    The paper investigates the formal characteristics of drawings made by congenitally blind children and teenagers as well as the possibility and level of accuracy in the recognition of these drawings by sighted individuals. The study involved children and students aged seven to fifteen years. The formal features predominant in the drawings analyzed were typical for the failed realism stage. As an additional goal of the study, we investigated the usefulness of the transfograph as an educational resource supporting the introduction of tactile graphics to congenitally blind persons. Drawings made by blind subjects before and after training with a transfograph revealed a similar level of difficulty with their identification. However, following a prompt about the subject of each drawing, those made after the training were described by judges as more easily identifiable. In addition, the drawings made after training showed fewer features of failed realism.

    Efficient movement of blind people at the railway station is associated with knowledge of the facility, location of important architectural elements as well as knowledge about hazards and dangerous places. The source of information in this field are tactile graphics being a plan of the facility. To fulfil their role, the tactile graphics must be made according to the same principles and allocated at appropriate and accessible places of the station. The article presents an analysis of this topic based on the conducted studies and evaluations. Final conclusions on the tactile guide system were clarified and they are addressed mainly to the station infrastructure managers and designers.
    Sprawne poruszanie się osób niewidomych po dworcu kolejowym jest związane ze znajomością obiektu, położeniem jego ważnych elementów architektonicznych, jak również wiedzą o istniejących zagrożeniach i niebezpiecznych miejscach. Źródłem informacji z tego zakresu są tyflografiki, będące planami obiektu. Aby spełniały swoją rolę, muszą być wykonane według jednakowych zasad i prezentowane w odpowiednich, dostępnych miejscach dworca. W artykule zamieszczono rozważania na ten temat na podstawie przeprowadzonych analiz i oceny oraz sprecyzowano wnioski adresowane głównie do zarządców infrastruktury dworcowej i projektantów.

    The subject of this paper is the specificity of the information space of persons with visual disabilities as a component of their information culture, according to the concept proposed by M. Kisilowska. Based on systematic analysis of documents and long years of participative observations, the deliberations focus on legal solutions governing the access of persons with visual disabilities to information, the navigation and cognition spheres of a blind information user and the specificity of providing information, in particular the Braille system, tactile graphics, audio description, alternative materials and augmentative technologies. The deliberations highlight obstacles in accessing information by persons with visual disabilities and suggest both practical solutions and research proposals for a complex analysis of the information culture of persons with visual disabilities in Poland.

    Opis:
    The objective of this article is to share the experience of teaching statistics to a blind student at Institute of Psychology, The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. It discusses three conditions that have to be met in order to be successful. These conditions are: an individual approach toward the student, adaptation of didactic materials and availability of special software which enables the blind student to access the statistical package called SPSS. Solutions developed by us can be used both in teaching students of psychology and students of other faculties who are blind. The limitation in the generalization of applications is related to the fact that that it was a case study and that in the population of blind people there may be individual differences in mathematical abilities and logical thinking.
    Celem artykułu jest podzielenie się doświadczeniami z nauczania statystyk niewidomej studentki Instytutu Psychologii Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego Jana Pawła II. Omówiono trzy warunki, które należy spełnić, aby odnieść sukces dydaktyczny. Warunki te to: indywidualne nauczanie ucznia, adaptacja materiałów dydaktycznych i dostępność specjalnego oprogramowania, które umożliwia studentowi, który nie widzi, dostęp do pakietu statystycznego o nazwie SPSS. Wypracowane przez nas rozwiązania mogą być wykorzystane zarówno w nauczaniu studentów psychologii, jak i studentów innych kierunków, którzy mają niepełnosprawność wzroku. Ograniczenie w uogólnianiu wniosków wiąże się z faktem, że było to studium przypadku i że w populacji osób niewidomych mogą występować indywidualne różnice w zdolnościach matematycznych i logicznego myślenia.

    Sight is the most important sense of a human. For the most of the society, the perception performed by the sight organ is perceived as something very natural. Reflection on life without the sight is not common, which slows down the technological development aiming at reducing the social exclusion of persons with sight disabilities. The dynamical development of advanced technologies does not provide solutions for all the cases of illness. However, many tools exist which allow people with visual disabilities to interact with the outside world. In most cases these tools allow only for the exchange of very basic information. We present some problems associated with the visualization of images for the blind, with the attention concentrated upon business graphics. We also give some propositions to enhance the level of non-visual perception of images with the use of specialized tactile equipment.
