Neo tec tonic struc tures of the Up per Sile sia that origi nated dur ing the last 5 Ma (Plio cene and Qua ter nary) over lap Mio cene gra bens and horsts of the Car pa thian Fore deep. They had been re ac ti vated in Plio cene as an ef fect of the young Al pine up lift of the Car pa thian Fore deep. It is pos tu lated that ice- sheet de rived com pac tion of a thick Mio cene de pos its was the most sig nifi cant agent of the de vel op ment of neo tec tonic de pres sions. Gla cioi so stasy of mo bile bed - rock struc tures was pre suma bly also an im por tant com po nent of ver ti cal move ments. The am pli tude of neo tec tonic move ments is es ti mated to 40–100 m, bas ing on DEM map analy sis, analy sis of sub- Quaternary struc tural maps, and the Pleis to cene cover thick ness. The present- day tec tonic phe nom ena are gen er ated by mining- induced seis mic ity. These are con nected with stress re laxa tion in the deep bed rock thrust zones of the Up per Sile sian Coal Ba sin.

Opis:
This paper presents structural data and regional correlations based on drill cores from 8 boreholes (B2-1/80, B3-1/81, B4-1/81, B6-1/82, B6-2/85, B7-1/91, B16-1/85 and B21-1/95) penetrating Precambrian crystalline rocks in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea. The crystalline rocks from the ftom these boreholes were compared to cores from several wells in Eastern Pomerania, and the Kashubian and Warmia regions and above all with the Mesoproterozoic granitoids and metamorphic rocks of Bornholm and Southern Sweden. The pre-existing basement map of the Southern Baltic, showing Palaeoproterozoic or even Archaean granitoid massifs and narrow north-south fold belts is questioned. Instead, in the present interpretation, the studied area of the Polish part of the Southern Baltic Sea is underlain by a fragment of the Mesoproterozoic (ca. 1.47–1.43 Ga) Danopolonian („Hallandian”) orogeny, comprising mainly regional-scale ductile shear zones, which, striking probably in W–E to WNW–ESE directions, are characterized by the predominance of a thrust to transpressional strain regime with tectonic transport top-to-the S or SSW. The structural kinematic and lithological interpretations of these shear zones are based on comparison with the other parts of the East European Craton that are exposed in Bornholm and the Blekinge and Skne regions in Southern Sweden.

Opis:
Deposits of the Röt Formation (Lower–Middle Triassic) in the eastern part of the North-Sudetic Synclinorium (Bolesławiec Syncline), SW Poland, include numerous synsedimentary deformation structures. Six boreholes with a total core length of ~434 m enabled macroscopic analysis and description of these deformation structures, supplemented by borehole log interpretation, calcimetric analysis, and interpretation of 2D surface seismics. An interval up to ~42 m-thick at the base of the Röt Formation showed both brittle and soft-sediment deformation structures. Their abundance and intensity decrease towards the top of the Röt Formation, and they completely disappear in the Muschelkalk (Middle Triassic). Both the number of boreholes and their locations indicate the presence of such structures across the entire study area. The occurrence of deformation structures in each borehole analysed and their large lateral range suggest that the uppermost part of the Lower Triassic and lowermost part of the Middle Triassic in the study area were influenced by seismic activity. As a result, tectonic reorganization of the study area is inferred for the latest Early/earliest Middle Triassic.

Opis:
We expected that our paper on the crevasse-splay microdelta (Chomiak et al., 2019) would arouse the interest of other researchers for at least two reasons. First, this is the first such palaeoform discovered and described within the Mid-Miocene lignite seam in Poland. Second, the microdelta siliciclastic deposits are strongly deformed both ductile and brittle. Therefore, we would like to thank Tom van Loon for his effort to comment on our article, including his words of appreciation, and above all, for pointing out some of the terminological and interpretative shortcomings. Our reply will be in line with the issues discussed in his comment.

Opis:
Interpretation of seismic data from the Pomeranian segment of the Mid-Polish Trough (MPT) shows that this part of the MPT evolved in Mesozoic times as a decoupled sedimentary basin. Regional-scale decoupling was caused by the thick Zechstein salt layer. Detailed tectonic and seismostratigraphic analysis of seismic data from the vicinity of the Oświno IG 1 well allowed for significant reinterpretation of the Oświno structure, which was previously interpreted as partly pierced salt diapir. This structure developed in Triassic to Jurassic times as a listric normal fault zone detached above the salt layer, resulting from activity of a master fault present within the pre-Zechstein basement. Two pulses of increased extension could be inferred for Oświno fault zone: Late Triassic and Mid-Late Jurassic. The Oświno fault zone was reactivated in the Late Cretaceous due to the compression responsible for inversion of the MPT. Inversion-related uplift of the axial part of the MPT created a morphological gradient and the increased pressure of uplifted overburden rocks directed towards its flanks that also contributed to reactivation of the Oświno fault zone. This fault zone, together with the Drawno-Człopa salt diapiric structure and graben system of the Fore-Sudetic Monocline, have developed due to decoupled evolution of the Mid-Polish Trough.
