W pracy przedstawiono budowę i zasadę działania hydraulicznych układów wykonawczych i obciążających, wykorzystujących elementy proporcjonalnej hydrauliki siłowej oraz koncepcję ich zastosowania w stanowiskach do badań wytrzymałościowych, trwałościowych i funkcjonalnych. Elektroniczne sterowanie pracą tych układów daje szerokie możliwości modelowania warunków testów i automatyzacji długotrwałych, cyklicznych procesów badawczych. W Instytucie Technologii Eksploatacji - PIB zostało wykonane stanowisko do badania hydraulicznych narzędzi ratowniczych z inteligentnym hydraulicznym układem obciążającym, wykorzystującym technikę proporcjonalną. Podczas testów na stanowisku możliwe jest zadawanie obciążeń czynnych i biernych, odwzorowujących rzeczywiste warunki pracy, zbadanie charakterystyk roboczych narzędzi oraz wykonanie badań atestacyjnych. Przedstawiono schemat blokowy stanowiska, omówiono hydrauliczny system jego zasilania, zaprezentowano system sterowania, regulacji i pomiarów oraz przykładowe wyniki badań rozpieracza hydraulicznego.
The article presents the construction and principles of the operation of hydraulic actuators and loading systems which use elements of proportional high pressure hydraulics and the concept of their application in stands designed for resistance, durability and function tests. Electronic control of the operation of those systems provides a wide variety of possibilities for the modelling of test conditions and the automation of long-lasting, cyclic research processes. The test stand for hydraulic rescue tools with an intelligent hydraulic loading system, which uses the proportional technique, has been constructed in the Institute for Sustainable Technologies - NRI. Within tests performed at the stand, there is the possibility of applying active and reactive loads representing the actual operating conditions, the testing of the characteristics of working tools as well as carrying out attestation tests. The block diagram of the stand, the hydraulic system of its supply, and the system of control, regulation, and measurements, have been presented, as well as examples of the test results of a wheel cylinder.

Our considerations [Bratnicki, Kisielnicki, Olszak 2014] on the issue of organizational creativity have resulted to the integration of two research areas: organizational creativity (from the strategic perspective and dynamic capabilities) and ICT. Consequently, we have proposed the holistic concept of organizational creativity computer support. To create it, Hevner et al. [2004] design-science research guidelines were used.

W artykule opisano wybrane wyniki badań, przeprowadzonych w latach 2016–2017 w ramach międzynarodowej sieci badawczej IRNet (www.irnet.us.edu.pl) przez naukowców z instytucji partnerskich z różnych krajów. Wyniki te dotyczą analizy profilu działalności badawczej i jej oceny uzyskanej na Uniwersytecie Śląskim (Polska) i Uniwersytecie im. Borysa Grinchenki w Kijowie (Ukraina). Badania były prowadzone wśród wykładowców, doktorantów i studentów studiów I stopnia. Artykuł opisuje pewne aspekty teoretyczne kompetencji w zakresie ICT oraz porusza temat kompetencji miękkich, w tym – dotyczących działalności badawczej ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wykorzystania narzędzi IT do wyszukiwania informacji. Na końcu zaprezentowane wnioski.
This article describes some of the results of research carried out in 2015-2017 as part of the international research network IRNet (www.irnet.us.edu.pl) by researchers from partner institutions from different countries. These results relate to the analysis and research of the research activity profile and its evaluation obtained at the University of Silesia, Poland and at the Boris Grinchenko Kyiv University in Kyiv, Ukraine among lecturers and students. The article contains the theoretical aspects of competence in the field of ICT as well as soft skills, including competences related to research activities with particular emphasis on the use of IT tools and the results of surveys and their analysis. At the end, the conclusions and comments presented.

W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań sztywności statycznej obrabiarek ciężkich zrealizowanych w ostatnich latach przez Katedrę Budowy Maszyn Politechniki Śląskiej we współpracy z fabryką obrabiarek RAFAMET mieszczącą się w Kuźni Raciborskiej. Przegląd przedstawionych w artykule wyników badań sztywności statycznej (badania prowadzono dwoma alternatywnymi metodami: konwencjonalną i DWSS czyli metodą Dynamiczną Wyznaczania Sztywności Statycznej) dotyczy w głównej mierze badań tokarek karuzelowych serii KCI, ale został także uzupełniony badaniami frezarek bramowych jak i tokarek podtorowych.
The present article presents results of static stiffness research involving heavy machine tools that have been conducted in recent years by Machine Technology Department of Silesian University of Technology in cooperation with machine tool manufacturer RAFAMET located in Kuźnia Raciborska. The review of the static stiffness research results presented in the article (the research was carried out by the use of two alternative methods: traditional and DDSS i.e. Dynamic Determination of Static Stiffness) concerns turning and boring lathes KCI series, however it includes also research data on planer mills and turning machines.

Informacje przedstawione w artykule mogą pomóc naukowcom w planowaniu i skutecznym przeprowadzaniu badań w zakresie strategii stosowanych przez osoby uczące się języków, biorąc pod uwagę szereg istotnych, ukierunkowanych pytań związanych z jakością badania, metodologią oraz wyborem narzędzi i kryteriami oceny. W dziedzinie edukacji językowej może to stanowić punkt wyjścia dla szkolenia ucznia ze strategii zarówno w klasie, jak i poza nią. To z kolei może zachęcić uczniów do poszerzenia własnych preferencji dotyczących uczenia się oraz rozwinięcia i wzbogacenia zakresu stosowanych strategii uczenia się języków, a także ułatwić im przyszłą niezależną naukę języków i kontynuację procesu uczenia się przez całe życie.
The main aim of this article is to explore the question of what assessment methods researchers and teachers can employ in order to identify second/foreign language learners’ strategies for language learning and use, bearing in mind a number of vital technical or methodological considerations voiced by other researchers so far. The information presented in the article may help researchers to plan and effectively conduct language learner strategy research, taking into consideration a number of essential, targeted questions related to research quality, its methodology, as well as tools selection and evaluation criteria. Subsequently, in language education it may constitute the starting point for the process of learner strategy training in the classroom and beyond it. This, in turn, may encourage learners to stretch their individual learning preferences, develop and enrich language learning strategy repertoires, and facilitate future autonomous or self-regulated language learning, and continued lifelong learning.

Struktura społeczna i wartości są ze sobą, zarówno w teorii socjologicznej, jak i praktyce badawczej, ściśle powiązane. To wartości pozwalają nam ocenić zastaną strukturę społeczną. Stwierdzić, czy jest ona sprawiedliwa. Struktura społeczna (jako zmienna niezależna) wykorzystywana jest natomiast między innymi do eksplanacji zróżnicowania w obrębie deklarowanych wartości czy przestrzeganych norm. Związki między tymi dwoma elementarnymi pojęciami socjologicznymi są zatem nie tylko bogate, ale także socjologicznie fundamentalne. W niniejszym artykule przedstawione zostały dwa zagadnienia. Pierwsze z nich odnosi się do identyfikacji wartości wykorzystywanych w procesie odtwarzania struktury społecznej (w rozumieniu hierarchicznym, dystrybucyjnym). Następnie zostały zaprezentowane dwie strategie odtwarzania struktury społecznej. Zastosowanym kryterium podziału wskazanych strategii był sposób wyznaczania istotnych (ważnych), i w tym rozumieniu strukturotwórczych, charakterystyk określających miejsce jednostki w społeczeństwie. W obu przypadkach (pierwsze i drugie zagadnienie) podstawę rozważań stanowiła analiza, wykorzystywanych obecnie przez socjologów, narzędzi badania struktury społecznej.
In the considerations on social stucture values play both diverse (multi-respect) and a very significant role. These are values which allow for the evaluation of existing social structure, for stating whether it is just. Values constitute also the basis to specify ‘proper’ behaviour of particular individuals in different social positions. Social structure (as an independent variable) is also used in explanation of diversity within declared or obeyed values. The associations between these to elementary sociological notions are thus very rich and often fundamental for sociology. In this article two issues will be discussed. The first one refers to the identification of values used in the process of social structure reproduction (in hierarchical, distributive understanding). In the second part of the text two strategies of social structure reproduction are presented. The applied criterion of these strategies division is the way of coming up with significant (important) and n this understanding – structure creating characteristics specifying the place of an individual in society. In both cases (the first and second issues) the analysis of  social structure research tools used by contemporary sociologists is the basis for considerations.

The aim of the research presented in this paper was to solve one of the fundamental problems of modelling and simulation, i.e., verification of a model as a scientific tool of operations research. To attack this problem, certain crucial issues in the philosophy of science (the demarcation problem, the principle of verifiability) must be redefined. In discussing the question of verification, a procedure (the so called RAD-VER procedure) for verifying a model of a microeconomic system, in our case – a firm, is formulated. It is assumed that verification is a ceaseless process of evaluating a model’s scientificity from the standpoints of deductive reasoning, coherency and empiricism. Verification has been divided into two stages: the verification of the assumptions underlying the model of a firm and the verification of the simulator.

Uważność może być rozumiana jako stan lub cecha. Z tego powodu istnieje wiele niejasności, które wynikają głównie z braku precyzji dotyczącej zakładanego modelu uważności. Podobne rozbieżności dotyczą stosowanych narzędzi badawczych służących do pomiaru nasilenia uważności. Jak dowodzą liczne badania, narzędzia te mierzą nieco odmienne konstrukty psychologiczne. Dlatego badacze coraz częściej podejmują próby wyróżnienia oraz bardziej precyzyjnego rozdzielenia dwóch odmiennych aspektów uważności, tj. cechy i stanu, oraz opracowania na tej podstawie bardziej trafnych narzędzi badawczych. Niniejszy artykuł to przegląd istniejących miar uważności, z uwzględnieniem polskich adaptacji i ukazaniem ich specyfiki.
Mindfulness can be understood as a state, trait or practice. For this reason, there are many uncertainties that result mainly from the lack of precision regarding the mindfulness model. Similar ambiguities exist in the field of research tools to measure the mindfulness. As many researchers prove, these tools measure slightly different psychological constructs. For this reason researchers attempt to distinguish two different aspects of mindfulness, the trait and state, and on this basis develop more accurate research tools. This article is a review of existing measures of mindfulness, taking into account Polish adaptations, showing their specificity.

The selected quality tools were used in the organization to optimize the process of exchange of the grinding wheel. Test study, conducted in the organization indicated that the wheel may be changed every 270 hours of continuous operation. The use of the calculated cycle in practice has increased the number of manufactured products in the case of non-conforming products. The problem has been solved by using quality tools and analysis of the obtained results. For this purpose, we conducted: brainstorming, Pareto-Lorenz analysis and implemented the Sheward’s Charts. The results of the research has helped to identify the causes of the differences arising between the testing process and the actual course of the grinding process and to determine the optimum operating times for each wheel positions.

The paper aims to define the role of personal marketing activities in forming the image of a science organization. Based on the critical-cognitive analysis of literature on marketing and management, the paper discusses different interpretations of image and definitions of image related concepts of identity, personality, reputation and brand in the context of science organizations. The work subsequently presents a classification of sub-images of a science organization as an employer, stressing the occurrence of image discrepancy caused by different perceptions of an organization by particular segments of the the personal proposition recipients. The theoretical deliberations are complemented by an analysis of the original empirical research conducted by means of a survey. Special attention is paid to examining how strongly different elements of personal proposition affect perceptions of a science organization. This is analysed mainly from the perspective of potential employees, who represent one of the most important target groups. As the empirical research has been carried out for several years it was possible to make a comparative analysis, which helped to identify and quantify changes in the significance of the analysed determinants of employer perception. Finally, the paper discusses the effects that the personal marketing orientation (or its lack) has on the image of a science organization. The work points out to a very wide spectrum of these effects embracing in fact all areas of an organization's operations.

Opis:
The perspective of childhood studies has existed in science since the 1990s. Currently, it is considered as a paradigm. The article concerns one of the assumptions of this theoretical orientation – the participation of children in research. The analysis of the concept includes both positive and critical stances expressed in the subject literature. The text contains an analysis of the main assumptions of childhood studies and their relationship to the participatory approach to research. Moreover, it presents types of participatory research with children, considering the degree of their participation. The article refers to numerous examples of both research and specific techniques applied.  
Perspektywa childhood studies istnieje w nauce od lat 90. Obecnie uznawana jest za paradygmat. Artykuł dotyczy jednego z założeń tej orientacji teoretycznej – partycypacji dzieci w badaniach. Analiza pojęcia uwzględnia zarówno pozytywne, jak i krytyczne głosy pojawiające się w literaturze przedmiotu. Tekst zawiera analizę głównych założeń childhood studies oraz ich powiązania z partycypacyjnym podejściem do badań. Ponadto prezentuje rodzaje partycypacyjnych badań z dziećmi z uwzględnieniem stopnia uczestnictwa. Artykuł zawiera liczne przykłady zarówno przeprowadzonych badań, jak i konkretnych technik.

Opis:
The number of articles, books, and film documentaries reporting on lessons taught using a multimedia whiteboard is growing year by year. Numerous photographs and recordings show happy faces of children and their teachers. Also, test reports leave no doubt as to the attractiveness of activities supported by this modern media tool. But do all learners approve of learning with an interactive whiteboard? What determines the level of acceptance? I tried to obtain the answer to these questions in the course of research conducted in primary education classrooms as part of grant 495-NP.
