Opis:
The supply chain of spare parts is the intersection between the supply chain, the after-sales and the maintenance services. Some authors have tried to define improvement paths in terms of models to satisfy the performance criteria. In addition, other authors are directed towards the integration of risk management in the demand forecasting and the stock management (performance evaluation) through probabilistic models. Among these models, the probabilistic graphical models are the most used, for example, Bayesian networks and petri nets. Performance evaluation is done through performance indicators. To measure the appreciation of the supply of the spare parts stock, this paper focuses on the performance evaluation of the system by petri nets. This evaluation will be done through an analytical study. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and analyze the performance of the system by proposed indicators. First, we present a literature review on Petri nets which is the essential tool in our modeling. Secondly, we present in the third section the analytical study of the model based on bath deterministic and stochastic petri networks. Finally, we present an analysis of the proposed model compared to the existing ones.

Opis:
This study aims to model a planning process of handling outbound deliveries from a set of geographically dispersed warehouses. The model incorporates parameters observed in real-life supply chains and allows simulation of various variants of process supporting decision making of current shipment management, as well as strategic planning of distribution network. A heuristic algorithm that can be used for planning source warehouses for shipments is proposed. The model is built and tested on real business data and its performance proves to be better than the one currently used by a reference company.

Opis:
The accompanying part I (Ghahremanlou and Kubiak 2020) developed the Lean Model (LM), a two-stage stochastic programming model which incorporates Renewable Fuel Standard 2 (RFS2), Tax Credits, Tariffs, and Blend Wall (BW), to study the policy impact on the Sustainable Petroleum Supply Chain (SPSC) using cellulosic ethanol. The model enables us to study the impact by running computational experiments more efficiently and consequently by arriving at robust managerial insights much faster. In this paper, we present a case study of the policy impact on the SPSC in the State of Nebraska using the model. The case study uses available real-life data. The study shows that increasing RFS2 does not impact the amount of ethanol blended with gasoline but it might lead to bankruptcy of the refineries. We recommend that the government consider increasing the BW because of its positive economic, environmental and social impacts. For the same reason, we recommend that the tax credit for blending the US produced ethanol with gasoline be at least 0:189 $/gal and the tariff for imported ethanol be at least 1:501 $/gal. These also make the State independent from foreign ethanol thereby enhancing its energy security. Finally, the change in policy impacts the SPSC itself, most importantly it influences the strategic decisions, however setting up a bio-refinery at York county and a blending site at Douglas county emerge as the most robust location decisions against the policy change in the study.

Opis:
Environmental concerns and energy security have led governments to establish legislations to convert Conventional Petroleum Supply Chain (CPSC) to Sustainable Petroleum Supply Chain (SPSC). The United States (US), one of the biggest oil consumers in the world, has created regulations to manage ethanol production and consumption for the last half century. Though these regulations have created new opportunities, they have also added new burdens to the obligated parties. It is thus key for the government, the obligated parties, and related businesses to study the impact of the policies on the SPSC. We develop a two-stage stochastic programming model, General Model (GM), which incorporates Renewable Fuel Standard 2 (RFS2), Tax Credits, Tariffs, and Blend Wall (BW) to study the policy impact on the SPSC using cellulosic ethanol. The model, as any other general model available in the literature, makes it highly impractical to study the policy impact due to the model’s computational complexity. We use the GM to derive a Lean Model (LM) to study the impact by running computational experiments more efficiently and consequently by arriving at robust managerial insights much faster. We present a case study of the policy impact on the SPSC in the State of Nebraska using the LM in the accompanying part II (Ghahremanlou and Kubiak 2020).

Opis:
The main aim of the article is the indication of the impact of the rise of global supply chains on the foreign trade policy. The subject of the discussion and theoretical contribution in the undertaken research program are new tendencies in international business − the rise of global supply chains, the impact of the rise of global supply chains on the political economy of trade and countries motivations for cooperating on trade policies and the rise of global supply chains and increasing importance of bilateral agreements in the foreign trade policy. It is important to underline that a few multinational firms are responsible for a major share of world trade and for the rise of global supply chains. On the one hand, these firms should support regulatory harmonization across different Preferential Trade Agreements (PTAs) in order to lower trade costs. On the other hand, they might also resist harmonization – and encourage certain non-tariff measures – in order to prevent new competitors from entering markets. This may partly explain the persistence of regulatory divergence, and suggests that the political economy of regulatory convergence, especially in the conditions of the rise of global supply chains, may be more complex than is sometimes suggested
