current research is a field study in the terms of data collection method and is considered to be Applied Research in the terms of purpose (or objective) and studied subject nature. The study population consists of suburban public transport fleet drivers working the Sanandaj - Hamadan road (26 persons). The tool was a questionnaire. In order to analyze the statistical data, the resulting information from the questionnaires were firstly extracted and then analysed by applying the Pearson correlation test. The results show that there is a clear relationship between the effective factors of accidents and road accidents.

Transport pertains to all functional areas of the State’s activities on every administrative level. Road transport is a very important branch of global economy and constitutes a part of the logistics network. It pertains to the transportation of cargo, items, and people. Cooperation between the branches of civilian transportation and military logistics must be the focus of continuous improvement efforts. Enhancements in this respect can serve to avoid possible failures and disruptions. The quality and availability of infrastructure plays a significant role, not only with respect to civilian, but also military assets. The condition of the vehicle is important for the safety of road transport. The provision of transport services in a military unit should mainly rely on military-civilian cooperation and effective communications. The condition of the means of transportation has been indicated as a factor influencing transport safety. Employing new technology and solutions enables constant improvements to the diagnostic system, broadening the knowledge and enhancing the skills of the motor vehicle driver in terms of proficiency in operating and maintaining the vehicle used.

An Intelligent transportation system (ITS) focuses on application of smart vehicles. The vehicles are equipped with significant computing, communicating and sensing capabilities to provide services to travelers or the goal of providing safety massages in emergency situations. Vehicular network may also be used for Internet access, inter-passengers communications and entertainment. To understand the behavior of such networks as well as to provide good services to the travelers many issues have to be managed, some of them are: call handover between vehicles in vehicular network, speed Vs capacity, security of call, network topology, and network fragmentation. In this paper we study such vehicular networks and explain these issues and the related work. Detailed study of practical node mobility models based on mobility states and the quality of practical links based on received signal strengths are used as inputs for system capacity studies. Experiments were run in Sydney based on drive tests with mobile terminals deployed on them. Then some new ideas for managing the vehicular networks are proposed.

Commonly, public transit agencies, with a view toward efficiency, aim at minimizing the number of vehicles in use to meet passenger demand, and therefore at reducing crew cost. This work contributes to achieving these two objectives by proposing the use of two predominant characteristics of public-transit operations planning: (a) different resource requirements between peak and off-peak periods, and (b) working during irregular hours. These characteristics result in split duties (shifts) with unpaid in-between periods. The outcome of this work is an optimal solution for maximizing the unpaid shift periods with the assurance of complying with the minimum number of vehicles attained. The optimization problem utilizes a highly informative graphical technique (deficit function) for finding the least number of vehicles; this enables the construction of vehicle chains (blocks) that take into account maximum unpaid shift periods. The latter consideration is intended to help construct crew schedules at minimum cost. The methodology developed was implemented by two large bus companies and resulted in a significant cost reduction.

Forest roads are characterized by low traffic, but heavy timber haulage trucks have a significant influence on road conditions and usually exceed the limit of 80–100 kN per axle. The excessive weight of the trucks degrades the road surface and the forest environment. This article presents the results of a study of timber transport loads from their places of acquirement (forest districts) to the recipient (a large sawmill). The analysis includes the parameters of the timber transport vehicles and focuses especially on the gross vehicle weight (GVW), the total weight of empty truck and trailer during transport, and the weight of their loads. Scania, Iveco, Man, and Mercedes trucks with trailers and semitrailers designed for large-size pine timber transport were analyzed. ANOVA results revealed that all 80 analyzed vehicles exceeded the permitted GVW in the range from 2.28 to 19.94 Mg, transporting from 20.1 to 37.5 m3 of timber. The coefficient of determination between the amount of hauled timber and the GVW equaled 62.7%. Research conducted previously concluded that forest roads with ground and gravel surfaces are not suitable for overloads of 120–150 kN per axle. Therefore, it is necessary to find a logistical solution that will allow the load volume to be maintained at an acceptable level without destroying the forest road surface.

Over 50 billion US dollars had been invested into autonomous vehicles (AV) technology in 2013-2017. Driverless cars of the level 4 and 5 are forecasted to be in mass production after 2028 and the annual direct and indirect social and economic input of the AV technology is estimated to be over US $1.8-2.8 trillion in 2030. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the geographic structure of AV startup ecosystem, which is considered as one of the most significant disruptive and game-changing innovations of the nearest decades. The geographic analysis was carried out for 265 AV tech companies and startups, working on solutions to the following problem areas: services, infrastructure, in-car assistance and intelligence, safety, security, autonomy, sensors, materials and manufacturing. The key findings outline that the USA is the leader on the innovative AV market ecosystem (accounting for 57% of all startups) with the highest concentration near San Francisco Bay Area Core (more than 27% of all startups), followed up with a significant gap by Israel, India, UK and Canada. The main factors that define the level of readiness for autonomous vehicles, and, thus, the geography of diffusion of AVs innovation are regulatory and legislative environment, level of transportation and communication infrastructure development and public perception.

W niniejszym artykule poruszono kwestię braku uregulowań prawnych zawierających zasady, których stosowanie zapewniałoby zachowanie bezpieczeństwa podczas przekraczania linii kolejowych przy przewozie ładunków ponadgabarytowych, wymagających wykorzystywania pojazdów nienormatywnych. Sformułowano ogólne zasady zapewniające bezpieczeństwo w takich przypadkach. Wskazano potrzebę pilnego usunięcia błędnych zapisów w obowiązujących przepisach. Problem zilustrowano opisem wypadku, do którego doszło na przejeździe kolejowym przy przewozie ładunku ponadgabarytowego.
Lack of legal regulations dealing with provisions whose application will ensure safety while crossing railway lines during transportation of oversized load requiring the use of non-standardized vehicles is described in the article. General rules ensuring safety in such a case are formulated. The urgent need to eliminate incorrect rules in binding law is highlighted. The description of an accident which occurred on a level crossing during transportation of oversized load is illustrating the issue.

The paper describes an attempt of using magnetic detectors as an effective alternative to existing vehicle detection systems, which are a key factor in intelligent transportation systems (ITS). The detectors created within the project use the phenomenon of anisotropic magnetoresistance to report about the appearance of vehicles on the basis of Earth's local magnetic field distortion caused by them passing. This paper presents utilized and developed technologies, advantages and disadvantages of magnetic detection in comparison to other detection systems and problems that arose during the project implementation.
Artykuł opisuje próbę zastosowania czujników magnetycznych jako skutecznej alternatywy dla istniejących systemów detekcji pojazdów w ruchu ulicznym, będących kluczowym czynnikiem inteligentnych systemów transportowych (ITS – Intelligent Transportation Systems). Czujniki stworzone w ramach projektu wykorzystują zjawisko magnetooporu anizotropowego do raportowania o pojawieniu się pojazdu na podstawie zakłóceń, jakie wywołuje on w lokalnym polu magnetycznym Ziemi. Praca prezentuje wykorzystane i stworzone technologie, wady i zalety detekcji magnetycznej na tle innych systemów detekcyjnych oraz problemy, które wyniknęły przy implementacji projektu.

Relevance of the study: As the experience of advanced countries shows, the development of the economy in our country, in particular, in the transportation services market, is associated with the development of interaction between all types of transport. Thus, in modern conditions, for the growth of the role of railway transport, multimodal transportation, which is important for the interaction of Ukraine with the countries of Europe and the East, is becoming important and will also help minimize costs and preserve the environment. Therefore, the issues of evaluating the introduction of multimodal transportation with logistic principles are discussed in the article. It is shown how to determine the marginal substitution rate in the conveyance type while using various modes of transport, based on the utility function and transportation costs. Purpose of the study: The purpose of the article is to develop measures to improve the functioning of parts in multimodal freight delivery routes by minimizing transportation costs, taking into account quality indicators. For this purpose, the following tasks have been set and are being solved: to develop a model for evaluating the efficiency of using different modes of transport with optimal costs; to choose a method for estimating the optimal delivery route and freight volumes; to evaluate the efficiency of transportation technology based on a qualimetric indicator. Approaches: An approach to a comprehensive evaluation of the effect from the activities of transport enterprises in multimodal transportation based on cost optimization, with the qualimetric indicator, and aimed at maximizing the satisfaction of shippers' requirements is offered when determining the route of such transportation parameters as the cost and the quality of freight delivery. Results: The results of the theoretical generalization and analysis of approaches to the formalization of the functioning process in multimodal transportation systems for the delivery of goods by rail and road modes of transport are presented in the article. The significance of the results. The materials in the article are of practical value for employees of transport and logistics companies and enterprises, scientists, and pedagogical workers to improve their professional level.
