Opis:
There are problems associated with flight of objects such as rockets after exceeding sound barrier. One of them is heating up their body during the flight, especially at low altitudes. Overheated surface of rocket leads to serious consequences, such as rapid destruction of material components of missile. It could cause an interference with target tracking signal if it is on the spectral range of missile optoelectronic detecting head. It can cause destruction of flying missile in extreme cases. In addition, temperature increase causes an increase of drag force of object what directly influences its ballistic parameters. The subject of the paper is to present a concept of experimental set-up to test the heating of missile body at flight. The set-up is based on a wind tunnel. Four missiles were selected for initial analysis in order to test some typical designs for significantly different flight velocities and aerodynamics. Boundary layer at flow around the surface, determining temperature field of missile, the local distribution of heat transfer coefficients on the sphere and exemplary distribution of temperature and pressure on the sphere during flow around, distribution of Nusselt numbers for different velocities of flow around roll, numerical model of rockets, distribution of Mach number, temperature field and velocity vectors are presented.

Opis:
In this paper the combined method of calculating thermal and electromagnetic fields of a cylindrical inductor, which is loaded by a bundle of ferromagnetic rods, has been developed. The method is based on the analytical solution of the electromagnetic characteristics and 2-D (FEM) simulation of the allocation of temperature fields by finite element method. It was found that the steady state of the inductor, which has the installed capacity of 4.5 kW, comes in 350—100 s. after heating, the maximum temperature of the rods in the central zone is 68°C, the temperature of the heated material - 48°C, which satisfies the technological process of heating the seeds before removing oil.
Obliczanie pola temperatur cewki indukcyjnej obciążonej wiązką prętów ferromagnetycznych. Opracowano metodę obliczeń pola temperatur i charakterystyki elektromagnetycznej wymiennika ciepła w postaci cylindrycznej cewki indukcyjnej obciążonej wiązką prętów ferromagnetycznych.

Opis:
Regional analysis and mapping of various geophysical data has been recognized as an important — even crucial — element of geological studies for many years. Due to rapid development of advanced numerical tools it is presently possible to construct, maintain and comprehensively analyse even very large geo-databases, including seismic, gravity, magnetic, geothermal and other geophysical data. In many countries, national geological surveys, commercial companies and research institutions are involved in mapping projects focused on spatial representation of geophysical data that could later be used for various studies. Recently, new policy of the Polish Ministry of Environment regarding geological cartography in years 2005–2020 has been declared (cf. Ber & Jezierski, 2004). In this document, geological cartography is used as a rather wide term that includes also other geo-disciplines like geoenvironmental studies or surface geochemistry. Among them, mapping of geophysical data is also mentioned. In this paper, short overview of the current state-of-the-art of selected aspects of regional geophysical mapping in Poland is given, with some remarks regarding potential directions of future work.

This paper presents and discusses the mathematical model of thermal phenomena occurring in axis-symmetric electromechanical linear motion converters. On the basis of the developed model, software to analyze the process of the heating up of this type of converters, was created. The effect of the thickness and type of material of the slot insulation, as well as the speed of the runner on the temperature distribution in the analyzed object was examined in-depth. Selected results of simulated calculations have been presented.

Opis:
In this paper, a three-air-gapped structure of a ferrite core for a resonant inductor is proposed. The electromagnetic and thermal field models are built using a 3D finite element method. Compared with the conventional signal-air-gapped structure of a ferrite core, the simulation and analysis results show that the proposed three-air-gapped ferrite core resonant inductor can reduce eddy-current loss and decrease temperature rise. In addition, the optimal position of air-gapped is presented.

Opis:
Maintaining railway turnout operability is crucial for ensuring railway transport safety. Electric heating of railway turnouts is a significant technical and economic issue. The classical heating is characterised by high power consumption. For this reason, research is needed to optimise the current system. This paper presents results of a numerical analysis and of experimental researches. The numerical analysis was carried out using the ANSYS software. There was conducted a numerical comparative analysis of energy loss during heating performed using two different heaters. Including the classical method and a heater thermally insulated from a rail. In the first step, heating of a working space filled with a substitute snow model was considered. The snow-covered surface area was held within the working space of the turnout. It was assumed that the snow substitute material had thermal properties approximately the same as real light snow. It was also assumed that the material is in the solid state which would not undergo a phase change. In the next step, a real snow model that included the phase change process was taken into account. The energy efficiency and heat distribution in the turnout have been analysed and compared. The experimental researches were carried out in a physical model. The results showed that the use of a contactless heater results in creating a larger area over which emitted heat affected snow in the working space. Consequently, more snow was melted around the contactless heater than the classic one. This experimental observation supported the results of the numerical analyses presented previously.
