The article is the report from the scientific symposium organised by the Association of the Polish Theologians of Spirituality of the theme: Spiritual life in reborn Poland. This year Poland will be celebrating the centenary of the regaining of its independence. It becomes a great occasion to look at that period of history from the perspective of the theology of spirituality. Numerous figures of saints and blessed from that period of history as well as richness of various publications in the topic of theology of spirituality, with special underlining of the subjects characteristic for the Polish spirituality fully justify the using of the name Polish theology of spirituality.

Artykuł zwraca uwagę na wybrane aspekty gniewu we współczesnej refleksji nad życiem duchowym. Poruszone są kwestie terminologiczne, problem natury gniewu oraz znaczenie gniewu dla chrześcijańskiego życia duchowego. Gniew jako siła destrukcyjna budzi pytanie o sposoby mądrej, zgodnej z duchowością chrześcijańską strategii lub wypracowania środków zaradczych mających na celu obniżenie jego destrukcyjnej siły. Z kolei w interpretacji pozytywnej („gniew słuszny/święty”) ważne są warunki pozwalające doprecyzować, kiedy rzeczywiście można mówić o pozytywnej roli gniewu w duchowości chrześcijańskiej.
This article draws attention to the most important aspects of the theme of anger as found in contemporary reflections on the spiritual life. The issues discussed are questions of terminology, the problem of the nature of anger, and the importance of anger within Christian spiritual life. The reality of anger as a destructive force raises the question of how to counter it: What is a wise strategy for reducing its destructive power? What possible correctives or remedies are also in accordance with genuine Christian spirituality? In contrast, when anger is given a positive interpretation (“righteous/holy anger”), the article presents certain conditions or criteria that can help clarify when it is possible to talk about the positive role of anger in Christian spirituality.

The article is an attempt to summarize previous academic achievements of Fr. Professor Stanisław Urbański in conjunction with his 30th anniversary of work at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. He is the creator of the Polish school of spirituality. His studies contributed to the discovery of number of new schools of spirituality in the Polish context. In his publications he touches, among many others, issues of theology of spirituality, mysticism and hagiography.

This article raises issues surrounding the theology of spirituality as a relatively new theological focus. It argues that, faced with a changing world and numerous new (or perceived as new) phenomena, the theology of spirituality, as a scholarly area examining spiritual experience, is becoming a branch of theological research of increasing importance. The first part of this article focuses on the ever-growing areas of interest found within the theology of spirituality, a growth stemming from the core of the field itself (agere sequitur esse). The second part emphasizes the newer areas of interest within the theology of spirituality. These new horizons arise from the pluralism of theology itself and the criteria used in differentiating theological disciplines, such as ethno-geographic, doctrinal, and ascetic-practical concerns. In particular, amid a fast-changing world in which information and mutual contact have become incredibly accessible, the interpenetration of cultures and traditions can not only be of great value but also carry the dangers of a chaotic eclecticism. As this accessibility becomes ever easier and more pervasive, contemporary human beings can thus become confused, not only about their worldviews but also concerning their spiritual and religious beliefs. Thus, research into the theology of spirituality is becoming increasingly more important.

Analiza badawcza periodyka Duchowość w Polsce pod kątem zawartych w nim aktualnych nurtów i perspektyw teologii duchowości w Polsce pozwoliła na wyciągnięcie następujących wniosków. Teologia duchowości, stanowiąca samodzielną uporządkowaną metodologicznie dyscyplinę naukową, ma duże znaczenie dla teologii, zwłaszcza gdy idzie o połączenie spekulatywnej i przeżyciowej strony życia duchowego człowieka. Ponadto skupia wokół siebie wiele wymiarów duchowości i dziedzin pokrewnych. Stanowi fundament dla duchowości kapłańskiej, małżeńskiej, zakonnej, laikatu. Jest punktem odniesienia dla mistyki, antropologii, czy historii duchowości. Z tego też względu wymaga nieustannego doprecyzowywania metodologii nauk. Wśród aktualnych jej nurtów i perspektyw wymienić należy: personalistyczno-chrystologiczną koncepcję duchowości Jana Pawła II, stanowiącej paradygmat teologii duchowości w Polsce oraz nurt chrystoformiczno-eklezjalny w służbie formacji do kapłaństwa i życia konsekrowanego. Do perspektyw natomiast należy udział teologii duchowości we właściwym sprecyzowaniu duchowości zrzeszeń chrześcijańskich i ruchów charyzmatycznych oraz ich miejsca i znaczenia we wspólnocie Kościoła.
Analysis of research of the periodical Spirituality in Poland in terms of finding its current trends and prospects of the theology of spirituality in Poland leads to finding the following conclusions. Theologians of spirituality see the need to organize the methodology. The proper method allows for the appropriate tests in the relevant area of research. This is about mysticism, history of spirituality, anthropology, and various dimensions of spirituality: marriage, priestly, religious and laity. The main trends, proposed by John Paul II, are personalistic-christological concept of spirituality and trend christoformic-ecclesial in the formation of the priesthood and consecrated life. The prospects of the theology of spirituality include its role in the proper clarification of the spirituality of Christian associations and charismatic movements and their place and importance in the community of the Church.
Die Untersuchungsanalyse der Zeitschrift Spiritualität in Polen unter dem Blickwinkel der aktuellen Strömungen und Perspektiven der Theologie der Spiritualität in Polen, erlaubt folgende Feststellungen: Die Theologie der Spiritualität die eine selbstständige und methodologisch geordnete wissenschaftliche Disziplin darstellt, hat für die gesamte Theologie eine große Bedeutung, vor allem in der Verbindung von spekulativer und emotionaler Dimension des geistlichen Lebens des Menschen. Außerdem sammelt sie um sich viele Aspekte der Spiritualität und verwandter Bereiche. Sie stellt das Fundament für die eheliche und priesterliche Spiritualität sowie für die Spiritualität der Ordensleute und Laienchristen dar. Sie ist ein Referenzpunkt für Mystik, Anthropologie und Geschichte der Spiritualität. Aus diesem Grund verlangt sie nach einer ständigen methodologischen Präzisierung. Unter ihren aktuellen Strömungen und Perspektiven ist es ratsam, das personalistisch-christologische Konzept der Spiritualität von Johannes Paul II. zu erwähnen, das ein Paradigma der Theologie der Spiritualität in Polen darstellt sowie die christoform-ekklesiale Strömung im Dienst der Vorbereitung zum Priestertum und Ordensleben. Was die Perspektiven angeht, kann man den Beitrag der Theologie der Spiritualität in der adäquaten Präzisierung der Spiritualität von christlichen Vereinigungen und charismatischen Bewegungen sowie ihre Stellung und Bedeutung für die Gemeinschaft der Kirche bemerken.

The development of theology over the centuries of the Church’s life and activity is accomplished through publications. They express the theologians’ positions, opinions and hypotheses. Among Polish theological journals, “Collectanea Theologica”, which has its origins in Lviv (“Przegląd Teologiczny”), plays a special role. Though it is connected with the Warsaw theological environment, it not only covers Poland but also goes beyond its borders, as evidenced by the foreign publications and foreign-language authors. Undoubtedly, this journal has become a very serious and rich source of and platform for the development of the theology of spirituality. Its existence is connected with the independence of this branch of the theology, and therefore from the beginning of its existence we find in the journal highly valuable and serious materials on spirituality.The analysis of the publications, which are the result of research conducted over a hundred years, allows us to conclude that we are dealing with an unusual and multidirectional wealth. It should be stated that the publications present an interdisciplinary nature of the research conducted. The study outlines the main directions of the development of the theology of spirituality and their documentation. It can be said that these publications reflect theological trends in the universal Church. Both the documents of the Church and of the popes as well as the events became an inspiration for the authors. Historical, social and even political events were not without their significance and influence. Of particular importance is the development of native Polish theology, having its own specificity and contributing richly to the life of the whole universal Church. We define such a achievement as the “Polish school of spirituality”.

Celem artykułu jest charakterystyka pojęcia kontemplacji, jaką proponują polscy mistycy żyjący między XIV a XX wiekiem. Materiałem badawczym jest Antologia mistyki polskiej pod redakcją Mariana Zawady OCD, której pierwszy tom obejmuje teksty mężczyzn, a drugi — kobiet. Z materiału wyekscerpowano wszystkie fragmenty zawierające analizowane pojęcie w celu określenia kontekstów, w jakich polscy mistycy używają tego słowa. Badanie skupiło się na zdaniach mających formę definicji. Zostało ono wzbogacone odniesieniami do definicji kontemplacji istniejącej w obecnej Encyklopedii katolickiej, jak i do tej, która znajduje się w słownikach języka polskiego. Badanie ukazało bogactwo treści teologicznych i piękno języka zawarte w tekstach polskich mistyków. Przekaz zapisany przez osoby doświadczające kontemplacji znacznie poszerza bowiem wiedzę czerpaną jedynie ze słowników. Badanie ukazało także ogromne oczytanie i obycie polskich mistyków — ich refleksje nie odbiegają od tekstów wielkich teologów i mistyków innych krajów i jak najbardziej zasługują na włączenie ich do współcześnie pisanych prac teologicznych.
The purpose of this article is to characterize the concept of contemplation as proposed by Polish mystics living between the 14th and 20th centuries. The research material is the Anthology of polish mysticism edited by Marian Zawada OCD, the first volume of which includes texts by men and the second by women. All fragments containing the analyzed concept were excerpted from the material in order to determine the contexts in which Polish mystics use the word. The study focused on sentences in the form of definitions. The research has been enriched with references to the definition of contemplation that exists in the current Catholic Encyclopedia, as well as the one found in dictionaries of the Polish language. The study showed the richness of theological content and the beauty of language contained in the texts of Polish mystics. The message recorded by those experiencing contemplation greatly expands the knowledge gleaned from dictionaries alone. The analysis proved that Polish mystics were very educated and well-read — their reflections do not differ from the texts of the great theologians and mystics of other countries, and as much as possible deserve to be included in contemporary theological works.

The article analyzes the influence of the dogmatic truth of the begetting of God’s Son by the Father for theology, bioethics and spirituality. The inner life of God is a main subject of the theological reflection. God the Father is in the incessant movement to another – to the Son. He is still begetting His Son in eternal now. There is why theology should describe God not in static or stagnant terms but as a being in constant act of forgetting about himself; as a primal source of all constructive activity in the world. The act of begetting the Son has also its repercussions for bioethics, especially these concerning every human procreation. The Father is begetting His Son in Himself and in the act of love. The same conditions are supposed to be kept in case of the conception of every child. Because the procreation is a participation of man in the God’s creation, it should take place in the act of love and inside the female body. As for spirituality, the eternal act of begetting the Son by the Father shows the inner orientation of every human life as a service for others and the attitude of self-offering.

The article describes the spirituality of lay people of the third millennium. It involves the participation of Christians in the triple dignity and mission of Christ. New trends in the 21st century spirituality have been briefly discussed. They have been inspired by the Second Vatican Council. The broader context of the article was the universal call to holiness, which is a basis of Christian spirituality, and is the consequence of receiving baptism. As it is known, all people are called to holiness - not just consecrated persons but also lay people. One and only holiness is expressed in different ways in individuals who strive for perfect love in their chosen condition. The lay faithful pursue their vocation to holiness, living in the world, and give an example of the unity of life and of faith. The article deals with the spirituality of the third millennium: the cultural and social and spiritual-religious trends, the baptismal spirituality of the laity, and the universal vocation to holiness in response to the call of the Second Vatican Council to promote Christianity in the dignity and mission of Christ (priestly, prophetic and royal).

Opis:
Effective communication fits into the social context, which means that there is a relationship between the transfer of various information and the behavior of a given community. Communication is a two-way process, concerning, on the one hand, transferring information, and on the other hand, reading information, which in theological terms can be reduced to the personalistic context (concerning a human person). Man remains in the center of interest in media communication, and contemporary personalism considers communication processes as important for the development of man and his spiritual sphere. In the case of believers, this spirituality is inextricably linked to the theology of communion with God as a set of thoughts regarding the processes taking place when deepening the spiritual sphere. The theology of communion is therefore reduced to the theology of spirituality, and human development in the spiritual sphere largely determines the well-being of each individual.

Artykuł podejmuje temat duchowej wartości pracy na uczelni, przy czym określenie „duchowy” zostało podzielone na dwie kategorie: szerszą i węższą. W odniesieniu do tej pierwszej artykuł zaznacza kilka aspektów: moralny, osobowościowy, edukacyjny itd., natomiast w znaczeniu węższym, odnoszącym się do duchowości chrześcijańskiej, artykuł podejmuje temat pracy na uczelni jako realizację chrześcijańskiej cnoty miłości, powołania i drogi do świętości. Ostatnia część poświęcona jest zagrożeniom duchowym płynącym z pracy naukowej i dydaktycznej na uczelni.  Jest to zatem nie tyle próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, jakim wykładowcą należy być, aby studenci odnieśli jak największy pożytek, lecz jaki pożytek duchowy dla samego wykładowcy niesie ten rodzaj ścieżki zawodowej i w jakim stopniu jest dla niego również drogą osobistego rozwoju duchowego.
The article focusses on the spiritual value of an academic work, with the term “spiritual” being understood twofold: in a wider and a narrower sense. In the reference to the former meaning, several aspects have been highlighted: moral, personality-related, educational, etc. In a narrower sense, however, references to Christian spirituality have been made, specifically, it discusses academic work as an implementation of the Christian virtue of love, a vocation and a path to holiness. The final part of the article has been devoted to spiritual threats stemming from both, scientific and didactic work at the university. Therefore, it is not so much an attempt to answer the question as to what kind of a lecturer should one be in order to allow the students to benefit as much as possible, but what kind of a spiritual benefit that professional path allows for an academic themselves and to what extent it helps them to develop personally and spiritually.

Pytanie o metodologiczny i teoriopoznawczy status obrazu Boga we współczesnej teologii jest jednym z najważniejszych, jakie należy postawić w świetle przemian społeczno-religijnych, następujących we współczesnym społeczeństwie. Odchodzenie od instytucjonalnie praktykowanej wiary religijnej jest bowiem często spowodowane obrazem Boga (i relacji między Bogiem a człowiekiem), który dla współczesnego człowieka staje się coraz mniej możliwy do zaakceptowania. Nie jest to jedynie kwestia ludzkiej niezgody, motywowanej postawą antyreligijną, lecz przede wszystkim skutek zniekształcenia go we współczesnym przekazie teologicznym, homiletycznym i katechetycznym. Obraz ten, kreowany najpierw w teologii, został nadmiernie obciążony elementami, nawiązującymi do powinności moralnej człowieka, a jednocześnie w znacznym stopniu zubożony o elementy wywodzące się z jego doświadczenia egzystencjalno-duchowego. Odzyskanie bardziej adekwatnego obrazu Boga wymaga wnikliwego namysłu filozoficznego nad samą teologią oraz zrekonstruowania tego obrazu na podstawie pogłębionego odniesienia do treści biblijnych, wraz z jednoczesnym powiązaniem ich z aktualnym doświadczeniem religijnym człowieka, ujawniającym się w jego egzystencji. -------------- Zgłoszono: 20/09/2020. The question about the methodological and epistemological status of the image of God in contemporary theology is soon to be posed in the socio-religious light of contemporarysociety. Departure from institutionally practiced religious faith is often seen as an image of God (and the relationship between God and man), which is becoming less and less acceptable to modern man. It is not only a matter of human disagreement motivated by an anti-religious attitude, but above all the influence of its distortion in contemporary theological, homiletic and catechetical transmission. This image, first created in theology, considerably increases the already heavy burden in relation to the moral obligation of man, and thus is largely impoverished by elements derived from his existential and spiritual experience. Recovering a more adequate image of God requires a thorough philosophical reflection on theology and the reconstruction of this image on the basis of an in-depth reference to the content, and the simultaneous linking them with the current religious experience that manifests itself in his existence. -------------- Received: 20/09/2020. The understanding of leadership and or experience of leaders have permanently changed, and the key questions for today’s no longer issues of task and structure but are questions of spirit. The models of leadership are connecting with mission hence the roots ministry are not in the acquisition of skills, but in a changed attitude toward others, a conversion, and a new way of looking at the world. In this perspective is presented a theology of leadership: tree theological paradigm shifts, Trinitarian Mission and baptismal discipleship.
