The article presents this teaching of the pope Benedict XVI, which deals with the mystery of the Heart of Jesus. Benedict XVI remarks that the essence of Christianity is expressed in the Heart of Jesus. The mystery of the most holy Heart of Jesus shows the sensitive, sincere, sympathetic and compassionate love of God, which reveals itself mainly in the cross of the Redeemer. The experience of this love is a force which changes human’s existence. Benedict XVI shows that the task of Christians is to intensify the connection with the Heart of Jesus – this connection should reinvigorate their faith in the saving love of God.

Joseph kard. Ratzinger w swojej twórczości teologicznej poświęcał uwagę estetyce, a zwłaszcza estetykom muzyki sakralnej. Interpretację opierał na teologii dogmatycznej nakierowanej chrystologicznie. Samą zaś estetykę wiązał z faktem przebicia Serca Pana Jezusa na krzyżu. Twierdził bowiem, że prawdziwe piękno łączy się z prawdą i nie może zaistnieć bez przyjęcia cierpienia, czego wyrazem jest przebicie serca. W przeciwnym razie piękno byłoby fałszywe, ponieważ odwodziłoby od ludzkiego życia. Tymczasem Chrystus stał się człowiekiem, gdyż współczuł ludziom. Również ta kategoria ma ważne miejsce w estetyce muzyki sakralnej. Droga piękna to droga powrotu do Boga w prawdzie. Henryk Mikołaj Górecki to kompozytor, którego twórczość często jest nadmiernie wiązana z postacią Maryi. Tymczasem Jezus Chrystus również ma swoje miejsce w muzycznym dorobku Góreckiego, również w aspekcie Najświętszego Serca.
Joseph card. Ratzinger in his theological works, devoted an important place to the aesthetics, especially the aesthetics of sacred music. He based his interpretation on the dogmatic theology directed towards Christology. He associated aesthetics with the fact that the Heart of Jesus Christ was pierced on the cross. He argued that true beauty is linked to truth and cannot exist without suffering, which is expressed by piercing the heart. Otherwise, beauty would be false as it would distract from human life. Meanwhile, Christ became a man because he felt compassion for people. This category also plays an important role in the aesthetics of sacred music. The way of beauty is the way to return to God in truth. Henryk Mikołaj Górecki is a composer whose work is often excessively associated with the figure of Mary. Meanwhile, Jesus Christ also has his place in Górecki’s musical output, also in the aspect of the Sacred Heart.

Od pierwszych wieków chrześcijaństwa Kościół dostrzegał kwestię istnienia i odkrywania charyzmatów. Są one wzbudzane we wspólnocie Kościoła przez Ducha Świętego. Charyzmaty muszą być uznane, aby móc służyć wspólnocie wierzących. Jednym z rodzajów charyzmatów są charyzmaty zgromadzeń zakonnych. Wśród nich znajduje się charyzmat Zgromadzenia Księży Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego założonego przez o. Leona Dehona. Główny problem tego artykułu sprowadza się do pytania o przyjęcie tego charyzmatu w duszpasterstwie młodzieży. Aby rozwinąć to zagadnienie, autor w ramach teologii pastoralnej zastosował następujący schemat: przypomniał definicję charyzmatu i wynikające z tego warunki tożsamości i duszpasterstwa, krótko opisał podstawowe formy duszpasterstwa młodzieży w Polskiej Prowincji Zgromadzenia Księży Sercanów, następnie opisał kwestię recepcji kościelnej oraz wysunął końcowe wnioski w postaci imperatywów duszpasterskich. Pierwszy imperatyw wymaga odwagi, by dzielić charyzmat Zgromadzenia z nieustannym odkrywaniem tożsamości instytutu zakonnego. Drugi imperatyw dotyczy działalności i formacji w duchu katolickiej nauki społecznej.
From the first centuries of Christianity, the Church saw the issue of the existence and discovery of charisms. They were and are raised in the community of the Church by the Holy Spirit. They must be recognized to serve the community of believers. Charisms of religious congregations are one of the charism types. Among them is the charism of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, founded by Father Leon Dehon. The main problem of the work boils down to the question of the reception of this charism in youth ministry. In order to develop such a problem, the author, in the framework of pastoral theology, used the following scheme. He recalled the definition of the charism and the resulting terms of identity and pastoral care. He briefly described the basic forms of pastoral ministry of the youth in the Polish Province of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Then he described the issue of the ecclesiastic reception and gave pastoral imperatives as final conclusions. The first imperative calls for courage in sharing the charism of the Congregation with the constant discovery of the identity of a religious institute. The other one for activity and formation in the spirit of Catholic Social Teaching.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie inspiracji monastycznych w interpretacji biblijnego opisu przebicia boku Zbawiciela na przykładzie Vita Jesu Christi Ludolfa z Saksonii. Autor ten wywarł duży wpływ na wielu mistyków i świętych, a jego medytacje na temat bramy wprowadzającej do kontemplacji Serca Syna Bożego, bazujące zwłaszcza na tekstach biblijnych i patrystycznych, do dzisiaj stanowią ważny wkład w duchowość Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego.
The theology of the pierced side of Jesus Christ is one of the most important elements of the spirituality of the Divine Heart. The aim of the article is to show monastic inspirations in the interpretation of the biblical description of the piercing of the side of the Saviour using the example of Vita Jesu Christi by Ludolf from Saxony. This author had a great influence on many mystics and saints, and his meditations on the gate leading to the contemplation of the Heart of the Son of God, based especially on biblical and patristic texts, are an important contribution to the spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to this day.

Sięganie do źródeł i korzeni duchowości własnego instytutu zakonnego to zadanie i misja każdego zgromadzenia. Ten sposób działania jest jedną z dróg aktualizowania charyzmatu założyciela we współczesnym świecie. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie osoby o. Leona Jana Dehona, założyciela Zgromadzenia Księży Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego jako człowieka, który miał otwarte serce i umysł wobec Boga i wyzwań, z jakimi borykał się Kościół i świat we Francji na przełomie XIX i XX wieku. Szybki rozwój przemysłowy oraz nowe ruchy społeczno-polityczne doprowadziły do zmiany ustroju społecznego w Europie. Wyłoniona w wyniku transformacji ustrojowej najliczniejsza klasa robotnicza znalazła się w trudnej sytuacji bytowej. Jednym z pionierów, który zajął się tzw. „kwestią społeczną”, był o. Leon Jan Dehon. Od początku swojej działalności duszpasterskiej oddał się w pełni pracy na rzecz najuboższych, formacji elit, podnoszeniu świadomości kleru w kwestiach społecznych oraz pójściu z Ewangelią do ludu. Jego działanie oparte na Tradycji Kościoła oraz nowe metody duszpasterskie przyniosły mu szybko uznanie oraz tytuł „pioniera dzieł społecznych”.
To reach the roots of one’s monastic order’s spirituality is believed to be a task and a mission of each congregation. One considers such an activity as one of the ways of keeping the founder’s mission up-to-date in the modern world. This article aims at showing Fr. Leon Jan Dehon, the founder of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, as a broad-minded man with an open heart to both God and challenges faced by the Church and France on the turn of the 19th century. Rapid industrial development and new social and political movements led to the change of social system in Europe. Not only was the newly created working class most numerous but also in hopeless plight. One of those who devoted themselves to the ministry of social justice was Fr. Leon Jan Dehon. Since the very beginning he had become fully involved in social work among the poor, work with the elite, rising awareness of the clergy in the social matters as well as acquainting the working classes with the Gospel. His activity based on the Tradition of the Church together with the new priestly methods soon brought him esteem and being called „the progenitor of social works”.

Niniejsze opracowanie jest próbą ukazania bogatej treści tekstów biblijnych przewidzianych na uroczystość Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa oraz zasadniczych tematów teologicznych, które należy podjąć w głoszeniu homilii we wspomniane święto. Praca została ujęta w trzech częściach. W pierwszej części artykułu została dokonana ogólna prezentacja źródeł przepowiadania podczas mszy o Najświętszym Sercu na podstawie tekstów świętych. Następnie dokładniej przedstawiono i omówiono teksty biblijne przewidziane na tę uroczystość, a na koniec zaprezentowano główne tematy, które tego dnia powinni podjąć homiliści.
The aim of the compilation below is to present the rich content of biblical readings used during the ceremony of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, as well as some basic theological themes which should be discussed during the homily of the aforementioned feast. The thesis consists of three parts. The first portion contains the general presentation of sources of preaching based on holy texts that represent the Sacred Heart of Jesus during the Mass. In the second portion, various liturgical texts assigned for this feast are discussed in further detail. Finally, the thesis specifies the main topics which should be preached on this holy day.

Termin „uświęcenie” w teologii pojawia się praktycznie zawsze w kontekście liturgicznym. Zgodnie z nauką II Soboru Watykańskiego liturgia jest najdoskonalszym, choć nie jedynym, miejscem uświęcania życia ludzkiego. Wśród innych form szczególne miejsce zajmuje pobożność ludu chrześcijańskiego, która choć posiada cechy partykularyzmu, może mieć ogromny wpływ na Kościół powszechny. W tym kontekście ukazana została relacja, jaka zachodzi pomiędzy pobożnością ludu chrześcijańskiego a procesem uświęcania, który najpełniej wyraża się właśnie w liturgii. W tekście autor poddaje analizie kult Serca Jezusowego w świetle dwóch istotnych liturgicznie cech: oddania czci Bogu i dzieła apostolskiego, które jest owocem uświęcającej mocy liturgii. Dodatkowym elementem pozostaje ukazanie kultu Serca Jezusowego w kontekście historycznym i wpływu pobożności ludowej na oficjalne zatwierdzenie tekstów i świąt liturgicznych.
The term „sanctification” in theology practically always appears in the liturgical context. According to the teachings of the Second Vatican Council, the liturgy is the most perfect, though not the only, place to sanctify human life. Among other forms, a special place of devotion of the Christian people should be mentioned, which, although having the characteristics of particularism, can have a huge impact on the universal Church. In this context, the relationship between the piety of the Christian people and the process of sanctification, which is most precisely expressed in the liturgy, has been shown. In the text, the author analyzes the worship of the Heart of Jesus in the light of two liturgically significant features: worship of God and apostolic work, which is the fruit of the sanctifying power of the liturgy. An additional element remains to show the worship of the Heart of Jesus in the historical context and the impact of popular piety on the official approval of texts and liturgical feasts.

Formacja do ślubu ubóstwa jest jednym z elementów formacji osób konsekrowanych zmierzającej do życia radami ewangelicznymi. W Zgromadzeniu Księży Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego wszystkie śluby zakonne wpisane są w rys wynagradzający Instytutu oraz otrzymują wymiar oblacyjny, podkreślający całkowite oddanie się Bogu poprzez konsekrację. Dokumenty Zgromadzenia obok celu i różnych aspektów formacji określają również istotę ślubu ubóstwa, zachęcając do życia jego duchem. Celem formacji jest kształtowanie serca zakonnika, który coraz bardziej winien odzwierciedlać w sobie sposób życia ubogiego, jaki obrał Jezus Chrystus. Formacja ta ma także wymiar wspólnotowy, gdyż wspólnota winna stawać się świadkiem dóbr nieprzemijających, w czym wyraża się jej wymiar profetyczny.
Formation towards the vow of poverty is one of the elements of the preparation of consecrated persons aimed at living according to evangelical counsels. In the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus all three vows are inscribed in the figure of reparation characteristic for the Institute as well as oblation dimension which underlines total devotion to God through religious consecration. The documents of the Congregation besides the goals and various aspects of formation also set out the essence of the vow of poverty, encouraging life with its spirit. The goal of formation is to shape the heart of a religious person, who supposed to more and more reflect in himself the way of life of the poor which was chosen by Jesus Christ. That formation has also the community dimension, through which the religious community should become a witness of non-remissive goods and thus its prophetic dimension.

Oblation is one of the key terms of the spirituality of the Congregation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus founded by the venerable Servant of God, Father Leon Dehon. The main aim of the article is to draw attention to this characteristic feature of the charism included in the current Rule of Life. It influences the experience of their own spirituality by contemporary Dehonians, as well as directs their formation.

Każdy kult chrześcijański posiada wymiar liturgiczny i egzystencjalny. Kult Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego także znacząco wpływa na postępowanie moralne człowieka. Oddawanie czci Bożemu Sercu prowadzi do poznania i naśladowania postawy moralnej Jezusa Chrystusa. Do najbardziej charakterystycznych elementów tej postawy należą: poświęcenie się i wynagrodzenie Sercu Jezusa oraz kontemplacyjna adoracja. Naśladując Jezusa Chrystusa, człowiek odnajduje w Nim nie tylko ideał i wzór cnót teologalnych i moralnych, ale też źródło i zachętę do ich realizacji.
Every Christian cult has liturgical and existential dimension. Cult of the Sacred Heart of Jesus significantly affects one’s moral conduct. Honoring Sacred Heart leads to knowing and following the moral attitude of Jesus Christ. Among the most characteristic elements of such attitude are for example self-sacrifice and reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and contemplative adoration. Following Jesus Christ human being finds in Him not only the ideal and model of theological and moral virtues but also source and encouragement to its fulfillment.

Z okazji 150. rocznicy święceń prezbiteratu o. Leona Dehona (1843-1925), artykuł podkreśla istotne punkty roli kapłaństwa w piśmiennictwie Dehona i jego charyzmatycznej realizacji w Zgromadzeniu, które założył. Określenie tego pojęcia przez poddanie go krytyce teologicznej uwidacznia pewne ograniczenia i rodzi pytanie, czy język kapłański używany przez Dehona odnosi się do wyjątkowej kontemplacji pełni misterium Jezusa Chrystusa, w której jako centralne ukazane jest wspólne kapłaństwo wiernych. Druga część artykułu analizuje konsekwencje dla tożsamości sercańskiej i przedstawia koncepcję „sercanina-kapłana” jako określenie, które najlepiej odzwierciedla to, co „proces charyzmatyczny” oferuje dzisiaj jako jedność powołania, tożsamości i przynależności.
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the priestly ordination of Fr. León Dehon (1843-1925), this article highlights the relevant points of the role that the priesthood has in the written work of Dehon and in its charismatic fulfillment in the Congregation he founded. Determining the concept by subjecting it to theological criticism makes the limits of this approach evident, and raises the question whether the priestly language used by Dehon refers to a unique contemplation of the total mystery of Jesus Christ in which the common priesthood of the faithful is indicated as central. The second part examines the consequences for Dehonian identity and presents the concept of „Dehonian-priest” as the expression that best reflects what the „charismatic process” offers today as a unity of vocation, identity and belonging.

Julia Ledóchowska was born on April 17, 1861 in Loosdorf. When she was 21, she joined a monastery in Cracow and took the new monastery’s name – Ursula. As she graduated school in France, she was allowed to teach French language. In the Ursuline School she taught natural sciences and mathematics. As a Mother Superior, she funded a boarding house for a girls in 1905. Two years later in 1907 she started to run the boarding house for girls in Petersburg. In years 1911–1914 she has organized cottage in Merentahti and gymnasium with catholic chapel. When the First world war has started, the nun Ursula went to Stockholm and she stayed there till 1915. In Sweden she helped with popularizing Committee For Help War Victims in Poland. She raised money, as well as organized lectures on polish history for Scandinavian people. On June 1, 1916 she formed Committee by herself. In years 1916–1918 the nun Ursula has established a foreign language school for a girl in Djursholm – Sprakinstut which was the first language school in whole Scandinavia. In Djursholm she was a editor of the first catholic period Solglimtar (meaning sunrays). In Scandinavia, she took part in many conferences and gave a lot speeches. She also published her book entitled Polonica, in which she presented articles about polish history, art and literature in a Scandinavian language. In Denmark situation of polish child was very bad. The mortality among Polish workers left many homeless child. The nun Ursula has organized for the orphanage for then. On 10 September, 1918 she funded economic school in Aalborg. When the WWI finished, Ursula Ledóchowska returned to independent Poland. She established a new section of the Ursuline Sister of the Agonizing Heart of Jesus. On 7 June, 1920 the monastery got permission for the canonical erection. In Pniewy by the monastery, there was a school for a girl, which was changed into the 3-yearschool for economy teachers. it was took change for 3 years economy teachers. Sister Ursula established several Female Boarding School Houses in Warsaw, Poznań and Wilno. She brought Eucharistic Crusade to Poland. Sister Ursula died on May 29, 1939. She became blessed on June 20, 1983, and was canonized by pope John Paul II on May 18, 2003.

250 lat temu zostało zatwierdzone liturgiczne święto Serca Pana Jezusa. Obchodzone jest ono w piątek po Oktawie Uroczystości Ciała i Krwi Pańskiej (potocznie zwanej Bożym Ciałem). Dokumentem, który niejako przypieczętował zatwierdzenie tego święta, był Memoriał biskupów polskich z 1765 r. Dlatego też każdy czciciel Bożego Serca powinien przeczytać i znać ten dokument. 250 rocznica zatwierdzenia uroczystości jest do tego najlepsza okazją. Dokument przedstawia początek historycznego rozwoju kultu Serca Jezusowego i jego znaczenie dla każdego wiernego. Co więcej, dokument ten pokazuje argumenty za wprowadzeniem liturgicznego obchodu święta Serca Zbawiciela. Memoriał stwierdza wyraźnie, że w Kościele istnieje i rozwija się prawowierny kultu Serca Jezusowego, przyjęty i stale promowany przez Stolicę Apostolską. Dlatego też domaga się on wprowadzenia właściwego formularza Mszy św. i brewiarza. Biskupi polscy w Memoriale proszą w szczególny sposób o zatwierdzenie wspomnianych tekstów dla Polski. Jednym z powodów jest żywa cześć Narodu Polskiego wobec Bożego Serca oraz związane z tym kultem jego nadzieje.
The liturgical Solemnity of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus was approved 250 years ago. This solemnity is celebrating on the Friday after the octave of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). The Polish bishops Memorial of 1765 was really important document which helped in approval the Sacred Heart solemnity. That is why every Sacred Heart worshipper should read and know this document. 250th anniversary of approval this worship is the best time to do this. The Memorial presents the beginning of Sacred Heart worship history and meaning this worship for every worshipper. What is more this document shows arguments for approval of the liturgical solemnity of the Sacred Heart. Memorial shows clearly that orthodox Sacred Heart worship exist in the Church and this worship is accepted and still promoting by the Holy See. That is why this worship needs official approval of the appropriate form of the Mass, and breviary. Polish Bishops Memorial especially ask for approval of these texts for Poland. One of the reasons of it is Polish people are real Sacred Heart worshippers and they believe that this Heart helps them in every difficult situation.
