Artykuł jest poświęcony wpływowi Wulgaty Lowańskiej na warsztat Jakuba Wujka – jednego z najbardziej znanych tłumaczy biblijnych XVI w. Zależność ta została ukazana na przykładzie perykopy o obietnicy prymatu św. Piotra z Mt 16, 13-20. Do tej pory w badaniach nad metodą tego jezuity z Wągrowca posługiwano się przypadkowymi wydaniami Wulgaty (różnymi od tych, z których tłumacz korzystał, a nawet współczesnymi), co prowadziło do błędnych wniosków na temat jego warsztatu. Niniejszy artykuł zawiera dokładnie te edycje, na których Wujek opierał swoją pracę. To doprowadziło do odkrycia, że noty marginalne umieszczane przez tłumacza przy tekstach nie były sporządzane przez niego, ale przepisywane z Wulgaty Lowańskiej.
The article is devoted to the influence of the Louvain edition of the Vulgate on the workshop of Jakub Wujek, one of the most famous 16th-century translators of the Bible. This relationship is shown based on the example of the pericope concerning the promise of the primacy of St Peter from Matthew 16:13‒20. Until now, studies of the method of the Jesuit from Wągrowiec have availed themselves at random of various editions of the Vulgate (different from those used by the translator, including even modern translations), leading to erroneous conclusions about his workshop. The article comprises the exact editions on which Wujek based his work. This method enabled the discovery that the marginal notes added to the text by the translator were not compiled by him, but transcribed from the Louvain edition of the Vulgate.

The subject of this paper is finding foundations for the identity of the disciples of Christ in the Gospel in a world where all borders are getting blurred and where we need to show a clear image of a disciple of the Lord. This objective was achieved through the exegesis of John 17: 9-19 by using the biblical Semitic rhetoric and taking into account the latest literature on the subject of research. The essential stages of this dissertation were: a delimitation of the analysed text, a description of the biblical context, the interpretation and the theological conclusions, all distributed in three chapters. In the beginning of the first chapter, the delimitation was discussed, to show the further and the closer context of John 17. Then, using a top-down analysis, the three units were separated: 1d-8, 9-19 and 20-26. The central unit (9-19), which expresses the prayer of the Son for his disciples, was chosen for the further part of the dissertation. Using a rhetorical analysis method the three parts was discovered (9-11c, 11d-13 and 14-19) which are composed in an ABA’ structure. For each of them, the internal structure of the analysed fragment was described. This was necessary to carry out a correct interpretation. In the second chapter, an interpretation of the individual parts of the text was conducted, proceeded by an analysis of the biblical context for each of them. This analysis showed the links between the studied pericope and the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15: 31-32), or with the prayer “Our Father” (Matt 6: 9-13). The third chapter, which consists of two paragraphs shows the composition of the whole rhetorical passage that leads to the theological conclusions. The structure shows that the essence of the message of John 17: 9-19 is the love of the Father, which takes imperfect sons, so that they can become truly for themselves brothers.
Przedmiotem badań w niniejszym artykule jest poszukiwanie fundamentów tożsamości ucznia Chrystusa znajdujących się w Ewangelii, aby w obliczu świata, w którym wszelkie granice się rozmywają, na nowo pokazać wyraźne rysy ucznia Pana. Cel ten został zrealizowany poprzez egzegezę fragmentu 17. rozdziału Ewangelii według św. Jana (J 17,9-19), z wykorzystaniem biblijnej retoryki semickiej oraz z uwzględnieniem najnowszej literatury z zakresu przedmiotu badań. Zasadnicze etapy pracy, którymi były: delimitacja badanego fragmentu, opis kontekstu biblijnego, interpretacja i wyciągnięcie wniosków teologicznych, zostały ujęte w 3 punktach. Na początku pierwszego punktu omówiono delimitację, ukazując kontekst dalszy oraz bliższy dla J 17. Następnie z zastosowaniem analizy odgórnej wydzielono w nim 3 jednostki: 1d-8, 9-19 i 20-26. Do dalszej pracy wybrano fragment środkowy (9-19), którego treścią jest modlitwą Syna za uczniów. Poprzez zastosowanie metody analizy retorycznej udało się w badanym tekście wyszczególnić 3 części (9-11c, 11d-13 oraz 14-19) ułożone koncentrycznie w schemacie ABA’. Dla każdej z nich została opisana struktura wewnętrzna konieczna do przeprowadzenia właściwej interpretacji. W punkcie drugim przeprowadzono interpretację poszczególnych części poprzedzoną analizą kontekstu biblijnego dla każdej z nich. Ta analiza pozwoliła m.in. zobaczyć powiązanie badanej perykopy z przypowieścią o syn marnotrawnym (Łk 15, 31-32), oraz z modlitwą „Ojcze nasz” (Mt 6,9-13), a przez to, dostrzec głębszy sens tekstu biblijnego. Trzeci punkt, który składa się z dwóch podpunktów, pokazuje kompozycję retoryczną całego fragmentu, prowadzącą do wniosków teologicznych. Na jej podstawie pokazano, że istotą przesłania J 17,9-19 jest miłość Ojca, która przyjmuje niedoskonałych synów, aby ci mogli prawdziwie stać się dla siebie braćmi.

What is referred to as the Fifth Gospel is the tangible and intangible memorabilia from the area of the present-day Holy Land. The buildings, landscape, nature, social atmosphere and customs cultivated till this very day allow to have a better understanding of the inspired biblical texts. The authors prove this thesis to be valid. They show that although it is mainly used in the pastoral care of pilgrims, it is not devoid of theological foundations. People experience faith also in a physical manner. Sensual experiences associated with the stay in the Holy Land make it easier to grasp spiritual matters and to reinforce faith. The article illustrates the issue in question with a few practical examples. The closing paragraphs formulate pastoral postulates. They show how the experience of visiting the land of biblical events can be used in the pastoral care of pilgrims more effectively.

The article surveys recent scholarship on the use of creation imagery inthe Gospel of John, with the aim of presenting rather exhaustive register ofpossible references. Both the obvious and the less clear-cut allusions to Gen1–3 are discussed, the main focus being to accumulate and assess evidence(for or against) all the apparent references to creation imagery. Included inthis examination are several unconvincing and even far-fetched proposalsadvanced by some modern scholars, in order to give the fullest possiblepicture of current discourse on these issues. After discussing the creationtheme in the Prologue (1:1–18), the article explores the presence of creationimagery in the Book of Signs (1:19–12:50) and the Book of Glory (13:1–21:25).

The author focuses on the quotations from the psalms that we find in the description of Jesus’ Passion in the Gospel of St. Mathew. It turns out that almost all the quotations from the psalms (with the exception of 26, 64: Ps 109, 1 LXX) stress the human nature of Jesus, i.e. they are anthropologically oriented. The author discusses each of the seven quotations in the context of the psalm, and then in the context of Jesus’ Passion. Following partly the Gos¬pel of St. Mark, St. Mathew enhances in the reader a belief that Jesus in His Passion is the Suffering Just and the suffering poor Jehovah.

Prezentowany artykuł przybliża wizerunek św. Piotra naszkicowany przez autora Czwartej Ewangelii. W dziele Janowym odkrywamy charakter i temperament tego apostoła. Ukazany jest on tutaj jako człowiek żywiołowy, porywczy, charakteryzujący się lojalnością wobec Mistrza, a także posiadający prymat wśród osób podążających za Nim. Uważna lektura poszczególnych perykop i wędrówka przez miejsca, do których prowadzi nas autor Czwartej Ewangelii, pozwalają ujrzeć proces wewnętrznej przemiany Piotra oraz etapy w jego drodze stawania się uczniem Jezusa.
The article presented here takes a closer look at the image of St Peter sketched by the author of the Fourth Gospel. In the work of John we discover the character and temperament of the Apostle. He is portrayed here as an impetuous, impulsive man, characterised by his loyalty to the Master and having primacy among those who follow him. A careful reading of the individual pericopes and a journey through the places to which the author of the Fourth Gospel leads us allow us to see the process of Peter’s inner transformation and the stages in his journey of becoming a disciple of Jesus.

L’autore del saggio propone uno studio sul tema della proclamazione nel Vangelo secondo Marco. L’ordine dei paragrafi è seguente: I. Il kerygma di Gesù; II. Il kerygma dei guariti; III. Il kerygma dei Dodici; IV. Il kerygma della Chiesa; V. Discepolato – una forma del kerygma. In Mc si nota la vera intensificazione temporale, geografica ed oggettiva della proclamazione. L’oggetto del kerygma nel secondo vangelo è molto ampio: l’avvicinamento della signoria di Dio; Gesù come Messia e Figlio di Dio, che tramite la sua proclamazione e le opere, morte e risurrezione, aveva confermato, che in Lui ed attraverso di Lui, Dio si è reso veramente e pienamente vicino all’uomo. La risposta adeguata al kerygma è il seguire Gesù, che suppone un’entrata alla comunione con Lui e una realizzazione di tutto ciò essa richiede. Solo così il kerygma in quanto è creduto diventa anche proclamato.

Ubranie odgrywa znaczącą rolę w życiu człowieka. Jego zapewnienie należy do podstawowych potrzeb ludzkich, ochrania ono ciało, zdobi człowieka, niekiedy wskazuje na jakieś szczególne wykonywane przez kogoś zadanie lub piastowany przez niego urząd. Łukasz, który jest doskonałym obserwatorem i narratorem poświęca wiele uwagi ubraniom, ich rodzajom, używaniu i znaczeniu, i to w różnych momentach życia. Poprzez ukazywanie sposobu ubierania się poszczególnych osób dokonuje swoistej charakterystyki postaci, a zwłaszcza Jezusa i Jana Chrzciciela. W ten sposób buduje paradygmaty życia rodzinnego, ubioru czy stylu życia. Jego postępowanie z pewnością nie stoi w sprzeczności ze słowami Jezusa: „życie bowiem więcej znaczy niż pokarm, a ciało więcej niż odzienie” (Łk 12,23).
Clothes have a significant role in a person’s life. Its having is one of the basic human needs, it protects the body, decorates a person, and sometimes indicates a special task performed by someone or an office held by him. Luke, who is an excellent observer and narrator, draws a lot of attention to clothes, their types, use and meaning, at various moments in life. By showing the way individual people dress, he makes a specific characterization of the characters, especially Jesus and John the Baptist. In this way he builds paradigms of family life, clothing and lifestyle. His actions certainly do not contradict the words of Jesus: “life is more than food, and the body than clothing” (Luke 12:23).

W artykule przedmiotem dokładniejszego badania jest perykopa zawarta w wersetach 33–50 rozdziału 9 Markowej Ewangelii. To nie tyle ogólne cechy stylu są przedmiotem opisu oraz refleksji, co jednostkowe środki literackiego opracowania perykopy, jej artystycznego wykończenia korzystającego z niektórych możliwości współbrzmienia wyrazów, a wyzyskanego lub pominiętego przez tłumaczy. Badanym materiałem są przekłady Ewangelii wg św. Marka na język polski, których autorami są redaktorzy-modyfikatorzy tłumaczenia o. Walentego Prokulskiego SJ w V wydaniu Biblii Tysiąclecia, tłumacz z zespołu Biblii paulistów, Roman Brandstaetter, ks. Marian Wolniewicz, Czesław Miłosz, o. Franciszek Sieg SJ (którego tekst stanowi w tym artykule główne źródło cytowania). Dobór autorów przekładów ma tutaj tę specyfikę, iż czterej spośród nich są także (a nawet w dwóch wypadkach głównie) poetami. Są to Brandstaetter, Miłosz, o. Sieg, ks. Wolniewicz. Dwa pozostałe zaś tłumaczenia pretendują wśród współczesnych polskich katolików do miana najpowszechniej używanych w nauczaniu Kościoła lokalnego
Newer translations of the Gospel according to St. Mark into the Polish language - as well as translations of other books of the Holy Bible - are characterized by a significant reduction of the use of an measures adopted in our culture as a style of biblical, though in varying degrees. In many cases, such measures are fully translatable into the Polish language - e.g. polysyndetic coordination from καὶ . The text of St. Mark uses relatively narrow vocabulary and frequent recurrence of the same expressions. They serve for a clearer arrangement of voicings, the euphony marks subtle literary composition of pericopes. Literary composition of the Gospel of St. Mark is being emphasized by the exploitation of the broad possibilities of semantic and aesthetic use of figures of words per adiectionem, especially the figures of the group widely understood geminatio. In this article detailed classification of these figures is treated cursorily, and main focus is on the compositional (disposable) and the literary consequences of their use in a part of text of 9,33-50 (it can be considered as an independent pericope). The article is the result of a comparison of pericope 9, 33-50 translations by Roman Brandstaetter, Marian Wolniewicz, Czesław Miłosz, Franciszek Sieg SJ, and specified in the fifth edition of the Millennium Bible, and the Paulines Bible. Four of these translators are also a poets. Attention was pointed to the varying degree of respecting of polysyndetic coordination from καὶ and the recurrence of words and phrases, such as. «On the way», «in My name», «accepts», «reason of sin,» «throw», «fire» and the role of antonymy «dispute» and «keep the peace». It turned out that in maintaining euphony of Brandstaetter’s translation healso used the sonic possibilities verses rhyme, which he wrote out the text according to the colometric system. He approached in this way to the construction of versification. The presence of the traditional features of the Polish language in these Bible translations was also noted - respected in varying degrees. Undoubtedly, those translators who also have a poetic legacy, broadly taken into account the aesthetic potential of euphony.

There are two variants of the text of Mk 9:2, which relate that the Transfiguration of Jesus occurred during prayer. One of these versions, which is attested to by papyrus P 45 among others, adds three disciples, witnesses to the Transfiguration, to this prayer. Another version, however, states that only Jesus himself was praying at that time (which concurs with the Lucan account of the Transfiguration, Lk 9:28-29). The version of Mk 9:2 which recounts of the prayer of the disciples with Jesus is hard to reconcile with the parallel account in Luke. This fact casts doubt upon the veracity of the generally-accepted view, which holds that both versions of Mk 9:2 are in accord with the text of the Gospel of Luke. This article looks at how the process of harmonization itself may have led to the removal of words from Mark's account that describe the prayer of the disciples.

Długie, bogate w różnorodne wydarzenia życie ks. Jan Ziei (1897–1991) miało kilka wymiarów: modlitewny, duszpasterski, kaznodziejski oraz społeczny. Było ono całkowicie podporządkowane prawdom Ewangelii i tylko w niej ks. Zieja szukał wskazówek i natchnienia. Za swego mistrza uznał św. Franciszka z Asyżu. Ten skromny człowiek nigdy nie pełnił żadnych wysokich funkcji w kościele, krótko był proboszczem, ale wywarł ogromny wpływ na kształtowanie się postaw ludzi Kościoła i polskiej inteligencji. Za podstawę życia chrześcijańskiego uważał parafię zorganizowaną na wzór życia apostolskiego.
Life of Priest John Zieja (1897–1991), long and rich in a variety of events, had several dimensions: prayer, pastoral, homiletic, and social. It was completely subordinated to the truths of the Gospel and only in the Gospel he sought guidance and inspiration. Priest John Zieja regarded St. Francis of Assisi as his master. This modest man never held any high end features in the church; he was briefly a vicar but had a huge impact on the attitudes of the people of the Church and the Polish intelligentsia. For the basis of Christian life he considered a parish which is organized in the model of apostolic life.

Opis:
The two parts of the article analyse the possibilities of a functional interpretation, in terms of the theme-rheme devision, of ancient texts. The author discusses examples from Classical Greek and Latin as well as New Testament Greek, especially their word order, grammatical and lexical features. On this basis he proposes an analytical approach to the description of the linguistic values connected on some degree with the communicative structure of these examples. The contextual procedures of indicating markers of thematic or rhematic elements of the sentences in question should be compared with conclusions drawing on the grammatical and semantic observations on the sentence constituents. The determination of theme and rheme exponents must be made - depending on the language - by verifying the means of coding information structure, relevant to the given language, text type, and time of its composition. A complete description of these means should be proceeded by detailed investigation of, for example, in the case of Ancient Greek: standard and contrastive word order, initial positions of utterances (including semantic descriptions of items involved in these positions), functions of the particles, conjunctions, articles, adverbs, personal pronouns, anaphors et al., syntactic and semantic roles of the constituents, etc. The second part of this article considers information status and value of Greek prolepsis. The author distinguishes morphological, syntactic and lexical prolepsis. The las two types are discussed using examples from Medea by Eurypides and the Gospel of St. John. The first example represents syntactic prolepsis, the second one - lexical. Neither the pronoun ἡμᾶς 'we' from Medea, nor the noun φοινίκων 'palm branches' from St. John's Gospel are thematic as claimed by some researches. Both syntactic and lexical prolepsis are components of a different level of utterances than the material one. The author postulates to consider them as rhematic rather than thematic. Prolepsis functions like quotation which comments on the whole utterance.
