Opis:: The paper presents possibilities of application of genetic algorithms in design of public transport network. Transportation tasks such as determination of optimal routes and timetable for means of transport belong to difficult complex optimization problems, therefore they cannot be solved using traditional search algorithms. It turns out that genetic algorithms can be very useful to solve these transportation problem.

Opis:: Omówiono problemy transportowe występujące w dużych miastach, historię wykorzystywania tramwajów towarowych do przewozu ładunków (Drezno, Zurych i Wiedeń) oraz projekt wykorzystania tramwaju towarowego w Monachium. Przedstawiono zalety i wady takich rozwiązań oraz wskazano, że istnieje możliwość zastosowania takiego transportu w Polsce.
Transportation problems appearing in big cities, history of applications of freight trams (Dresden, Zurich, Vienna) and project of application of freight tram in Munich are described. Advantages and disadvantages of such solutions are presented and possibilities of applications of that kind of transport in Poland indicated.

Opis:: W artykule zaprezentowano dane na temat funkcjonowania dużych centrów handlowych w miastach, uzyskane z polskich i obcojęzycznych źródeł literatury oraz badań realizowanych w Polsce i za granicą. Pozwalają one na zapoznanie się z podstawową wiedzą na temat zachowań klientów oraz uwarunkowaniami oferty parkingowej wielkopowierzchniowych obiektów handlowych. Przedstawiono także charakterystyki ruchu generowanego przez tego typu obiekty i opisano potencjalny wpływ tego ruchu na przyległy układ komunikacyjny.
The article presents essential information on functioning of large-sized shopping centers in cities, published in Polish and world literature as well as research carried out in Poland and in the foreign countries. Presented issues allow to get acquainted with basic knowledge on customers behavior, question’s related to determining parking space, characteristics of the traffic generated by shopping centers and its impact on the adjacent transportation system.

From the introduction: "The traveling salesman problem is a problem of combinatorial type. Although problems of this type sometimes have a relatively simple formulation, there are many difficulties associated with their solution even when the most up-to-date computers are used. In the 1970s many papers have been devoted to this problem. The purpose of the vast majority of them has been to find more effective solution algorithms. "In this paper we give the solution of the traveling salesman problem via disjunctive graphs. Up to now the elements of disjunctive graphs have been used to solve problems connected with the determination of an optimal task completion sequence.''

Opis:: The terminology and conceptual apparatus of modern logistics as a scientific discipline is far from being shaped. Researches and developers of legislative and norm-setting documents are obliged to use their own or barrowed terminology, in both case not shared ubiquitously. Consequently, the interpretations even of basic concepts differ significantly. In particular, there exists an academic and practical point of view that refuse the right for existence of the term “transportation logistics”. This clause is explained by the proclaimed omnipresence and universality of logistics, which has in its operational glossary the term “transportation”, treated as a local, subordinated and thus secondary function. This paper tries to set a decisive rule to distinguish between general logistics and transportation logistics, arguing that these two disciplines are well separated by the objects and methodology, knowledge and activities. In transportation logistics defined this way the authors examine two principal components of the transportation processes, storage (warehousing) and movement (shipping). This consideration lead to conclusions that the classical mathematical toolkit is not fitted for the design and management of modern global supply chains.
