    Opis:
    After the outbreak of the Great War, a discussion on the role of the school system in the reconstruction of the independent Polish state started in the Warsaw-based Stowarzyszenie Techników Polskich (Association of Polish Technicians). The research on the contents of Przegląd Techniczny (Technical Review), which was a magazine published by that organization, shows that the editors saw the relationship between professional education and industrial development of the state, free from restrictions imposed by the invaders, and, as a result, published notes and articles to convince the society about the need to educate teenagers in occupational schools. Thus, they informed the readers on the operation of schools of that type and various initiatives and forms of technical education and improvement, most of all in Warsaw. They also presented their own projects in that area. Supporting the organization of the technical education system, they proposed three-year lower occupational schools for professional education of workmen, secondary schools educating “intelligent technicians adapted to the needs of the industry”, and higher technical schools conferring a title of the engineer on their graduates.

    Opis:
    The publication presents selected stages of the development of electrotechnics at its crucial period in artists` mind`s eye. The special attention was paid to various symbols with which they associated particular outstanding achievements of electrical engineering. Unfortunately, there are few treatises only dedicated to this subject, however it deserves much more attention definitely. Eminent artists, coming mainly from the European countries, perceived the electrotechnics as the Goddess of Electricity. Their some works in the form of illustrations which were placed on many posters, in books and exhibition folders as well have been mentioned and briefly described in this publication. It should be emphasized that at the end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century a quite new allegory appeared – it`s name was "Electricity". This image, which was born at the moment of the rapid development of electrotechnics, symbolized the triumph of the rise of a new science. The images of "Electricity" were created by well-known artists, whose names have always entered the history of the world culture. They reflect the spirit of the great age of inventions and it is a key, one of many, to comprehend those times. However, more later the romanticism of the first achievements was changed by a pragmatic approach. Some of the beautiful traditions of old electrotechnics began to fall into oblivion with the leaving of a generation of "pioneers of electricity". The allegorical representation of "Electricity" was becoming a rarer phenomenon. However, you do not have to be a prophet to understand that electricity will continue its triumphal march. Now the moral principles come into prominence. Dependence on who and for what purpose will serve the "Goddess of Electricity", it will be: good, wise and generous Goddess, or terrible and carrying destruction one. As a matter of fact, it is the main central idea of this article.
    W publikacji przedstawiono wybrane etapy rozwoju elektrotechniki w przełomowym jej okresie widziane oczami artystów. Zwrócono uwagę na różne symbole, z którymi kojarzyli oni poszczególne, wybitne osiągnięcia elektrotechniki. Niestety, mało jest opracowań poświęconych tej tematyce, a przecież zasługują one na dużo większą uwagę. Wybitni artyści, głównie europejscy, postrzegali elektrotechnikę jako boginię elektryczności. Ich niektóre dzieła w formie ilustracji zamieszczane na plakatach, w książkach i folderach wystawowych zostały przytoczone i krótko omówione. Należy podkreślić, że pod koniec XIX i na początku XX wieku pojawiła się zupełnie nowa alegoria – „Elektryczność“. Wizerunek ten, który narodził się w momencie gwałtownego rozwoju elektrotechniki, symbolizował triumf nowej nauki. Wizerunki „Elektryczności“ tworzyli znani artyści, których nazwiska na zawsze weszły do historii światowej kultury. Oddają one ducha wielkiej epoki wynalazków i jest to klucz, jeden z wielu, do zrozumienia tamtych czasów. Później romantyzm pierwszych osiągnięć został zamieniony przez pragmatyczne podejście. Wraz z odejściem pokolenia „pionierów elektryczności” niektóre piękne tradycje dawnej elektrotechniki zaczęły odchodzić w zapomnienie. Alegoryczne przedstawienie „Elektryczności” stawało się coraz rzadszym zjawiskiem. Jednak nie trzeba być prorokiem, aby zrozumieć, że elektryczność będzie kontynuowała swój triumfalny pochód. W tym miejscu na pierwszy plan wysuwają się kategorie moralne. W zależności od tego, kto i w jakim celu będzie służył „Bogini Elektryczności”, taką ona będzie: dobrą, mądrą i szczodrą, albo straszną i niosącą z sobą zniszczenia, co jest głównym przesłaniem niniejszego artykułu.
