The paper presents links between transport accessibility and participation in activities, poverty and transport related social exclusion. First, the literature review of research conducted in various countries is presented. Then available statistical and transport data, which may be relevant in assessment of the above mentioned linkage in Poland, is analyzed.

Transportation and delivery play a vital role in the economy, an efficient transportation system has a determining role in it. Its importance is far more significant than what the transportation sectors proportionally represent. The ratio of transportation and warehousing, which belongs to the national economy sector H according to Unified Sectoral Clas-sification System of Economic Activities, in the total output of the Hungarian economy in gross added value of the national economy is 5.7%, its share in employment is 5.9%, and about 5% of active enterprises can be found in this sector (2010 data).

The Turkish Merchant Shipping Industry has recently witnessed an increasing awareness of the importance to minimize environmental pollution and fuel oil consumption. Together with certain non-governmental organizations and media concerns about environmental protection, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has been strict on controlling undesirable effects on the environment and, consequently, forcing shipping companies to minimize their emissions. Besides, today’s highly advanced technology companies over the world have developed various innovative systems that can be utilized to minimize carbon emission, thus giving assurance to relevant investors that their investments are most likely to turn out well with a considerable financial gain in the short or long term. Despite all such favorable developments, in a general look, shipping companies seem reluctant in making use of technologies providing efficiency in energy consumption. This reluctance has eventually brought about the term “Energy Efficiency Gap”. This research conducts a questionnaire, created by Acciaro et al. [1], among the shipping companies in Turkey. 20 respondent companies, who represent 26 percent of the Turkish owned merchant marine fleet of over 1000 gross tonnage in terms of deadweight cargo capacity, participated in the research. The Pearson correlation analysis was used, and interpretations were made according to the obtained statistical values. The aim of the research was to identify reasons and points restraining the use of new technologies regarding energy efficiency, as well as to develop proposals for the innovators in this field about how to overcome this handicap concerning technical and managerial aspects of gaining energy efficiency.

This study is aimed at improving the methods of carriage of passengers by urban transport to improve its reliability and efficiency. It can be achieved by forming back-up bus routes within the existing regular route network for servicing mass passenger-flows. This study theoretically substantiates the impact of back-up bus routes inthe current regular route network on the reliability and efficiency of the transport process. Mathematical models of reservation of regular route network and the assessment of the reliability of passenger transport using different reservation schemes are suggested. Methodological recommendations on the formation of passenger traffic on back-up bus routes and cost reduction on its maintenance, by managing the route speed depending on the loading of the city road network, have been developed. Technical and economic evaluation was conducted to the developed methodological toolkit.

Opis:
Development and implementation of various projects focused on improving standards of energy efficiency and rational use of energy carriers is a priority for numerous enterprises and companies. Modern shipping devotes sufficient attention to improving the environmental performance of the fleet. As part of the strategy to improve environmental safety and energy efficiency, as well as to reduce air and marine pollution in industries, including maritime transport and shipping, a set of steps to improve the ship's energy efficiency is being implemented. This process is carried out in various ways, however, at the same time maintaining the economic indicators of fleet operation. Relevant is the research aimed at analyzing the introduction of energy management systems in the maritime transport and summarizing the experience of operating the ships, which allows to identify a number of proposals, the implementation of which allows to maintain the economic efficiency of transportation. The article offers a review of the main energy efficiency tools and ways to ensure the transport efficiency of existing ships without modernization by operating them at reduced speeds and fuel consumption and thereby minimizing carbon emissions, as well as developing a set of measures to improve the environmental efficiency of cargo transportation.

Intelligent transportation systems mostly operate on information exchange principle between vehicles and roadside infrastructure. They are commonly regarded as a base technology for persistent diminution of road accidents and traffic efficiency increase. However, intelligent transportation systems can also be used at all levels of transportation systems as a basis for stable development of cities, enterprises, regions, states, continents. According to the research, the existing intelligent transportation systems not only provide the considerable reduction of greenhouse gases emissions, fuel saving, time of travel cutting, but they don’t marginalize citizens’ mobility as well. Thus, the further development and introduction of modern transportation innovative technologies will allow to guarantee the power- and resources efficiency and, therefore, the sustainable development of the whole society.

W artykule omówiono znaczenie transportu załogi do i z rejonów wydobywczych, aktualnie stosowane sposoby transportu oraz zagadnienia związane z wprowadzeniem do stosowania0 nowego rozwiązania technicznego jakim jest mechaniczne urządzenia dla lokalnego, rewersyjnego przemieszczania załogi. Podkreślono rolę jaką spełniają wszelkie urządzenia wpływające na zmniejszenie wysiłku w trakcie dotarcia pracownika do miejsca wykonywanej pracy. Wskazano na możliwości dalszego rozwoju układów transportu opartego na mechanicznym urządzenia dla lokalnego, rewersyjnego przemieszczania załogi oraz konieczność poszukiwania innych innowacyjnych sposobów przemieszczania załogi w kopalniach.
In this paper the meaning of underground crew transportation to and from mining areas was discussed, as well as current underground means of transport and issues of introducing a new mechanical device for local reverse crew transportation. The role of all devices reducing labour during getting to worksite was emphasized. The possibilities of further progress of local reverse crew transportation systems and need of searching other innovative ways of crew transportation was pointed out.

Opis:
A mathematical model for control by transient modes of gas flows in the long-distance gas pipeline is considered in the paper. The long-distance pipeline is considered in the model as the system of Line segments serially connected via compressor stations. Gas motion in such system is described by the non-linear system of equations of gas dynamics. In the frame of this model the integral parameters which determine the expenditure of energy and durations of the transient mode are introduced. These parameters can be used for formulation the problems for optimal control steady-state and transient modes of operation of main-gas pipelines.

There are various definitions of efficiency of transport and different methods of measurement. This makes it difficult to measure and carry out benchmarking assessment of different modes. This paper presents proposals for measuring the efficiency of transport systems, taking as criteria: travel time, energy consumption, material use, impact on environment, affordability and accessibility. Based on these criteria, a benchmarking analysis of road and air transport was carried out. A new proposal for general definition of efficiency of transport is presented.

Przeanalizowano problemy eksploatacji środków transportu oraz ekonomiczne wskaźniki oceny efektywności procesu eksploatacji. Omówiono techniki komputerowe w utrzymaniu ruchu środków transportu.
In the article the problem of optimization of the exploitation processes in transportation companies is presented. It analyzes the processes of operation modes and shows the important problems to be solved. The result of this analysis is division the exploitation process to particular processes, that gives more important problems exacting solutions. Optimization methods have been analyzed to improve the efficiency of transport processes. Computer techniques have been discussed in the maintenance of the means of transport.
