    Opis:
    Evaluating the capacity to meet the need of water is crucial in order to fulfil expectations of managers, particularly in the Mediterranean area. The region is risk in terms of resources available as well as a steadily increasing in demand for water. The frontier drain of the city of Souk Ahras is located at the extreme Northeast of Algeria, on the Algerian-Tunisian borders, the study region includes eight city, which are Taoura, Drea, Zaârouria, Merahna, Ouillen, SidiFredj, Heddada and Khedara, these are relatively poor in surface water, but groundwater has always been the main water resource. The region’s population is around 93,000 inhabitants, 45% of them living in rural areas. Annual average precipitation is approximately 470 mm∙y–1, but it is distributed unequally in space and time. The average supply water varies from one zone to another and the coverage of demand by groundwater in the region remains low and does not meet all needs. Faced with the regions socioeconomic growth and development, this situation is expected to worsen in the future. In this context, the WEAP (Water Evaluation And Planning system) model was applied to simulate the water balance and assess strategies for the sustainable management of water resources and makes it possible to explore different scenarios, in order to choose the desired scenario to ensure the sustainable development of the sub-basin of the border until 2050. The availability of drinking water permanently in rural areas is a factor in the stability of a population and a means of combating the rural migration and the congestion of urban centres.

    The aim of the article is to present the essence of sustainable human resource management and attempt to answer the question of whether enterprises actually use the concept of the sustainable management of human resources in business management to achieve sustainable development. This is why the following research question was chosen for the study: “Is the concept of sustainable human resource management important in achieving sustainable development of an enterprise?” Verification of the research question and the realisation of the stated goal were made on the basis of a critical analysis of the source literature and a case study. In striving to achieve the research goal, the first part of the article presents the essence of sustainable human resource management; the second part presents a case study. This paper concludes with the applications in which the research question was confirmed. Enterprises choose a strategy for human resource management, depending on the following: the situation in the labour market, the economic situation, legal regulations, demographics, changes in technology in a given enterprise, the activities of both the employers’ and employees’ organisations, as well as self-governing bodies, employment agencies or personnel consulting firms and the capital owned by the organisation. The results of this study have shown that enterprises actually use the concept of the sustainable management of human resources in business management to achieve sustainable development.

    W niniejszej pracy zaprezentowano i omówiono archetyp systemowy tragedii współużytkowania. Przedstawiono następnie model dynamiki systemu dotkniętego takim problemem i zaproponowano sposób jego rozwiązania.
    The thesis raises the issue of the tragedy of the commons environmental resources. The problem was considered using a system dynamics approach. The article discusses the archetype of the Tragedy of the Commons, which initiated a deeper analysis of the problem using dynamic models. Performed simulations allowed the system to point out causes of overexploitation of the resource, which leads to its exhaustion. The study presents and discusses model of sustainable resource management. This model includes the new rules in its structure, which guarantee respect for the resource limitations of the system.

    The concept of sustainability – understood as a company’s ability to achieve its business goals and to increase long-term shareholder value by integrating economic, environmental and social opportunities into its business strategies – seems vital for companies operating worldwide. Additionally, human resources are acknowledged to be among the most valuable assets for them. The purpose of the study is to examine the important factors associated with the organizations’ move towards greater sustainability and the role human resources are and might be playing in that process. The paper contributes to the emerging literature linking sustainability to the issues researched in HRM literature. Initially it discusses how the notion of sustainability has emerged and developed in the HRM literature. Then the role of Human Resource Management in the firm’s sustainability function is presented. Nine large, public, multinational companies rated among the world’s best for their handling of environment, governance, social responsibility, stakeholder management, and work environment issues, are analysed. These are the following: Alcoa, Bank of America, BASF, The Coca Cola Company, Eastman Kodak, Intel, Novartis AG, Royal Philips, and Unilever. Finally, areas of HR’s greatest contribution and areas needing more HR contribution are indicated and discussed and suggestions for managerial practices are delivered.
    Termin zrównoważony rozwój zaczął zyskiwać szeroką akceptację pod koniec lat osiemdziesiątych XX wieku, po publikacji Nasza wspólna przyszłość, znanej także jako Raport Brundtland. W odniesieniu do przedsiębiorstw zarządzanie zasobami ludzkimi ma priorytetowe znaczenie w skutecznej implementacji społecznych zasad rozwoju zrównoważonego. Rekrutacja odpowiednich osób na poszczególne stanowiska, wpisanie zadań wynikających z przyjęcia wymogów rozwoju zrównoważonego, przeprowadzanie określonych szkoleń w obszarze koncepcji rozwoju zrównoważonego oraz audytowanie ich wyników w praktyce może istotnie wpłynąć na realizację koncepcji w danym przedsiębiorstwie. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie zrównoważonego zarządzania zasobami ludzkimi od strony teoretycznej i praktycznej. W części pierwszej artykułu zaprezentowano przegląd stanowisk w kwestii zrównoważonego rozwoju odniesionego do zasobów ludzkich w przedsiębiorstwie, a w części drugiej na przykładzie wybranych przedsiębiorstw - Alcoa, Bank of America, BASF, The Coca Cola Company, Eastman Kodak, Intel, Novartis AG, Royal Philips oraz Unilever - zaprezentowano najlepsze praktyki zarządzania zasobami ludzkimi w powiązaniu z celami rozwoju zrównoważonego. W końcowej części artykułu przedstawiono największe osiągnięcia badanych przedsiębiorstw w dziedzinie implementacji zasad zrównoważonego zarządzania zasobami ludzkimi oraz wskazane obszary wymagające dalszej poprawy.

    Kiedy w odniesieniu do planowania przestrzennego mowa o „zrównoważonym rozwoju” czy „bezpieczeństwie”, istnieje ryzyko bardzo ogólnikowego traktowania wartości, które reprezentują. Potrzebne jest skonkretyzowanie tych pojęć, aby w kolejnym kroku zidentyfikować wartości w nich zakodowane. To prowadzi do oznaczenia konfliktów pomiędzy wartościami, które ma chronić plan, oraz zmusza do dokonania wyboru mechanizmu ich rozstrzygania. Takim mechanizmem jest zasada proporcjonalności. Następnym krokiem jest przyjęcie określonego modelu zarządzania danym terenem, inkorporowanego w miejscowym planie zagospodarowania przestrzennego. W omawianym przypadku jest to zarządzanie procesowe. Miejscowy plan musi być konkretny, musi spełniać wymogi prawne stawiane aktom prawa, a co najtrudniejsze, swoją treścią musi dowodzić, że kryteria jego jakości zostały spełnione oraz że jest kompletny: uwzględnia wszystkie wartości, które ma chronić, i odpowiednio porządkuje relacje między nimi.
    When you use the concept of “sustainable development” or “security” in reference to spatial planning there is a risk of treating the values they represent in terms of generalities. It is necessary to make these concepts more specific in order to identify the values encoded in them. This results in the specification of conflicts among the values that should be protected by the spatial development plan and forces the choice of an instrument for resolving them. The abovementioned instrument is the rule of proportionality. The next step is to implement a model of management of the space in the spatial development plan. In the discussed case it is process management. The spatial development plan has to be specific, has to fulfil legal conditions for the legal act and – the most difficult – must prove that the quality criteria are fulfilled and that it is complete, involving all values that it should protect and respecting the relations among them.

    Saltwater intrusion in the rapidly developing city of Da Nang in central Vietnam is currently causing various water-related challenges, including inadequate water supply and water pollution. An integrated SWAT-MODFLOW numerical model was used to investigate the origin and mechanism of saltwater in Holocene and Pleistocene aquifers. Geophysical and isotopic approaches were used to validate the SEAWAT model applied for simulating saltwater intrusion. The results suggest that the ebb and flow of tides, as well as water levels in rivers primarily impact coastal aquifers. However, effective water resource planning and management, along with maintaining the natural recharge of fresh water from local rain during the rainy season, could enable the rational and efficient utilization of groundwater, reducing saltwater intrusion in many areas. During the dry season, groundwater is recharged from higher altitude areas. The current saltwater intrusion mainly occurs along the rivers up to the hydraulic dam. Simulated models, using scenarios of stop abstracting groundwater, but changing to the use of surface water for drinking water, show that the area of saline water shrinks quickly after 30 years, reducing from 59.6 km2 to 39.5 km2 and from 40.2 km2 to 28.6 km2 in the Holocene and Pleistocene, respectively.

    The article examines the significance and role of eco-management in the system of green economy as it is connected with the need to develop new scientific and methodological approaches to managerial decision-making aimed at ensuring resource-oriented production and economic activities of an organization. The purpose of the research is to develop management technologies for eco-management to build a green economy. The eco-management technologies are studied in the following areas: 1) an analysis and evaluation of statistical observations on economic development trends and identification of issues in resource conservation, 2) justification of the need for a new approach to managing organizations, namely considering an environmental component in the decision-making process, 3) the choice of resource-saving measures in terms of a limited financial budget, 4) algorithmic implementation of environmental management components as an important component of an organization's competitive strategy. The methodical approach to the choice of environmental measures and criteria of resource utilization completeness is suggested. This allows forming the information space as a basis for making management decisions in the field of ecological safety of industrial organizations. During the last decade, the main trends of economic development have confirmed the importance of resource efficiency as far as economic and environmental aspects, which has allowed to determine the impact of research results on the economy and the environment from the standpoint of sustainable development. To this end, practical recommendations for reusing industrial waste in the production activities of companies have been provided. Within the established system of principles, criteria, and factors of rational and efficient use of resources in the conditions of modern economy, the issues of identifying and revealing the features in the development of branch organizations within the mechanism of their resource efficiency have proved to be crucial and of paramount importance.
