    This paper explores the multifaceted concept of social development within economically advanced countries, delving into the implicit assumption of technological advancement as a cornerstone for well-functioning economies. While digital technologies shape broad socio-economic processes, a counterfactual perspective emerges when examining social development through the lens of (nature-based) social welfare. The analysis encompasses the coexistence of advanced technologies with disparities in living standards, resource appropriation mechanisms impacting both populations and environments, and the underexplored negative consequences of techno-economic development. The article addresses the visible and invisible impacts of information technologies, emphasising issues of labour exploitation, resource extraction practices, and the environmental costs of digital production. Critically assessing optimistic scenarios, the paper suggests the need to broaden discussions beyond the positive aspects of technology, considering the challenges for sustainable welfare posed by exploitative labour, resource extraction, and inequitable benefits. The study advocates for an inclusive approach to (nature-based) social welfare, encompassing marginalised issues and proposing concepts such as degrowth as potential solutions to the rapid development of information technologies and their societal implications.

    The purpose of the paper is to investigate the factors impacting project success among personnel based on the example of the Yemeni oil and gas industry. The data was analyzed by hypothesis testing, Smart-PLS tool, SPSS and several statistical methods such as the Structural modelling, regression weights and T statistics and regression technique, utilized to comprehend the variables' dimensionality. The results showed that influential factors i.e. personnel (P), project schedule/plan (PSP), troubleshooting (TS) and technical tasks (TT) as well as the technological advancement (TA) have a statistically significant relationship with project success. It suggests that increasing the success rate of projects may be bilaterally beneficial to the project managers. Limitations and suggestions for future research were also mentioned.
    Celem artykułu jest zbadanie czynników wpływających na sukces projektu wśród personelu na przykładzie jemeńskiego przemysłu naftowo-gazowego. Dane zostały przeanalizowane za pomocą testowania hipotez, narzędzia Smart-PLS, SPSS i kilku metod statystycznych, takich jak modelowanie strukturalne, wagi regresji oraz statystyki T i techniki regresji, wykorzystywane do zrozumienia wymiarowości zmiennych. Wyniki pokazały, że czynniki wpływające, tj. personel (P), harmonogram/plan projektu (PSP), rozwiązywanie problemów (TS) i zadania techniczne (TT) oraz zaawansowanie technologiczne (TA) mają statystycznie istotny związek z sukcesem projektu. Sugeruje to, że zwiększenie wskaźnika sukcesu projektów może być obustronnie korzystne dla kierowników projektów. Wspomniano również o ograniczeniach i sugestiach dotyczących przyszłych badań.

    Zastosowano jednokierunkowe, dwuwarstwowe sztuczne sieci neuronowe (SSN) do oceny nowoczesności ciągników rolniczych. Opracowano zespół sieci neuronowych pozwalających na dokonanie oceny poszczególnych zespołów ciągnika oraz oceny ogólnej. Oceniano oddzielnie silnik, skrzynię biegów, hydraulikę, komfort, a następnie na tej podstawie, uwzględniając masę i moc ciągnika, dokonywano oceny ogólnej. Jako przykłady wykorzystywane do opracowania modeli SSN (uczenie i testowanie) użyto testów 31 ciągników czołowych producentów. Nowoczesność ciągników oceniał niezależny zespół ekspertów. Działanie opracowanych SSN zostało pozytywnie zweryfikowane na przykładzie ciągników Ursus.
    One-directional, two-layer artificial neural networks were applied to evaluating the technological modernity of agricultural tractors. A set of neural networks was de-veloped which enabled evaluating of particular tractors assemblies in details as well as a general evaluation of the whole machine. The engine, gear box, hydraulic system, ergonomic features were assessed separately, next on such a basis and considering the tractor weight and power, general evaluation was completed. Tests of 31 brand-named tractors were used as the examples to developing the ANN models (teaching and testing). The tractors’ technological progression was evaluated by a team if independent experts. Functioning of developed ANN’s has been positively verified on an example of the Ursus tractors.

    The overall contribution of the railway sector in the American economy is substantial. Since 2000, the volume of rail freight transport services in the United States has remained on a balanced and invariably high level, even though the total length of the railway network has declined. Over the recent years, owing to the deployment of advanced software and state-of-the-art technologies, rail freight transport has been performing more effectively than ever. This article addresses a study of the rate of GDP changes compared with measures reflecting the transport services performed in the years 1995-2015. This study comprised the transport performance achieved by means of railways (in billion tkm) against other transport sectors within 2000-2016 and addresses the volume of freight transport services performed in the American transport network. The authors discussed the mechanism functioning of rail freight transport, which is becoming an increasingly attractive means of transport, with reference to the intermodal freight transport, including the double-stack system. They have analysed the share of intermodal transport in the structure of domestic and non-domestic freight transport services in 2017. Furthermore, the latest observed trends in the American railway network in the sphere of the use and implementation of the state-of-the-art technologies supporting railway traffic management was brought to light with regard to the improvement of safety and assisting the relevant authorities

    Znaczenie przetwórstwa przemysłowego w gospodarce zależy obecnie od jego międzynarodowej konkurencyjności i aktywności innowacyjnej, która umożliwia unowocześnienie struktury rzeczowej produkcji i poprawę pozycji w globalnych łańcuchach wartości. Konieczność intensyfikacji działań w kierunku poprawy poziomu zaawansowania technicznego polskiego przetwórstwa przemysłowego to zagadnienie regularnie pojawiające się w literaturze i praktyce gospodarczej. Potrzeba wzrostu zdolności polskiego przemysłu do sprostania globalnej konkurencji została także podkreślona w przyjętej przez Radę Ministrów w 2017 r. Strategii na rzecz Odpowiedzialnego Rozwoju, w której postulat reindustrializacji stanowi jeden z celów szczegółowych. Mając na uwadze te uwarunkowania oraz zróżnicowanie regionalne potencjału przemysłowego w Polsce, celem artykułu jest analiza rozmieszczenia przetwórstwa średnio i wysoko zaawansowanego technicznie w polskiej gospodarce. W opracowaniu wykorzystano metodę krytycznej analizy literatury oraz badania statystyczne. W oparciu o kwerendę literatury przedstawiono ideę terytorializacji rozwoju i rolę przetwórstwa przemysłowego we współczesnej gospodarce. W odniesieniu do diagnozy przestrzennego rozmieszczenia produkcji przemysłowej w Polsce, posłużono się analizą wartości dodanej brutto w układzie województw. Ostatnia część opracowania koncentruje się na wynikach badania empirycznego, które przeprowadzono dla wybranych działów przetwórstwa przemysłowego w zakresie zmian liczby podmiotów i poziomu zatrudnienia. Otrzymane wyniki wskazują na wzrost liczby podmiotów i stosunkowo stały poziom zatrudnienia działów zaawansowanych technicznie. Iloraz lokalizacji podkreśla koncentrację produkcji sprzedanej wysoko i średnio-wysoko zaawansowanej technicznie w województwie dolnośląskim, śląskim i podkarpackim.
    The importance of manufacturing in the economy nowadays depends on its international competitiveness and innovative activity, which allows the modernization of the material structure of production and improvement of the position in global value chains. The necessity to intensify efforts to improve the technological advancement of Polish manufacturing is an issue that regularly appears in the literature and business practice. The need to increase the capacity of Polish manufacturing to cope with global competition was also emphasized in the Strategia na rzecz Odpowiedzialnego Rozwoju (Strategy for Responsible Development) adopted by the Council of Ministers in 2017, in which the postulate of reindustrialization is one of the objectives. Bearing these conditions in mind, and the fact of regional diversity of the industrial potential in Poland, the aim of the article is to analyse the distribution of medium and high-tech manufacturing in the Polish economy. The study uses the method of critical literature analysis and statistical research. Based on a literature query, the idea of the territorialization of development and the role of manufacturing in the modern economy is presented. Regarding the diagnosis of the spatial distribution of manufacturing in Poland, the analysis of gross value added in the voivodeships system of division was used. The last part of the research focuses on the results of an empirical study which was carried out for the selected divisions of manufacturing in terms of changes in the number of entities and the level of employment. The results indicate an increase in the number of entities and a relatively constant employment  level of technologically advanced divisions. The location quotient emphasizes the concentration of sold production of high- and medium-high-tech industries in the Dolnośląskie, Śląskie and Podkarpackie voivodeships.

    Purpose of article: The article constitutes describing high objects of technology relating to new labour organizations. Research of methodology/ research approach: An observant, comparative, intuitional and critical method is applied. Key findings/analysis: The organizational structure of IWT objects is adapted for characteristics of people, accomplished purposes, applied technology, as well as to the high rate of change in surroundings. Patterns of the behavior, which today they are limited by the stiff borders they become gradually replaced by the chances of a free movement in company. Practical implications: Describing the influence of organizational changes on the forming of architectural objects. Social implications: Discussion of organizational changes, structures of management and changes of environment of work.

    The study aims to examine the influence of technological advancement, entrepreneurial orientation and change in consumer attitude on the firm performances of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) based in the UK. By reviewing previous literature, it has been noted that all of these variables are linked with firm performance. However, it is important to know whether the relationships hold in the context of UK-based SMEs. Thus, this research contributes to the existing scholarship by statistically addressing the case of SMEs operating in the UK while focusing on technology, entrepreneurship and consumer attitudes. The study has adopted a quantitative methodology with a descriptive and a correlation design and a sample size of 145 employees belonging to different industries. It applies frequency analysis, correlation and regression analysis to analyse the results. The study found that there is a significant positive effect of technology advancements, entrepreneurial orientation and consumer attitudes on firm performance at 0.05 level. The results also showed that SMEs in the UK need to focus on the three factors to grow and improve their competitiveness.
    Badanie ma na celu zbadanie wpływu postępu technologicznego, orientacji przedsiębiorczej i zmiany nastawienia konsumentów na wyniki firm małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw (MŚP) z siedzibą w Wielkiej Brytanii. Przeglądając poprzednią literaturę, zauważono, że wszystkie te zmienne są powiązane z wynikami firm. Jednak ważne jest, aby wiedzieć, czy relacje te utrzymują się w kontekście brytyjskich MŚP. W ten sposób badanie to wnosi wkład do istniejącego stypendium poprzez statystyczne odniesienie się do przypadku MŚP działających w Wielkiej Brytanii, koncentrując się na technologii, przedsiębiorczości i postawach konsumenckich. W badaniu przyjęto metodologię ilościową z projektem opisowym i korelacyjnym oraz próbą liczącą 145 pracowników z różnych branż. Wykorzystuje analizę częstotliwości, analizę korelacji i analizę regresji do analizy wyników. Badanie wykazało, że na poziomie 0,05 istnieje istotny pozytywny wpływ postępu technologicznego, orientacji na przedsiębiorczość i postaw konsumenckich na wyniki firm. Wyniki pokazały również, że MŚP w Wielkiej Brytanii muszą skupić się na trzech czynnikach, aby się rozwijać i poprawiać swoją konkurencyjność.

    The idea of lifelong learning has appeared in 1920’s, situating on the background of the phenomena of adult education, which, since it emergence, have been a long way – as shall be defined – from the socialization of the masses to the empowerment of individuals, and the prospect of such changes is included into a peculiar continuum – between industrialization and urbanization, and the knowledge society. Nowadays the problem of lifelong learning goes far beyond the traditionally perceived adult education. Inscribing itself into the global educational discourse becomes its essential issue – it refers to the questions of educational possibilities and opportunities in the different socio-cultural contexts. It dominates the discussions on adult education, vocational training and higher education, providing a theoretical framework for the development of relevant policy and action strategies, but in addition it plays a crucial role in economic debates on labour market, quality, capacity, sustainable development, learning in organizations and – importantly – it also appears in non-education-related debates including such issues as: social exclusion, unemployment, environmental protection, active citizenship and health. The phenomenon of lifelong learning allows to respond to such conceptual categories as flexibility and uncertainty. As a result of technological advances, competition creates the need for flexibility which in case of learners is, in the one hand, recognised as emancipation, and in the other, as a threat to individuals enable to meet the new requirements associated with individual responsibility for the course of the educational path. Alongside opinions presenting anti-institutional interpretation of lifelong learning, the „supply” of an institutional offer of adult education is raised. The conclusions of the presented analyses results in showing lifelong learning as a phenomenon, which is not unambiguously evaluated, since it may by understood as a the purpose, a process, an effect, a form of self-realization, a socio-cultural constraint, and at least as an important field of educational reality in the word of new challenges.
