The organization of human cognitive styles can be described as a kind of functional system or as an holon. In this framework it is possible to propose a new theoretical base for classifying the primary cognitive styles. The fundamental theoretical thesis is that for all styles there is one common mechanism of forming and scanning the perceptual and memory field induced by the situation, and by the differences in the manner of carrying out the processes of field scanning /codes interfering depend on the range of conceptual equivalency and cognitive control of behavior. In the functional describing of the basic set of cognitive styles we must take into account three elements of the chain: neurobiological modules -> organization of cognitive holon -> behavioral manifestation of styles.

According to EH Erikson (2004), identity formation is one of the most important tasks of adolescence. According to the latest research results, we know that identity is not a permanent, unchanging construct, but is shaped subject to various influences, especially cultural and socio-economic influences, and not only during adolescence, but also in subsequent stages of adulthood. The formation of identity is a process that produces a lot of challenges, limitations and conflicts, the experience of which can trigger different ways of dealing with them. These methods are called identity processing styles or identity processing orientations. The article presents the results of my research into understanding the identity styles of young people attending public upper secondary schools in Bydgoszcz (N=1.541). These styles were studied based on the socio-cognitive concept of Michael Berzonsky, according to which identity styles are understood as individual preferences when shaping personal identity, as well as the conflicts that arise during its shaping. M. Berzonsky (2005; 2011) uses the term identity style and identity orientation interchangeably, emphasising that he has in mind the organisation of identity processing strategy. His Identity Styles Model assumes differences in how young people deal with the task of shaping, maintaining and changing their identity, or how they avoid doing so. Within the model, three identity styles are distinguished: informative, normative and diffuse-avoidant, as well as the important factor known as commitment, which provides the individual with a sense of purpose and direction. In my research, these styles were measured based on the Polish adaptation of the ISI-5 Identity Style Inventory by A. Senejko and Z. Moose, the original version of which was developed by M. Berzonsky and his colleagues.

The article presents theory and research concerning mobbing. The research was conducted in the urban transport company which is one of the biggest work places in Wrocław. Thirteen managers and forty four employees took part in this research. The study had an illustrative, not a representative, character, since such a number of employees is sufficient to establish, whether mobbing is a standard in the organizational culture of an enterprise.

The study presents conclusions of research on perceived parenting styles and attachment of adolescents attending Slovak state schools. The study aimed to investigate whether the emotional relationship with the child and work with behavioural boundaries that are the basis of parents’ parenting style relate to the degree of adolescents’ attachment. The theoretical background of the research problem was based on the theory of attachment and the theory of parenting styles. The research sample consisted of 1011 adolescents aged 10 to 15 (mean age 12.75 years, standard deviation 1.483) from all Slovak regions. Data were collected using the Parenting Style Questionnaire and the revised version of The Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment. We assumed that the degree of adolescents’ attachment strongly relates to their perception of their parents’ parenting styles. The results were significant and indicated that the character of parenting affects the perception of the closeness of the relationship between adolescents and their parents.

Choosing the right childcare service for one’s child to compensate for parents’ professional working time is a significantly important decision for a mother. The study aimed to analyze whether parental styles are predictors of satisfaction with childcare services among mothers. This link was tested on a sample that consisted of 200 adult women (Mage = 32.39 years; SDage = 4.47) who were mothers of children aged 18 to 36 months. The results indicated that accepting and autonomous parenting styles were related to higher satisfaction with childcare services. In contrast, excessively demanding, protective, and inconsistent parenting styles were related to lower satisfaction with childcare services. However, given the intercorrelations between parenting styles, we found that two of them sufficiently predicted satisfaction with childcare services: acceptance (positively) and overly protective style (negatively).

The literature points that attachment is key mechanism in the development of people. According to the attachment theory, the experience of neglect, abandonment and other early traumas have influence on forming the dysfunctions of emotions and personality pathology. The aim of this article is the verification of the thesis about relation between attachment style and personality disorders. The analysis of results of 155 participants has been conducted (persons in the similar age, similar educational level, similar number of females and males). The diagnosis of personality disorder was based on SCID-II (Structured Clinical Interview for Axis – II), and additionally confirmed by PDQ-4 Hyler Inventory. To examine the attachment style the Plopa’s Attachment Styles Questionnaire and the Revised Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory (ECR-R designed by Fraley et al., 2000), were used. The multiple regression model was used to test whether attachment styles maybe the predictors for personality disorders. The current results partly support the Lyddon and Sherry’ thesis. The main predictor for the relations between attachment and personality disorders is the anxious attachment style.

The man goal of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality and conflict management style of the staffs of the Province of Kurdistan's Government offices. This research falls under applied research in terms of goal, from a methodological point of view, it is descriptive-survey and is correlative. The researcher, via examining the population, specifically by using random sampling, deals with studying activities. This research is also among correlative researches from the view of relationship between variables and according to the timing when data were collected; this research is a cross-sectional research. The main tool for gathering data in this research is Thomas' Conflict Management Style and Personality. The statistical population of this current research consisted of staffs at the Kurdistan's government offices. The sample volume was selected 210 people by using the Cochran formula and simple random sampling method and in the end, 206 questionnaires were gathered for statistical analysis (Thomas, 1976). Findings revealed that there is correlation between openness to staffs; experience and conflict management styles; dimension of compatibility and conflict management style; dimension of staffs' conscientiousness and conflict management; dimension of staffs; extroversion and conflict management style and also between dimension off staffs' neuroticism and conflict management styles.

The aim of the research was to determine the predictive power of parenting styles in predicting subjective well-being and self-efficacy as aspects of adolescent mental health. The sample consisted of 270 students from four high schools in Serbia, aged 16 and 17. The research was conducted during March and April 2021, and research methods that were used are descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and regression analysis. The authoritative parental educational style contributes to the development of adolescents’ experience of self-efficacy and subjective well-being. Authoritative parents - through high warmth and control - provide the child with an optimal environment for development.

The post-modern reality, including the multitude of changes and expanding volumes of offers force the individual to continually redefine themselves. A person existing in contemporary reality is permanently on the search for their identity, in order to finally find the most suitable one, which (as it usually turns out nowadays) does not exist. Youths make a choice within the range of education offers. They more often than not decide to study, with studying being the reason for delaying the moment of entry into adulthood and taking over social roles that are specific for the period of young adulthood. In making this choice, young people enter the phase of so-called emerging adulthood, which for a while now has been a new, separate phase of development, fitting in between adolescence and young adulthood. They are not passing through the complex process of puberty any more, however, they do not always have a mature identity. They find themselves in a period characterised by intense exploration. The article attempts to describe the specifics of this stage, additionally presenting an overview of studies on the mode of coping with issues of identification characterising the early adulthood period.

The paper presents the results of analyzing the impact of learning styles on the success of the MOOC course. The study was based on the Kolb’s learning style questionnaire. The survey was shared among the students of software engineering MOOC course. The results of the survey were statistically analyzed. Compared the influence of different learning styles and their strength to successful completion of the course. Analyzed the strength of different learning styles among the students of different ages and different education. The results of the research show that the learning style has an impact to the course finishing success and should be considered for the effective educational program creation.

Cel: Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje tematykę podobieństw w stylach zarządzania (zdefiniowanych przez D. Golemana) oraz wychowania (według myśli klasycznej) ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem postaw i metod przyjmowanych przez osoby decyzyjne w zależności od ich cech charakteru bądź oczekiwanych rezultatów. Metody: Artykuł został napisany na podstawie analizy tekstów. Rezultaty: Artykuł opisuje relacje panujące między poszczególnymi stylami wychowania (autokratycznym, liberalnym, demokratycznym, niekonsekwentnym) a stylami zarządzania (przymusowym, partnerskim, demokratycznym, autorytarnym, ustawowym/procesowym, rolą przywódcy, rolą opiekuna, coachingiem). Wnioski: Wychowanie uwzględniające postawy rodziców bądź opiekunów względem dziecka znajdują odzwierciedlenie w relacji panującej między pracownikiem a pracodawcą, zarówno w dużych, jak i małych firmach. Artykuł ukazuje podobieństwo strategii oraz metod oddziaływania na jednostki.
Aim: The article is focused on analysis of similarities in management styles (defined by D. Goleman) and upbringing styles (according to classical thought), with particular emphasis on attitudes and methods adopted by decision-makers, depending on their character traits or the expected results. Methods: The article was written based on the text analysis. Results: The article describes relationship between individual parenting, upbringing styles (autocratic style, liberal style, democratic style, inconsistent style) and management styles (forced style, partner style, democratic style, authoritarian style, statutory/process style, leadership role, guardian role, coaching). Conclusions: Upbringing, which is considering the attitude of parents towards the children is reflected in the relationship between the employee and employers in both large and small companies. The article presents and summarizes similarity of strategies and methods of influencing individuals.

Historically a much greater range of styles of literary humour were to be found in Britain than in the United States because Britain was a much more hierarchical society with a divided elite and an aristocratic as well as a bourgeois aesthetic. In America there was a single dominant class, that of independent farmers and the businessmen and professional people of medium sized cities whose optimistic, egalitarian, moralistic, culture restricted the range of styles an aspiring American humorous writer could use. This restrictiveness remained long after American had become the world's leading, richest and most technologically advanced economy. British humour alone was able to use styles that valued detachment from conventional morality and also took inequality for granted and hence devised forms of aggressive mockery that could be directed downwards. British humour was also able to employ a greater reach of allusiveness, vocabulary and sophistication than was possible in America. It was the rise of Jewish humour in America from a new initially immigrant population that valued things of the intellect for their own sake and which had also mastered the arts of detachment that enabled American literary humour to achieve a comparable degree of variety and sophistication to that of Britain in the course of the twentieth century.

Adam Mickiewicz University Press. ISSN 1233-6688. DOI: 10.14746/se.2020.56.7 The article contains a presentation of the results of empirical research, which purpose was to diagnose the general level of teachers’ job satisfaction and its disaggregation depending on gender, age and seniority, and to diagnose styles of humor presented by teachers, as well as to determine the relationship between these variables. The research sample was a group of 113 teachers from 11 randomly selected middle schools from Western Poland. A survey revealed no differentiation of professional satisfaction on the part of the teachers surveyed in terms of sex, age and length of employment. However, it was revealed that self-enhancing humor, relatively weak, but statistically significant (r = 0.289), correlates positively with the level of teachers’ professional satisfaction. The results confirm the assumption that this kind of adaptive humor is an individual factor that holds an important role in increasing a sense of satisfaction and well-being of individuals.
