Mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones have entered education and started being used by teachers and learners for studying. This evidence-based case study focuses on the enhancement of a syllabus with BYOD classes and the role it played in boosting motivation and classroom engagement. It shows how to enhance a syllabus for Intermediate students of English and how to implement any syllabus changes, furthermore, it shows the impact of the changes on the staff members and learners. The study was carried out in an Irish, middle- sized language school, concluding that the enhanced syllabus had a positive impact both on the learners and the teachers.

Тhe main goal of our theoretical research was to show how much the syllabus allow development of awareness about the diversities and development of life values in multiethnic and multicultural environments. In that context, we established the goal to analyze the objectives and the content of the syllabus of the most relevant subjects regarding multicultural and intercultural education: Introduction to society and Society for grades I – V. Having in mind that in Macedonia there are different cultures, religions, traditions and languages, it is necessary to develop competencies to show respect for the diversities and to develop the multicultural awareness of the students at the earliest age. On the other hand, globalization, as a characteristic of the modern age, increasingly imposes the need to develop the intercultural awareness and competencies of the students as well. The interethnic (multicultural) as well as intercultural competencies are especially important from several aspects: firstly, as a result of the need to overcome stereotypes and prejudices still present in our society, and secondly, to develop values in children, and especially empathy in students.

The article deals with the problem of professional training of linguists at the UK’s universities. Based on the data accumulated by UCAS it has been calculated that recent trends in university admission campaigns during 2008-2016 prove gradual but stable increase in the number of applicants wishing to pursue career in Linguistics. The characteristic features of the organization of linguists’ professional training have been outlined. It has been indicated that professional training of linguists at the UK’s universities is mainly oriented toward humanities; undergraduate and postgraduate education in Linguistics offers a wide range of qualifications. It has been mentioned that Quality Assurance Agency has developed Subject Benchmark Statement for Linguistics (for bachelor’s degrees with honours), where one can find what can be expected of a graduate in the subject, in terms of what they might know, do and understand at the end of their studies. It has been noted that after graduation future specialists in linguistics are in demand in a wide variety of industries.

This paper presents arguments raised in the current discussion in Poland on the syllabus of reformed law studies. The dispute concerns the proportion between general and theoretical subjects and the recently advocated increased number of subjects teaching practical skills at the cost of lesser academic content.
Artykuł prezentuje argumenty w toczącej się dziś dyskusji nad programem studiów prawniczych. Spierają się zwolennicy utrzymania istniejącej grupy przedmiotów ogólnych i teoretycznych. The topicality of the issue is explained by a discrepancy between the current English for Special Purposes (ESP) curriculum and students’ wishes and demands of the labour market. In order to create an up-to-date ESP curriculum that would suit students, employers and customers’ wishes, the following research methods were used: analysis of theoretical literature and sources, empirical study (students’ interviews, students’ questioning, lecturers’ interviews, employers’ questioning) and qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods. The conducted needs analysis allows creating a modern curriculum based on theory and practice – seting its goal and tasks, choosing the most appropriate syllabi types, selecting teaching methods that correspond to students’ learning styles and satisfying students’ wishes and the requirements of the industry.

IMC has been globally accepted as well as in Indonesia. Not just on practical aspects, but in academic domain since widely taught as a subject of undergraduate program in Indonesia. While literature review shows that conceptualization of IMC from various international publications still marked pros and cons, but a lesser amount of publications involve educators as one of stakeholders. Actually, educators are avant-garde of IMC deployment to the next generation and their authority in defining IMC in the classroom. In order to recognize the development of IMC thought, acceptance, and its variations of meaning, it is important to analysis the IMC syllabus as a manifestation of educator thought. To get widely perspective, these results should be compared and linked with perceptions of educators who teach IMC or other relevant subjects. Therefore, this study aims to determine how educator’ perceptions of IMC concept that has been built over time in various international publications, and how IMC defined in syllabus as a manifestation of educator’ understanding. This study uses mixed method, where the perception of educators measured quantitatively by conducting survey of 51 respondents. Meanwhile, syllabus analyzed qualitatively. Both results are then compared and linked to answer research questions.
Zintegrowana komunikacja marketingowa została przyjęta na całym świecie, również w Indonezji, jest ona przedmiotem nauczanym w programie studiów w Indonezji, nie tylko ze względu na jej aspekty praktyczne. Aby uzyskać szeroki pogląd, wyniki te powinny być porównane i związane ze spostrzeżeniami nauczycieli akademickich, którzy prowadzą zajęcia z IMC lub innych pokrewnych przedmiotów. Dlatego też, niniejsze badanie ma na celu określenie, jak postrzegana jest koncepcja IMC przez dydaktyków. W badaniu wykorzystano metodę mieszaną, gdzie percepcję dydaktyków zmierzono ilościowo prowadząc badanie 51 respondentów. Tymczasem program nauczania poddany został analizie jakościowej. Oba wyniki są następnie porównywane i powiązane w celu udzielenia odpowiedzi na pytania badawcze.

Didactic paths play a very important part in modern education, on the primary school level as well as at universities. Beside other things, they let students compare book knowledge with the real world. Unfortunately, there are only a few geographical didactic paths, as opposed to those in history or science. The new offer for preparing methodological geographical paths begins with an analysis of documents as a curriculum model or a syllabus with chosen items to be taught which can be discussed during outdoor lessons and finally examines the area which fulfils a large number of requirements. It is possible that in this way of preparing methodological geographical paths the boring, monotonous area will give many possibilities to discuss teaching items.

W artykule została przedstawiona koncepcja oraz gotowe rozwiązanie do opracowywania elektronicznych dokumentów programu kształcenia dla polskiego szkolnictwa wyższego. Celem tego przedsięwzięcia jest ułatwienie w sposobie tworzenia odpowiednich dokumentów, aby większość z nich mogła być generowana automatycznie. W artykule zaproponowano aby podstawowy dokument jakim jest karta przedmiotu (syllabus), była zapisywana w formacie rozszerzalnego języka znaczników XML (ang. Extensible Markup Language). Zapis taki pozwala na wyszczególnienie wszystkich pól dokumentu, które w sposób jednoznaczny można identyfikować. Zbiór syllabusów zapisanych w formie języka XML stanowi więc główną bazę danych, na podstawie której tworzy się pozostałe dokumenty. Podstawowym dokumentem generowanym automatycznie jest syllabus w formacie RTF (ang. Rich Text Format), odczytywalnym przez aplikację komputerową „Word”. Pozostałe dokumenty tworzone są przy pomocy aplikacji „Excel” w formie tabelarycznej. Główną zaletą takiego rozwiązania jest łatwość sporządzania wydruków za pomocą ogólnie dostępnych aplikacji oraz możliwość edycji treści nowopowstałych dokumentów.
This article presents the concept and ready-made solution for the development of electronic documents education program for Polish higher education. The aim of this project is to facilitate in the way of creating the relevant documents to most of them could be generated automatically. The article proposes that the basic document which is the card subject (syllabus), was recorded in the format extensible markup language XML. This provision allows to list all the fields of the document, which clearly can be identified. Syllabus collection stored in the form of XML is a central database, based on which forms the remaining documents. The main document which is generated automatically is the syllabus in RTF format, readable by a computer application, "Word." Other documents are creating by using the application "Excel" in tabular form. The main advantage is ease to print using commercially available applications and the ability to edit the contents of the newly created documents.

The outburst of COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 for the first time in the history of 21st century led to a sudden cease in the functioning of the modern world. An initial disbelieve, common fear and the feeling of uncertainty had to pass as decisions had to be made fast and actions taken into place without hesitation. The world of academia suddenly had to face the challenge of reorganising the well-known approaches and teaching methods. This article is an attempt to describe the necessary changes that were introduced in the syllabus and teaching approach for Scandinavian languages at the Institute of Applied Linguistic at the Faculty of Applied Linguistics of the University of Warsaw in the time of pandemic. The positive and negative aspects of the introduced changes are presented with reference to the specifics of “small languages” didactics that is among others working with highly motivated students. The authors present the results of the survey research that aimed at checking and levelling students’ motivation and involvement while working online; evaluating the Swedish courses in the time of pandemic with reference to the introduced changes.
Wybuch pandemii koronawirusa COVID-19 w marcu 2020 po raz pierwszy w XXI wieku doprowadził do nagłego zatrzymania funkcjonowania współczesnego świata - początkowe niedowierzanie, powszechny strach i niepewność musiały ustąpić pod presją konieczności szybkiego podejmowania decyzji i konkretnych działań. Środowisko akademickie stanęło przed wyzwaniem reorganizacji wypracowanych przez lata metod i technik nauczania. Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie zmian, jakie trzeba było wprowadzić w programie nauczania języków skandynawskich w Instytucie Lingwistyki Stosowanej na Wydziale Lingwistyki Stosowanej Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego po wybuchu pandemii. Pozytywne i negatywne aspekty wprowadzonych modyfikacji przedstawione są w odniesieniu do specyfiki dydaktyki nauczania „małych języków”, m.in. podejścia do pracy ze studentami o wysokiej motywacji wewnętrznej. Autorzy prezentują także wyniki badania ankietowego, którego celem były: sprawdzenie poziomu motywacji i zaangażowania studentów w trakcie pracy zdalnej; ocena oferowanych zajęć z języka szwedzkiego i wprowadzonych zmian w procesie dydaktycznym w czasie pandemii, a na koniec przedstawiają wnioski, jakie ich zdaniem wynikają z przeprowadzonego badania dla nauczania języków skandynawskich w przyszłości po zakończeniu pandemii.

U radu problematizujemo prisustvo poeme u nastavnim programima predmeta Srpski jezik u višim razredima osnovnih škola. Nastojimo da ukažemo na činjenicu da se pomenuti žanr sagledava kao metodički izazov koji se lakše prenebegava izostavljanjem iz programa usled brojnih metodičkih i književnoteorijskih problema koji stvara. U radu se, na tragu književnoteorijskih saznanja o poemi, prati njena zastupljenost u sadašnjim i prošlim nastavnim programima, sa ciljem da se pronađu konstruktivna rešenja u njenom nastavnom implementiranju, ali ukaže i na potencijalna ograničenja i metodičke izazove koje ovaj žanr u nastavnoj situaciji stvara.
The main problem dealt with in this essay is the presence of narrative poems in the Serbian language syllabus in the elementary school upper grades. Primarily, we strive to point to the fact that the aforementioned genre is deemed as a methodological challenge and consequently left out of the syllabus due to the numerous problems it creates in methodology and literary theory. In the essay, following the literary theory notions on narrative poems, we aim to establish the degree of its presence in newer as well as in older syllabuses, hoping to achieve constructive solutions for its implementation in the syllabus. Simultaneously, we are trying to specify the potential limitations and methodological challenges this genre may create in any teaching situation.

Compared to colleagues teaching foreign languages for general purposes, who can use ready-made syllabuses or programs, the LSP teacher has to reflect on methodology at the level of course planning. The scope and nature of the proposed course content is tailored to the specific needs of a student. The analysis of these needs is based on interviews and questionnaires. There are many examples of such tools, but none of them are universal or exhaustive, nor can they be. The purpose of this article is to propose a set of parameters to facilitate investigation of the educational context, which could be a starting point for the development of questionnaires tailored to specific education needs.

Jednym z ważnych zadań nauczyciela w edukacji wczesnoszkolnej jest tworzenie środowiska sprzyjającego rozwojowi twórczej aktywności dziecka, która ujawnia się w spontanicznej lub inspirowanej aktywności zabawowej, graficznej, werbalnej, muzycznej oraz ruchowej. Troska o rozwijanie kreatywności, o jej zakorzenienie w praktyce edukacyjnej, wydaje się ważnym zadaniem szkoły i jednym z najpilniejszych wyzwań współczesnego nauczyciela, dlatego w prezentowanej publikacji podjęto próbę analizy tekstów programów przeznaczonych do rozwijania twórczej aktywności dzieci pod kątem celów, zasad, treści i sposobów realizacji. Badaniu poddano trzy publikacje: Program edukacyjny Żywioły. Lekcje twórczości w nauczaniu zintegrowanym Jolanty Bonar i Krzysztofa J. Szmidta; Podróże, skarby, przygoda. Podręcznik i program rozwijania twórczości, samoświadomości oraz dyspozycji autokreacyjnych dzieci klas I–III Janiny Uszyńskiej-Jarmoc, oraz Krok w kierunku kreatywności. Program stymulowania twórczości na etapie edukacji przedszkolnej i wczesnoszkolnej Marioli Jąder. Z analizy programów wynika, że doskonale wpisują się one we współczesny nurt kształcenia zintegrowanego, uwzględniają bowiem zarówno integrację celów, jak i treści, form ekspresji oraz metod wspierania aktywności twórczej dzieci, a także proponują oryginalne zasady pracy z dziećmi.
ABSTRACT One of the important tasks for an early-education teacher is the creation of an environment favouring the development and creative activity of children which is revealed in a spontaneous or inspired activeness of play, graphical, verbal, musical or motion character. The concern related to developing creativity and its embedding in educational practice seems a vital task for a school and one of the most urgent challenges for a contemporary teacher. Therefore, this publication has made an attempt at a content-related analysis of texts of curricula designed to develop children’s creative activeness paying special attention to aims, rules, contents and the methods of realisation. Three publications were subjected to the analysis. They are: Program edukacyjny Żywioły. Lekcje twórczości w nauczaniu zintegrowanym by Jolanta Bonar and Krzysztof Jan Szmidt; Podróże, skarby, przygoda. Podręcznik i program rozwijania twórczości, samoświadomości oraz dyspozycji autokreacyjnych dzieci klas I–III by Janina Uszyńska-Jarmoc and Krok w kierunku kreatywności. Program stymulowania twórczości na etapie edukacji przedszkolnej i wczesnoszkolnej by Mariola Jąder. The analysis of the syllabuses shows that they fit perfectly into the contemporary direction of the integrated teaching. Not only do they take into consideration the integration of aims, contents, forms of expression and the methods of supporting children’s creative activeness but also they offer some interesting rules for working with children.
