Opis:
Recent study shows that quinolines represent one of the most active classes of compounds possesses wide spectrum biodynamic activities and use as potent therapeutic agents. In present research work, 5-[6-chloro/fluoro/nitro-2-(p-chloro/fluoro/methyl phenyl)-quinolin-4-yl]-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiols have been synthesized by condensation of substituted quinoline-4-carbohydrazides and mixture of carbon disulphide and potassium hydroxide. All of these compounds were screened for their in vitroanti microbial assay against gram (+ve), gram (-ve) bacteria and fungi activity compared with standard drugs viz., Ampicilin, Chloramphenicol, Ciprofloxacin, Norfloxacin, Griseofulvin and Nystatin at different concentrations.

Opis:
Lectins are one of several types of biological resources considered as potential medicinal importance for therapeutic agents. The present review deals with variety, sugar specificity and the medicinal importance of lectins from freshwater and marine invertebrates. The potent medicinal usage of the various types of the lectins from freshwater and marine non-chordates, which are comparatively well studied and compiled. Various literatures survey revealed that the lectin isolated in recent past from the freshwater species majorly from mollusca and arthropods (crustacean) etc. and also from marine sources of phylum porifera, cnidaria, annelida, arthropoda, mollusca and echinodermata could be rich sources of medicinal properties having remedial measures to bacterial infection, inflammatory disorders, cancer, mitogenic effect and antigen defence. The present study will be a database development to support global drug discovery researches on several types of lectins from freshwater and marine organisms for academicians, researchers and medicine manufacturers having therapeutic approaches for mankind by natural ingredients.

Quinoline derivatives represent one of the most active classes of compounds possesses wide spectrum biodynamic activities and use as potent therapeutic agents. In this research work, a synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of 6-substituted-2-(substituted-phenyl)-quinoline derivatives bearing 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol ring at C-4 position is described. The synthesis of quinoline derivatives is carried out by the reaction of substituted quinoline-4-carbohydrazides with a mixture of carbon disulphide and potassium hydroxide which further react with hydrazine hydrate to give final compounds. All of these compounds were screened for their in vitro antimicrobial assay against gram (+ve), gram (-ve) bacteria and fungi activity compared with standard drugs viz., Ampicilin, Chloramphenicol, Ciprofloxacin, Norfloxacin, Griseofulvin and Nystatin at different concentrations.

Opis:
Objective: The aim of the present work was to establish whether or not prescribed medication is a usable risk indicator for work‑related ischaemic heart disease (IHD), in Denmark. Material and Methods: Weighted Spearman rank correlation coefficients (rho) were used to evaluate the agreement between Standardised Hazard Ratios (SHR) for hospital treatment or death due to IHD and SHR for purchase of prescriptions for medicine that may prevent IHD from (re)occurring, among socio-occupational and economic activities groups in Denmark. The SHR were based on a 10-year prospective follow-up of 2 million people in Danish national registers 1996–2005. Results: We found approximately 7 times more cases of medicine usage (N = 411 651) than we did for hospital treatment or death (N = 55 684). The correlations between the 2 types of SHR were strong (rho = 0.94 for the socio-occupational groups; rho = 0.74 for the economic activities groups). We observed, however, one markedly contradictive result; the industrial group entitled ‘general practitioner, dentists etc.’ was associated both with significantly high rates of medicine usage (SHR = 1.15, 95% CI: 1.12–1.19) and significantly low rates of hospital treatment or death due to IHD (SHR = 0.80, 95% CI: 0.71–0.91). Conclusion: Apart from a few caveats, the strong correlations obtained in the present study signify that purchase of a prescription for IHD-related medication is a usable risk indicator for IHD in the working population of Denmark. The usage of medicine data in addition to or instead of the use of death or hospital data in epidemiological studies on work-related IHD risk will bring about a tremendous increase in statistical power.
