Aim. The aim of this work is to present a qualitative analysis of the movie proposals prepared by preservice teachers in the context of an educational experience around the ecofeminist movement. The responses to a final questionnaire about sustainability awareness are also analysed. Methods. The participants were 47 alumni of the Grades of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education at a Spanish university. After a lecture about ecofeminism and reading a series of fragments of the young literature novel Yabarí by Lola Robles (2017), preservice teachers had to prepare the proposal for an ecofeminist movie, with a synopsis, plot, characters description, cast, and the script for a key scene. To assess the experience the students completed a questionnaire about different aspects of the proposal at the end of the semester, along with a validated questionnaire about sustainability awareness. Results and conclusion. The analysis of the ecofeminist movies prepared and the responses to the questionnaires shows how the students were able to assimilate the ecofeminist thesis and incorporate them to their reflection about sustainability. This is also manifested in the results of the “Attitudes toward Sustainable Development scale”, which indicate a high level of sustainability attitudes in these preservice teachers, with no differences between genders. The creativity of these preservice teachers is evident in the variety of approaches to the topic in the different movies proposed. We can conclude that the ecofeminist topic is relevant in the classroom because it contributes to enhancing the ethical debate and driving the teaching-learning process in an interdisciplinary manner, perfectly aligned with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

Several momentous and significant events happening all over the world make this paradigm change in the method of teaching in the Asian countries. The first is globalization. High technology has shrunk the world so drastically that professionals have to complete with others internationally. This simply means that if Engineering students do not learn effectively, the graduates will hardly stand a chance in the global competition. This research presents information on the status of accreditation and evaluation of engineering programs in different countries around the world. The focus will be on United States ABET criteria 2016, the Canadian Council of Professional Engineering criteria and the FEANI standards for European institutions Accreditation policies and procedures of other countries are also described briefly in the research. Information on mutual recognition agreements and the cross border recognition of engineering education will also be emphasized.

As a member state of the European Union, Poland is committed to sustainability by endorsing the principles of sustainable development in its Constitution and adopting European standards. However, to overcome the societal, environmental and economic demands, a society needs to integrate sustainability concepts into daily practices, education playing a crucial role in achieving this objective. This paper aims to provide an overview of the education for sustainability in Poland and its impact on Polish society. Designed as a narrative literature review, the paper reports on how education for sustainability was carried out between 1994 and 2013, building a detailed picture of the educational programs and actions conducted in business and non –profit organizations. Additionally it is revealed that although challenging, creating community-based learning can increase people’s awareness and potential to contribute to a sustainable future by reducing the de-coupling effect between organizational actual practices and declarations.

Opis:
Aim: The aim of the reserch is to explore the possibility of integrating Sciences and Humanities in the Faculty of Education using Ecocriticism books and literary workshops with didactic activities of interdisciplinary nature. Methods: The experience was carried out with 100 students of the Faculty of Education of the University of Valencia from the subjects “Natural Sciences for teachers” and “Literary training for teachers”, where different didactic activities around two literary works, a novel and a short story, were proposed. Results: After the activities, the vast mayority of the students consider that Literature can help to learn Science. 41'7% of the students of “Literary training for teachers” and 62.5% of “Natural Sciences for teachers” consider the integration of Sciences and Humanities in class “very important”; and 55.6% and 29.2% “quite important”. More than 90% of the students said they were “very” or “quite” conscious of sustainability and environmental protection, although the percentages vary slightly between the two classes. Conclusion: With this study we have shown that Ecocriticism and Education are two interlinked concepts, in the same way that literature and society are. Using the socializing function of literature is when we can have greater educational performance in the current classrooms, because it allows the students to connect their reality with the texts. These ecocriticism works are a first-order didactic resource to raise awareness about environmental and sustainability problems in pre-service teachers that will transmit the message to their future students.

The paper points out the need to verify the vision of man’s place on Earth, erroneously based so far on the anthropocentric concept. At present, it should result from a biocentric perspective, in which at the existential level man occupies an equal position with other organisms in nature, but using his capacities for rational thinking, he regulates environmental changes on a micro and macro scale so as to enable the development of civilisation and the simultaneous renewal of nature’s resources. This can allow sustainable development to be achieved by harmoniously combining economic growth with environmental requirements and participation in civil society building. Adequate university-wide education in this area is needed to create sustainability. In a university, it should be conducted in every field of study. The aim of the publication is to show the global trend towards using the concept of a university subject for teaching sustainable development: home economics and technologies in the world with the possibility of implementation in Poland. The authors also propose a new take on the issue and a dissemination of the above considerations towards homo-ecocentrism.

Purpose – The article documents the findings of semi-structured interviews with human resource managers and project leaders, mostly from Austrian enterprises, on their attitude towards the relevance of intercultural management and the measures they have taken to address this issue. Methodology/Approach – The interviews were conducted in the context of the EU-funded university-enterprise project SKILL2E, aimed at designing and promoting cultural mentoring at the enterprise as a means to sustainably raise awareness and competence for an increasingly globalized workforce. Findings – While a large majority attested to the relevance of intercultural management, only a small portion actively engaged in activities to recruit and integrate employees with diverse backgrounds. Additionally, a number of enterprises indiscriminately equated induction or buddy programmes with cultural mentoring. It also became evident that the potential of transnational student placements as a recruiting instrument and a learning opportunity for both universities and enterprises has not yet been fully realized.Originality / Value – This case study demonstrates the gap between the perception and attitudes of enterprises in regards to diversity issues and the actual implementation status.

The concept of global education is based on the recognition of the world as a network of interdependencies and on realizing the fact that the current direction of the development of civilization is leading to environmental and humanitarian disaster. On the other hand, there is a belief that there is still a chance to change this state of affairs by means of education. The purpose of education is recognized as not only a transfer of knowledge, but also as a transfer of morals that are able to generate a shift in attitudes. In order to strengthen the impact of the global education project, it is necessary to provide a coherent description and axiological analysis of the values behind it. In the paper, we argue that ethicists should work on building philosophical arguments for the development and implementation of global education programs. We argue further that such a philosophical framework should be based on the ideas of new humanism (proposed by Aurelio Peccei) and global responsibility (formulated by Hans Jonas).

Sustainability essentially involves maintaining level of per capita well-being over time. With coming of the con-cept of sustainability the line of distinction existing between Human and society got vanished and there was a paradigm shift to understanding the various dimension of human society and their inter linkages along with the challenges we face. This paper reviews contemporary thinking and outlines the challenges with regard to the three very important dimensions, namely: urbanization, food insecurity and agriculture. Among the various reasons for growing food insecurity the key one has been Urbanization and its consequential increase in population. Through this paper we are presenting the ideas and practices of agricultural sustainability dealing with the following problems: Agroenvironmental Sources, Inputs System, Socio-Economic system and the various Farming Systems. Also in this paper outline for ideas of urban sustainability incorporating the concept of urban social sustainability, understanding the position of urban ecology have been studied. Concept of urban farming is also important, since it helps to reduce problems in urban food supply by ensuring urban food security.
Zrównoważony rozwój w istocie polega na stałym utrzymywaniu odpowiedniego poziomu życia ludzi. Wraz z rozwojem koncepcji rozwoju zrównoważonego linia podziału pomiędzy jednostką a społeczeństwem zanika, a jednocześnie następuje zmiana paradygmatu w kierunku poznania różnych wymiarów życia społecznego i ich powiązań z wyzwaniami, przed którymi stoimy. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi refleksję odnoszącą się do wyzwań związanych z trzema ważnymi wymiarami: urbanizacją, zagrożeniami bezpieczeństwa żywieniowego i rolnictwem. Wśród różnych uwarunkowań rosnącego zagrożenia bezpieczeństwa żywieniowego kluczową rolę odgrywa urbanizacja i jej konsekwencje. Przedstawiamy idee i zagadnienia praktyczne związane ze zrównoważonością w rolnictwie zwracając uwagę na: aspekty agrośrodowiskowe, system wejść, system społeczno-ekonomiczny i różne systemy uprawiania roli. Próbujemy także przybliżyć koncepcję miejskiej zrównoważoności, zawierającej w sobie zagadnienia związane z miejską zrównoważonością społeczną, rolą, którą powinna odegrać ekologia miasta, a także możliwościami rozwoju miejskiego rolnictwa, jako sposobu na zmniejszenie niedostatków dostaw żywności i poprzez to zapewnienie miejskiego bezpieczeństwa żywieniowego.

In the case study of University of Latvia tourism study programme authors included practice of active teaching method application used to improve student understanding and competences including research, surveys, observations, shadowing, monitoring and register of the tourist tracks, expert interviews and industry seminars, discussions and interviews with industry stakeholders, field trips, different tourism sector enterprise and organisation visits inspections, colloquiums, research result presentations in seminars and conferences, knowledge enhancing for sustainability, best practices and systems used by other countries. Many of active learning methods are as additional activities for students not included in the compulsory part of studies, therefore it is needed to establish an additional separate entity for tourism and sustainability activities for applied teaching and research at university – Tourism and Sustainability Research Laboratory. Separate research entity gives possibility to involve interested students from different study programmes and cooperation with other faculties.
