    Opis:
    The recently deceased George Steiner was one of the leading contemporary comparativists and philosophers of literature. One of the most important themes of his book from the 1970s, After Babel: Aspects of Language and Translation, is the claim about the identity of understanding and translation. The concept of the hermeneutic act as a translation, spokesmen for which are modern humanists and researchers, such as Steiner and also Hans-Georg Gadamer, Paul Ricoeur, Zygmunt Bauman or Jacques Derrida, in their various variants seems to have significant potential for general pedagogy and philosophy of education and generate interesting impulses for educational practice and education research. In the article, referring to the translational turn, the thought and tradition of Judaism and Steiner’s original approach to understanding, I analyse and discuss the premises of his basic claim and study the consequences and draw conclusions from Steiner’s concept for the theory and practice of education.

    Śledząc rozwój interdyscyplinarnych analiz gospodarki kreatywnej w refleksji społeczeństw zachodnich, tekst stawia pytanie o specyfikę implementacji tej idei w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej. Autor konfrontuje mitologię przemysłów kreatywnych ze złożonym kontekstem społecznym i politycznym krajów regionu oraz próbuje ustalić, czy określone polityki publiczne mają porównywalny wynik, kiedy aplikowane są w różnych społecznych, kulturowych i politycznych warunkach. Problematyzacja „kompatybilności” dyskursu innowacjonistycznego z odmiennym od zachodniego typem społeczeństwa i nowoczesności służy refleksji nad uniwersalnym fenomenem recepcji zachodnich narracji modernizacyjnych, strategii ich przyswojeń, oporu lub nowych rekonstrukcji.
    Following the development of interdisciplinary analyses of the creative economy in the reflection of Western societies, the paper poses a question about the specificity of implementing this idea in Central and Eastern Europe. The author confronts the mythology of creative industries with the complex social and political context of the region’s countries, and tries to determine whether specific public policies have a comparable result when applied in different social, cultural, and political conditions. The problematization of the ‘compatibility’ of the innovationist discourse with a type of society and modernity different from the Western one serves to reflect on the universal phenomenon of the reception of Western modernization narratives as well as strategies of their assimilation, resistance, or new reconstructions.

    W artkule zostają omówione zmieniające się teorie przekładoznawcze, które lokują wierność tłumaczy w różnych elementach procesu translacyjnego. Raz wymaga się od nich wierności wobec autora tekstu źródłowego, innym razem wobec oryginału lub kolejno: czytelników pierwowzoru, kultury wyjściowej, kultury docelowej, odbiorcy przekładu, zleceniodawcy przekładu, norm docelowych itp. Raz traktuje się tłumacza jako kopistę, innym razem pozwala mu się ingerować w tekst i być jego drugim autorem (czasem ważniejszym niż twórca pierwowzoru!). Te zmieniające się normy translatoryczne są opisane w artykule z punktu widzenia etyki słowa, dlatego najbardziej uwypuklona została w nim jedna z nowszych teorii przekładu − tj.„Szkoła Manipulistów”. Od lojalności tłumacza (wobec kogo? czego?) zależy kształt przekładu, który z kolei wpływa na rzesze czytelników, ich poglądy i postawy życiowe. Gdzie więc tłumacz ma tę lojalność lokować, wobec kogo i czego ma być wierny? W artykule zostają także udzielone odpowiedzi na te pytania.
    The author discusses various changing translational theories which place the translator's loyalty in different elements of the translational process. Sometimes loyalty towards the author of the source text is demanded of them, and other times faithfulness towards the original work or to its readers, source culture, target culture, target recipients, translation commissioner, norms of the target culture etc. is required. Sometimes translators are treated like mere copyists, and other times as second authors (often even more important than the creators of the original texts). The article describes these changing norms from an ethical point of view, focusing on one of the most modern theories – the Manipulation School. A translator's loyalty (to what and whom?) influences the shape of the translation, which, in turn, affects its readers, their views and attitudes. And so, where should translators place their loyalty, to whom and to what should they be faithful? These questions require answers and answers are provided.
