- The article presents an overview of research on transitions of transgender parents. We performed an analysis of studies which show a perspective of a child experiencing the transition of his or her parents. The results show how important it is to meet the emotional needs of the child, especially the need to maintain a secure and stable relationship with both parents in a situation of experiencing one parent’s transition and separation of parents (divorce). The results are presented and interpreted in the light of the attachment theory of John Bowlby and the concept of the five emotional needs derived from the theoretical basis of schema therapy.
