    Opis:
    Environmental education, frequently referred to as ecological education, is commonly associated with the description and shaping of human rela¬tionships with the natural environment. It points to the examples of anthro¬pocentric transformation of nature and the consequences thereof. Deeper analysis leads to the conclusion that the existing emphasis of environmental education was on natural aspects, while neglecting no less important social issues, including human health. This article is devoted to demonstrating the interrelationships and dependencies of environmental education and preventive healthcare, from definition through to various activities and finally effects. The article clearly promotes being active, highlighting the importance of being involved in the development of gardens, which are important both in terms of the protection of the natural environment, through the development and diversification of the landscape, and in the maintenance of good physical and mental condition. In summary, the article puts forward the notion that in going through life, it is worthwhile to really care about one’s health and the natural environment, especially since one is dependent on the other

    Opis:
    A perusal of Conrad’s novels and Norwid’s Civilization easily allows us to discern a similarity of ideas. Both authors analyse the social consequences of technological progress and are particularly disturbed by the illusionary feeling of security that it brings, coming from a conviction that the forces of nature have finally been subdued. Modernity deprives Man of his greatness - it “takes the spell away”. With the disappearance of the common toil that holds people together comes a loosening of social bonds. Norwid wrote his Civilization in reaction to the news of the sinking of the Pacific - a steamship on which he had once returned from America. Conrad for his part was fascinated by the greatest sea disaster of his times: the sinking of the Titanic. The reluctance of both authors to acknowledge progress as an absolute entity may be explained by their shared Romantic view of the world, which was incompatible with any order based solely on “material interests”.

    W niniejszym artykule ukazana została polemika polskiego filozofa Wojciecha Dzieduszyckiego (1848–1909) z jednym z postępowych haseł głoszonych w XIX wieku. Hasło to sam Dzieduszycki określił jako „bezwyznaniowość”. Autor artykułu analizuje argumentację Dzieduszyckiego co do negatywnych skutków wyrugowania religii z życia publicznego, zarówno w przeszłości, jak i w czasach mu współczesnych, a także ukazuje pozytywną rolę religii w życiu jednostek, państw, narodów, a nawet całych cywilizacji. Bez religii bowiem, twierdził polski myśliciel, społeczności degradują się i obumierają. Ciekawa, a współcześnie bardzo ważna dyskusja o roli religii w życiu społecznym, została w artykule zestawiona z propagowaną przez Dzieduszyckiego ideą „mesjanizmu polskiego” (jako właściwej odpowiedzi na kryzys cywilizacyjny), jak również z obecnymi dziś w kulturze i polityce propozycjami radykalnej laicyzacji.
    This article considers the polemic of the Polish philosopher Wojciech Dzieduszycki (1848–1909) against one of the progressive slogans of the 19th century. Dzieduszycki himself described this slogan as „irreligiousness”. This paper analyses Dzieduszycki’s arguments regarding the negative consequences following the exclusion of religion from the public sphere, in both past and Dzieduszycki’s times, and also shows the extremely positive role of religion in the lives of individuals, states, nations, and even entire civilizations. Without religion, the Polish thinker claimed, communities degrade and die. An interesting and nowadays very important discussion about the role of religion in social life has been paired in the article with the idea of „Polish messianism” disseminated by Dzieduszycki. (as an appropriate response to the civilisational crisis), as well as with the radical secularism in our current culture and politics.
