    Opis:
    This article deals with the design of new generation of airports terminals using the concept of smart interactive terminal and presents its main functional zones and technologies. In addition, adoption of technology as symbolic expressive tool in the architecture of airports terminals. Problem of the research is lack of approach and practice of smart interactive terminals functional planning and organization, the previous researches about this type of buildings are dealing with the influence of technology on one functional zone inside the terminal, not taking all functional zones inside it. The aims of research are presenting the influence of technology on all functional zones inside the smart interactive terminal and understanding the connection between them, this study will look also at the transformation of airport terminal interior design in relation to technology and automatic passengers processing systems. additionally, introducing the functional planning of smart interactive terminals buildings and its architectural design features. The results of developing a smart integrated terminal are presented. A comparative functional analysis was done of the proposed terminals as well as its design and technology.

    W artykule przedstawiono fazy rozwoju portu lotniczego w Krakowie-Balicach na podstawie wybranych dokumentów planistycznych oraz kolejnych etapów budowy terminali pasażerskich. Ponad 50-letnia historia Kraków Airport pokazuje dynamikę powstawania specyficznych form zabudowy generowanych przez współczesne lotniska, a także potencjał, jaki posiadają w zakresie kształtowania zespołów architektoniczno-urbanistycznych. Pozwala to sformułować pytania badawcze: w jakim kierunku i przy pomocy jakich narzędzi sterować rozwojem lotniska oraz strefy okołolotniskowej, aby właściwie wykorzystać wyraźnie widoczną i rosnącą miastotwórczą rolę Kraków Airport?
    The article presents the development phases of the Krakow-Balice airport based on selected planning documents and subsequent stages of construction of passenger terminals. Over 50-year history of Kraków Airport shows the dynamics of the creation of specific forms of buildings generated by modern airports as well as the potential they have in shaping architectural and urban complexes. This allows to formulate research questions: in what direction and with what tools to control the development of the airport and the airport zone in order to properly use the clearly visible and growing city-forming role of Kraków Airport.

    This article involves with airport terminal building structure systems and its influence on the architectural form of the building. Airport terminal’s architecture reflects the identity and the human values of the country and nation. The importance of the research can be formed in the necessity of integration of terminal buildings architectural formation and its structural systems to deliver the building as a symbolic expressive icon. The problem of the research is the lack of researches and studies about the structural systems role in achieving the expressional symbolic function as an architectural goal of terminal buildings. The aim of the research is unveiling the role of structural systems in introducing the expressional function of these buildings and its architecture, as a result, this function will show the development, special identity of country architecture and play a deep impact factor in the architecture of terminal building.

    Celem artykułu jest zbadanie warunków, które sprzyjają integracji sztuki i techniki w architekturze. Przykładem, na którym przeprowadzono badania, jest niskobudżetowy terminal pasażerski T3 na lotnisku Narita w Tokio. Chociaż nie należy on do dzieł ikonicznych, dobrze ilustruje zagadnienie relacji pomiędzy wymaganiami techniczno-ekonomicznymi a japońską estetyką minimalistycznego designu. Szczególna zdolność do łączenia mocno osadzonej w tradycji sztuki współczesnej z naukowo-techniczną innowacyjnością jest cechą wyróżniającą kulturę japońską. Konserwatywne wartości, nadal określające społeczeństwo tego kraju, nie są przeszkodą w przyswajaniu i rozwijaniu nowych nurtów obecnych w zglobalizowanym świecie idei. O sile powstającej w ten sposób lokalnej, a zarazem uniwersalnej kultury japońskiej, świadczy jej duży i długotrwały wpływ na kraje kultury euroatlantyckiej.
    The aim of the article is to study the conditions that favor the integration of art and technology in architecture. An example on which the research was conducted is the low-cost passenger terminal T3 at Narita Airport in Tokyo. Although it is not an iconic piece, it illustrates well the issue of the relationship between technical and economic requirements and Japanese aesthetics of minimalist design. The special ability to combine strongly rooted in the tradition of modern art with scientific and technical innovation is a feature that distinguishes Japanese culture. Conservative values, which still define the society of this country, are not an obstacle in the absorption and development of new trends present in the globalized world of ideas. The strength of the local and universal Japanese culture that emerges in this way is evidenced by its large and long-lasting influence on the countries of Euro-Atlantic culture.
