Transcultural Experience and Multiple Biographies as a Research TopicTransculturality refers to the traditional understanding of culture as self-contained, concentrated around its own center and producing clear borders. “Trans” signifies the act of crossing; it signifies overcoming such borders. It looks at phenomena, people, and notions that are not limited to one communicational environment, but are represented in multiple locations, or contexts. Or rather-they cannot be fully ascribed to one “culture,” because they exhibit, traits of both (or more) cultures. Culture studies often describe, also, people with “trans” life stories; it is not a matter of simple crossing of borders, living a bit in one environment and a bit in another. The point is that their sense of belonging is of a mixed, ambiguous character, and their identity is blurred. It is a question of practices that they draw from two or more sources, creating a peculiar amalgam characteristic of living “in between.” Transculturality, just like multiple biographies, means both partial belonging and dual belonging, which is very well illustrated by the case studies presented in the volume: they have in a way, varied roots, which means they bear unique, hybrid fruit. Doświadczenie transkulturowe i biografie wielorakie jako temat badawczyTranskulturowość odnosi się do tradycyjnego pojmowania kultury jako samowystarczalnej, skoncentrowanej na sobie i wytwarzającej wyraźne granice. Przyrostek „trans” oznacza akt przekraczania tak wytyczonych granic. Kategoria transkulturowości skłania do patrzenia na zjawiska, biografie i pojęcia jako coś, co nie ogranicza się do jednego środowiska komunikacyjnego, lecz występuje bądź przejawia się w wielu miejscach i kontekstach. Można też powiedzieć, że nie można ich przypisać do jednej „kultury”, ponieważ reprezentują cechy dwóch (lub więcej) wspólnot kulturowych. Studia kulturowe często zajmują się osobami, czyje historie życia mają taki właśnie charakter „trans-graniczny” charakter. Nie chodzi przy tym jedynie o proste przejście granic, życie trochę w jednym, a trochę w drugim środowisku. Istotne jest to, że poczucie przynależności staje się niejasne lub wielorakie. Pojawia się na przykład kwestia praktyk związanych z dwoma lub więcej źródłami wzorców, co tworzy specyficzny amalgamat życia „pomiędzy”. Transkulturowość, podobnie jak biografie wielorakie, oznacza zarówno częściową, jak i zróżnicowaną identyfikację, którą świetnie ilustrują studia przypadków przedstawione w trzecim numerze „Colloquia Humanistica”; można by rzec, iż mają one różnorodne korzenie, przez co rodzą wyjątkowe, hybrydyczne owoce.

Opis:
Designing classes with the contribution of students who experienced migration and those without similar experiences becomes a didactic, pedagogical and cul-tural challenge. The aim of this paper is to analyse such phenomena in culture, which may provide inspiration for teachers as to how to think about teaching Polish culture in primary and secondary schools. The field for investigation is defined by the categories of transmediality and transculturality, since in the au-thor’s opinion the constant experiencing of transmediality and transmedia sto-rytelling in culture results in transcultural experiences. The author’s delibera-tions are based on examples from experimental poetry, forum theatre and am-bient literature.

The article introduces the collection of stories written by Hari Kunzru entitled Noise. They take up the issues of identity in the world of cultural influences and permeations, technology and religion. Furthermore, the stories, as well as the novels depict a transcultural reality as contradicted to the multicultural or intercultural one. It presents the hybridity of the contemporary culture and society, not their mere variety The proved above tendency of the writer to build a kind of vertical structure within a text has its starting point in the collection in question in which the author applies such a model in order to present elements of even distant cultures more effectively and naturally. The mixture of cultures, ethnicities, religions, lifestyles and classes is much more visible when observed from the top position. The collection initiates the concept of the translit fiction, particularly in “Memories of Decadence”. Finally, the stories and the novels bear intertextual relationships with other literary texts, which locates Hari Kunzru’s prose in a broader cultural context which includes Hindu, Slavic, Irish, Scandinavian and Native American mythology as well as Australian and British masterpieces, ancient drama and contemporary American and French literature. The intertextual relationships enable to decipher the meaning of the image of noise and deepen certain themes of the texts. Although, the novels of Hari Kunzru offer a much more developed and mature form of the presented devices, it is highly useful not to omit the short story collection Noise on the reader’s literary journey with Hari Kunzru.
Artykuł zatytułowany „Transkulturowe koncepcje w krótkich opowoadaniach Hari Kunzru i ich wpływ na późniejsze prace autora prezentuje zbiór opowiadań brytyjsko-indyjskiego autora Hari Kunzru Noise. Głównym tematem opowiadań są kwestie związane z technologią, religią oraz tożsamością i przynależnością w dzisiejszym świecie charakteryzującym się przenikaniem kultur. Podstawowym celem artykułu jest podkreślenie transkulturowego charakteru tekstów pisarza jako opozycji do koncepcji multi i interkulturowych. Dodatkowo, analizowany jest I ich wpływ na późniejsze prace autorawertykalnej struktury, która ułatwia pisarzowi intertekstualne wprowadzenie pozornie odległych kultur oraz ich wytworów. Relacje te pogłębiają znaczenie niektórych motywów i tematów prozy pisarza. Artykuł, pokazuje też, iż koncepcje użyte w zbiorze opowiadań Noise mają swoją kontynuację w powieściach Hari Kunzru, co czyni je pierwszym etapem jego literackich podróży.

Peace is non–violence and there is only one way to achieve it: peace as structural and interpersonal non–violence. The daily non–violence is as instructive as the spectacular actions of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King. Peace education is better based on demonstration what we “can” than to postulate of what we should do. The Peace Studies prefer a resource–oriented approach to education instead of a deficit–oriented. Our central thesis is that the youth is living in a kind of transculturality, the best conditions for peacebuilding. Considering the increasing sensitivity we expected that latest in 2075 we will make the war a taboo. The central key to solve conflicts nonviolently is conflict transformation in trusting a spiritual third power in between the opponents, even secularized people. The peace education has to help us to discover the third in nonviolent activities. There is a lot of difficult issues that the non–violence has to reflect in future, including elimination of the extreme violence, reconciliation, an impact of economy, the peacebuilding’s relevance of structural measures.

Znaczące zmiany w edukacji, jakie nastąpiły w wyniku pandemii COVID-19 zwłaszcza w zakresie organizacyjnym, w postaci przejścia na kształcenie zdalne, zdecydowanie zwiększyły zainteresowanie nauczycieli i szkół do wykorzystania międzynarodowej platformy eTwinning, której zadaniem jest zachęcenie do wymiany międzynarodowej, budowania sieci współpracy i interakcji pomiędzy uczniami i nauczycielami z różnych krajów europejskich. To z kolei, zdaniem autorki, stanowi sposób na budowanie społeczeństwa transkulturowego. Wychodząc poza dotychczasowe rozumienie kultury jako tworu jednorodnego, autorka wykorzystuje koncepcję transkulturowości W. Welscha oraz Wittgensteinowskie rozumienie kultury jako sposobu bycia i rezultatu interakcji międzykulturowych. W związku z powyższym artykuł poświęcony jest tematyce wykorzystania narzędzia eTwinning w procesie kształtowania społeczeństwa transkulturowego. W artykule zaprezentowane zostały przykładowe projekty międzynarodowe w ramach programu eTwinning, które zostały już zakończone, i takie w trakcie realizacji, których celem bezpośrednim jest zdobywanie kompetencji międzykulturowych przez wszystkich jego uczestników oraz takich, dla których stanowi to cel pośredni, realizowany w trakcie wykonywania innych wyznaczonych zadań.
Significant changes in education that occurred as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in terms of organization, in the form of the transition to distance learning, significantly increased the interest of teachers and schools to use the international eTwinning platform. The main task of the eTwinning program is to encourage international exchange by building a network of cooperation and interaction between students and teachers from various European countries. This, in turn, according to the author, is a way to build a transcultural society. Going beyond the current understanding of culture as a homogeneous creation, the author uses W. Welsch’s concept of transculturalism and Wittgenstein’s understanding of culture as a way of being and the result of intercultural interactions. Therefore, the article is devoted to the using of the eTwinnig tool in the process of shaping a transcultural society. There are also some presented examples of international eTwinning projects that have already been completed and are in the process of being implemented with the direct goal of acquiring intercultural competences by all its participants and those for whom this is an indirect goal, carried out while performing other tasks.

The article treats about the family and parental experience in the transcultural context and applicates the wider standpoint presented in the book “Psychescapes. Identity of our times?” (Pankalla, Kilian, 2007) which introduces into the specificity of the psycho-cultural perspective and signalises the need for developing psychological theory and practice that adequately consider and investigate relations between subjective worlds of unique individual experiences, multidimensional context and rich cultural resources. Contemporary man experiences the diversity of cultural narratives, complexity of patterns and lifestyles among which he moves, interprets and creates himself, relationships with others and the world. Cultural sciences, including our perspective of psychescapes identity, describe modern times as characterised by temporariness, flash, accidentality and multilogic. Special attention is dedicated to work by WolfgandWelsch – his conception of transculturalism and idea of transversal subject. The theoretic foundation to research families’ transcultural experience is established on the basis of Welsch’s project. The aim of the research project was to elicit and grasp the meaning of the studied experience as well as propose a new conceptual framework for the purpose of discussion and further examination in the psychological studies. The research project was conducted in London in 2010 using a qualitative research method Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) which adequately describes personal, subjective and lived individual experience. Moreover, IPA is recognised for its openness towards complexity, originality and processuality of studied phenomena. The value of presented psycho-cultural perspective and conducted research appears to be significant when uncommonness of experience of becoming a transcultural family transpire to be an everyday experience and the source of real, specific and tangible experiences in the contemporary, polysemic and polyphonic world.
Artykuł traktuje o doświadczeniu rodziny i rodzicielstwa w warunkach transkulturowych oraz aplikuje szerszą perspektywę zaprezentowaną w książce pt.: „Psychescapes. Tożsamość naszych czasów?” (2007) Andrzeja Pankalli i Aleksandry Kilian, która wprowadza w specyfikę autorskiej perspektywy psycho-kulturowej oraz sygnalizuje potrzebę budowania teorii i praktyki psychologicznej adekwatnie traktujących związki pomiędzy subiektywnymi światami unikalnych doświadczeń jednostkowych a wieloaspektowym kontekstem i bogatymi treściami kulturowymi. Człowiek współczesny doświadcza różnorodności kulturowych narracji, złożoności wzorów i stylów życia, wśród których porusza się, interpretuje i tworzy siebie, relacje z innymi i światem. Nauki o kulturze, w tym nasza perspektywa tożsamości psychescapes, opisują współczesne czasy jako charakteryzujące się przejściowością, migotliwością, akcydentalnością i multilogicznością. Szczególną uwagę zwracamy na myśli Wolfganga Welscha – jego koncepcję transkulturowości i typ podmiotu transwersalnego. Projekt Welscha stał się podstawą teoretyczną do badania doświadczenia transkulturowego w rodzinie. Celem projektu było uchwycenie znaczenia badanego doświadczenia i zaproponowanie nowej konceptualnej perspektywy, w ramach której będzie ono omówione i interpretowane. Badania były przeprowadzone w Londynie w 2010 roku metodą jakościową IPA, która adekwatnie opisuje osobiste, subiektywne i przeżyte doświadczenia jednostkowe. Ponadto, IPA jest metodą otwartą na złożoność, oryginalność i procesualność badanych fenomenów. Wartość zaprezentowanej perspektywy psycho-kulturowej oraz przeprowadzonych badań wydaje się być znacząca, gdy niecodzienność doświadczenia stawania się transkulturową rodziną okazuje się codziennością i źródłem realnych, konkretnych i namacalnych przeżyć we współczesnym polisemicznym i polifonicznym świecie.

The aim of the following paper is to discuss the image of migrants presented inselected culture-clash comedies, and its didactical contribution to transcultural learning. The intersectional analysis of three film sequences conducted in the framework of university classes (seminars and workshops) on intercultural communication is described as a starting point for discussion and reflection upon the stereotyped, and popularised images of migrants as people with specific qualities and skills, certain social backgrounds, and typical patterns of behaviour. The critical analysis of such images supports transcultural learning, which is understood, among others, as bringing aspects of the development of individual as well as collective identities into question, and acknowledging heterogeneity and diversity as cultural and social enrichment.

Artykuł dotyczy wpływów teatru niemieckiego na teatr polski w ostatnim ćwierćwieczu. Dla opisania tego zjawiska posłużono się koncepcją sieci kulturowych Wolfganga Welscha. Pozwala ona uchwycić różne zjawiska mające udział w przepływach i wymianach między kulturami. Zastosowanie tej koncepcji do badania relacji między teatrem polskim i niemieckim pozwoliło uwzględnić zarówno przepływ technik dramatopisarskich, estetyk i praktyk teatralnych, jak i własnych doświadczeń polskich twórców. W tym świetle czerpanie przez naszych dramatopisarzy i reżyserów z osiągnięć ich niemieckich kolegów nie powinno być postrzegane jako mechaniczne naśladownictwo, lecz jako jedna z nici w sieci interkulturowych powiązań.
The paper concerns the influence of German drama and theatre on the theatre work in Poland after 1989. It is an attempt to capture the mechanism of this phenomenon and to test theoretical tools to describe and interpret it. Wolfgang Welsch’s concept of transculturality (1992) has been employed, with its assumption that homogeneity is a constitutive feature of neither the contemporary multicultural societies nor contemporary cultures any longer, and that the former formula of the whole has been replaced by the formula of differentiation. Taking into consideration Welsch’s thesis that contemporary cultures are characterised by blending and mutual permeation, selected examples were presented to illustrate the impact of German drama-theatre practice on Polish theatre: the dynamic development of the young drama, the ways of understanding national drama and the emergence of political theatre as a new phenomenon in the Polish tradition.
