Opis:
In this paper two forms of switching regression models with non-normal errors are considered. The pseudo maximum likelihood method is proposed for the estimation of their parameters. Monte Carlo experiments results are presented for a special switching regression model, too. In this research there are compared distributions of parameters estimators for different distributions of errors. The error distributions are as follows: normal, Student’s or Laplace’s. The maximum likelihood method (for the normal errors) is applied to the estimation. In most of the cases the estimators distributions do not differ significantly.

Opis:
This paper addresses an important issue of information of granulation and relationships between the size of information granules and the ensuing robustness aspects. The use of shadowed sets helps identify and quantify absorption properties of set-based information granules. Discussed is also a problem of determining an optimal level of information granulation arising in the presence of noisy data. The study proposes a new architecture of granular computing involving continuous and granulated variables. Numerical examples are also included.

In this article, we present a relay control scheme based on LQR design with fast convergence. This scheme provides a practical and simple way to achieve fast convergence based on the well-known LQR design principle. The controller is a global stabiliser in the sense that for any given initial condition, we can always initialize the controller to drive the system to reach the origin. This controller is tunable in accordance with the position of the system state: the closer to the origin, the larger the control gains, which results in a fast control that maintains bounded control magnitude. It has also been shown that setting matrix Q can significantly influence the tendency of eigenvalues to switch the hyperplane. The relation between matrix Q and the tendency of those eigenvalues has been identified. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the scheme.

We examine nonlinear optical effects in the active medium of the thin-film quasiwaveguide amplifier-oscillator with injection of the external signal. The injection locking has been obtained in the case when both the frequency and the direction of propagation of the injected signal differ from those for a free-running thin-film laser which offers a possibility for the frequency and directional switching of the output of the thin-film laser. The effects of four wave mixing and phase conjugation have been discussed in the active medium of the thin-film laser when additional mirrors forming an external resonator have been used.

Scharakteryzowano kierunki rozwoju sieci inteligentnej na podstawie dokumentów normalizacyjnych zestawu usługowego CS-2 (Capability Set 2) oraz planów i propozycji dostawców rozwiązań sprzętowych. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na procesy adaptacyjne struktury sieci inteligentnej do świadczenia usług dodatkowych przez operatorów sieci komórkowych (koncepcja CAMEL).
The paper describes directions of intelligent networks evolution. The analysis is based on the latest issues of standardization documents defining the Capability Set 2 and contains proposals of solutions offered by suppliers. The main adaptation trends of IN to mobile networks are underlined and an example of implementation of IN functionality in mobile network based on ETSI CAMEL standard is given.

The backbone networks evolution to high-speed DWDM networks generates new problems for switching. This function element must be also based on optical technology. For large capacity this cannot be realized by a single matrix, but by multistage switching networks. In the paper three types of optical matrices have been described: fiber switch FX, wavelength fiber switch WSX and wavelength interchanging fiber switch WIX. Based on these matrices, four switching network constructions were considered. The connection properties of these switching networks were evaluated, determining the electronic equivalent switching network for which these properties are well known.

Scharakteryzowano specyficzne właściwości ruchu typowego dla sieci Internet i architekturę przyszłych optycznych sieci transportowych. Przedstawiono korzyści, wynikające z zastosowania komutacji w warstwie optycznej. Ponadto zaprezentowano koncepcję optycznej transparentnej sieci pakietowej oraz sieci optycznej, wykorzystującej technikę etykietowanej grupowej komutacji pakietów optycznych LOBS.
The article presents specific characteristics of Internet traffic and the architecture of the future optical transport networks resulting from it. Also the advantages of using the optical packet switching technology are shown. Moreover, the optical transparent packet network paradigm and the labeled optical burst switching paradigm are presented.

This paper presents a new switching median filter utilising local contrast entropy of the samples inside the filtering window. The proposed method is fully adaptive, it requires no optimisation and eliminates the main disadvantages of the local contrast probability based switching median. Excellent performance of the proposed method is a result of the successful analysis of input samples, as the local contrast entropy concept is able to efficiently differentiate between outliers and desired edge samples.

In this paper the new packet switch architecture with multiple output queuing (MOQ) is proposed. In this architecture the nonblocking switch fabric, which has the capacity of N _N2 N2, and output buffers arranged into N separate queues for each output, are applied. Each of N queues in one output port stores packets directed to this output only from one input. Both switch fabric and buffers can operate at the same speed as input and output ports. This solution does not need any speedup in the switch fabric as well as arbitration logic for taking decisions which packets from inputs will be transferred to outputs. Two possible switch fabric structures are considered: the centralized structure with the switch fabric located on one or several separate boards, and distributed structure with the switch fabric distributed over line cards. Buffer arrangements as separate queues with independent write pointers or as a memory bank with one pointer are also discussed. The mean cell delay and cell loss probability as performance measures for the proposed switch architecture are evaluated and compared with performance of OQ architecture and VOQ architecture. The hardware complexity of OQ, VOQ and presented MOQ are also compared. We conclude that hardware complexity of proposed switch is very similar to VOQ switch but its performance is comparable to OQ switch.

As computer technology has advanced, information processing in command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems has become highly complex. The information processed by these systems is usually of a very highly sensitive nature and is entered into specific systems that are physically isolated from each other. The physical isolation of these systems makes it cumbersome to exchange information between systems. The result is inefficient sharing of sensitive information in situations where timeliness of exchange could be a life or death reality. Since the mid 1990's, increasing efforts have been placed on improving coalition operations. Many systems have been created with the goal to improve the sharing of information and collaborative planning across coalition boundaries. The usability of these systems have had mixed levels of success and improvements will always be necessary. This paper will briefly describe three advances in telecommunications technology that could be leveraged to significantly improve coalition operations. These technologies are; the session border controller (SBC), advances in pattern matching technology, and multi-protocol label switching (MPLS).

The formalism of the calculus of variations is applied to determine an optimal control of a class of Hybrid Dynamical Systems. This class consists of autonomous switching systems where jumps of the state are taken into account. It is shown that model switching involves discontinuities in the adjoint state of the system. The expression of the gradient of the cost function, with respect to the control, allows for the calculation of an optimal control by implementing a descent method. Au illustrative linear quadratic example is given, which allows to conclude that, the method can be easily implemented.

The article discusses class E zero-voltage-switching resonant inverter (ZVS). The resonant circuit of the inverter is subject to mathematical analysis using the method of state variables with the aid of MATLAB software. In this paper we study optimal control problems with bang-bang solution behavior for a special class of semilinear dynamics. Generalizing a former result for linear systems, optimlity conditions are derived by a duality based approach. The results apply for scalar as well as for vector control functions and, in particular, for the case of the so-called multiple switches, too. Further, an iterative procedure for determining switching points is proposed, and convergence results are provided.
