Opis:
Spatial daylight illuminance in building interiors is a function of daylight transmission, distribution and utilization. All the factors mentioned above, decide on the amount of daylight entering from the outside and migrating to a given point in the room. This amount is determined by glazing/opaque ratio, glazing properties, interior shapes, finishing materials, etc. Total Daylight Index (Till) is a function of transmission (T) and distribution (D) and can change between O and I depending on the distance from the daylight source (window). The values of TDI and determined the required level of illuminance (Ix) at working plane at a distance (m) from the light source. The main purpose of our study was to find the amount of supplementary light essential for providing required level of illuminance for assumed TDI value. The analyses were done using advanced numerical techniques based on Backward Ray Tracing Method, for Overcast sky conditions. Obtained results show the energy efficient of supporting system and electric power of luminaries. On the other hand the final results could be a guidelines for designers, who would like to analyzed the visual comfort and energy efficient aspects of the building.

This paper deals with the performance assessment of a textile industry, namely African Textile Manufactures (ATM) Ltd., in Chalawa, Kano industrial estate, Federal Republic of Nigeria. The entire system ATM has different sections of machines for processing various assignments. The machines in the sections have diverse capabilities. We assumed the following subsystems: spinning, weaving, pretreatment, printing, and steaming. The failure rates of subsystems are constant, and they follow exponential distribution, while the repairs follow two types of distributions, namely general distribution and Gumbel–Hougaard family copula distribution. The system analyzed by employing supplementary variable and the Laplace transform. Various measures of reliability have been computed for differential values of failures and two types of repair. The conclusions and some recommendations are addressed to improving the management of ATM.

Do analizy wybrano pomieszczenie o proporcjach 1x3, gdzie większy wymiar oznacza głębokością. Wysokość pomieszczenia przyjęto równą szerokości. Przeanalizowano 10 charakterystyk optycznych prze- szklenia T (transmisję światła dziennego przez przezroczyste elementy obudowy) oraz właściwości emisyjne powierzchni wewnętrznych D (dystrybucję swiatła w pomieszczeniu). Wartości T i D przyjęto zgodnie z zaproponowaną w pracy [1] metodologią oceny oświetlenia wnętrz światłem dziennym opartą na Całkowitym Wskaźniku Oświetlenia Dziennego TDI.
In selected types of the non-residential building such a offices, people spends a majority of time during the day. Therefore, it is necessary to achieve high internal comfort parameters e.g. lighting quality. The visual comfort is determined by required illuminance level at working plan. In the most of the office buildings required illuminance at level of 500 1x- 750 1x required additional, supplementary electric lighting. Well designed daylight system lead to create the healthy and friendly environment.

Opis:
Objectve: Person-Environment fit (P-E fit) paradigm, seems to be especially useful in explaining phenomena related to work attitudes and occupational health. The study explores the relationship between a specific facet of P-E fit as Person-Organization fit (P-O fit) and health. Materials and Methods: Research was conducted on the random sample of 600 employees. Person-Organization Fit Questionnaire was used to asses the level of Person-Organization fit; mental health status was measured by General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28); and items from Work Ability Index allowed for evaluation of somatic health. Data was analyzed using non parametric statistical tests. The predictive value of P-O fit for various aspects of health was checked by means of linear regression models. Results: A comparison between the groups distinguished on the basis of their somatic and mental health indicators showed significant differences in the level of overall P-O fit (χ² = 23.178; p < 0.001) and its subdimensions: for complementary fit (χ² = 29.272; p < 0.001), supplementary fit (χ² = 23.059; p < 0.001), and identification with organization (χ² = 8.688; p = 0.034). From the perspective of mental health, supplementary P-O fit seems to be important for men’s well-being and explains almost 9% of variance in GHQ-28 scores, while in women, complementary fit (5% explained variance in women’s GHQ score) and identification with organization (1% explained variance in GHQ score) are significant predictors of mental well-being. Interestingly, better supplementary and complementary fit are related to better mental health, but stronger identification with organization in women produces adverse effect on their mental health. Conclusions: The results show that obtaining the optimal level of P-O fit can be beneficial not only for the organization (e.g. lower turnover, better work effectiveness and commitment), but also for the employees themselves. Optimal level of P-O fit can be considered as a factor maintaining workers’ health. However, prospective research is needed to confirm the results obtained in this exploratory study.

Opis:
Shells of subfossil snails and bivalves commonly noted in deposits of the Eemian Interglacial were used by several authors as more or less important stratigraphic indicators. In Poland, they have been noted in 35 sections, 20 of which are described as basic ones. Molluscan assemblages found at these sites include 60 species of freshwater molluscs and 58 species of land snails, the former being dominant. Climatic tolerance of particular species is the main attribute deciding on their stratigraphic values. Cold-tolerant snails are typical of the preceding Late Glacial and some of them occur also in early phases of the interglacial, while species connected with moderate climate and warm-demanding ones characterise the middle part of the Eemian Interglacial. The freshwater snail Belgrandia marginata is typical of the climatic optimum of this interglacial. Particular species of molluscs were related to regional pollen assemblage zones of the Eemian Interglacial in Poland.

Opis:
Objectives: The aim of the presented research was to explore the links between complementary and supplementary dimensions of Person-Organization fit (P-O fit), organizational identification (OI) and negative (WHI-) versus positive (WHI+) work-home interactions. It was assumed that both complementary and supplementary P-O fit and OI were positively related to WHI+ and negatively to WHI-. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on a large sample of Polish blue and white collar workers. The subjects were interviewed by means of questionnaires measuring: supplementary and complementary dimensions of P-O fit, OI and WHI. General work ability and demographic variables were also controlled in the study, and statistical analysis of ANOVA, pairwise comparison as well as regression were performed. Results: P-O fit and OI differentiated the subjects in terms of WHI. For women supplementary fit was a significant predictor of WHI- and explained 12% of its variance, for men it was complementary fit with the number of working days per week and the level of education, which explained 22% of variance. Supplementary fit and OI explained 16% of WHI+ variance in women; OI, tenure at the main place of employment and the level of education explained 8% of WHI+ variance in men. Conclusions: It has been proven that not only are the effects of P-O fit and OI limited to the work environment but they also permeate boundaries between work and home and influence private life - good level of P-O fit and good OI play facilitating role in the positive spillover between work and home. Gender differences in the significance and predictive values of P-O fit and OI for WHI were also found. The innovative aspect of the work is the inclusion of P-O fit and OI in the range of significant predictors of work-home interaction. The results can serve as rationale for employers that improvement of P-O fit and employees' organizational identification should be included in work-life balance programs.

This study examined how person–supervisor fit is related to employees’ proactive behavior and unethical behavior towards the organization. The study involved 321 employees representing various sectors in Poland. The participants completed the Person–Supervisor Fit Scale, Proactive Behavior Scale, and the Unethical Behavior Questionnaire. Results show that a supplementary fit is weakly and positively related to proactive behavior but is not related to complementary fit. Surprisingly, supplementary fit is weakly but positively related to unethical behavior, while complementary fit from a needs–resources perspective is weakly and negatively associated with unethical behavior. Conclusions may be applied to organizational settings challenged by the problem of employee unethical behavior and their low proactivity in the context of person–supervisor congruence.

Voluntary pension plans
Opis:
Aim/purpose – Occupational pension schemes are products which seem to create the opportunity for better retirement provision. In Poland, they have not gained a great popularity so far, but now, Polish pension system stands at the threshold of change as the draft law on occupational capital plans has been presented by government and delivered for public consultation. Therefore, the main goal of the study is to answer the question if this new form of occupational pension schemes is a chance for a stimulation of voluntary pension savings. Design/methodology/approach – The aim of the study has been realised by a critical analysis of current solutions applied in Poland as well as a comparative analysis of solutions applied in European countries, where occupational pension programmes have already succeeded. The paper is mainly of a theoretical and review nature. Findings – The identified opportunities and threats related to the draft law support the view that occupational capital plans can become a stimulus for a development of supplementary pension system, nevertheless, they still need some amendments. Therefore, some recommendations have been indicated in the work. Research implications/limitations – Chosen European countries are all characterised by a different social security model and they represent different pension welfare worlds, therefore, they cannot be treated as models which could be blindly copied (differing conditions of each country should be taken into account). Originality/value/contribution – Among many discussions on occupational capital plans based on political views, the work provides the reader with a content-related evaluation based on facts (previous Polish and foreign experience). It can contribute to the discussion on the development of voluntary pension schemes in Poland and other countries.

Aim. The paper attempts to explore the impact ofrivate tutoring in light of the equity-related concerns especially in the context of the Indian society. Private tutoring is a phenomenon that has been an intrinsic part of the Indian education system since the 1980s. Methods. The paper is an outcome of the Masters of Philosophy dissertation work of the scholar submitted to National University of Education Planning and Administration, Delhi, India. Results. The structure of private tutoring is such that it mimics the regular school curriculum and modifies itself to match the needs of the school and the children. Any changes in the regular school curriculum bring a change in its supplement as well. It thus behaves like a shadow of the regular schools. Though private tutoring was believed to enhance learning opportunities of weak students, it has now become a 'parity of prestige' issue. Conclusion. The expansion of tutoring has begun to deepen the inequalities already prevalent in the stratified schooling system and society at large.
