    Opis:
    Xięga poezji idyllicznej, along with the letters of Maria Komornicka show the tragic discord between the optimistic approval of an idealized reality and the heroic struggle for respect of the rights to diversity. The aim of this study was to re-read the poetry and biography of Komornicka in the context of the metaphysical project of the affirmation of otherness, which shows an alternative reality. The work of Komornicka-Włast has been accepted as a unique testimony of courage – a crippled demiurge is allowed to praise the work of God, and a mentally exhausted, humiliated woman can be just a man.
    Xięga poezji idyllicznej wraz z listami Marii Komornickiej ukazują tragiczny rozdźwięk pomiędzy optymistyczną aprobatą idealizowanej rzeczywistości (w wyobrażeniach poetyckich) a heroiczną walką o poszanowanie praw do godności i odmienności (w korespondencji do rodziny i przyjaciół). Celem niniejszego opracowania było ponowne odczytanie poezji i biografii Komornickiej w kontekście metafizycznego projektu afirmacji inności, przedstawiającego alternatywną rzeczywistość. Prace Komornickiej-Własta to wyraz niezwykłego świadectwa odwagi – tylko na kartach Xięgi mógł bowiem zaistnieć okaleczony demiurg sławiący nieskończoną dobroć Boga, konstruujący alternatywną rzeczywistość, w której inność nie jest powodem do wstydu i w której wyczerpanej psychicznie i poniżonej do granic ludzkiej godności kobiecie wolno być po prostu mężczyzną.

    The aim of this article was to present a comparative interpretation of the selected poems by Tymoteusz Karpowicz (the poem alfaŚWIATŁOWSTĄPIENIE and a few accompanying poems) and Ezra Pound (The Cantos: LXXX, LXXXI and LXXXIII). The texts have been selected because of the theme of light, sun and visual perception. The comparative method is supposed to show 20th-century Polish poetry in the context of Anglo-American modernism. The relationship between the two poets seems to be hypothetical and one-sided. It has not been established so far whether the writings of Karpowicz were inspired by Pound’s texts. Thus, the article realized a model of contactless, comparative literary study, where comparisons are made on the basis of a typologic relationship. The first part of the article presented the theme of light in some non-poetic texts by Karpowicz and Pound and in their conception of art. The next two parts focus on the interpretation of poetry. The last chapter contained the conclusions drawn from the comparative analysis of chosen texts. The motif of light became not only a link between the selected poems, but also a reason for the comparison of the poetical techniques, specificity of style and the functions of linguistic experiments. The philosophical, Biblical, literary and even scientific contexts were evoked. A theoretical background was represented by the notion of reading/interpretation by Wolfgang Iser, transtextuality by Gérard Genette and the category of a model reader by Umberto Eco. The literary projects of Karpowicz and Pound impel readers to consider several issues. The most significant are: the limits of interpretation, obscurity or inexplicability of modern poetry and the problems of literary communication.

    The text is an interpretation of Stanisław Barańczak’s poem From the introduction to a phrasebook. The reading of the lyric reveals a basic organizing opposition, i.e. the dichotomy of “liquidity” (“shallowness”) and “depth”. The final parts of the interpretation present the role of poetic language (defined through modernistic concepts) as a language that gives the opportunity to counter the aporia inherent in every act of communication.

    The article presents an unofficial discussion that took place between one of the most prominent Polish critics of the late 19th century and Antoni Lange, a raising poet of the 90s, whose work had gained little attention from the older colleague. Mentioned briefly in Chmielowski’s Współczesni poeci polscy in 1895, Lange responded to some of the critic’s fterwards. Chmielowski did not respond to that directly, however, his review of Lange’s volume of poetry published at the time and the will to defend his claims using the adversary’s poetry as a pretext shows that the young poet had succeeded in provoking the respected critic to take defensive position. The two writers, discussing an ongoing ‘crisis’ of poetry, present their own perspectives on the roots of the situation. Chmielowski’s claims from the beginning of the 20th century prove that the dispute, unofficial as it was, was won by Antoni Lange.
