Opis:
Ry Nikonova is a Russian poet, belonging to the so-called “Second culture” of the 20th century, creating in the spirit of neo-avant-garde. Together with her husband, she published in the samizdat magazine “Transponans”, which was formed in the 1970–80s. Her poetic works, stylized as theatrical plays, present the idea of syncretism of art, which according to the artist is theatre. The short, economical poems evoke monumental visions of theatre, where gestures are important – less words, the conflict between actors and spectators, and all the seemingly non-scenic spaces associated with theatre in the reader’s consciousness.

Opis:
The paper aims to offer a synthetic perspective upon the dramatic genre in the Romanian folklore. We present several preliminary elements within a short historical account of the dramatic manifestations; afterwards we create an inventory of the forms of theatrical arts, following the first historical records, a description of the rituals and props in order to depict the folk syncretism and all its beauty. The working instruments are those offered by historiography and the methodology in the field as well as the ethnographic description. Although less consistent than the folk poetry or epic, folk theatre contributes to the complexity and flavour of Romanian folklore. The unseen mechanisms of syncretism have functioned and are still functioning, generating new forms of folk art. The laic and the religious, the traditional and the modern, the epic and the drama, the masks, the dances as well as the costumes and the props – all these contribute to the survival of this particular folk genre. Moreover, being the least discreet of all Romanian folk genres, the folk theatre represents also an element of attraction and cultural export nowadays.

Opis:
Isaak Douvan-Tortsov, an actor and director of Karaite origin, was one of the leading figures in Russian theater at the beginning of the 20th century. Like many other representatives of Russian culture, Douvan-Tortsov emigrated following the Civil War, spending time in many countries both in Europe and elsewhere. In the 1920s, Douvan had the opportunity, via the Moscow Art Theater Prague Group, to travel to Czechoslovakia, where he spent several months and devoted himself to theater work. Isaak Douvan-Tortsov spent time in Prague at the end of 1925 and the beginning of 1926, primarily in the Vinohrady Municipal Theatre, but he also visited other cities in what was then Czechoslovakia for MAT (MAAT) performances, as was mentioned in news stories from the time. The text deals predominantly with this thus far unknown period of Douvan’s life.

The article is a presentation of the Creative Tenants workshops, which are part of the contemporary activities in the field of theatre pedagogy. Children’s workshops took place for five months at the Służewski House of Culture in Warsaw. They were an attempt to verify contemporary assumptions of theatre pedagogy used in practice. The inspiration for the project was the idea of art education and its rich tradition as well as modern concepts of treating art as a space for designing new ways of social action.

Inspirację dla tytułu poniższego artykułu stanowiła książka pod redakcją M. Szczepkowskiej-Pustkow-skiej i E. Rodziewicz Więcej niż teatr. Sztuka zaangażowana i angażująca wychowawczo.
The theme of this article is a phrase taken from the title of the book edited by M. Szczepkowska-Pustkowska and E. Rodziewicz – "More Than Theatre – Art Engaged and Engaging Educationally" of Romany Miller inspirations for Contemporary Pedagogy". The task which coexisted with my scientific research was to make a description of characteristics of an educational influences of the Forum Theatre on a background of consultative features of theatrical education. This task I have realized in the two stages. As a first one I have carried out an identification and analysis of features of the theatrical education. The next one, following the background of the previous one, I have described educational influences of the Forum Theater in relation to analytic categories being a result of preceding explorations such as dialog, multi-subjections, education through a fictional world, smoothing over borders, the same edge education, transformative experience, transgression.

Opis:
In this article, I have undertaken an analysis of the visual arts section “curated” by Zbigniew Warpechowski at the student festival Lublin Theatre Spring in 1973 and 1974, where many artists, later known as precursors of performance art, performed. Experimental happenings within the field of student theatre, referred to as “artistic actions”, are mentioned by many sources as an event marking the start of performance art history in Lublin. The aim of this article is to reconstruct individual actions, collect scattered archival materials (brochures, descriptions of actions, memories, photographs, excerpts from press reviews), and analyse the reception of these actions among the audience and theatre critics based on press reviews. These events are placed in the context of the simultaneous emergence of avant-garde theatre represented by Jerzy Grotowski, Tadeusz Kantor, and Józef Szajna, as well as student theatre. This contextualisation illustrates how this new art form, later defined as performance art, negotiated its position and sought its place between the theatrical stage and the art gallery in the mid-1970s. The article also demonstrates how these new theatre models converged with the reflection on action art. Moreover, the research highlights the local and transmedial specificity of the development of this artistic direction.

Individuals with intellectual disabilities exist fully and authentically through works of art they have created. The universalism of the language of art happens to be for them a form of expression_ and, frequently, the only form of dialogue led with the outside world. Owing to art, an intellectually disabled person has a chance to go beyond the frames of his/her hermetic world. Art can be an import_ant stimulus influencing the social perception of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Furthermore, all the activities carried out in social, artistic and therapeutic fields can support the process of social inclusion of people with intellectual deficits.

Ever since antiquities, theatre has been a medium of provoking sentimental reaction and an entertainment of the populace especially the elite. Authors of this genre do present active noble characters in their works making as if it is real. We do learn in Greco-Roman Empire how amphitheatre hosted Caesars, their officials and empiric subjects watching the gladiators and the persecuted Christians in the medieval era. Fifty years of cinema and the television as well as the new media have changed the mind-set of the global community towards life in general to form a unique interconnected universal cultural chains. In this research, we would like to use political activism theories called pluralist theories of Norris Pippa as critical lens to analyse the trend of political activism in the modern theatre of the early 21st century in comparison to that of the 20th century which led to violent revolutionary movements.

The article entitled Monumenta polskiej scenografii. Ustawienia-odsłonięcia-obchody is a discussion of the important publication Zmiana ustawienia. Historia polskiej scenografii teatralnej i społecznej XX i XXI wieku (A change of setting. History of the Polish theatre and social scenography in the 19th and 20th centuries) edited by D. Buchwald and D. Kosiński. In the three parts, entitled Settings, Unveilings and Celebrations, the author refers to the methodological assumptions of the project, analyses the contribution of each author to the ambitious research project and reflects on the inclusion of socio-political issues in the study of theatre aesthetics. The author acknowledges the groundbreaking nature of this achievement, crowned with an important scenography exhibition at the Zachęta Gallery in Warsaw authored by Robert Rumas, and enters into polemics with the individual concepts of set design analysis and reflects on the value of the work as a synthesis covering ‘the entirety of Polish scenography’ from the late 19th century to the present day.
