As a result of the growing importance of ''green'' practices conducted by participants of supply chains, the interest of possibly obtained results on this account also increases. Therefore, the purpose of these considerations is to indicate what kind of effects are most often obtained by entities in the above dimension. Quantitative research was carried out among manufacturing enterprises registered in Poland, which are participants of domestic and international supply chains. A questionnaire was used as a research tool. On the basis of research, among other things, it has been proved that enterprises primarily produce results in the area of for the sake of materials management and for the natural environment, while clearly visible economic effects are not notably visible. This is characteristic of the initial stage of the development of green practices.

Background: The issue of managing sustainability in supply chain seems to be more and more complex. There are many aspects that need to be taken into consideration when planning, implementing and monitoring environmental and social conditions of supply chains. Despite many works, already published, on the concept of sustainable development (SD) is seems that the issue of assessment and especially the issue of maturity in the light of the SD concept is still not developed enough. Methods: The general aim of the paper is the analysis of the maturity issue in the context of sustainability. The main objective is to conceptualize the idea of maturity in sustainable supply chain. Beside the literature research the own proposition of theoretical model was described. Results: The article describes the issue of maturity as an element of managing sustainable development in the supply chain. The author presented a theoretical model of the maturity. Moreover the author gave some recommendations how to manage the sustainability issues in supply chain in more mature approach and introduced some useful tools among which are: certification, code of conduct and code of ethics, audits, projects etc. Conclusions: The issue of maturity seems to be very useful for proper understanding the idea of sustainable development in supply chain. The developed model can be used as self-assessment method to check at which level of implementation the idea of SD is analyzed in supply chain. Furthermore, the next phase of the planned research in form of practical verification of the model was advised as well as a research of identification of new factors and tools in analyzed area.
Wstęp: Problematyka zarządzania zrównoważonym rozwojem w łańcuchu dostaw wydaje się być coraz bardziej złożona. Istnieje wiele aspektów, które muszą być brane pod uwagę przy planowaniu, realizacji i monitorowaniu warunków środowiskowych i społecznych w łańcuchach dostaw. Mimo dużego dorobku naukowego dotykającego problematyki zrównoważonego rozwoju (ZR) w łańcuchu dostaw kwestia oceny, a zwłaszcza poziomu dojrzałości nie jest jeszcze wystarczająco rozwinięta. Metody: Głównym celem artykułu jest analiza kwestii dojrzałości w kontekście zrównoważonego rozwoju. Obok przeglądu literatury autorka prezentuje własną propozycję modelu teoretycznego. Wyniki: W artykule nakreślono istotę dojrzałości w kontekście zarządzania zrównoważonym łańcuchem dostaw. Autorka przedstawiła teoretyczny model dojrzałości. Dodatkowym elementem są rekomendacje uzupełnione o narzędzia, które można wykorzystać w praktyce jak np.: system certyfikacji, kodeksy postępowania, kodeksy etyczne, audyty czy projekty. Wnioski: Włączenie kwestii dojrzałości do problematyki zarządzania zrównoważonym łańcuchem dostaw wydaje się bardzo potrzebne. Dzięki niej organizacjom łatwiej jest rozumieć istotę zrównoważonego rozwoju. Zaproponowany model użyty jako metoda samooceny dodatkowo pozwala sprawdzić, na jakim poziomie wdrożenia jest obecnie analizowany przez organizację łańcuchu dostaw. W kolejnej fazie planowanych badań zweryfikowany zostanie model teoretyczny. Dodatkowym kierunkiem badań opisywanej problematyki jest identyfikacja kluczowych czynników sukcesu i ich weryfikacja na podstawie badań empirycznych.

The purpose of the study is presentation of the method of increasing the competitiveness of the mining industry through the demonstration of the possibility and potential in closing the loop of supply chains through waste management. A critical analysis of the source literature and an arithmetic analysis of statistical data in static and dynamic perspectives were accepted to be the research method. It has been found that the structure of the level of mining wastes and the level of their recovery rates demonstrate a large potential of closing the loop of chains in this industry and, at the same time, a potential to extend the chains through directing the material from recovery to various sectors. This constitutes an example of the direction of activities that are in line with the EU strategies for the economies of other states which possess this type wastes.

Aim/purpose - This research aims to design an analytical framework to investigate the dimensions, factors, and key indicators affecting the green supply chain based on the innovative technology of Artificial Intelligence of Everything (AIoE). Understanding the cause-and-effect relationships of all actors in this smart and sustainable system is also one of the critical goals of this research. Also, examining the key features of AIoE technology as a new hybrid technology is one of this research's most essential features. Design/methodology/approach - This research has tried to extract and refine the most critical parameters affecting the green supply chain based on technology by reviewing the literature and examining the opinions of active experts in the field of study. Then, by using the focus group, it has been tried to provide an analytical framework to express the cause-and-effect relationships of all actors active in this system by examining the basic features of AIoE. Finally, this framework was validated and approved using experts' opinions and the focus group, emphasizing integrity, comprehensiveness, and effectiveness. Findings - This research identified the dimensions, components, and indicators affecting the smart, green, and sustainable supply chain based on Artificial Intelligence (AI). It also presented an analytical framework that shows the cause-and-effect relationships of all active actors in this system. Research implications/limitations - This research simultaneously offers significant insights into implementing intelligent and sustainable process-oriented systems. However, it is important to note the limitations. One of the most significant challenges in presenting the framework was finding experts with sufficient awareness, knowledge, and experience and participants to analyze cause-and-effect relationships. Originality/value contribution - This research provides a practical analysis of AIoE technology for the first time. The results strongly support the argument that hybrid AIoE technology can tremendously impact the sustainability and greenness of supply chain processes.

The cognitive goal of the article is to systematize the knowledge in the field of Supply Chain Finance (SCF) in the context of the leading contemporary trends and challenges of Supply Chain Management (SCM). For the purposes of the research objective, Walmart was selected for the case study as a model implementation example. In the authors’ assessment, there is a need to discuss and organize knowledge about the co-existence of SCF with modern solutions such as sustainable finance or blockchain technology. The empirical goal is to assess the sustainable supply chain finances management (SSCF) in terms of shaping the financial condition of the company and its position on the market. Methods: To achieve the research objective, it was necessary to critically assess the present SCF literature and actual trends implemented in companies, which was done using case study method. The case study form was chosen due to the limited state of knowledge in a research area and the selected company is a precursor in this aspect. The research procedure consisted of: data collection, data analysis, formulating generalizations, confronting the literature, processing of generalizations and study closure. Results: Conducted research helped to develop the existing theory and systematize effects and identify potential opportunities from implementing sustainable supply chain finances management based on blockchain technology. Analysis of financial data proved that benefits exceed implementation costs. Conclusions: First, it was possible to develop an open-ended SCF benefit set, distinguished on the basis of varied literature. Second, implementing blockchain technology in the supply chain and drive to make it sustainable can be complementary activities. In summary, the authors formulate recommendations for other companies and indicate the direction of further research
W ocenie autorek istnieje potrzeba zwrócenia uwagi oraz uporządkowania wiedzy w zakresie współistnienia zarządzania finansami łańcucha dostaw z nowoczesnymi rozwiązaniami, takimi jak zrównoważone finanse, czy technologia blockchain. Metody: W ramach realizacji celu konieczna była krytyczna ocena obecnego dorobku literatury z zakresu SCF ora z aktualnych trendów wdrażanych w przedsiębiorstwach. Do osiągnięcia celu badawczego posłużono się studium przypadku przedsiębiorstwa Walmart, które pozwoli rozwinąć istniejącą teorię i dokładniej wyjaśnić kwestię osiąganych korzyści z wykorzystania technologii blockchain i zrównoważonych finansów do zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw. Posłużenie się studium przypadku jest uzasadnione ze względu na niewielki stan wiedzy w danym obszarze badań, a wybrana firma jest w tym aspekcie prekursorem. Procedura badawcza składała się z: gromadzenia danych, analizy danych, sformułowania uogólnień, konfrontacji z literaturą, opracowania uogólnień i zamknięcia badania. Cel: Celem poznawczym artykułu jest usystematyzowanie wiedzy z zakresu Supply Chain Finance (SCF) w kontekście wiodących współczesnych trendów i wyzwań Supply Chain Management (SCM). Celem empirycznym jest analiza potencjalnych korzyści dla przedsiębiorstw z zarządzania zrównoważonym rozwojem finansów łańcucha dostaw. Wnioski: Po pierwsze, możliwe było opracowanie zespołu korzyści służących do zarządzania finansami łańcucha dostaw. Zbiór ten wyróżniono na podstawie zróżnicowanej literatury i nie ma on charakteru zamkniętego. Po drugie, wdrożenie technologii blockchain w łańcuchu dostaw i dążenie do jego zrównoważania mogą być działaniami komplementarnymi. Podsumowując przeprowadzone rozważania, autorki formułują rekomendacje dla innych przedsiębiorstw i wskazują na kierunek dalszych badań.

Research background: The idea of sustainable development, in the face of the challenges encountered by contemporary society, is gaining increasing popularity. Currently, it recognizes the substantial role that companies play in its successful implementation. Initiatives in the field of sustainable development may be undertaken by companies independently as part of their own activities, or together with entities forming the supply chain as an element of sustainable supply chain management. Purpose of the article: Identification of groups of companies that are characterised by a different approach to cooperation in the field of sustainable development in the supply chain. Methods: The quantitative research was conducted in September 2020 with the use of the CATI (Computer-Assisted Telephone Interview) technique and a standardised survey questionnaire. A total of 500 randomly selected companies located in Poland participated in this study. The respondents were representatives of top management of the companies. In order to identify various groups of companies, a cluster analysis was performed using the k-means method in SPSS. Findings & value added: Based on the literature analysis, 3 areas of sustainable development have been identified, in which companies can become involved ? green design, sustainable operations, and reverse logistics & waste management. For each of the 3 areas, 3 clusters of companies were identified: companies that are not involved in sustainable development at all (1), companies that carry out most of the sustainable development initiatives independently (2), companies that carry out most of the sustainable development initiatives jointly with supply chain partners (3). The article also shows that the companies in different cluster differ in terms of perceived economic benefits achieved thanks to the implementation of sustainable development initiatives. This may suggest the need to develop separate sustainability solutions for such groups of companies in the future.

Background: The development of competitive advantage through the implementation of green supply chains is an interesting and a desirable way of the company's development from the perspective of social requirements. However, it is not always reflected in the requirements, which are posed by the market. The objective is therefore to conduct empirical studies as well as to design a model, which shall identify the relationships between the supply chain level of the engagement in pro-environmental activities and competitive instruments preferred by customers. Methods: In order to conduct the research, we conducted direct interviews with the use of a survey questionnaire. The subjects of the survey were medium and big production enterprises located in Wielkopolskie Voivodship. Results and conclusions: One of the findings of the conducted research, among others, was the conclusion that imposing pro-environmental demands from the side of direct customers leads to a higher level of company's engagement in this area. At the same time, we determined that the market requirements regarding environmental aspects are low. Therefore, there's an urgent need to develop some incentives, which are activating in this area of suppliers.
Wstęp: Wypracowanie przewagi konkurencyjnej drogą implementacji zielonych łańcuchów dostaw jest interesującą i pożądaną z punktu widzenia społecznych oczekiwań drogą rozwoju przedsiębiorstw, niemniej nie zawsze ma to odzwierciedlenie w wymaganiach, jakie stawia rynek. W związku z powyższym celem podjętych rozważań jest opracowanie modelu umożliwiającego zidentyfikowanie zależności występujących między stopniem zaangażowania przedsiębiorstw w działalność prośrodowiskową realizowaną wzdłuż łańcucha dostaw, a instrumentami konkurowania preferowanymi przez odbiorców oraz przeprowadzenie badań empirycznych. Metody: W celu przeprowadzenia badań przeprowadzono wywiady bezpośrednie na podstawie kwestionariusza ankiety. Podmiotem badań były średnie i duże przedsiębiorstwa produkcyjne zlokalizowane w województwie wielkopolskim. Rezultaty i wnioski: W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań między innymi ustalono, iż stawianie wymagań prośrodowiskowych ze strony bezpośrednich odbiorców wiąże się z wyższym poziomem zaangażowania przedsiębiorstw w omawianym obszarze zagadnień. Jednocześnie stwierdzono, że oczekiwania rynkowe dotyczące aspektów środowiskowych są niskie. Istnieje zatem pilna potrzeba wypracowania bodźców aktywizujących w tym obszarze odbiorców.

The rate of economic, technological, political and legal changes, as well as the complexity of predicting demand, behavior and preferences of consumers, along with expanding markets contribute to the growing importance of sustainable supply chain in the company’s operation, playing a special role in the decision making process and adaptation to the consumer needs of. In order, therefore, to achieve a competitive advantage, it is necessary to maintain the high level of innovation, which should result in the implementation of new solutions, ideas and concepts that contribute to the competitiveness on a global scale.

Logistics operators are characterized by a high dynamics of an increase of incomes, and hence increased shipping. Owing to a rational policy in the area of the consolidation of production and distribution, they may boast of a better use of the means of transport. The aim of the article is to analyse the promoted behaviours of logistics operators in Poland and in Ukraine. The research methods used in the study include a literature analysis, a comparative analysis and a questionnaire survey of logistics operators’ clients in Poland and in Ukraine. Selected items have been evaluated: eco-friendly programs, action for the environment, exhaust emission reports, CSR activities carried out locally, nationally and globally, sustainable development of logistics operators, professional development of employees, innovative technologies implemented by logistics operators and transport safety. The analysis conducted in relation to logistics operators will show similarities and differences in the promoted environmental activities and to what extent this is noticed by customers.

W części praktycznej odniesiono się do schematu podstępowania w praktyce biznesowej na przykładzie przedsiębiorstwa hutniczego (kodeks odpowiedzialnego pozyskiwania zasobów, kwestionariusz samooceny dostawców itp.).
The article presents theoretical and practical background of sustainable supply chain. This paper aims at analysis of methodology and practice of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM). Theory is based on literature overview. Case study are solutions (code of supplier responsibility, self-audit supplier, etc.) in metallurgical company.

W artykule podjęto problem nierównowagi relacji w kształtowaniu zrównoważonego łańcucha dostaw (SSC). Analiza relacji kupujący-dostawca została przeprowadzona z wykorzystaniem analizy studium przypadku łańcuchów dostaw branży spożywczej. Wykazała ona, że występująca przewaga wymusza osiąganie zgodności z wymaganiami rozwoju zrównoważonego (SD). Cele i inicjatywy SD są określane w sposób arbitralny, a ich koszty oraz ryzyko przerzucane na dostawców. Z perspektywy zarządzania organizacjami praca przyczynia się do lepszego zrozumienia wpływu nierównowagi na wdrażanie rozwoju zrównoważonego.
The paper is concerned with the problem of imbalance in supply chain relations in the forming of a sustainable supply chain. Analysis of the purchaser-supplier relationship is conducted with the use of the case study method. It shows that the presence of an advantage enforces compliance with the requirements of sustainable development. The objectives and initiatives of SD are determined in an arbitrary way, but their costs and risks are transferred to suppliers. From a management perspective, the paper contributes to a better understanding of the influence of imbalance on implementing sustainable development.

Improving the concept of supply chain management and consideration of the environmental aspects and impacts on it, is the basis for the development of enterprises operating in the textile industry. It should be emphasised that the issue of sustainable supply chain management, due to its inherent complexity, requires continuous analysis of the situation of internal and external decision-making and is burdened with greater or lesser risk concerning the choice of strategy and resource allocation. Therefore supply chain management should be supported by a variety of instruments to streamline organisational structures and processes. These activities should be planned in detail and adapted to the specific nature of the industry. With this in mind, the aim of this article is to develop guidelines for the concept of sustainable supply chain management in the textile industry.
Doskonalenie koncepcji zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw i uwzględnianie w zarządzaniu nim aspektów środowiskowych jest podstawą rozwoju przedsiębiorstw działających w przemyśle włókienniczym. Podkreślenia wymaga fakt, że problematyka zrównoważonego zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw ze względu na swą złożoność wymaga ciągłej analizy funkcjonowania wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych procesów oraz podejmowania decyzji obarczonych mniejszym lub większym ryzkiem odnośnie wyboru strategii zarządzania i alokacji zasobów. Dlatego zarządzanie łańcuchem dostaw powinno być wspierane przez szereg instrumentów usprawniających główne procesy w nim zachodzące. Ponadto musi być szczegółowo zaplanowane i powinno być dostosowane do specyfiki branży. Mając to na względzie, celem artykułu było opracowanie wytycznych ułatwiających wdrożenie koncepcji zrównoważonego zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw w przemyśle włókienniczym.

Purpose: It is nowadays believed that the effective implementation of the principles of sustainable development in companies requires cooperation in entire supply chains. Companies are guided by various motivators and face various barriers to the implementation of sustainable supply chain practices (SSCPs); however, so far, no attention has been given to examining the relationship between them. Thus, the aim of the paper is to examine such relationships. Design/methodology/approach: The paper presents the results of a survey conducted on a sample of 500 companies. The aim of the paper is achieved by examining Spearman’s correlation coefficient. Findings: In most cases, a positive correlation is observed between the motivators for and barriers to SSCPs implementation. Additionally, such dependence occurs more often for external motivators, compared to internal motivators. Research implications: The activities supporting the implementation of SSCPs should concentrate on strengthening internal motivators in companies (e.g., by propagating relevant knowledge) as well as overcoming internal barriers. The importance of external motivators seems to be reduced by the coexistence of barriers. Originality/value: This paper contributes to supply chain and sustainable development literature by identifying a positive correlation between motivators for and barriers to SSCPs implementation. Such a finding may be important to policymakers, as it suggest that concentrating merely on motivating companies to implement sustainability principles may not be sufficient if it is not accompanied by barrier-breaking mechanisms.
Cel: obecnie uważa się, że skuteczne wdrażanie zasad zrównoważonego rozwoju w firmach wymaga współpracy w całych łańcuchach dostaw. Firmy kierują się różnymi motywatorami i napotykają różne bariery we wdrażaniu praktyk zrównoważonego łańcucha dostaw; jednak dotychczas nie badano zależności między nimi, co jest celem prezentowanego artykułu. Metodologia: w artykule przedstawiono wyniki badania ankietowego przeprowadzonego na próbie 500 firm. Cel pracy został osiągnięty poprzez zbadanie współczynnika korelacji Spearmana. Wyniki: w większości przypadków obserwuje się dodatnią korelację pomiędzy motywatorami i barierami we wdrażaniu praktyk zrównoważonego łańcucha dostaw. Dodatkowo taka zależność występuje częściej w przypadku motywatorów zewnętrznych niż wewnętrznych Implikacje badawcze: działania wspierające wdrażanie praktyk zrównoważonego łańcucha dostaw powinny koncentrować się na wzmacnianiu wewnętrznych motywatorów w firmach (np. poprzez propagowanie odpowiedniej wiedzy) oraz pokonywaniu wewnętrznych barier. Znaczenie zewnętrznych motywatorów wydaje się być pomniejszone przez współistnienie barier. Oryginalność/wartość: artykuł stanowi wkład w literaturę związaną z łańcuchem dostaw i zrównoważonym rozwojem, identyfikując pozytywną korelację między motywatorami i barierami we wdrażaniu praktyk zrównoważonego łańcucha dostaw. Takie odkrycie może być ważne dla decydentów, ponieważ sugeruje, że koncentrowanie się wyłącznie na motywowaniu firm do wdrażania zasad zrównoważonego rozwoju może nie wystarczyć, jeśli nie towarzyszą mu mechanizmy przełamywania barier.
