Opis:
ZimbarFuture orientation (FO) expresses interpersonal differences affecting the creation of attitudes and behaviour in many life areas. FO is a prerequisite of sustainability, which requires considering environmental consequences for future generations. This study compared two primary measures of FO; Zimbardo’s Future Time Perspective (F-ZTP) and the Consideration of Future Consequences Scale (CFC), in the environmental context. While higher values of CFC predicted significantly higher levels of environmental variables, higher values of F-ZTP did not predict higher levels, and in some cases even predicted significantly lower levels of environmental variables. We suggest that FO is multidimensional, that different constructs capture different dimensions of FO and when temporal conflict involve social conflicts, as in most environmental conflicts, an inconsistency between the predictabilities of the constructs may emerge, revealing a conflict between the “futures” people are orienting at.

Opis:
The aim of the thesis is to research the connections between time perspective and well-being of university students. The following investigative methods were used: The Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory and Ryff Scales of Psychological Well-Being. The group consisted of 127 students of the Pedagogical University in Cracow, Poland. The research demonstrated that the negative past and fatalistic present were negatively associated with all aspects of well-being. The future and the past were positively associated with most of the well-being scales. In relation to the present-hedonistic scale no clear connections to well-being were found. However, if high results in that scale are balanced with high results in the future scale, the feeling of well-being is also higher (for some aspects). High future orientation was, in this case, always positively connected with well-being, regardless of the fact whether it was balanced with present-hedonistic perspective or not. Suggestions for future research directions on obtaining optimal time perspective, conducive to well-being, were presented.

Introduction: Time orientation can significantly improve health-related prevention behaviour and influence disease outcome through boosting health-oriented behaviour. This study aims to compare time perspective between diabetic and cancerous patients, and healthy people. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 300 patients (105 healthy, 195 patients: 108 type 2 diabetes and 87 breast and digestive system cancer) aged 20 to 70 years (average age of 45.4 years). The samples were separated into three groups based on a convenience sampling method and were matched in terms of gender, age, education and monthly income. Data was collected through the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI-56) questionnaire and then evaluated with analysis of covariance (F test) followed by Fisher’s Least Significant Difference (LSD) test. Results: The three groups showed different time perspectives (F = 4.213, p < 0.05) and different ranking in time orientation. Conclusion: Our findings show that the disease and its type can significantly impact the time orientation of patients. Therefore, to prevent potential subsequent outcomes, the patients’ time perspective towards disease should be improved, especially under disease conditions.

Opis:
Orientating oneself to time and work for the future is considered a substantive compo-nent of the autoregulative process. It is also important to students ́ mental regulation, which is closely related to academic success. The factor of time in human life has been approached in psychology in a variety of ways. We will focus primarily on those concepts which study time and detect time patterns in motivational dynamics of personality. The concepts of Joel O. Ray-nor, Torgrim Gjesme, Joseph R. Nuttin and Philip G. Zimbardo will be mentioned. Of Czech authors, the “perspective orientation” by Isabella Pavelková is presented. We will discuss diagnostic methods used in the measurement of time perspective, especially the Motivation Induction Method (MIM – J.R. Nuttin). Secondly, we will present selected researches that have been carried out in this fi eld in the Czech Republic. These studies are focused primarily on issues related to the identifi cation, development, and opportunities of internal assump-tions conditioning the character and quality of an individual ́s future.

Opis:
Background. Time-space orientation is one of the specific coordination motor abilities. To a large extent, it is genetically conditioned by neurosensory and psychic abilities. Time-space orientation has significant impact on adaptation to rooms of various sizes, perception of obstacles, identifying space patterns, objects and distance. The purpose of this study was to compare level of time-space orientation of students with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia with their peers (without learning disabilities). Material and methods. The research sample included 40 third grade students of two primary schools (18 students from Therapeutic Primary School No. 11 and 22 students from Primary School No. 15 in Wroclaw). In order to determine the level of time-space orientation, a modified Reactive Shuttle Drill test and the research tool Smart Speed System, (similar to that described by Ljach – “run for a ball”, 2003) were used. Results. students (both boys and girls) without any learning disabilities obtained better results. They were not statistically significant. When comparing boys’ and girls’ results, those of statistical significance appeared only in the second test.

Opis:
The article focuses on relationship between time perspective and place of residen-ce. Five hundred and eleven Ukrainian participants completed the Zimbardo Time Per-spective Inventory [Ukrainian language version by Oksana Senyk (Senyk, 2012)] and a questionnaire that included the question about participants’ current place of residence and their place of residence in childhood. Answers to the questionnaire made it possible to consider in the research respondents’ change of residential place and its relation to the formation of different time orientations. The results have shown that the individu-al’s time perspective is influenced not by the specific life situation represented by his past or current place of residence, but upon his whole life story that includes changing different residential settlements. The research has also indicated that among all types of settlements rural settlements most significantly contribute to the development of time orientation towards a positive past.

Opis:
Precise positioning and navigation on the Earth’s surface and in space require accurate earth orientation parameters (EOP) data and predictions. In the last few decades, EOP prediction has become a subject of increased attention within the international geodetic community, e.g., space agencies, satellite operators, researchers studying Earth rotation dynamics, and users of navigation systems. Due to this fact, many research centres from around the world have developed dedicated methods for the forecasting of EOP. An assessment of the various EOP prediction capabilities is currently being pursued in the frame of the Second Earth Orientation Parameters Prediction Comparison Campaign (2nd EOP PCC), which began in September 2021 and will be continued until the end of the year 2022. The new campaign was prepared by the EOP PCC Office run by Centrum Badań Kosmicznych Polskiej Akademii Nauk (CBK PAN) in Warsaw, Poland, in cooperation with GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ) and under the auspices of the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS). In this paper, we provide an overview of the 2nd EOP PCC five months after its start. We discuss the technical aspects and present statistics about the participants and valid prediction files received so far. Additionally, we present the results of preliminary comparisons of different reference solutions with respect to the official IERS 14 C04 EOP series. Root mean square values for different solutions for polar motion, length of day, and precession-nutation components show discrepancies at the level from 0.04 to 0.36 mas, from 0.01 to 0.10 ms, and from 0.01 to 0.18 mas, respectively.

Cross-cultural conflict is often rooted in variation between values from different cultures, for example, differences in time orientation. Usually, individuals are monochronic or polychronic regarding time orientation. In South Africa, the term African time represents a nuanced polychronic time orientation. As this term is often used pejoratively, it is cardinal to break down stigmatization and create cultural awareness regarding this unique time orientation. In this paper, we argue that people must be cognizant of particular time orientations to facilitate intercultural dialogue better and lessen conflict. With this in mind, we employed empirically-engaged African philosophy and developed the African Time Inventory (ATI). We theoretically introduce African time as a unique time orientation during the scale development process. The psychometric properties of the ATI are presented and proved to be reliable and valid in South Africa. In praxis, utilizing the ATI can facilitate decolonization resulting from some needed cultural awareness for dialogue and conflict mitigation.
