Artykuł dotyczy analizy konwersacyjnej (AK) jako metody wywodzącej się z socjologii, a stosowanej i rozwijanej także w psychologii, językoznawstwie oraz logopedii. Celem artykułu jest przybliżenie możliwości metody w opisie interakcji werbalnych różnego typu. W tekście zaprezentowano zastosowanie AK w badaniu zdolności dialogowych dzieci bilingwalnych. Badano, jakie wzorce przełączania kodu (CS) występują w mowie dzieci dwujęzycznych, jakie są ich cechy wzorców oraz jakie strategie konwersacyjne występują w wywiadach z dziećmi. Stwierdzono, że CS ściśle wiąże się z brakami leksykalnymi w języku polskim. Zauważono cechy negocjacji konwersacyjnej w momentach użycia języka angielskiego. Poza tym wobec braków w polskim repertuarze językowym odnotowano u mówców stosowanie napraw, a także nakładanie się wypowiedzi interlokutorów.
The article concerns conversation analysis (CA) as a method derived from sociology, and also used and developed in psychology, linguistics, and speech and language therapy. The article aims at presenting the potential of the method in describing various types of verbal interactions. The text presents the use of CA to explore the dialogic abilities of bilingual children. The authors study code switching (CS) patterns occurring in bilingual children’s speech, the features of these patterns, and conversational strategies that appear in interviews with children. It was found that CS is closely linked to lexical deficits in Polish. The features of conversational negotiation were noticed when using English. Moreover, due to deficiencies in the Polish linguistic repertoire, the speakers used repairs, and the statements of the interlocutors would often overlap.

The article addresses whether the enactment of anti-defection legislation reduces legislative party switching in parliament. This question is pertinent because some researchers cease to analyze cases of legislative party switching when anti-defection legislation is present in a political system. However, the example of New Zealand demonstrates the fallacy of such an assumption. Despite anti-defection legislation being passed twice, it has not effectively deterred parliamentarians from changing party affiliations. Instead, they have strengthened the position of parliamentary group leaders in relation to parliamentarians and the necessity for the latter to rely on loopholes that shield them from the severe consequences of party switching. A dogmatic analysis of the current legislation and a systemic analysis of the selected case lead to this overarching conclusion.
Artykuł odpowiada na pytanie, czy uchwalenie przepisów antydezercyjnych wpływa na zmniejszenie liczby transferów międzyfrakcyjnych w parlamencie. Pytanie jest o tyle zasadne, że część badaczy rezygnuje z analizowania takich przypadków w sytuacji odnotowania w danym systemie politycznym przepisów antydezercyjnych. Przykład Nowej Zelandii dowodzi jednak, że takie postępowanie jest nieprawidłowe. W tym państwie bowiem przepisy antydezercyjne, uchwalone dwukrotnie, nie stanowiły skutecznej bariery zniechęcającej parlamentarzystów do zmian afiliacji partyjnych. Wpłynęły natomiast na wzmocnienie pozycji liderów grup parlamentarnych wobec parlamentarzystów oraz na konieczność uciekania się tych ostatnich do luk w przepisach, które chroniły ich przed dotkliwymi konsekwencjami decyzji o transferze. Do tych wniosków prowadzi analiza dogmatyczna obowiązujących przepisów oraz analiza systemowa wybranego przypadku.

Over the past few years, a significant increase in network traffic volumes has been observed. The ever growing bandwidth demands mean that a reliable and optimum service level needs to be ensured in communication systems for specific traffic categories. Optimal allocation and use of resources may be achieved through the use of call admission control (CAC) mechanisms implemented in network systems. The resource reservation mechanism and the threshold mechanism are two of the most popular CAC methods. In the reservation mechanisms, a certain number of resources is reserved for selected (predefined) services only. In the case of threshold mechanisms, the number of resources allocated to individual traffic classes depends on the network load. This article discusses the results of simulations verifying the impact of applied CAC mechanisms on the traffic characteristics in elastic optical network (EON) nodes with a Clos structure. Loss probability results obtained with the use of the simulator are presented as well.

Ensuring a seamless connection with various types of mobile user equipment (UE) items is one of the more significant challenges facing different generations of wireless systems. However, enabling the high-band spectrum – such as the millimeter wave (mmWave) band – is also one of the important factors of 5G networks, as it enables them to deal with increasing demand and ensures high coverage. Therefore, the deployment of new (small) cells with a short range and operating within the mmWave band is required in order to assist the macro cells which are responsible for operating long-range radio connections. The deployment of small cells results in a new network structure, known as heterogeneous networks (HetNets). As a result, the number of passthrough cells using the handover (HO) process will be dramatically increased. Mobility management (MM) in such a massive network will become crucial, especially when it comes to mobile users traveling at very high speeds. Current MM solutions will be ineffective, as they will not be able to provide the required reliability, flexibility, and scalability.Thus, smart algorithms and techniques are required in future networks. Also, machine learning (ML) techniques are perfectly capable of supporting the latest 5G technologies that are expected to deliver high data rates to upcoming use cases and services, such as massive machine type communications (mMTC), enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), and ultra-reliable low latency communications (uRLLC). This paper aims to review the MM approaches used in 5G HetNets and describes the deployment of AI mechanisms and techniques in ″connected mode″ MM schemes. Furthermore, this paper addresses the related challenges and suggests potential solutions for 5G networks and beyond.

Autonomous coordination of multi-agent systems can improve the reaction and dispatching ability of multiple agents to emergency events. The existing research has mainly focused on the reactions or dispatching in specific scenarios. However, task-level coordination has not received significant attention. This study proposes a framework for autonomous switching of task-level strategies (ASTS), which can automatically switch strategies according to different scenarios in the task execution process. The framework is based on the blackboard system, which takes the form of an instance as an agent and the form of norm(s) as a strategy; it uses events to drive autonomous cooperation among multiple agents. A norm may be triggered when an event occurs. After the triggered norm is executed, it can change the data, state, and event in ASTS. To demonstrate the autonomy and switchability of the proposed framework, we develop a fire emergency reaction dispatch system. This system is applied to emergency scenarios involving fires. Five types of strategies and two control modes are designed for this system. Experiments show that this system can autonomously switch between different strategies and control modes in different scenarios with promising results. Our framework improves the adaptability and flexibility of multiple agents in an open environment and represents a solid step toward switching strategies at the task level.

Contemporary artworks are primary sources for a better understanding of the most important issues in our current reality. The complexities of cultural interactions are often thematized in pieces of art using the artistic means of code-switching, and where the investigation of these questions is pursued in and with regards to the issues of the broader context, including the built and the urban setting. In this paper I examine some aspects of these questions, with the help of some inspiring examples, through artworks by creators coming from five different parts of the world: hence in the works by Manit Sriwanichpoom, Nandipha Mntambo, Michael Rakowitz, Yinka Shonibare, and Marja Helander. In this way I aim to emphasize the global relevance of these issues, as well as what we can thus learn from and about our own origins, current standpoints, and further possibilities.

In this article, a 3D printed rectangular dielectric resonator antenna which is capable of polarization reconfiguration has been designed. Dielectric resonator is composed of environment friendly and biodegradable material, which is Polylactic Acid. In the proposed model, the polarization can be switch from a linear to a circular by changing the state of a switch, electonically. The antenna switch between two different polarizations: Linear polarization during OFF STATE and Lefthand circular polarization during ON STATE. The proposed 3D printed dielectric resonator antenna is designed to operate in Cband of microwave spectrum, with a broad effective bandwidth (overlapped impedance bandwidths of both states) of 14.542% with centre frequency at 5.845GHz and peak gain 5.5dBi. Further, validated simulated results with experiment and both results are in good agreement.

This paper presents a novel systolic two-dimensional (2D) block finite impulse response(FIR) filter architecture using a distributed arithmetic (DA)-based multiplexer look-uptable (DA-MUX-LUT). The proposed DA-MUX-LUT architecture computes the instan-taneous partial-product using the bit vector. The switching-based LUT replaces memory-based structures and reduces hardware complexity. Block processing allows memory reuse,which reduces the number of registers to store the previous input samples. Parallel addersare substituted by a modified carry look-ahead adder (MCLA), which minimizes the delay.Moreover, a resource-sharing concept is introduced to the DA-MUX-LUT block that drastically reduces the adder requirement. The application specific integrated circuit (ASIC)synthesis results show that the proposed DA-MUX-LUT-based 2-D block FIR filter forfilter size 8x8 and block size 4 has 31.22% less delay, 28.66% less area-delay product(ADP), 37.70% less power-delay product (PDP), and occupies almost the same area thanthe existing architecture.

The paper is aimed to investigate the reliability metrics of a multi-unit fault-tolerant control (FTC) system wherein the units are subject to failure and those are repairable by two heterogeneous servers. Server 1 remains permanently available for essential service of failed units, whereas server 2 goes on vacation and renders service based on the N-policy threshold, which may also provide optional and essential services. Server 1 may break down at a steady rate during its servicing period but immediately gets repaired and resume servicing the failed units. When the working unit fails, the available warm standby unit holds responsibility for the smooth operation of the system. The transition of standby units to operational mode may be unsuccessful with switching failure probability. We develop a Markovian model to obtain the steady-state probabilities. We explore computational and sensitivity analysis of different performance measures for various variability of the parameters.

This article presents a synthesis strategy aimed at minimizing the dynamic power consumption of combinational circuits mapped in LUT blocks of FPGAs. The implemented circuits represent the mapping of multi-output functions. Properly selected multi-output functions are described using a new form of the binary decision diagram (BDD), which is an extension of pseudomulti-terminal BDDs (PMTBDDs) in the literature. The essence of limiting power consumption is to include additional parameters during decomposition, such as the switching activity associated with the switching PMTBDD (SWPMTBDD). In addition, we highlight the key importance of circuit optimization methods via non-disjoint decomposition when minimizing power consumption. An algorithm is proposed to assess the effectiveness of decomposition, considering several parameters, such as the number of non-disjoint decompositions as well as that of shared and non-shared bound functions or the switching activity. The results of experiments that demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods are also included.

With the growing number of city vehicles, traffic management is becoming a persistent challenge. Traffic bottlenecks cause significant disturbances in our everyday lives and raise stress levels, negatively impacting the environment by increasing carbon emissions. Due to the population increase, megacities are experiencing severe challenges and significant delays in their day-to-day activities related to transportation. An intelligent traffic management system is required to assess traffic density regularly and take appropriate action. Even though separate lanes are available for various vehicle types, wait times for commuters at traffic signal points are not reduced. The proposed methodology employs artificial intelligence to collect live images from signals to address this issue in the current system. This approach calculates traffic density, utilizing the image processing technique YOLOv4 for effective traffic congestion management. The YOLOv4 algorithm produces better accuracy in the detection of multiple vehicles. Intelligent monitoring technology uses a signal-switching algorithm at signal intersections to coordinate time distribution and alleviate traffic congestion, resulting in shorter vehicle waiting times.

Most studies of linear hypergraphs consider only the uniform case, in which all the subsets have the same size. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest pokazanie, jakie czynniki socjolingwistyczne mają wpływ na kształtowanie się wielojęzyczności jednostki oraz jaka jest korelacja pomiędzy używanymi językami w kon[1]tekście historycznym i społecznym. Czynniki wpływające na wielojęzyczność jednostki zależą od miejsca urodzenia (język ojca, język matki), miejsca zamieszkania (wieś, miasto, liczba użytkowników mówiących w danym języku), od statusu i prestiżu języka (język administracji państwowej, język mniejszości grupy), polityka językowa państwa (stała, zmienna). Została nakreślona sytuacja społeczno-polityczna Republiki Mołdawii, aby zrozumieć konkretny przypadek językowy Polki mieszkającej w Kiszyniowie i jej życie w językach oraz pokazać rolę języka jednostki na tle zmian społeczno-politycznych w Mołdawii. Różne czynniki społeczne, polityczne, ekonomiczne wpłynęły na wielojęzyczność Polki z Kiszyniowa. W ciągu jej długiego życia zmieniał się zakres użycia języków i kompetencje w każdym z nich. Czynniki zewnętrzne ukształtowały jej zachowania językowe. Na zmianę, używanie i nabywanie kolejnych języków miały wpływ wydarzenia polityczno-społeczne w tej części Europy.
The language biography in the socio-political process: The example of Polish woman from the Republic of Moldova. The aim of this article is to show what sociolinguistic factors influence the shaping of an individual’s multilingualism and what is the correlation between the languages used in the historical and social context. Factors influencing the multilingualism of an individual depend on the place of birth (father’s language, mother’s language), place of residence (village, city, number of speakers in a given language), the status and prestige of the language (the language of the state administration, the language of a minority group), the state’s language policy (constant, variable). The socio-political situation of the Republic of Moldova was outlined in order to understand the specific linguistic case of Poland living in Chisinau and her life in languages, and to show the role of an individual’s language in the context of socio-political changes in Moldova. Various social, political and economic factors influenced the multilingualism of the Polish woman from Chisinau. Over the course of her long life, the range of language use and the competences in each of them have changed. External factors shaped her linguistic behavior. Political and social events in this part of Europe influenced the change, use and acquisition of new languages.

With the extinction of fossil fuels and high increase in power demand, the necessity for renewable energy power generation has increased globally. Solar PV is one such renewable energy power generation, widely used these days in the power sector. The inverters used for power conversion suffer from power losses in the switching elements. This paper aims at the detailed analysis on switching losses in these inverters and also aims at increasing the efficiency of the inverter by reducing losses. Losses in these power electronic switches vary with their types. In this analysis the most widely used semiconductor switches like the insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) and metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) are compared. Also using the sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) technique, improves the system efficiency considerably. Two SPWM-based singlephase inverters with the IGBT and MOSFET are designed and simulated in a MATLAB Simulink environment. The voltage drop and, thereby, the power loss across the switches are compared and analysed. The proposed technique shows that the SPWM inverter with the IGBT has lower power loss than the SPWM inverter with the MOSFET.

High-speed switching capabilities of SiC MOSFET power modules allow building high power converters working with elevated switching frequencies offering high efficiencies and high power densities. As the switching processes get increasingly rapid, the parasitic capacitances and inductances appearing in SiC MOSFET power modules affect switching transients more and more significantly. Even relatively small parasitic capacitances can cause a significant capacitive current flow through the SiC MOSFET power module. As the capacitive current component in the drain current during the turn-off process is significant, a commonly used metod of determining the switching power losses based on the product of instantaneous values of drain-source voltage and drain current may lead to a severe error. Another problem is that charged parasitic capacitances discharge through the MOSFET resistive channel during the turn-on process. As this happens in the internal structure, that current is not visible on the MOSFET terminals. Fast switching processes are challenging to measure accurately due to the imperfections of measurement probes, like their output signals delay mismatch. This paper describes various problems connected with the correct determination of switching power losses in high-speed SiC MOSFET power modules and proposes solutions to these problems. A method of achieving a correct time alignment of waveforms collected by voltage and current probes has been shown and verified experimentally. In order to estimate SiC MOSFET channel current during the fast turn-off process, a method based on the estimation of nonlinear parasitic capacitances current has also been proposed and verified experimentally.
