    Opis:
    The paper presents the methodology for 3D video subjective quality evaluation. Described methodology was designed to compare different 3D video compression technologies without an influence of any particular displaying or rendering technology. In addition detailed step by step description of test session design and preparation is provided. Experimental results for state-of-the-art 3D encoders are also included. All tests were conducted on two 3D monitors (polarization and autostereoscopic) thus influence of different displaying technologies on 3D video quality assessments has also been evaluated.

    Kompresja cyfrowego sygnału wizyjnego, pomimo wnoszenia różnego rodzaju zakłóceń, jest obecnie szeroko wykorzystywana w wielu zastosowaniach; pozwala na znaczne ograniczenie prędkości transmisji w stosunku do sygnału nie poddanego kompresji. W pracy zostały omówione zalecane przez International Telecommunication Union (ITU) najczęściej stosowane metody do oceny jakości kompresji obrazów. Zaprezentowano system, którego zadaniem jest ułatwienie przeprowadzenia subiektywnej oceny jakości kompresji sekwencji wizyjnych. Umożliwia on przeprowadzenie oceny jakości zdalnie, poprzez sieć Internet, co poszerza grono osób mogących brać udział w teście a także ułatwia uzyskanie dużej liczby ocen.
    Video signal compression is today widely used in many applications. Such compression introduces artefacts to the signal, such as: blocking effect, loss of details, colour distortions, mosquito effect, dirty window effect, motion irregularity, geometric distortions [1, 2]. There is a need to compare various codecs in order to choose the best algorithms of compression. Nowadays many types of objective video quality assessment consists in measuring the differences between the original and reconstructed video. The most commonly used objective measure of image quality is the PSNR (1) [1, 5]. Objective methods are simple and fast but sometimes not reliable. That is the reason why it is recommended to perform subjective quality assessment [3]. There exist standardized test methods for subjective video quality assessment; the most accepted methods are recommended by ITU-R [6]. These tests require a large group of test persons that are non-experts on video. The most commonly used methods are: Double Stimulus Impairment Scale, Double Stimulus Continuous Quality Scale, Single Stimulus. In the paper the software helpful in performing the subjective video quality assessment is proposed and presented. The software has possibility to carry out subjective tests through the Internet and has a client-server architecture. Such a construction makes the quality assessment much easier and more accessible for persons performing it. Views of some windows of the software are shown in Figs. 3 - 6.

    In literature, oriented filters are used for low-level vision tasks. In this paper, we propose use of steerable Gaussian filter in image quality assessment. Human visual system is more sensitive to multidirectional edges present in natural images. The most degradation in image quality is caused due to its edges. In this work, an edge based metric termed as steerable Gaussian filtering (SGF) quality index is proposed as objective measure for image quality assessment. The performance of the proposed technique is evaluated over multiple databases. The experimental result shows that proposed method is more reliable and outperform the conventional image quality assessment method.

    The aim of the study was to analyze the results of patients’ subjective self-assessment of surgical treatment of prognathism. Materials and methods. The study included 35 patients who underwent extraoral vertical ramus osteotomy. Each patient responded to 12 questions contained in the questionnaire created by the authors. Results. All respondents positively assessed their appearance after surgery. In most cases they pointed out the positive impact of treatment on their self-confidence (82.9% of responses). The vast majority of respondents felt improvement in biting off food (91.4%). Conclusions. Patients positively evaluate the outcome of surgical treatment with extraoral vertical ramus osteotomy. The subjective improvement of the facial appearance, as well as chewing and articulation functions took place after the treatment.

    Opis:
    The multi-stimulus test with hidden reference and anchors (MUSHRA) is commonly used for subjective quality assessment of audio systems. Despite its wide acceptance in scientific and industrial sectors, the method is not free from bias. One possible source of bias in the MUSHRA method may be attributed to a graphical design of its user interface. This paper examines the hypothesis that replacement of the standard multi-slider layout with a single-slider version could reduce a stimulus spacing bias observed in the MUSHRA test. Contrary to the expectation, the aforementioned modification did not reduce the bias. This outcome formally supports the validity of using multiple sliders in the MUSHRA graphical interface.
