Synthetic biology is a scientific area, that link together domains such as: biotechnology, microbiology, system biology, genetic engineering and bioinformatics. The main goal of synthetic biology is to constructing and designing artificial biological systems or re-design of existing biological systems for useful purposes - synthesizing for knowledge and synthesizing for products. The main structure on which synthetic biologists focus is the chromosome. Thanks to the development of modern genome editing techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9, or DNA assembly methods in recent years, there are more and more possibilities of creating synthetic chromosomes. The current achievements give hope for the construction of a fully synthetic organism into the future, as well as open up new possibilities related to the synthesis of new products. The following paper presents actual knowledge about synthetic chromosome including the topic of genome editing method and potential applications of synthetic biology.

Public sector has been appointed to carry out tasks of general interest. These tasks are usually non-profit, which causes that they are financed from public funds. In such circumstances, the important point is that the choice of tasks for execution was made rationally and after carrying out a multifaceted analysis. Measurement issues of efficiency gain particular importance in the management of both municipal finance, as well as the whole of the public sector in connection with the implementation of the new public management concept. The evaluation of the financial management is difficult. It requires taking into account many different variables. The selected set of characteristics that describe the financial economy, should, as far as possible, in a full and comprehensive way study the phenomenon. The purpose of the study is to examine whether the assessment of the effectiveness of the financial activities of local government can be used as a synthetic indicator, whose structure depends on the adopted methodological assumptions. The selection of the final variables to the structure of the synthetic indicator includes variables describing the financial economy. The final set of diagnostic variables was created taking into account the established substantive, formal and statistical criteria. The characteristics of spatial units is based on the arithmetic mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, the asymmetry factor and the correlation coefficient. Taking into account formal conditions, complete and available measurable variables were selected Linear ordering methods allow to determine the hierarchy of objects or arranging them from the object being the highest in this hierarchy to the object being the lowest. Linear ordering enables multi-dimensional analysis of the phenomenon. Synthetic indicator gauge takes values in the range [0; 1], the higher the value of this index the better situations of the object. Rural communes of Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship are the subject of the research. Synthetic indicator structure consisted of the following variables: value of own income, value of the revenue from tax return, value of the revenue from CIT, value of tax revenues, value of funds obtained from external sources, value of current expenditure, value of property, value of expenditure on welfare spending and value of expenditure on public administration. Communities of Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship continued to show a large variety in terms of the level of financial health. On the one hand, it was possible to distinguish a group of communities with high level of financial health, on the other hand, the communities with a very low rate.

Last time technical developed countries find alternative gas sources for own energy duty. This source may save natural gas resources in these countries or make sure other countries having an energy deficit. One from named resources is synthetic gas which may be manufactured from a natural coal. Several countries tried to receive this gas from coal seams by way underground gasification process. But results aren't good before today. A reason is deficiency information about thermal and chemical regularities which control the process underground coal gasification. This article allow reader deeper to understand thermal process in a fire health of the coal seam channel and to learn mathematical description of a temperature distribution into the seam on modern procedure.

Relacje pomiędzy charakterystykami podpopulacji i całej populacji są bardzo ważne w badaniach małych obszarów. W pracy tej zaproponowane są procedury testowe, służące do weryfikacji hipotezy o równości stosunku średniej dla małego obszaru do średniej z populacji dla analizowanej zmiennej i zmiennej pomocniczej. Własności jednej z zaproponowanych procedur badane są za pomocą metod symulacyjnych.
The relations between characteristics for subpopulations and for the whole population are very important in small area investigations. In the paper there are proposed testing procedures for verification of hypothesis which says that there is no difference between the ratio of small area mean and population mean for analysed variable and auxiliary variable. The properties of one considered procedure are investigated with the use of simulation methods.

The article discusses W.V.O. Quine's critique of the classical distinction 'analytic vs. synthetic sentences'. The author claims that the debate concerning this distinction is essential for semantic and lexicographic analysis, which nowadays must face certain well known metaphysical problems. She discusses five strategies of argumentation formed against Quine's position, inluding four explicit definitions of analyticity. The author claims that A. Bogusławski's (1998) definition seems to be the most effective one, and the same time closest to Kant's approach. This definition can be adopted in order to verify claims on the analyticity of propositions which include two predicates under discussion.

The main purpose of this paper is to find the most effective method for the normalization of a final set of diagnostic variables for indirect consumption research with the use of synthetic consumption measures. The chosen normalization methods (standardization, unitarization and ratio transformation) were analyzed, both in the classical and the order approaches, with the use of different methods for multidimensional median vector construction (border and Weber median). Implementation of the multidimensional median construction is very important in the case of research objects with atypical characteristics of diagnostic variables (a separate analysis of Warsaw from the Mazowieckie Voivodeship). This kind of research units can cause asymmetry in empirical distribution of diagnostic variables which has a significant impact on the result of the linear order set of research objects. Additionally, implementation of the Weber median allows for considering the interactions in a set of diagnostic variables, which is crucial from the point of view of economic analysis.

In the paper the concept of synthetic aperture used for high resolution/high frame rate ultrasonic imaging is reviewed. The synthetic aperture technique allows building extended “virtual” apertures, synthesized from smaller real aperture resulting in improved lateral resolution along full penetration depth without sacrificing the frame rate. Especially, four methods, synthetic aperture focusing (SAF), multi-element synthetic aperture focusing (M-SAF), synthetic receive aperture (SRA) and synthetic transmit aperture (STA) are addressed. The effective aperture function, describing two-way, far field radiation is a useful tool in beam pattern analysis. Some basic notations, which are used to calculate the effective aperture are introduced in Appendix.

The paper presents the optimization problem for the multi-element synthetic transmit aperture method (MSTA) in ultrasound imaging applications. The optimal choice of the transmit aperture size is made as a trade-off between the lateral resolution, penetration depth and the frame rate. Results of the analysis obtained by a developed optimization algorithm are presented. The maximum penetration depth and lateral resolution at given depths are chosen as optimization criteria. The results of numerical experiments carried out in MATLAB Ž using synthetic aperture data of point reflectors obtained by the FIELD II simulation program are presented. The visualization of experimental synthetic aperture data of a tissue mimicking phantom and in vitro measurements of the beef liver performed using the SonixTOUCH Research system are also shown.

In this paper there is discussed value migration from the perspective of all economic sectors. It was introduced the method for measuring the sectorial value migration and the algorithm for classification with respect to three stages value migration model. The value migration measurement was conducted employing multivariate comparative analyses and in particular linear ordering to construct a synthetic variable of development. On the basis of the proposed measure, the ranking of value migration development and classification of sectors to the particular phases of value migration processes were delivered.

The design of a short range synthetic aperture imaging radar is introduced in this paper. A radar hologram is acquired using a small omnidirectional antenna that is mounted on a rotating platform. After each turn of the platform a high resolution 360° 2D image is reconstructed; a rotating window function optimizes the reconstructed image function to get the best image focus for detecting both weak and strong scatterers. The rotating window function depends on the target direction and is executed for each image point and each target direction. The size of the synthetic aperture – and thus the lateral resolution of the imaging system – is determined by the diameter of the circular antenna trajectory. In contrast to common radar scanner concepts that utilize highly directional and thus bulky antennas, the proposed scanner concept has the advantage of using a small, lightweight omni-directional antenna. The developed radar system is much more compact and the scanning mechanics are significantly simplified. Furthermore, an omni-directional antenna offers very straightforward options for powering the radar on the rotation platform. Measurement results obtained with a 24 GHz FMCW short range radar sensor illustrate the performance of the proposed SAR imaging method.

Synthetic aperture (SA) technique is a novel approach to present day commercial systems and has previously not been used in medical ultrasound imaging. The basic idea of SA is to combine information acquired simultaneously from all directions over a number of emissions and to reconstruct the full image from these data. The paper presents the multi-element STA (MSTA) method for medical ultrasound imaging. The main difference with the STA approach is the use of a few elements in the transmit mode in contrast to a single element aperture. This allows increasing the system frame rate, decreasing the number of emissions, and provides the best compromise between the penetration depth and lateral resolution. Besides, a modified MSTA is proposed with a corresponding RF signal correction in the receive mode, which accounts for the element directivity property. In the experiments a 32-element linear transducer array with 0.48 mm interelement spacing and a burst pulse of 100 ns duration were used. Two elements wide transmission aperture was used to generate an ultrasound wave covering the full image region. The comparison of 2D ultrasound images of a tissue mimicking phantom obtained using the STA and MSTA methods is presented to demonstrate the benefits of the second one.

The capability of a radar imaging system to stay undetected while gathering data is one of the most desired for military reconnaissance systems. This is particularly difficult to achieve for synthetic aperture radar (SAR), that have to emit electromagnetic energy all the time during the operation and to move along a strictly defined route. Therefore the idea of a passive imaging system although encountering many constraints seems to be very interesting. The possibilities of a passive synthetic aperture radar system working with different types of emitters of opportunity are described in the paper. Impact of signal characteristics on image quality and geometry issues are discussed among others. Results of computer simulations of such a system implementing different imaging algorithms as well as the results of the experiment performed with passive SAR system model are presented.

This work presents the research results of the influence of modification deSONOx type catalyst of the sulfur dioxide emissions in the process of the hard coal combustion. The addition of zeolite catalysts modified by transition metal ions: V, Mg, activated by zinc sorbent with or without graphite addition caused the deeper burning of coal grains. The addition of the deSOx catalysts to the coal resulted in lowered sulphur dioxide emission. The addition of unmodified zeolite to coal during combustion reduced sulphur dioxide emission at about 5%. The modification of the support by both V and Mg reduced the amount of sulphur dioxide significantly. The obtained results of SO2 removal from exhaust gases were from 34.5% for Sip/Mg to 68.3% for Sip/V.

Opis:
Multidimensional analysis uses various measures for assessing economic effects. However, no single synthetic measure, regardless how popular, can give a satisfactory solution to the above problem. In general, various approaches of combining measures can lead to stable outcomes. Nevertheless, when combining "weak" classifiers one can obtain inevitably poorer classification. We propose here a new approach to construct doubly synthetic measures. The main goal of this work is to analyse the influence these new synthetic measures on the ranking of multidimensional objects.
