Opis:
The main aim of the paper is to present the procedure allowing one to determine correct mechanical characteristics of a rubber material compressed within a wide range of strain rates. In order to obtain a satisfactory wide spectrum of material data, a number of tests were conducted both under low and high strain rates with the use of a universal strength machine and split Hopkinson pressure bar set-up equipped with polymethyl methacrylate and 7075- T6 alloy bars. During the investigations, the necessity of performing pre-compression tests and the problem of specimen geometry were pointed out as key methodical requirements to guarantee achieving valid experimental data both from quasi-static and high strain rate tests.

Opis:
Waste material such as used tires is increasing every year, which poses environmental problems. However, such material has been used in several geotechnical applications as alternative lightweight backfill in highway embankments and/or behind retaining walls, providing environmental, economic and technical benefits. These applications require knowledge of engineering properties of soil-tire rubber mixtures. The present study aims to show the possibility of tire rubber usage in sand by evaluating the shear strength and deformability of sand mixed with granulated rubber, in weight percentages between 0 and 50%. The tire rubber content was found to influence the stress-strain and deformation behavior of the mixtures. The shear strength of sand mixed with 10% or 20% tire rubber was higher than that measured for sand only. However, the trend for TRC = 30–50% was different. Samples with a rubber content of 30-50% exhibited a rapid decrease in the stress ratio compared with that of sand. The major principal strain at maximum stress ratio was found to increase with increasing tire rubber content. However, it was observed that the lateral strains (minor and intermediate principal strains) of samples reduced significantly with the addition of tire rubber to the sand.

Opis:
This paper investigates the effect of simultaneous adding of recycled tire rubber (RTR) and marble waste (MW) as fine aggregates on the properties of concrete. To achieve this objective, the particles size distribution of crushed sand (CS) was corrected by the use of marble waste sand (MWS), and RTR was used by volumetric substitution (1%, 2%, 3% and 4%) of aggregates in concrete. The fresh properties were investigated using the slump, density and air content tests. Hardened properties were investigated through the compressive strength, flexural strengths, pulse velocity, elastic modulus and water absorption. The obtained results showed that the increase in the substitution rate of RTR reduced the fresh and hardened properties of concrete containing marble waste sand. However, with low substitution rates the properties of concrete remain satisfactory and the utilization of RTR and MWS leads to making a green concrete while protecting the environment.

Opis:
This experimental study aimed to use the ultrasonic pulse velocity method (UPV) in order to investigate the effect of rubber tire waste content and transducers’ diameters and frequencies on the evolution of ultrasonic velocities in time and to elucidate the correlations between UPV and the properties of various concrete mixtures. The incorporation of this waste involved volume substitution (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%) of fine aggregates (sand) by rubber waste (RW) granulates. The dry unit weight, porosity, compressive and flexural strengths, and velocity of ultrasonic waves with different transducers - which presents the non-destructive technique - were evaluated. Rubberized concrete mixtures showed increases in porosity with lower dry unit weight compared to the control concrete. Compressive strength, flexural strength and ultrasonic velocity obtained by all transducers decreases with increasing RW content. These decreases are not influenced by the curing age of concretes. Decreases in the diameter and frequency of transducers caused reductions in ultrasonic velocity. These reductions are not influenced by the volume replacement of sand by RW. Correlations showed that ultrasonic velocity represents a reliable non-destructive technique for measuring the properties of rubberized concretes.

Opis:
A huge amount of carbon black (40-60 phr) was commonly used as a reinforcing material in manufacturing of tires to improve the technical properties of pure rubber. Carbon black causes severe health hazard like skin cancer, respiratory problem due to its fly loss property. This study focusses on reducing the usage of carbon black by replacing it with minimal quantity of nanoclay to compensate the technical properties of rubber. Natural rubber nanocomposite are fabricated using solution and mechanical mixing method in presence and absence of compatibilizer. Cure characteristics, wear test and mechanical properties were examined. NR nanocomposite with dual filler in presence of compatibilizer showed enhancement in torque values, mechanical and wear resistant property. Wear resistance, tensile strength and modulus of dual filler nanocomposite was increased by 66.7%, 91% and 85% when compared to pure NR. Hence NR nanocomposite with dual filler in presence of compatibilizer was found as a proving and possible nanocomposite for tire application.

Opis:
In this paper the subsequent stages of tire rubber coupons mechanical properties experimental assessment are presented. Experimental uniaxial tension and compression tests were carried out on the strength testing machine with the assistance of high-speed camera and special software for strain measurements. Obtained stress-strain curves were applied into the chosen Mooney-Rivlin constitutive rubber material model in order to estimate necessary material constants. Simultaneously, the numerical off-road vehicle tire model was developed. Geometry of the tire and rim was achieved using a 3D scanning method. Moreover, with the assistance of microscope and X-ray device the tire cords pattern was verified, which in the next stages was implemented into the FE model. Consequently, tire radial deflection test was simulated in order to validate evaluated material constants and proposed concept of the numerical tire modelling. Obtained results were compared with the actual deflection test data included in technical documentation of the tire.

On average, there are about 60 kg of rubber in a passenger car, about 67% of which are tires, about 20% of all kinds body seals, doors and windows, suspension elements amount to 5%, the rest are other elements related to the engine (seals, hoses, wires, pads, etc.). Rubber waste is too valuable resource to direct to landfills. The vast majority of recovery of used tires in Poland (over 70%) is carried out by burning tires with energy recovery. Tires in the form of granulate, mixed with coal dust, are burn in some combined heat and power plants. The paper presents results of experimental studies of possible use for energy purposes, granules and pyrolysis oil the resulting from discarded car tires for increasing ecological and energy safety. Energy properties of granulates and pyrolysis oil were investigated and the shape and size of granulate particles were analyzed. For this purpose, digital image processing (CAMSIZER device) and calorimeter were used. It was found that the products of tire recycling decommissioned from exploitationare the high-energy material with good calorific value. Based on the results of experimental studies, application conditions of rubber waste for energy purposes was formulated.

Rozwój konstrukcji wałów wynika przede wszystkim z rozwoju agregatów uprawowych i uprawowo-siewnych, przystosowywania wałów do pracy w różnych warunkach glebowych oraz z poszukiwania lżejszych i tańszych rozwiązań. Na podstawie przeglądu oferty producentów przedstawiono przykłady różnych rozwiązań sekcji roboczych wałów pierścieniowych, sprężynowych, oponowych i gumowych.
Cultivation rollers have a large impact on shaping the soil structure by crushing and compacting it, and they are used individually and in aggregates with other tools. Individually, the Cambridge and Crosskill rollers are commonly used, in cooperation with the plows, Campbell rollers, and in cultivation and sowing aggregates various types of string roll-ers or toothed rollers called Packers, but the manufacturers' offer is much wider. The development of the roller design is mainly due to the development of cultivation and cultivation-sowing units, adapting the embankments to work in var-ious soil conditions and the search for lighter and cheaper solutions. Based on the review of the manufacturers' offer, examples of various solutions of working sections of ring, spring, tire and rubber rollers are presented.
