Cyberattacks have become a serious global concern, effecting enormous losses to different sectors. In the shipping business, major companies report violations to their operations’ integrity and security, and losing great amounts of money. While the International Maritime Organization (IMO), through the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) 1978, as amended, is yet to release a standard for the cybersecurity education and training of seafarers, some maritime education and training institutions (METIs) have acted proactively and included cybersecurity knowledge and skills in their curricular offerings. This study looked into the cybersecurity course offerings of four METIs that served as the case studies of the researchers. In particular, the following objectives were addressed: the cybersecurity knowledge and skills included in their curriculum; the importance of the cybersecurity knowledge and skills to seafarers; and the educational approaches of the METIs in delivering their topics on cybersecurity. The first and third objectives were answered using different sources of qualitative data, including document analysis, interview and direct observation. The quantitative approach, in the form of a survey questionnaire, was used to address the second objective. The METIs, though not the same in content, were found to have included cybersecurity knowledge and skills in their curriculum. These knowledge and skills were perceived to be very important by seafarers. Similar to the content of their courses, the METIs delivered their cybersecurity courses by employing varied educational approaches. To address the gap on the lack of cybersecurity course design and delivery minimum standards, a framework in the shape of a lantern is developed and proposed to guide maritime courses designers, in particular, and other course designers, in general.

Safety of crew, passengers, cargo and vessel is the most important aspect in terms of navigation. Boat Captain’s is responsible for the safety of vessel of less than 35GRT. The primary reason while MARINA conducting the MBSTC Training with Typhoon Awareness together with the ISCOF to be sure that they are enough knowledge in terms of safety at sea. Life is a very important to all of us that’s why the boat Captain must be aware about the safety of his crew, passengers, cargo and vessel. When disaster and emergency happen onboard you must know what to do. Based on this premise, the objective of this study is to train the Boat Captain and Motormen in Medical First Aid, Advanced Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques and Collision Regulations. The study employed qualitative research using purposive sampling to gather the opinions and ideas of the respondents.

Opis:
This contribution aims to describe the formation process of pre-primary and primary teachers in Italy. Some brief historical aspects about the development of the pre-primary and primary teacher curriculum are described to better understand how the formation process has changed in Italy in the last twenty years. A university degree course is now the basic requirement to become a teacher at pre-primary and primary level. In the description of the different parts which make up the Italian degree course curriculum, some pedagogical reflections are presented with their didactical and methodological implications.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie procesu formacji nauczycieli przedszkolnych i szkół podstawowych we Włoszech. Aby lepiej zrozumieć, jak zmienił się proces kształcenia nauczycieli we Włoszech w ciągu ostatnich dwudziestu lat, opisano kilka krótkich aspektów historycznych dotyczących rozwoju programu nauczania dla nauczycieli przedszkoli i szkół podstawowych. Studia uniwersyteckie są obecnie podstawowym wymogiem, który pozwala zdobyć uprawnienia do pracy jako nauczyciel na poziomie przedszkolnym i podstawowym. W opisie różnych części składających się na program nauczania studiów włoskich przedstawiono niektóre refleksje pedagogiczne z ich implikacjami dydaktycznymi i metodologicznymi.

Armed forces are characterised, among other things, by an extensive process of preparing offi cers to carry out the tasks imposed. Training, and then in-service training in the police, is based primarily on the experience and expertise of those responsible for it. A signifi cant role among police teachers is played by instructors, including police shooting instructors. The article describes the process of acquiring the authority to teach the indicated classes with police offi cers. Additionally, on the basis of evaluation research conducted at the Police Academy in Szczytno, taking into consideration such elements as course program evaluation, acquired knowledge and practical skills, the level of adaptation of the content of specialist course for police shooting instructors to the needs of course participants has been established.

Od początku istnienia Polskiej Rzeczypospolitej Ludowej Kościół katolicki i inne związki wyznaniowe były uznawane przez komunistów za poważnego przeciwnika. W celu ich sprawnego inwigilowania i zwalczania wrogiej działalności utworzono w 1962 r. Departament IV. Aby zapewnić skuteczność działań departamentu, postanowiono przeszkolić funkcjonariuszy i pracowników. Zagadnienie kształcenia i doskonalenia zawodowego należy uznać za jedno z najbardziej istotnych w kontekście jakości bezpieczeństwa w państwie. Mając na względzie doskonalenie zawodowe funkcjonariuszy, nie można zapominać, że rozwój ich osobowości w społeczeństwie nie mógł ograniczać się wyłącznie do formowania intelektu oraz procesów emocjonalnych i wychowawczych warunkujących jego funkcjonowanie. W bezpośrednim związku z prawidłowym procesem pracy w Departamencie IV pozostawała nauka elementów prawa, psychologii, taktyki i techniki operacyjnej. Właściwe zrozumienie zasad i możliwości stosowania środków przymusu bezpośredniego było podstawą do realizacji określonych działań. Kluczowe były predyspozycje zawodowe funkcjonariusza. W niniejszym artykule zarysowano system szkoleniowy funkcjonariuszy Departamentu IV MSW. Przedstawiono, jak dobierano kandydatów do służby i pracy na stanowiskach cywilnych, jak wyglądały studia wyższe, kto mógł się o nie ubiegać, a także jaka była efektywność szkoleń.
From the moment the People’s Republic of Poland was created, the Communists regarded the Catholic Church, along with other religious denominations, as a major opponent. In 1962, Department IV was established to provide effective surveillance and to counteract any hostile activity from those quarters. To improve effectiveness at the Department, it was decided that special training should be provided to its officers and employees. The issue of professional training and development should be considered as one of the most important tasks in state security. In terms of professional development, personal growth in society had to go beyond intellectual improvement or the emotional and formative processes that conditioned it. To keep Department IV in good working order, their training included elements of law, psychology, tactics and operational technique. A good understanding of the rules and options of physical coercion was fundamental to implementing certain tasks. The professional predispositions of the officers were seen as key. This article describes the system for training operatives at Department IV in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, explains the selection process for officers and civilian employees, and provides an overview of the course of study at college level, its eligibility criteria, and training effectiveness.

The paper shows the results of the research conducted in order to analyse the differences in understanding the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea among the students in countries practising two different systems of education for seafarers: the so-called “sandwich system” and the continuing system. Methods of learning as well as their effect on understanding the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea and students’ opinions on efficient methods of learning have also been analysed. Furthermore, the problems the teachers are facing have been identified. Measures for the improvement of the system have been proposed as well.

Opis:
The changing nature of military operations forces adaptation of the offer of specialized training for soldiers. Recently, there has been a growing influence of the activities of civilian actors, such as non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and local authorities, on the functioning of armed forces and peacekeeping operations. This development has raised a need to introduce specialised military training courses supporting Civil-Military Interactions (CMI) and Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC). These types of courses, developed primarily at the CIMIC Centre of Excellence in the Hague and conducted in a number of military training centres in Europe, are aimed at preparing soldiers to perform duties related to civil-military cooperation during NATO missions, as well as dissemination of knowledge about CIMIC and CMI among commanders and civilians cooperating with the armed forces. This article aims to discuss training courses on NATO’s civil-military cooperation model, with a particular focus on the NATO CIMIC Field Worker Course. The paper investigates teaching methods used in the Course, as well as discusses the main difficulties and challenges related to training and education in the field of civil-military interactions, as identified by instructors of NATO CIMIC courses.
Zmieniający się charakter działań zbrojnych wymusza odpowiednie dostosowanie oferty szkoleń specjalistycznych dla żołnierzy. W ostatnich latach zaobserwowano rosnący wpływ działalności aktorów cywilnych, takich jak organizacje pozarządowe (Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs) czy organy władzy lokalnej na funkcjonowanie sił zbrojnych i operacji pokojowych. Tym samym pojawiła się potrzeba wprowadzenia specjalistycznego kształcenia wspierającego interakcje cywilno-wojskowe (Civil-Military Interaction, CMI) i współpracę cywilno-wojskową (Civil-Military Cooperation, CIMIC). Tego typu szkolenia, opracowywane przede wszystkim w Centrum Doskonałości CIMIC w Hadze (CIMIC Centre of Excellence) oraz prowadzone w szeregu wojskowych ośrodków szkoleniowych w Europie, mają na celu przygotowanie żołnierzy do pełnienia obowiązków związanych ze współpracą cywilno-wojskową podczas misji NATO, a także szerzenie wiedzy na temat CIMIC i CMI wśród dowódców i cywilów współpracujących z wojskiem. Niniejszy artykuł stawia sobie za cel omówienie szkoleń dotyczących NATO-wskiego modelu współpracy cywilno-wojskowej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem kursu NATO CIMIC Field Worker. Analizie poddane zostały metody dydaktyczne stosowane w ramach szkolenia, a także główne trudności i wyzwania związane z kształceniem w zakresie interakcji cywilno-wojskowych, identyfikowane przez instruktorów kursów NATO CIMIC.

Opis:
Maria Montessori’s pedagogy is considered a “classics” of Education Sciences. In this contribution, a survey conducted with three different groups of subjects attending University lectures or in-service Montessori training courses is reported. Main research purpose is to discover background knowledge and perceived meanings of each group concerning the Montessori Method and its main characteristics. Data collected from the three groups under investigation are compared to identify the most macroscopic differences and / or similarities. Through the graphs produced, first reflections and conclusions are attempted, at the same time readers are invited to build their own opinions inferring other meanings or conclusions thanks to data and reading tools provided.
Pedagogika Marii Montessori jest postrzegana jako „klasyka” w naukach edukacyjnych. W pracy zaprezentowano wyniki badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych na trzech grupach badawczych: studentach oraz dwóch grupach nauczycieli będących uczestnikami szkolenia Montessori. Głównym celem badania było rozpoznanie stanu wiedzy środowiskowej i ustalenie, co poszczególne grupy rozumieją przez metodę Montessori. Zebrane dane przeanalizowano, aby określić najważniejsze różnice i podobieństwa w wynikach uzyskanych w tych grupach. Graficzne zaprezentowanie wyników badań pozwoliło na sformułowanie wniosków, czytający może także na ich podstawie samodzielnie zbudować własną opinię na ten temat.

Opis:
One of the most important factors influencing work performance of chainsaw operators, considered as one of the most dangerous, is acquirement of knowledge in a training course enabling to obtain vocational qualifications as a logger and to gain experience in timber harvesting operations. Securing the safety of the chainsaw operator is realized on two levels. Firstly, by organizing appropriate training courses, and secondly, by providing employees with appropriate personal protective equipment. The research was carried out in 15 forest districts in different parts of Poland. The survey conducted on a group of over 200 loggers was aimed at identifying the most important factors affecting health and safety of work in forestry. According to the obtained results, a large group of chainsaw operators completed only a 2−3−day−long training courses, during which they could not get sufficient knowledge how to operate with the chainsaw. The lack of knowledge has a direct impact on the fact that 57% of the respondents use the chainsaw for its extreme wear, 41% of the loggers do not prepare the work place before tree felling and do not debark the stump. 40% of these workers do not set the chain brake, while starting the chainsaw engine. 41% of loggers do not work with an assistant in young stands. The consequences of such negligence are injuries. 76% of them are not reported as accidents at work.

The article refers to the development of the special educational course “Forming Democratic Citizenship of a Teacher in the System of Higher Pedagogical Education”. Prospective research results of the issue in question, as a way of implementing democratic principles in the pedagogical process of professional teacher training in the conditions of renovation of Ukrainian society and public activity development, have been defined. Studying of the educational discipline is aimed at: mastering by teachers-to-be the historical and pedagogical foundations of the formation and promotion of citizenship education in world educational systems in the context of civilizational development of mankind; learning of theoretical positions of citizenship education: the essence, pedagogical importance, purpose, tasks, principles, regularities; becoming proficient at methodical bases and tools (forms, methods, means) for realizing the tasks of citizenship education in the pedagogical process. What is more, future pedagogues are taught to use modern methods of diagnosis and evaluation of the quality of educational process to establish the level of citizenship education; to analyse and summarize the data of pedagogical diagnostics of civic education and use its results for improvement of the educational process; to implement the integration of content related to citizenship education in pedagogical activity; to implement the leading forms, methods and means of civic education in the pedagogical process; to build cooperative relations on the basis of social tolerance, democracy, recognition and respect for different views and beliefs.
Artykuł dotyczy rozwoju specjalnego kursu edukacyjnego pt. „Kształtowanie demokratycznego obywatelstwa nauczyciela w systemie szkolnictwa wyższego”. W opracowaniu zdefiniowano perspektywiczne wyniki badań omawianej kwestii odnośnie do sposobu na wdrożenie zasad demokratycznych w pedagogicznym procesie kształcenia zawodowego nauczycieli w warunkach renowacji ukraińskiego społeczeństwa i rozwoju aktywności publicznej. Studiowanie dyscypliny edukacyjnej ma na celu: opanowanie przez nauczycieli podstaw historycznych i pedagogicznych formacji i promocji edukacji obywatelskiej w światowych systemach edukacyjnych w kontekście cywilizacyjnego rozwoju ludzkości; poznanie teoretycznych pozycji edukacji obywatelskiej (istota, znaczenie pedagogiczne, cel, zadania, zasady, prawidłowości); zdobywanie biegłości w metodycznych podstawach i narzędziach (formy, metody, środki) do realizacji zadań edukacji obywatelskiej w procesie pedagogicznym. Co więcej, przyszli pedagodzy uczą się: stosować nowoczesne metody diagnozy i oceny jakości procesu edukacyjnego w celu ustalenia poziomu edukacji obywatelskiej; analizować i podsumowywać dane z pedagogicznej diagnostyki edukacji obywatelskiej i wykorzystywać jej wyniki dla poprawy procesu edukacyjnego; wdrażać integrację treści związanych z edukacją obywatelską w działalności pedagogicznej; wdrażać wiodące formy, metody i środki edukacji obywatelskiej w procesie pedagogicznym; budować oparte na współpracy stosunki, bazując na tolerancji społecznej, demokracji, uznaniu i poszanowaniu różnych poglądów i przekonań.

The issue of regulation of a learning management system (LMS) at the state level of Ukraine is considered in the article. Types and interpretations of electronic educational resources that can be used in distance education are pointed out. The Moodle environment, as an example of one of successful learning management systems, is considered. In particular, the article contains a list of roles that can be shared by users of a learning management system. The general structure of an e-learning course, which can be used by educational institutions, is also proposed.

Opis:
In this paper author summarizes present maritime industry growing preference for highly qualified officers in the field of ECDIS operation. Current ECDIS training internationally recognised requirements are described including Manila amendments and Polish approach to the IMO Model course 1.27. Various forms of training available nowadays are presented within the paper. Advantages and disadvantages of each method are identified. Author outlines the necessity of improving ECDIS trainers’ competency.

The article presents attempts to identify the needs and problems of modern e-learning and designed a solution that meets the needs of the recipients of e-learning and e-learning content providers. On the basis of this analysis, it was found that the market lacks the e-learning platform that meets all the needs and requirements in remote education. E-learning systems are very poor functionally, and tools for achieving the objectives, such as content creation, content distribution, management learning, and synchronous online meetings appear as separate applications that do not necessarily work well together. Most often each of them must be used separately that extends the preparation of training materials, and is a burden in the administration and supervision of the training course. On the basis of the analysis of remote training needs of recipients and creators of content proposed solution supporting distance learning. On the basis of the analysis of literature and research of user behavior designed and developed an integrated e-learning platform that meets the expectations of the users. The system has successfully motivating tool to complete training and does not require expensive implementation. The main objective of the proposed system was to eliminate the disadvantages observed in other systems. It was found that the human factor impeding the effective acquisition of knowledge as lack of motivation for self-study and the lack of contact with the teacher. In order to minimize the impact of these factors on the educational goals proposed solutions such as elements of competition and extensive virtual classrooms.
