    Opis:
    The article is devoted to a comparison of the American and European systems of data protection and the transfer of personal data from the European Union to the United States of America. The author outlines the problems and then analyzes the regulations in order to identify differences between the two systems. Then, based on the previous considerations, she assesses the effectiveness of the Safe Harbour Program, which was set up to serve as a tool to facilitate the transfer of personal data. The article ends by providing information about the directions of policy changes and work on the new EU Regulation on the protection of personal data.

    W Szwecji budownictwo energooszczędne podobnie jak i w innych krajach jest tematem dnia. Chodzi tu nie tylko o nowe domy, ale również o sposoby ograniczenia zużycia energii do ogrzewania w istniejących starych budynkach. Aktualnie zaczęto wprowadzać zróżnicowane pojęcia budynków energooszczędnych stosując różne określenia.
    In Sweden, as in other countries, energy-efficient construction is currently a much-discussed topic. It concerns not only new homes, but also methods of reducing the consumption of energy for heating in existing buildings. At the present time differentiated concepts of energy-efficient buildings have begun to be introduced, with the use of various definitions.

    Celem artykułu jest przeprowadzenie porównania wybranych systemów zarządzania konfiguracją w systemie Linux.Systemy te musiały spełnić warunek integracji z systemem Linux.Zostały wybrane dwa z pośród najpopularniejszych systemówjakimi są Puppet oraz Ansible. Porównanie zostało oparte na prostej konfiguracji systemu z wykorzystaniem tych dwóch systemów w kilku aspektach: instalacji, zarządzania plikami i folderami, zarządzania pakietami, zarządzania użytkownikami, konfiguracji serwera Apache oraz zapory sieciowej. Dzięki takiemu porównaniu można było stwierdzić który system bardziej nadaje się dla początkującego administratora systemów Linux
    The purpose of this article is to compare selected configuration management systems on Linux. These systems had to meet the condition of integration with Linux. The two of the most popular systems were chosen which are Puppet and Ansible. The comparison was based on a simple system configuration using these two systems in several aspects: instal-lation, file and folder management, package management, user management, configuration of the Apache server and Firewall. Through this comparison, it was possible to determine which system is more suitable for a novice Linux sys-tem administrator.

    Opis:
    A dual-channel computer architecture for utilisation in programmable logic controllers is presented. Faults can be detected by novel high-speed comparators with fail-safe operation. The cyclic operating mode of PLCs and a specification-level, graphical programming paradigm based on the interconnection of application-oriented standard software function modules are architecturally supported. Thus, by design, there is no semantic gap between the programming and machine execution levels enabling the safety licensing of application software by an extremely simple, but rigorous method, viz., diverse back translation.

    Opis:
    This paper introduces my concept of cognitive equivalence (cf. Mandelblit, 1997), an attempt to reconcile elements of Nida’s dynamic equivalence with recent innovations in cognitive linguistics and cognitive psychology, and building on the current focus on translators’ mental processes in translation studies (see e.g. Göpferich et al., 2009, Lewandowska-Tomaszczyk, 2010). My approach shares its general impetus with Lewandowska-Tomaszczyk’s concept of re-conceptualization, but is independently derived from findings in cognitive linguistics and simulation theory (see e.g. Langacker, 2008; Feldman, 2006; Barsalou, 1999; Zwaan, 2004). Against this background, I propose a model of translation processing focused on the internal simulation of reader reception and the calibration of these simulations to achieve similarity between ST and TT impact. The concept of cognitive equivalence is exemplarily tested by exploring a conceptual / lexical field (MALE BALDNESS) through the way that English, German and Japanese lexical items in this field are linked to matching visual-conceptual representations by native speaker informants. The visual data gathered via this empirical method can be used to effectively triangulate the linguistic items involved, enabling an extra-linguistic comparison across languages. Results show that there is a reassuring level of inter-informant agreement within languages, but that the conceptual domain for BALDNESS is linguistically structured in systematically different ways across languages. The findings are interpreted as strengthening the call for a cognition-focused, embodied approach to translation.
