    Opis:
    The Book of Wisdom is one of those late biblical Judaism texts that were created in the context of the creative confrontation with the Hellenic culture prevailing at that time. This confrontation concerned, among others, the basic question of faith of the chosen people, namely, the profession of the one only God who manifests his justice in the events of national and universal history. The basic event for the author of the Book of Wisdom is the exodus of Israel from Egypt, the aim of which was the entry of the chosen people into the Promised Land. On this way the nation experienced Godʼs Justice that proved to be his Grace and Mercy.

    The message of God’s mercy has become the subject of a great extent of studies taken mostly up from the perspective of Dogmatic Theology or Spiritual Theology. It seems the matter of social interpretation of this message still remains wide open. Meanwhile, The Diary and John Paul II’s Encyclical Letter Dives in misericordia as well, which the writings of St. Faustina constitute an unquestionable inspiration, are far from interpreting mercy merely in an ascetic and individual dimension. Both of the texts distinctly encourage broadening the social aspect of the interpretation of mercy as the element of the renovation of the social life, which is the subject of this study.

    The author aims at presenting mercy in the letters of St. Paul in the aspect of the enriching relation of God towards man. He analyses the most representative texts, containing the semantic base: ἔλεος–ἐλεέω and οἰκτιρμός–οἰκτίρω. He takes the personal experience of God’s mercy in the apostle’s life as the starting point. Then, he attempts to deduce how it has influenced the development of the doctrine of mercy and how it has reflected in the practice of the Christian life. Finally, he enquires about the maturity of the Pauline doctrine of God’s mercy.
    Autor stawia sobie za cel prezentację miłosierdzia w listach św. Pawła w aspekcie ubogacającej relacji Boga do człowieka. Poddaje analizie najbardziej reprezentatywne teksty, które zawierają bazę semantyczną: ἔλεος–ἐλεέω i οἰκτιρμός–οἰκτίρω. Punktem wyjścia czyni osobiste doświadczenie miłosierdzia Bożego w życiu apostoła. Następnie podejmuje próbę wnioskowania jak ono wpłynęło na rozwój nauki o miłosierdziu i jakie znalazło przełożenie na praktykę życia chrześcijańskiego. W końcu zadaje pytanie o dojrzałość Pawłowej nauki o Bożym miłosierdziu.

    La creazione dell'uomo è stato l'evento importante, anche per Dio. Per motivo dell'uomo Dio è per il mondo non solo il Creatore. L'intera storia della salvezza ne testimonia chiaramente. Il fatto che Dio è il Creatore dell'uomo, garantisce la corretta valutazione degli uomini e tutte le cose umane. L'uomo intero è immagine di Dio. Tutto ciò che costituisce l'essenza dell’uomo, ha il suo riferimento al Creatore. Il Creatore ha il diritto della Sua creazione, anche dell'uomo. Nessun altro ha il diritto dell'uomo come Dio, che lo ha creato. Dio è per l'uomo il garante della dignità umana già al livello della creazione, e poi di tutta la storia della salvezza.

    Opis:
    The author of this publication draws attention to the fact that in the face of the spread of dangerous forms of social and economic injustice and political corruption, currently there is an urgent need for a radical renewal of individuals and societies that could provide and ensure justice, solidarity, honesty and transparency. According to the autor, the most complex problems can be solved only on the foundation of the truth where: the highest Good and moral good are present and confronted, as this is the place where a human being, by obeying the transcendent truth, acquires his/her full identity. To the author, this dimension emphasizes the argument that modern totalitarianism is born as a result of negating the transcendent dignity of the human being, which is a visible image of invisible God and hence, by its very nature, the subject of laws that cannot be broken or ignored by individuals, groups, classes, nations or states. Therefore, according to the author, a human being should obey the moral norm in every even the most dificult life situation „in order to obey the God's holy commandment and act in accordance with his/her personal dignity. Moreover, Król emphasizes the fact of obedience to the God's law, which, by presenting the attitude of a number of holy men and women, who proclaimed the moral truth and defended it as martyrs or chose death over committing one mortal sin, shows the Church to the faithful and all people of good will. Noteworthy is the fact that, in the opinion of the author, the Church canonized so many people and thus, confirmed the testimonies of their lives, by publicly recognizing their conviction that „God's love requires us to obey His commandments unconditionally even in the most difficult circumstances and breaking them even to save one’s own life is not allowed”.
    Autor niniejszej publikacji zwraca uwagę na fakt, że wobec szerzenia się groźnych form niesprawiedliwości społecznej i gospodarczej oraz korupcji politycznej, w naszych czasach jawi się pilna potrzeba radykalnej odnowy jednostek i społeczeństw, która byłaby zdolna zapewnić sprawiedliwość, solidarność, uczciwość i jawność. Rozwiązanie najbardziej złożonych problemów może się dokonać tylko na fundamencie prawdy w której się spotykają: najwyższe Dobro i dobro moralne. Na tej to płaszczyźnie człowiek zdobywa swą pełną tożsamość przez posłuszeństwo prawdzie transcendentnej. W tym wymiarze autor eksponuje argument, że nowoczesny totalitaryzm rodzi się z negacji transcendentnej godności osoby ludzkiej, która jest widzialnym obrazem Boga niewidzialnego i stąd, z samej swej natury, podmiotem praw, których nie może łamać i lekceważyć jednostka, grupa, klasa, naród czy państwo. Dlatego też człowiek powinien przestrzegać normy moralnej w każdej nawet najtrudniejszej sytuacji życia, „aby okazać posłuszeństwo świętemu przykazaniu Bożemu i postąpić zgodnie ze swą osobową godnością”. Ponadto autor podkreśla fakt posłuszeństwa prawu Bożemu, które ukazuje Kościół swoim wiernym oraz wszystkim ludziom dobrej woli w postawie licznych świętych mężczyzn i kobiet, którzy głosili prawdę moralną i bronili jej aż do męczeństwa bądź też woleli umrzeć niż popełnić choćby jeden grzech śmiertelny. Godnym uwagi jest fakt, że Kościół wyniósł tak wielu ludzi do chwały ołtarzy, potwierdzając tym samym ich świadectwo życia i publicznie uznając za słuszne ich przekonanie, „że miłość Boga każe bezwarunkowo przestrzegać Jego przykazań nawet w najtrudniejszych okolicznościach i nie pozwala ich łamać nawet dla ratowania własnego życia”.

    Opis:
    St. Augustine interprets the tragedy of Job presented in the Bible by two coincidental and connected with each other scenes: the first describes the history of man depressed with suffering, who lost his property, family and health, where the second one shows the dialog on the spiritual level between God and Satan, in consequence of which Satan receives the power of doing damage (potestas nocendi) to Job. The matter of this power, its range and goal are examined by The Bishop of Hippo by means of the relationship analysis between God, deviland Job. The power of harming comes from God and He is definitely responsible for Job’s suffering. He gives this power for devil but only for making man more prefect and revealing His justice. Where the action of devil is the charge of insincere devotion, jealousy, suspecting of hidden sin and temptation of Job in order to make him turn around from God. But for Job the experience of suffering is the trial which is given from God and by it God demands from Job taking a decision. His reply to God is described by St. Augustine as trust and agreement his will with God’s will. The power of harming is limited first by God’s will and permission given by Him, next by devil’s nature as a creature which has to ask for harming permission and hasn’t got any access to human heart, and later by Job’s will and a choice made by him. So potestas nocendi is not license of devil, but first of all the power of God and devil’s desire of harming.

    This article is a re-edited text of the conference which was presented by the author. It discusses the problem of God’s justice in relation to an individual on the example of the Book of Job. The first part of the article starts with the question how difficult or even insignificant is to talk about God based on the Bible. The second part tries to demonstrate on the basis of the Book of Job in what way and how much great biblical texts have to offer both to believers and unbelievers.
    Il presente articolo è una rielaborazione di una conferenza tenuta dall’autore. Il suo argomento è la questione della giustizia divina in contrapposizione alla situazione concreta dell’essere umano, prendendo come modello il testo del libro di Giobbe. Una prima parte si rivolge alla domanda, come mai sia diventato difficile e forse irrilevante parlare di Dio a partire della Bibbia. La seconda parte cerca di mostrare, a partire di una riflessione sul libro di Giobbe, in quale modo i grandi testi biblici abbiano ancora molto da dire ai credenti e ai non credenti.
    Niniejszy artykuł jest przepracowanym na nowo tekstem konferencji wygłoszonej przez autora. Porusza problem Bożej sprawiedliwości w odniesieniu do konkretnej sytuacji istoty ludzkiej, biorąc za przykład tekst Księgi Hioba. Pierwsza część artykułu wychodzi od pytania, jak trudne, a może nawet nieznaczące, stało się mówienie o Bogu oparte na Biblii. Druga część artykułu, z kolei, stara się ukazać na podstawie Księgi Hioba, w jaki sposób i jak niemało wielkie teksty biblijne mają jeszcze do powiedzenia wierzącym i niewierzącym.
